Speaker 2 (00:32):
Look about the rock your world. We need for those
we need to talk about to talk, we talk well.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
This He is Ryan Shuming live on Denver's Talk station
at six point thirty.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Kow Hey, Bookie is what Bill Belichick reads to his
girlfriend before bedtime.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
They do.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
They read the very Horny Caterpillar, the Little Engine that Could,
but needed a pill first, and of course the classic
good Night Boots.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
That was my favorite one.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Also, I'm not trasting Bill Belichick. First off, he's seventy
three years old.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
He's dating a.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Hot twenty four year old and people are criticizing him.
What happened to this country? Used to be a great country?
He won six super Bowls. Yeah, he's dating a hot
twenty four year old. Maybe if you guys won six
super Bowls, you wouldn't be sitting next to a fat,
ugly dog wife. They let me do it. I don't
(01:46):
he was Disney, they allowed that. Yeah, I'm gonna tell
you a story I was at. Yeah, we should have
taken that out. I had doubts going into that. That
didn't work all week.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Well, these awards shows, you know, I avoid them like
the plague, and they're no longer worth watching because they're woke,
and they have these self important celebrities, actors, actresses, directors,
aniana and they get up there and they virtue signal
of course, they slam Trump and they espouse all these
far left fews and probably going to give tribute to
zoron Mamdani next time there's one of those. And then
(02:22):
there's The SP's Last Night again, an awards show that
I usually avoid like the plague. But for Shane Gillis, who,
of course you may have known from his stand up
special on Netflix Beautiful Dogs, in which toward the end
he tells the story about the press conference that President
(02:42):
Trump gave when Abu Bakr al Bagdati was bummed de
smither rings by a robot and a dog and maybe
a robot dog.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
So there was that.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
And then there were the Trump shoes that sketch on
SNL again poking fun at Trump well at the same
time kind of a wink and a nod the shoes
gave President Trump. Those you know, they're ostentatious, they're available
for purchase still, they're kind of gold, they're over the
top all that, but it made you feel like you
were better than you were virtually everything. And that was
(03:16):
one of the most more hilarious sketches that we've seen
on SNL in quite some time. And then Shane Gillis
tabbed two hosts the SP's Last Night.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
And Zach, I know you're a big sports fan.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Usually you're in the control room you turn from Fox
News to ESPN.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
I'm aware of this. The choice to.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Have Shane Gillis host this last Night Chef's Kiss right, Oh,
he killed it.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
He was perfect. I love the homage to Norm McDonald.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
At the end.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
Anyways, so perfect because Norm McDonald's the only other comic
who's done that monologue in that style? And it was
so funny, And I think it gets so uncomfortable because
these athletes aren't used to being roasted like comedians are
actors or musicians even kind of get roasted from time
to time in their professions. Athletes never do their only
(04:04):
held up on a pedestal, which I think makes this
so great.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
That's a great point. And then there's the kind of
self awareness here. And he left no stone unturned, no
one was safe. He joked about Megan Rappino not being
there and that being a good thing. Oh you think
she's a good time? He said, she's the worst. Of course,
just say it. Everybody knows it. Everybody wants to hang
out with her. She's a bummer deal man. But then,
(04:29):
of course he set his sights here. This is so
genius on the WNBA four time.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
WNBA also a Britney Hicks is here.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Give it up for Brittany.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
Everybody, I'm joking around, that's my friend's wife.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
I knew none of you knew WNBA players. That's crazy.
You clap with it.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Ouch So many in that audience, Zach were zinged on
that one, because you know you want to make sure
that you're going along to get along and you're doing
the right and you're applauding for the.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Right thing, the end thing.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
And how many times have we seen this or if
you like the WNBA, that there's nothing wrong with that,
and young girls should aspire to be there.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
They've got a league of their own, so to speak,
et cetera.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
That's great, but you know, eyeballs to television sets, ticket sales,
et cetera, merchandise sales, you know. But for Caitlin Clark recently,
I mean, she's been kind of the iconic star of.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
That league pretty much.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Ever, you can go back before Zach was born, to
maybe Don Staley and Cheryl Swoops. And yes, I do
know some formative WNBA players Lisa Leslie back in the
day as well, Rebecca Lobo, But you know, Caitlin Clark's
on another level. And yet Shane Gillis introduces Brittney Hicks.
