Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hour number two Saturday Morning open phones. I'm Dan Boots
and I'm always watching by the Metalwarth Company, protected by
a tattletale from the Heartlan Bank Studios and the phone
number six one four eight to one nine eight eighty six.
Big car show today in Grove City starts around three pm.
We'll do trophies round seven pm. We'll have our Honor
Flight golf cart on display. Twenty dollars per ticket, fifteen

(00:23):
thousand dollars golf cart pretty loaded up street legal twenty
five thirty mile hour, which is unreal. When you established thing,
it's still like you're in a rocket ship. But you
can always just get online and go Honor Flight Columbus
and on a home page right in the middle he
hit click on win golf cart. Registered to win golf cart.
I should say so. Anyway, let's go back to the
phone lines. Go to John. Good morning, John.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Hey, boost is calling in about the ridiculous you know
what's going on with the police officers getting shot.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
The one thing that gets me is is I listen
to a online and if you listen to some of
the silly calls that they send the police to when
they could actually be out there helping each other with
these crazy calls. That's getting them killed. You know, it's

(01:20):
unbelievable the things they're asked to do. Hey, we're checking in.
They tell them, you know, you know, car one has
a shotgun, Car two has two people's two rifles. YadA,
YadA YadA. And then you hear the disc factors say, well,
we need you at Mount Carmel, we need you at
Doctors West, we need you here for guard duty. What

(01:49):
you know, I don't understand. You're pulling police officers off
the street that could be helping each other for hospital guards.
You know what, hospitals make so much money, go get
your own guards.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Yeah, that's that's a that's a valid point. Absolutely. I
don't Well they they you got turned the throw the
attorneys in there. If the hospitals higher force, like a
guy or girl with a gun and a taser. The
minute crackhead Johnny comes in there and he's totally misunderstood
and they do their job, then they got to write

(02:24):
a bigger check. You're right, the world's just out of control.
There's no common sense whatsoever.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
No, I just you know, we need to get it back.
You know, when domestic violence calls. Those are absolutely the worst.
You know, if you get those guys out of the
hospital on the street, how about you send two or
three cops to the front door on a domestic call,

(02:51):
and guns are already drown So if you call us, hey,
we're coming, We're fully armed and we're ready to blast.
You know, we've got to.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Do something yours. I don't know. Sometimes I always so
say that things will fix itself, But man, I'm getting
to the point now where I don't know if they
will fix herself because the kids have no respect they
you know. I saw the other day. I was driving
down one sixty one over off east of seventy one,

(03:22):
and it's this young man of color was walking. His
pants were falling down. He had his cell phone in
his right hand. He's holding his pants up in his
left hand because his pants are falling down. Now I
get I guess it's a cool thing, But my pants
fall down because I get a belly. I tighten up

(03:42):
my belt when that happens. I don't know who said
this was cool. I don't get it that that describes
so much. I have two guys at my rod Shot
that walk around with their pants falling down. I scream
at him, and yeah, like what are you doing? You
look stupid?

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Right, We just you know, there's ways to improve what's
going on. It's just, you know, we have a bunch
of lazy democrats run in this city that I don't
see it happening.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
I died a buddy that said he was agnostics for years,
he wasn't, wasn't atheist, but he's agnostic. I believe or
the power. I said, look, why don't you just go ahead,
go with the flow. Because you say you don't believe
in the Bible, say you don't believe in what's doing
right from wrong, it sometimes will help you maybe if
doing right from wrong, just little things. You know, I

(04:39):
don't necessarily believe those arc happened, but you know what,
it's a good story, and it makes us protect animals.
It makes us better people. I don't know. It sounds
a little fictitious to me, but again I don't judge.
I'm just like, Okay, the earth was flooding and he
saved the animals and they're still here for us to
have dinner and have pets and live the life we live.
And okay, I get it. Why fight, you know, take

(05:01):
the high road, Be nice, don't worry, be happy. I
don't know my making sense. I like holding doors for
old ladies. I do. I like saying how are you today?

