Speaker 1 (00:00):
And new way out on Sea one on one REX
in the morning. An Alabama father has rewarded his nine
year old son with a steak dinner after school suspension
for self defense. The dumb story, does your student have
or your son or daughter, do they have a right
to defend themselves when cornered by a bully? Well, this

(00:20):
father says, Yep, he does. Nine year old student spending
a three day holiday on suspension working alongside his dad
after a confrontation led to a zero tolerance disciplinary action. Yeah,
the school didn't seem to care that he was being bullied.
They're upset about his reaction. This after the other student

(00:42):
tried to punch him, and so he struck back. One
shot ended that encounter instantly. While school officials suspended the
boy for handling the situation wrong, they say, his parents say, no,
he handled it correctly. He was cornered, he was bullied.
The other guy punched him, so he punched him back

(01:03):
and just knocked him on his butt. The family's firm
stance is that we're raising sheep, dogs, not sheep. Has
sparked a little bit of a debate across the region
regarding school self defense policies. And the right of a
child to stand their ground when threatened. I would say,
your child does have the right to stand their ground
when threatened. I'm certainly not talking about violence that's going

(01:25):
to send somebody to the hospital. But you know, anybody
that's ever been bullied, if you didn't do anything about it,
you probably carry that with you for the rest of
your life. Here's storytime. Now. I remember this was an
accidental hit. I didn't mean to hit this guy. I
did it with my elbow. We used to get done

(01:47):
with like, you know, a gym class, right, and so
you'd shower, you'd get dressed, and lunch was on the
other side of the doors, and so all the kids
would line up on these long benches, you know, like
when they have like in a you know, training room.
And I and I got myself to the end of
the bench, like first one out the door. And there's
this bully guy that just used to be the biggest

(02:09):
jackass to me when I was like in the eighth grade.
And he gets behind me and he just starts poking
me with a pencil in the ribs and he's like move, move,
trade seats, move, move, And he prodded me one time
too many, and I didn't even mean to do it,
but I flung back with my elbow, like stop one
of those, and hit him square in the nose. Blood everywhere,

(02:32):
went down, crying, and then I you know, for a
short moment there, I was like and then and then
of course I had to own it. Yeah, that's right.
You mess with me again, you're gonna get the other elbow.
It was one of those, and I ended up getting
suspended for three days over that. It was an accidental blow,
but I had to claim it. Gi me, seat man,

(02:52):
come on, move it. No. I flailed back with my
chicken wing and took this kid out. He never bothered
me again. So there you go. If you let that
bully bully you, I'm telling you, the years will stack
up in the AO. Before too long, you'll find yourself
writing their name on a spiral notebook. People I intend

(03:15):
to I've got three days, grace and never too late.