Is that even a real name? If it was, that's
even more hilarious because it's his friend's wife and just
(05:46):
used her actual name and she was waving in the camera.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
You remember that? Did you see that one?
Speaker 6 (05:49):
Zach?
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (05:50):
That was amazing.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
It just got everyone like, that's a joke on virtue signaling,
in my opinion, just like everyone wants to be in
on the joke, and he pointed out that they were
all out on the joke.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
On that one.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Kelly Cacerra, she's here gracing us with her presence in
a cameo role. Hey, Kelly, how many games have you
ever watched in your life?
Speaker 2 (06:10):
WNBA? Zero?
Speaker 3 (06:12):
How many portions of a game? WNBA have you ever watched?
Speaker 7 (06:16):
About thirty seconds?
Speaker 8 (06:18):
And that was because it was already on a channel
that I had just turned on the TV and immediately
got changed.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Okay, all right, five seven, seven thirty nine, if you
watched this show last night. If you didn't, we're giving
you the highlights, We're giving you a sampler platter from
the menu, and we're sticking with the WNBA. And this
was a great joke in spite of the league itself,
because again, this makes my head hurt, my head spin
just thinking about it.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
When Caitlin Clark retires from the WNBA, she's going to
work at a waffle house so she can continue doing
what she loves most, fist fighting black women.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Again, the uncomfortable laughter from the crowd Zach, you nailed it.
It's reminiscent of Norm McDonald in the late nineties when
he made the OJ joke about Charles Woods.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
So they know how to react. But this is true.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
I mean, the WNBA cannot succeed even in spite of itself,
because they vilify Caitlyn Clark.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Can I see this?
Speaker 9 (07:17):
Right?
Speaker 10 (07:17):
Was this?
Speaker 2 (07:17):
I don't know what say I and what's real? What's not?
Speaker 3 (07:20):
These days you do the cover of WNBA two K
whatever has Angel Rees on it instead of Caitlyn Clark
factor fiction.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
I believe that's true, which I thought was odd as well.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah. Yeah, it's like, why are they doing this?
Speaker 3 (07:35):
They go out of their way to avoid making Caitlin
Clark the signature star of a league that needs her
to succeed.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
And I agree with that the one thing I would say,
and it hasn't gotten a lot of coverage because she
is the WNBA's darling.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
There you go. But she's had a rough season this year.
Speaker 5 (07:50):
She's shooting like thirty seven percent from the field, twenty
nine percent from three. It hasn't lived up to her
amazing rookie year. That maybe defends the two K cover some,
but overall, I'm with you. Hasn't she been battling injuries too? Though,
I think I saw graphic that also is maybe, like
you know, Christian McCaffrey wasn't going to be on the cover.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Of Madden this year.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Yeah, well again, injury prone player. Right, they're great player,
but the injury prone. And there was a record like
Kate and Clark, Indiana fever record with her record without her,
she's been dinged up. Maybe that's affected her performance, but
she's still the face of the franchise here. And that
was a hilarious joke that Shane Gillis shared with us.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
And then there was this one.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
There were a couple of layers to it, and this
one's topical.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
Donald Trump wants to stage a UFC fight on the
White House lawn. The last time he staged a fight
in DC, Mike Pen's almost died. You don't have to
do that. It was fine. I didn't write it. Actually,
there was supposed to be an Epstein joke here, but
(08:55):
as it got deleted, must have probably deleted itself. Oh right,
it probably never existed. Actually, let's move on as a
country and ignore that. Uh again, this covers all bases.