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Yeah, bring it back, hold the door for people. Thank people.
You know it's I don't know. Like you said the parentine,
there is no such thing anymore. Parentine is gone. Their
friends could care less.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
I had a cousin smoke weed with her daughter when
she was My cousin was proud of the fact that
she goes, well, she's going to do it anyway, she
might as well do it with me. I said, that's
the dumbest thing I ever heard of. No one's going
to sell me that marijuana is a good thing. No
one ever sold me the alcohol is a good thing either.
You know, I drink beer. I'm sorry, but you know,

(05:49):
smoking weed, everyone's smoking weed. Now, you pull up to
a traffic light, the car in front of you, chances
are it's going to smell like thirty skunks in a trunk.
Have you noticed that? Oh yeah, and their tags expired?

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Yeah? Yeah, makes no sense.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
We soundly grumpy old guys, don't we.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
I am a grumpy old guy.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
I guess I'm getting there and you've watched that place.
How about this one? How it's talking about Grove City,
who in their right mind brought in Walmart, which is fine,
I have no problem with Walmart. And then we better
expand Stringtown Road and then still have that Goofy Lane

(06:38):
to the right. When you when you're coming southbound on
seventy one you get off Stringtown Road. Nowhere, I think
it's a snowco right there. There used to be like
a Perkins back in there. I think TJ's Country. Try
to get through that intersection with your with your civilized brain.
Whoever came up with all this, I'm like, what what?

(06:59):
What bong? Were you hitting? And then you sit. I
can drive from Westernville to Grove City in twenty minutes.
It takes me twenty minutes to get over to I
don't know, say.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
To Hoover Road.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Yeah yeah, there you go. Yeah yeah, it takes just
as long. But no one says anything. But there's signs
saying you can't make a left turning, can't ready to nobody.
And then everyone goes up in front of that Windy's
in the old Fiesta Marriotti or whatever that intersection there
and they bottle it all up and won't let anyone
out of Tim Hortons or Wendy's or whatever all that is.
Can't let him out because I'm here first.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Yep, it's just.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Then go over to two fifty six. If you really
want to torture yourself, get in your car after a
stringtown road and drive over to two fifty six at
three point thirty in the afternoon and try to get
off Interstate seventy. Try to make it down towards Pickerington.
It's a nightmare.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Oh no, oh no, you're talking to him Bryce right.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Oh yeah, no, Off of fifty one east to Bryce
Road to fifty six. Then drive up the Sawmill Road
on a Saturday afternoon, come northbound on Sawmill Road and
try to get through the intersections. It's beautiful, but the
official it's like nobody sits back and designs us but
build a giant shopping center and then tear it all

(08:20):
back down to expand the roads to get me even
more traffic jamps, and don't fix bottles.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Absolutely alright, brother, that holds five thousand cars and there's
never five thousand cars there.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yeah, yep, even my buddy was a You've got many
restings throws some piece he passed away, but he was
a quadriplegic. He goes, you know, I like all this
handicapped parking, but he goes, there's none for me. And
all these fat people smoking cigarettes are get all handicapped
parking lots and I can't even get my wheelchair out
of my van. I'm like, well, well, welcome to the
world we're in.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Alright, Hey, you.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Called back next week?

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah, we'll see it all.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Right, take CAARTI is Saturday morning. Hones On dam Boots,
Always brought to you by the Metal Roof Company, Always Protected,
Buy the undefeated American mateo out Tale, never meat. Three
tornadoes still called the police from Harlem Back Studios on
THEWS radio six to ten WTVN go back phone lines
go to Harry. Good morning, Harry, and how you do.
I'm good.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Hey, I'm calling on behalf of the Open Shold. We're
an agency here in Columbus, Ohio that helps the homeless
and Marjorie House and we are trying to find ten
volunteers to round out an opportunity we have at Red
White and Boom staffing the beer tents and stations there. So,

(09:39):
like I said, we're just trying to find ten volunteers
are willing to help us out the evening of July third,
And if anyone has any interest, if they're able to help,
or if they have any questions, they can call or
text me at six one four five six two two
one sixty nine. And they can also find out more

(10:01):
about us at theopenshelter dot org.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Okay, and what do they exactly do on real waiting?

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Boom, Well, we're gonna be serving beer. They're gonna be
a serving beer to the people at Red White and
Boom that evening.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Make a lot of mind help go ahead, I'm sorry,
it'll make you a lot of money to help the homeless.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
I hope. So that's what we're hoping, hope, And we're
hoping that there's a good weather first and foremost a
yearning and a lot of people. There's usually always a
lot of people, but hopefully it's good weather so people
will turn out, hang out, enjoy the festivities and obviously
the fireworks. But yeah, hopefully we can make a lot

(10:42):
of money, much needed funds for our agency and for
our mission of us staying behind with those left behind.
And like I said, if anyone has any questions or
any interest. Yeah, they can call or text me at
six one four five six two one six nine and
find out more about what we do, more than I

(11:04):
can explain here at Theopensholter dot org.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
So okay, that Roway and Boom and someone come get
a cold one. Where do they go?

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Well, apparently we're going to be right there on the
bridge there at Broad and Civic Center. That bridge there,
we're gonna have three locations there. There's a fourth one
that apparently is close to Kassi Uh at the park there.
So we're going to have four four beer stations and
tents that we're going to be staffing in. We've had

(11:36):
some volunteers come out for some volunteers the step step
up for us excuse me, and we're just trying to
kind of round it out and get those last ten
volunteers to get everything set.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Okay, Buddy, I appreciate to call. Thank you calling, make
sure we call in before the right way and Boom
so we keep pumping it for you.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Okay, Well, we'll look can to kind of line everyone
up by the beginning of next week so I can
let Red White and Boom know how many we have
and all the people that have stuffed up. But thanks
for letting me the spread.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
All right, take care of us. Go to Jesse.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Good morning, Jesse Boom, Good morning.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
I'm just calling to defend Ohio Health been my employer
for the last thirty years. And that last caller that
said talked about hiring police for the hospitals. I just
want to make everybody aware that we have our own
protective services department huge every single hospital there, A lot

(12:43):
of them are former law enforcements that have chose to
come to work for Ohio Health.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
We have.

Speaker 4 (12:50):
Drug sniffing dogs and our emergency departments, our officers.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Our officers are all armed.

Speaker 6 (12:57):
We have.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
We don't use the City.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
Of Columbus police officers.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
Now, let me tell you if you do see police
cars out there, sometimes when they bring in a criminal,
they have the jurisdiction over that patient and they get
to stand guard over that criminal's room. They take over
when they bring somebody in like that. But we do
not hire them to do security for us. We have

(13:25):
a very very extensive security. It's called our protective services.

Speaker 6 (13:32):
And yeah, they are all armed.

Speaker 5 (13:34):
And like I said, you know, I can't speak to
the other healthcare system in Central Ohio. But I can
tell you that all eleven Ohio Health hospitals have their
own protective services.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
We have and they not only do they monitor the hospital, they.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Monitor parking lots. They have cameras everywhere. I mean, they
do a great job of protecting all the patients and
families that come in, uh and in the surrounding areas.
But yeah, I just I just want to clarify that
because they do a great job of protecting the staff
and the patients and families, and I don't want people
to think that they're utilizing the Columbus Police Department because

(14:14):
they're not.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Yeah, oh no, that's okay. Ye I'm glad you call it,
because I don't know. I was like, okay, but yeah,
you do see. You know, I will tell you this.
I was on a fire department right along and this
skuy growing overdosed and it became a crime. I believe
that's why the police had to come to that one.
And maybe that's the point you think, maybe that's the

(14:36):
point he was making that it's a shame or wasting
police on that type of stuff. Maybe that's weird.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
I don't know, right that becomes a city of Columbus
police department situation. And that's why that's the same thing.
If you see a cruiser that's following an ambulance, it's
because they're bringing somebody in that was a criminal or
a purp or whatever. They they they've got DIBs.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
On that that person and they're gonna stay with that
person until that person's release from the hospital. Yeah we
didn't maybe yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Not sticking up for him. But maybe he was just
you know, good blanketing a statement saying that we waste
our resources. And maybe he maybe recently he ran into officers,
a bunch of cruisers talking doing exactly what you're saying,
you know what I mean. So but he says, he
says he follows the scanner. So now you're saying that

(15:31):
because now you said that because a good friend of mine,
his wife was down at Riverside and man, they put
me through the ringer to get in there eleven o'clock
at night, and I was okay with it. I want
them to do that. I have no problem with rules
and regulations. You know, I don't like the airport security either,
but you know what, I also don't want to get
blown up in a plane. So exactly, you know, there's