Zach whether you support Trump, oppose him, hate him, love him,
whatever in between.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
That one landed for everybody.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
Oh, it was amazing. I thought that was such a
good joke. I liked the let's just move on and
forget about this is probably deleaded itself. I thought that
was a great tag.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Absolutely, And this goes to text five seven seven three
nine on the topic of Jeffrey Epstein. I think Van
Jones gets it right right here, and perhaps the other
panelists at CNN wouldn't try to understand this coming from
Van Jones.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Of course, he of the left.
Speaker 11 (09:42):
He told them that he was going to do something
he's afraid to do. Why is Trump afraid to release
these documents?
Speaker 2 (09:49):
That is a question.
Speaker 11 (09:51):
I have been defending Trump actually saying it's inconceivable of
anything in these documents. Got to hurt Trump because Biden
would have released them.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
But he's been Actually think that's true. Well, now he's
acting so weird.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Trump is acting so bizarre, Kelly, Why is Donald Trump
acting so weird?
Speaker 2 (10:07):
So bizarre?
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Ben Jones isn't wrong here, but he's he's done a
one eighty on the Epstein files themselves.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
What do you make of that?
Speaker 8 (10:13):
Well, I think he kind of doubled back himself when
he said, if there's something legitimate to release out there,
let's go ahead and do that. But apparently, you know
we he knows more than we do. So I don't
know what the motive is behind this, but it definitely
and like I said before, it's not a great look.
Speaker 7 (10:34):
It needs to be taken care of.
Speaker 8 (10:35):
And I'm actually pretty surprised that Pam Bondi hasn't come
out and actually spoke about this more more openly.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Well, I'll repeat the following, and that is Pam Bondy's
not doing anything without the sign off, approval, go ahead
of President Trump. As she's not going rogue, she's not
doing her own things. She's not in conflict with the
President or the Trump administration or anybody and leadership positions there.
She is simply carrying out the agenda that Donald Trump.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Wants her to do.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
And you can even say that it's the same as
Merrick Garland did for Joe Biden and that was his
kind of loyalty to the former president there. But here
are some comments that might shed some light maybe if
he parts through them a little bit. This is President
Trump appearing on a podcast I believe with journalists John
Solomon talking about whether or not the FBI should take
a look at the Epstein files, but more specifically, as
(11:30):
Trump puts at the Epstein hoax, what does he mean
by this, give it a listen.
Speaker 6 (11:34):
I think they're can look at all of it. It's
all the same scam. They could look at this Jeffrey
Epstein hoax also, because that's the same stuff that's all.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Put out by Democrats.
Speaker 6 (11:43):
Yeah, and you know, some of the naive Republicans fall
right into line, like they always do. They just don't
have the they don't have the sustainability. They don't have
there's something they don't have that sticktuitive like lou The Democrats,
you know, they have bad policy, they have bad candidates,
bad everything, but they stick together. The Republicans don't do that.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
But they are to look into the Jeffrey.
Speaker 6 (12:08):
Epstein hoax because that's another hoax that's frankly put out
by the Demo pushing, pushing the Republicans and put out
by the Democrats.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Now, where I think this worm turns is the gap
in time between when Trump left office Biden assumes office.
You know, Christopher Ray again, another one of Donald Trump's
disastrous appointments. He made several. That was one of them.
He was not a friendly, not to the Trump administration,
never was, and he was heading up the FBI taking
(12:38):
the reins from James Comey. And then were there the
four years We're gonna get into this a little bit too,
the four years under Joe Biden, in which at any
time the Democrats could have gone ahead and released the
Epstein files, and if Trump was in them, then that
would implicate him and that would maybe seal the deal
for him politically. But they didn't do that. But might
they have whitewashed them? Meaning we know that there was
(13:01):
a lot of incriminating information and documentation about President Bill
Clinton and his association with Epstein and his trips to
Epstein Island on the Lolita.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Express, et cetera.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
And that might lend itself to this comment here following
up from President Trump again in this interview with John Solomon, Well, I.
Speaker 6 (13:20):
Think it's in the case of Epstein, they've already looked
at it, and they are looking at it, and I
think all they have to do is put out anything credible.
But you know that was run by the Biden administration
for four years I can imagine what they put into files,
just like they did with the others. I mean, the
Sial dossier was a total fake. They have took two
years to figure that out to the people, and all
(13:43):
of the things that you mentioned were fake. So I
would imagine if.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
They were run by Chris Ray and they were run by.
Speaker 6 (13:50):
Comy, and because it was actually even before that administration,
they've been running these files, and so much of the
things that we found were fake. With me, but especially
you look at that Steele dossier where it paid like
fourteen or sixteen million, this more than James Batterson gets
paid to do a number one best seller, and the
thing turned out to be a total scam. So frankly, you.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Know, I think I love that they're looking at all this stuff.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
If they are, I hope they are.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
So that's the angle that President Trump's coming at it
from Kelly in that he's comparing it to the Steele dossier.
This manipulation of information from behind the scenes, the falsification
of the FISA warrants, all this stuff that was used
to be weaponized against him. He suspects, perhaps it seems
that they may have done the same with the Epstein files.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Does that add up to you?
Speaker 8 (14:41):
It could, And again let me reiterate what I said before.
This is also the FBI that planted evidence at the
marl Lago rate.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
There's another one pictures of it and admitted it after
the fact and.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
Also leaked it to the press.
Speaker 8 (14:58):
So I think we have to take everything right now
with a grain of salt when the FBI is involved, because,
as he just stated, we just don't know, We have
no idea what's in those files. It could have been
you mentioned whitewashing, There could have been a complete scrub
of Bill Clinton's name and some of the other generous donors,
(15:21):
and that we just have to wait and see.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Are you ready for some actual journalism from Joe Scarborough
of all people MSNBC?
Speaker 8 (15:32):
Well, I don't think that's going to knock your socks
off right here.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Why is this important?
Speaker 9 (15:37):
Because the sexual abuse of young people and children is
a crisis throughout our society. There's of course the church
scandal or many church scandals.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
There's what happened in Michigan State.
Speaker 9 (15:49):
There's what happened at Ohio State.
Speaker 6 (15:51):
The Congress again that from twenty one to twenty five.
Speaker 7 (15:54):
When Democrats controlled the OJ.
Speaker 9 (15:58):
Why it was a christ then it's a crisis.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Now ooh, that sounds like a valid question.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
They had four years to release these if that's what
they wanted to do, Why didn't that happen? Representative Jamie Raskin,
who you just heard Democrat Maryland.
Speaker 6 (16:12):
Why didn't Democrats call far from twenty one to twenty five?
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Listen to how ham handed in hammaa hammaa hammada that
Representative Raskin gets right here.
Speaker 9 (16:22):
So I mean you have to go back and look
specifically at particular prosecutorial decisions and what was taking place
in terms of the other cases. So I don't know,
we could try to reconstruct that record. But the point
is is that Donald Trump is the one who has
led the crusade to say that that Epstein, who was
(16:46):
his very close friend, and there's all kinds of pictures
of dem and so on, common Epstein was at the
center of this broad conspiracy. He's now in a position
to do exactly what he demanded, which was to release
all of the files.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
And so why is that not happening?
Speaker 9 (17:01):
That's the question I can't answer for Merrick Garland or
any of you know, anybody else in the Department.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
Of Justice Keilly, What do you make of that response?
And why are the Democrats so hot to trot on this.
Speaker 7 (17:11):
Issue all of a sudden, Well, they did have four years,
they did.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
But why are they so hot on this issue now?