(15:51):
just certain things. But now here's where I get Here's
where I get upset. And you've probably heard me say this,
those security guards if unfortunately, if a bad guy comes
in there and they have to use deadly force, you
guys are going to get sued and the bad guy
will be the hero. Per media, fake news and the

(16:12):
way the attorney's licked their chops on that, it's sad.
It should be like this guy, this guy came in
held a gun at us, and our guy shot and
killed him and get the get the bag and toe
tag out and put him in the mord. I have
no problem with that if you're that dumb, But they'll
make that officer a bad guy.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
Yeah, And and you know, keep in mind that the
especially the emergency department staff, they get threatened all the
time by these thugs that they bring in these thugs,
and these thugs, you.

Speaker 5 (16:42):
Know, threaten the staff that's trying to help them.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
So no, you know, they do a fabulous job, and
they work in conjunction with the Columbus Police, but we
don't fire the police to.

Speaker 5 (16:53):
Do any of our protectives.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
That's I appreciate that, Jesse. And I'll tell you this,
Remember Bob Kendry got suspended for calling the Rioters animals
because they're on the hood of the news truck beating
the windshield in with a skateboard. I'm not a smart man,
but I will tell you that you're an animal if
you're on a hood of a car smashing with people
in it with a skateboard. They made it or they

(17:18):
twisted the word. So thanks Jesse, thanks for love. I
love common sense and facts. You rock. Let's go, Let's
go to break. This is Dan Boots. I'm brought to
you by the metalo of company always picked by the
Nfeed American May Tattletale from the Hartlebck Studios on news
Radio six ten w TV. In eight we got Auto
Smarts comping. Next, I got uh Kimberly Hyatt coming in
from the avenue. We changed gears a little bit. We're

(17:42):

I from Western Automotive, we do a lot for our
veterans and uh they've got some help for PTSD. We're
going to cover that because you know, it is an
auto show, but we do have a lot of older gentlemen,
a lot of veterans and you know a lot of
them have cars and a lot of them too in
and I have some ideas for him. Honor Flight, like

(22:04):
BLOWHARD i, MEAN i gotta say, that but he's talking

Few he exaggerates a little.

Speaker 8 (22:13):
Bit, yeah always he does you, know everything's, best the,
Beautiful he's the, best the, best, Whatever and we put
up with that because you, KNOW i do think especially
between the two choices we. Had but in, GENERAL i
Think trump is A i think he means. Well and
the tariffs are starting to. WORK i think last month,
ALONE i think the tariffs were twenty four. BILLION i

(22:33):
think that was the first full month a month before
of a seventeen billion that was brought into THE us
treasury through. Tariff so, anyway just, Wonder, Hey, PAUL.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
I gotta tell you, this the two hardest people to
manage in management are rich kids that had everything handed
to them and poor kids that were taught that everybody owes.
Them the middle of the, road hard working, families or
people that were in football or marching band and had
some sort of extra fun in. School those are the

(23:03):
easy people to. Manage but the rich little punk kids
like the liberals up and well and what's best for
people of color when they've never even had a friend
of color or been around a person like. That or
the poor people that's, like, well just live off the.
System everybody owes you because everything we've been through or
whatever happened in our life From appalachia to the hood to.

(23:26):
Whatever those are the two hardest people to. Manage you
get a nice middle of the road, person, man they're a.
Breeze they just want to make a good, living go,
home be left. Alone those are the best people to.

Speaker 8 (23:34):
Manage what about what real? Quick what about the Small
catholic schools where you got to play both sides of
the line and be in the.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Band that's. OKAY i had a real close friend of
mine growing. Up his mom said he'd only play football
if he was in the marching band and Called Buckeye
south that those days they were called the, rebels which
you can do that. Nowadays and he marched at halftime
in his shoulder pads and always he's teasing cake as
he the heck of a. Guy and he turned out
to be a great human. Being but he had football

(24:04):
in his blood and marching, band and that's two things
that are pretty hard to. Do so, anyway Thanks, paul
we'll talk to. Me god bless you, guys have a good, time,
Right god bless. You let's go To wendy and we're
gonna Say mark for we'll go to, Break we'll go to,