Speaker 8 (17:16):
Well, because it makes Trump look bad, because it's the
one thing that they have. Because Trump has had so
many wins in the first few months of his presidency,
they don't have anything to cling on to to make
him look bad. So this gives them a perfect latitude
to actually go out there and speak ill of this
whole Epstein fiasco. And that's one of the reasons why
(17:37):
I think Trump is pushing back on them and basically saying, Okay, well,
if you're going to make me look bad, I'm going
to turn around and put it back on you, because
who knows what you guys did. And if you remember correctly,
this is also not only the mar Lago raid, but
if you remember when Biden's doctors went in front and
had his aides and to Biden's aid, went in front
(18:01):
of the Congressional committee to testify about Biden's capacity to
actually do the job, they all plugged the fifth Why
would they do that? You don't do that unless it's
self incriminal.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Why wouldn't you just affirm? Now, of course President Biden's
common Really.
Speaker 8 (18:15):
I think it's very very valid that he has concerns
about the government before that he has now inherited and
he's trying to clean up. And I think that's why
Bongino and Pam Bondi got in to a little bit
of palace intrigue. We don't really know what's going on
behind the scenes, but we shall find out.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Well, you and I are both Republicans, and we both
support Donald Trump and have so three times, even though
we both vehemently disagree with how the Epstein.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Files are being handled. So let's include that in our equation.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
Do you overall approve of the job that President Trump
has done to this point since being sworn in, Kelly,
Yes or no? Absolutely, Yes, we do, and I do
as well. And that goes to this point from Harry
Anton of CNN.
Speaker 12 (18:56):
I mean, look, I think this one surprised me a
bit because of all all these complaints online going after
Trump and the Xtein files. You might think his approval
ratings were going down with Republicans.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
If anything, they're going up.
Speaker 12 (19:08):
Republicans who approve of Trump Look at our CNN poll,
the prior one to eighty six percent, the one out
this week.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Eighty eight percent with Republicans.
Speaker 12 (19:14):
How about Quinnipiac the prior poll eighty seven percent approval
of Republicans, this week out ninety percent with Republicans. If anything,
Donald Trump's approval rating has gone up since this whole
Epstein saga started.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
He is at the apex or.
Speaker 12 (19:28):
Close there too, in terms of his popularity with Republican voters.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
Epstein files complaints or not, so the numbers actually went up.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
How about congressional Dems.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Congressional Democrats have been trying to seize on this. You
hear them also parenting what you're hearing online, saying.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Release the files. This terrible blah blah blah. I mean,
is that working for them? No?
Speaker 12 (19:48):
I mean, look here here, here's what's so important. You know,
we talk about the potential of Republicans leaving Donald Trump.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
They're not leaving them.
Speaker 12 (19:54):
But what about congressional Democrats and problems with their own
base Democrats and that approval of congressional Democrat that's according
to Quinnipiac University in June of twenty twenty five, it
was their second worst ever, at minus twelve.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Points, it's not not low enough for you. How about
we go even lower? In July of twenty twenty five.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
Minus thirteen points, they're minus thirteen for the Congressional Dems.
Jimmy Sangeberger of The Gazette joining us next with his

(21:40):
none the wiser, and yes you heard that here first.
Despite protestations from Dan Kaplis to the contrary, the Attorney
General proved me more right than I believed that I was,
because he truly is none the wiser.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
His political instincts are.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Horrible, and he may as well have just handed over
the nomination for governor to Senator Michael Bennett in a
series of actions, the first of which you could say
was him refusing to call out Bennett for holding on
to his Senate seat to be elected as governor, to
which he then would then appoint his own replacement. That
(22:15):
there would be dual tracks going on here, that there
would be an inherent conflict of interest, of course, that
Bennett couldn't possibly serve the people of Colorado in a
full capacity while running for governor. So why wouldn't he
just resign the Senate seat allow his political ali and friend,
Jared Polis, to appoint a Democrat, And maybe it would
even be Phil Wiser. Wiser might stand to gain from this,
(22:38):
and yet he refused to call Bennett out. Wiser did
on that issue. The only kind of political hay he
could have made was trying to draw a distinction to
gain some traction between himself and the overwhelming presumptive favorite
to earn the Democrat nomination and win the election, outright,
Michael Bennett.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
So he didn't do that.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
The latest this from Jimmy Sangenberger in the Gazette entitled
Wiser defends discredited regent, Let's down see you, And it
wasn't just Jimmy commenting on this. This sparked a Gazette
editorial along these lines saying, Colorado ag goes rogue for
a rogue CEEU regent, joining us to talk about this
(23:23):
political calculation or miscalculation, as I should say by Phil none,
The Wiser is Jimmy Sangenberger can follow him on x
at sang Center, scnng CE n ter. He joins us
now in Ryan Schuling Live. Jimmy, Welcome, what's going on?
Speaker 10 (23:39):
Ryan? How are you? Brother?
Speaker 3 (23:40):
I've just shaken my head at this, and I'm trying
to understand, just from a strictly left brain logical strategic standpoint,
what's in it for Phil Wiser to do this, to.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Take this stance.
Speaker 10 (23:53):
You know Wanda James, the c regent in question, who
was just centured and sanctioned by her colleagues a couple
of weeks ago. She is very in tune with a
lot of folks on the far left base. And I
think this was probably two things. One a bass play
by Wiser and number two that he has a working,
(24:17):
long standing relationship with Wanda James and probably was coming
in to help a little bit for an help out
a bit for an ally. And I agree with you,
I do think that was stupid, a very bad miscalculation,
particularly because the censer vote we're talking about against Wanda
(24:39):
James was a bipartisan decision from Democrats and Republicans and
the whole process was shepherded by the chair from older
of all places of the Chboard of Regions, Callie Renaissance.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Now, Jimmy, can you walk us through exactly how Phil
Weiser went to bat for Wanda James Eames, what his
reasoning was behind that, what he said.
Speaker 10 (25:04):
Yeah, So he went on to x in a Sunday
night series of tweets. I think he put out four
parts in a thread and basically he bought bookline and
sinker and spewed out Wanda James line that when she
went after a program being put on by the Colorado
(25:27):
School of Public Health called t on THHC all about
informing the public, particularly kids and pregnant mothers, about the
risks of high potency THCHC. And keep in mind, Wanda
James is not only a Sea regent, she is a
pot dealer, legal pot dealer in that she's got her
own pot shop and she has made history is becoming
(25:51):
the first black owned plot shop in the entire country
of a legal marijuana establishment. So Phil Wiser framed this
sense her as a First Amendment issue, saying that when
she went after the program t on THHC and tried
to get its funding pulled crying racism, but also talking
(26:12):
about junk science, and this was just free expression. He
even went and think about this, Brian, in the context
of the left and President Trump. He said, quote, neither
a White House executive orderer nor a public university policy
can override this fundamental right, comparing the CENIU Board of
(26:33):
Reaches to Trump, which, oh my gosh, could you imagine
how the Democrats would take something like that. And then
he basically said, you should reverse the censure and you
need to act may in essence more like adults, which
is weird coming from somebody defending one to James.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Again, I'm trying to walk through this.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
Jimmy Steckenberger doing his level best to present it in
the Gazette. You can read that as well, entitled Wewiser
defends discredited regent, Let's down see you, and in fact
the Gazette editorial board joining in that chorus as well.
So again, let's focus on what is Phil Wiser doing
and why is he doing it? You mentioned earlier he
has a personal, long standing relationship on a professional level
(27:17):
with Wanda James, maybe an alliance therein and wanted to
be a good soldier for the cause with her. However,
you mentioned this being a bass play, Jimmy, I would
offer that it's a fringe play.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
And even if maybe he's doing this to run in
a lane to.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
The left of Michael Bennett, which good luck with that,
I guess, but appeal to that Denver Boulder corridor. But
in this manner with this person, is she worth it?