(25:06):

Speaker 9 (25:08):
Morning wells you just hit on something that has really really.
Happened there was a marching band member that wore uniforms
and he marched to the marching plan because he guided
a blind marching ban. Member this is a true. Story
AND i WISH i remembered her, names but they say

(25:30):
what instrument you played? In he'd say her. Name there you,
go because he led her so that she can. March
and that's WHAT i sort of wanted to talk about
because ad experience with a family, member and we set
an example on what we listened to and what we

(25:51):
allow into our. Realm and she was going to do
the talent show and she had no idea what she was.
Singing and she was not allowed to sing her solo
in the talent show because there was a word in.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
It uh oh what was? There A god word in? It, NO.

Speaker 9 (26:13):
I did not know that this. Was nobody considers this
a bad. Word, Anyway she was saying things AND i, said,
sweetheart do you know what you just? Said AND i,
think tell her just what that, means since she went
in like so. Wow so the music you listen, to

(26:37):
that's an example for your. Family you might want to
listen to the WORDS i had to tell a restaurant
THAT i would not bring my, family not because their
food isn't, great because it is because the, music because
those words mean. Things AND i went to start my
day happy and, positive and you, know cheating and all

(26:58):
that lovely stuff doesn't set a mood for. Me and so,
also you, KNOW i did a little volunteer work for a.
Pantry it's Called. Nash it's. VETERANS i mean they asked
for A department Of defense, number and they are real deal.
People and this one of the things that annoys. Me

(27:20):
nothing with, children, nothing people that can't defend, themselves and
people waiting to. Die, okay because you can go To
jess serve AND i had a little time because WHAT
i normally DO i couldn't do because of. Maintenance SO
i went there and it's a real. Deal they went
to deliver stuff From Memorial day and they came back

(27:44):
devastated because they had this beautiful package with a little
flag cloth and books and snacks and, everything and there
was a veteran there that died and his family wasn't
there and they could not deliver the. Package and they
that's what they participate in honor. Flight it's called The Mash.

(28:06):
Pantry real deal not, well you know, greenhouses these people.
Work when you find an organization where everybody's doing everything they,
can't that's sort of rare because you, KNOW i do zero,
funds and BUT i can donate things to this pantry
AND i know where it. Goes AND i just want

(28:30):
you TO i just want people to remember that there
are people that were willing to give their, lives and
there were people that did And i'm SORRY i met,
you And god bless. Everybody remember what example you, said
and don't don't model wasting time for the next. Generation

(28:52):
don't model it and.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
Be nice all rights hold it the or for, somebody
what do you think about that that would be? Horrible
or maybe if someone had a flat, tire help them change,
it or just maybe walk by someone say how are you?
Today when someone looks grumpy walking towards me and they
get like tell they put their head down and don't

(29:16):
want to interact with another human, being, like, hey how
are you? Today? Man, OKAY i got a question for. You,
yeah do you walk by women and tell them to? Smile,
no that's kind of creepy old guy. Stuff thank? You, Okay,
now now IF i know like it was you AND
i and you walk by me, like what's Your? Parlmela,

(29:37):
WELL i would much rather somebody be, like what's your? Problem,
yeah well you be so grumpy today for? Now. Yeah,
NO i would never do. THAT i just, go, hey
how are you doing? TODAY i do. That Or i'm
like if they look, happier their kids are, cute and
they look like they took a bath in the last.
WEEK i, MEAN i don't you, know little things like,
that so just be, nice you. KNOW i you know,

(30:01):
what if you see a handicapped, PERSON i always go
out of my way to help. Them i've seen so
many people LIKE i should say. HANDICAPPED i even like
people want a cane or people want a, Walker and
it's like people just walk into the store and know
even pay attention to, them stop for a, second be
nice to help them all the. Door you. Know a
lot Of my dad beat it into my, head and
THEN i became an adult and got a little smarter
THAN i realized that's the right thing to. Do WHEN

(30:22):
i was a kid, man my dad, said you speak to.
Everyone my mom didn't believe in being. SHY i feel
sorry for people that are naturally. SHY i think at
a young. Age you could help a shy person get
through it just by, saying, hey just, practice you'll get over.
It but, uh, oh, well it's good To, Mark, mark