Is this a hillworth dying on or spending political capital on.
When let's rewind a little bit, Jimmy, you told us
this story when it first broke, and you had a
great article about it the Seaboard of Regents. This was
(27:52):
a bipartisan rebuke of James correct including Democrats.
Speaker 10 (27:57):
Yes, well, it's a bipartisan rebukes at Governor Pollis has
publicly opposed. Then you had Shad Marie, the chairman of
the Colorado Democrat Party, come out and retweet Wanda rather
retweet Phil Wiser, saying he agrees with Wiser and thinks
that should be reversed. And so Wanda retweets the chair
(28:17):
of the state Democrats and says, well, all the Democrats
are supporting me against the other regents. So take that basically,
it's what she said. So I actually feel like some
are circling the wagons and others are more being more
smart about it and distancing themselves.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Tervy Seckenberger, our guest.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
He talks about the constitutionality of the First Amendment here,
and you mentioned kind of Trump in all of this.
Do you recall, and I'm trying to dial back in
my mind as well. We know that as Secretary of State,
Jenna Griswold, who will be running for ag to replace
Phil Wiser as Wiser runs for governor. They're both looking
to take a step up in the political world and
with their careers and their aspirations. But Jenna Griswold was
(29:01):
lockstep in position of the lawsuit file to remove.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Donald Trump from the ballot.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
I mean, really eradicating the constitution and the right of
the people to choose through a vote who they want
to be president and taking that choice away from us.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Did Phil Wiser take a public stance at that time?
Do you remember?
Speaker 10 (29:21):
Oh? Gosh, I think he might have been supportive, but
I can't recall. I do recall him.
Speaker 6 (29:28):
You know.
Speaker 10 (29:28):
It took a while until he finally reached a settlement
deal with Jack Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cake Shop, but
Of course, phil Wiser was very very critical on that
stance in terms of, oh, you really got to bake
the cake. Even if you disagree, we're going to force
you to do it. So the idea that he's suddenly
all about free expression in this context it seems to
(29:50):
be a little bit convenient at the moment, but it's
also really striking. One other important point is that, constitutionally
is the attorney General Phil Wiser is is the lawyer
for the University of Colorado. The university's council is basically
designated by Wiser and his office to serve out those duties,
(30:11):
but officially, because CU is the state institution established in
the Constitution, that means he is essentially going against his
own clients and accusing them of violating the constitution. And
I don't think that's such a good idea.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Finally, Jimmy political analysis here.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
That's why you're here, That's why we are here, that's
why the listeners are tuning in for Phil Wiser.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
He makes this move.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Okay, nothing's done without some level of political calculation what it.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Might do and what it might not do. Does this
move the needle in any way for Phil Wiser?
Speaker 3 (30:44):
Does it backfire and costume support for maybe a center
left that's deciding who do I go with Phil Wiser?
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Do I go with Michael Bennett?
Speaker 3 (30:51):
What do you think will be the political fallout of this,
what happens next?
Speaker 10 (30:55):
I kind of think on how it comes down more
to how much attention this gets, how much awareness there
is about the story and about his particular stand on this,
if it gets out there quite a bit. I do
think at backfires. I think it was one of those
decisions where it's like, why are you going on a
(31:17):
limb for somebody who was clearly self dealing? And Phil
Wiser you have talked about, and look, I have liked
still over the years. We've gotten along well. I've interviewed
him in the past. We've had some good conversations. But
his whole idea and premise of bipartisanship that he at
least likes to talk about and pay lip service to,
(31:39):
is totally undermined by him outright condemning a censor vote
that was entirely bipartisan in nature and one that fits
with the facts, which somehow he seems not to have
done his due diligence at all on the basic fact
of the case. And that's the most striking thing for
(32:02):
the guy who again is constitutionally the lawyer for the
University of Colorado.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
There it is read more about it in the gazette.
Wiser defends discredited regent. Let's down see you and that's
our own. Jimmy Sangenberger often a fill in host on
this program. Be sure to follow him on x at

would fantasize about her at a young age, before I
even knew what to do with a girl. And I thought,
you know, her name is Elizabeth Shoe, and if we
got married, she wouldn't have to change much.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
It would just add the liing to the end. I
really thought that out.
Speaker 7 (34:27):
No, that's very clever.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
I know.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
Well, thank you appreciate that.

for that? Was Kelly, Kelly, defend yourself.
Speaker 7 (34:42):
Hold on, what was you?
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (34:44):
Texture dips?
Speaker 2 (34:45):
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa? Okay, it's improved. Well, let mean
maybe there's the middle ground here I can negotiate. Huh huh.
Speaker 10 (34:52):
Holda.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
They did admit to staging the photographs, correct, right, so
that's what you're referring to.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Yes, not that there was evidence planted it.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Necessarily, but it was staged in such a way that
it's not how they naturally found a meaning. They were
trying to imply that Trump left these documents, you know,
scattered about everywhere.
Speaker 8 (35:08):
Willie nilly, all over the place, in the bathroom, in
the bathket gold toilet.
Speaker 7 (35:12):
Whole thing.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (35:14):
Yeah, so, oh gosh, semantics their texture.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Let's go to Bob and Arvada the Epstein Hot Potato
Circle catch. It seems that there may be a lot
of people, both parties and lots of others participating in
this game. That is probably a reason for the hot
potato stumble. We're watching, Bob. That's a good analogy. I
like that, Kelly, real quick uber driver. This morning was
interesting for you right coming on in.
Speaker 8 (35:34):
Well, I wouldn't call it interesting, of course, it was interesting.
Well let's see, she was my age, okay, she had
green streaks in her hair.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
Awesome.
Speaker 7 (35:46):
And so upon finding out.
Speaker 8 (35:50):
Where I worked, she basically said, oh, I listened to KOA,
I love Colorado Morning News.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Okay, very cool.
Speaker 8 (36:01):
I actually work on the other side at khow and
as I and I quote, oh.
Speaker 7 (36:08):
You're one of those.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Yeah, we're one of these. Yeah, I like it, Yeah,
I wear it.
Speaker 8 (36:12):
But the part about it is that she went on
she actually listens.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
To the show.
Speaker 7 (36:18):
To this show, remember her first name, so I think
it was I.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Say hi to her right now if she's tuning in.
She said, I was like angry or something.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
I'm that angry.
Speaker 7 (36:28):
Yeah you're not.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
I have fun. It's a fun show. Yeah, it's funny
stuff like Shane Gillis to start. Come on, she's not
satisfied with us.
Speaker 7 (36:34):

Speaker 3 (36:35):
I totally blocked HERU you need to stop spacing out
on stuff like that.
Speaker 7 (36:39):

Speaker 3 (36:42):
No, not that, I'm just saying I want to say
hello to her and thanks for tuning in, even though
she probably has what to coexists bumper sticker on the
back of her car.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Did she have that anything like that?
Speaker 7 (36:53):
No, she had Biden Harris, Biden Harris.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
Do you know what you want to know? A simple
fun fact. I was a previous in a previous life
Uberlyft driver. Not supposed to have stuff like that in
your car, political or otherwise. That's really that's not exactly kosher.
Speaker 7 (37:06):
Well, she's not gonna get.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Like, you know, the same token.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
If I were using my car still for uber Lyft,
I wouldn't put like political bumper stickers on.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Them, because you know, you really start that.
Speaker 8 (37:15):
I want to kind of start off a conversation with
your writer.
Speaker 7 (37:19):
I don't know what you call.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Well, that's another thing they tell you in the instructional
videos is don't get into politics, you know, politics.
Speaker 8 (37:26):
Religions you I mean, don't don't like disparage the stay
out of it.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
