(01:40):
to a celebrity in their dressing room, a famous actor.

More on that, plus a conversation ahead on with the
Krack and can face with the Rangers. Alex Faust joining us.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
He's there.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Radio play by play voice Alex Fout is going to
be with us. Everet fits you. Al Koniski also part
of the conversation we had in the latest Cracking Weekly.
This is going to be a special not as well
as far as with the Crack and are going to
be wearing their brand new third alternate jerseys will be
game ready for the first time in franchise history, a
tremendous spectacle of black, red, and bioluminescent undertones. The crack

(02:19):
and will wear these again ten more times this season,
including November fifth, the twenty sixth, two times in December,
three times in January, twice in April, and wrapping up
their last game in the jerseys on April ninth. Here's
reaction we got from Cracking captain Jordan Everley on wearing
the new jerseys.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
I think, obviously throw it under black light. I think
the big hit is probably that it glows a bit.
But I mean it's just it's different than what we've worn.
I like how, you know, the darkness of the black.
I think it makes us look a little bigger, and
you know, hopefully, uh you know, I mean, ultimately just
comes down to the record and hopefully it's good.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
As they often say, look good, feel good, good, play good.
That also applies to goaltender Joey to Cord, who mentioned
the benefits of the new alternate jersey, including brand new
matching equipment for his mask and pads top to bottom.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
That's sick.

Speaker 6 (03:11):
Yeah, I'm a huge fan for more than one reason,
and the biggest reason being it's it's nasty, like, it
looks unreal. Second reason being as a goalie. Now I
get to design gear for it and a mask and
pads and et cetera. It sticks, So I'm juiced. I
can't wait for everyone to see. I mean, I put
out my mask already, so that got some positive reaction,
but I can't wait for the rest of the gear

(03:33):
to come out for everyone to see.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Take me through the mask, the design, and what kind
of concept that that you wanted to conceive from the
get go.

Speaker 6 (03:41):
I so I work very closely with my mass painter, Shifty.
He does an incredible job, and he and I usually
have like a sit down and we just hat what
we want to do. I mean, obviously we wanted to
do glow in the dark paint right away, and he
kind of came to me with the idea of the
eyes on the side and then some cracking logos and
I loved it. And I think I think with mass painters,
especially like their artists, so if they see a vision,

(04:04):
if he sees a vision and he's like it's going
to be sick, I'm like, cool, do it. You know,
I'm never like, ah, I need you to do it
black and white like this, because then usually they feel
like they're restricted into, you know, a confined boundary, and
then that's it's hard for their creativity to come out
that way. So with Masks, I usually just let him
run with it.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
There's really no metric which can certainly measure how much
a team can really benefit from playing in an alternate jersey,
except for the fact that players often tell you a
brand new look will often inspire more energy, and we'll
see how much they can certainly capitalize off of that
coming up here against the Rangers, the Kraken come off
a thrilling comeback up for despite losing an overtime for

(04:44):
to three to Montreal back on Tuesday. Here's say what
happened with the Kraken down by three goals and running
out of time.

Speaker 7 (04:51):
Katon gets it back right side up top Montor shot.

Speaker 8 (05:02):
Randon Montour from the line, redirected into the net and
the Seattle Cracket on the power.

Speaker 7 (05:09):
Play and on the board three to one. They cut
their deficit into two.

Speaker 9 (05:14):
Well, good puck movement by anything.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
The Cracket starts with catting back to Montour he puts
on hard on net. I believe it went off of
something and I think it was James Schwartz's stick.

Speaker 7 (05:25):
It was either Schwartz or carry a because Carrie A
was the one.

Speaker 8 (05:30):
One goes off carry a stick and.

Speaker 7 (05:33):
In by Jacob Dobash. So that will be Montour's goal.
The cracket on the board down three one, who comes on?

Speaker 8 (05:39):
He told it in right in on goal.

Speaker 7 (05:41):
That one knocked away.

Speaker 8 (05:42):
Now Shane right stood, Shane right off a fifty pass
drifting into the slot and the Seattle cracket cut the
deficit to one. It's three two Canadians lead.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Here in the third.

Speaker 5 (06:04):
Where you can feel that pump pot Boilian partners they
got crack and move the pucket to the offensive end,
cycle around the back of the net, and it was
Montor feeding right in the high slot. Ran g it's
a one timer off peak Stoe bass bluff side tas
shelf is game three two.

Speaker 7 (06:18):
Now track it regain possession done drifting center plane across
Monto stop.

Speaker 8 (06:33):
Welcome back Brandon Monteur.

Speaker 7 (06:37):
He's got two third period goals.

Speaker 8 (06:40):
And the Seattle cracking tie the game at three.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
One forty three left in the third.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
Well Montreal I don't know why, but Montreal gives Seattle
excellent offensive zone entrance. They get control on the half
boards and Monty picks that puck up off of a
done pass and puts a bomb on net.

Speaker 9 (07:00):
This game title free.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Here is for her up.

Speaker 7 (07:03):
Gallagher gives it up and throws it in the middle.

Speaker 8 (07:05):
Intercept it five left, Carrie a hereside, Anderson settles shoot.

Speaker 7 (07:11):
Stuck down, loose puck o the doorstep. Monteur blocks the
puck and we.

Speaker 8 (07:17):
Are going to overtime here in Seattle.

Speaker 7 (07:20):
Coffield left circle around done, Gawfield stop by the cord.
It's in the score.

Speaker 8 (07:30):
Col Cawfield does it again to Seattle.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Brandon Montour scored twice in the rally. Also Sandwich, he
can go by Shane Wright. It was only Montour's second
game back after losing his brother Cameron to an unfortunate
battle with als Montor in the process picking up his
three hundredth career National Hockey League point and the Craken
salvaging a point in both matchups against the Canadians. Well,

(07:56):
Ryan Lindgren is a part of the story lines here
for this evening against the Rangers. He's facing his former
team for the first time since being traded from the
Rangers to the Colorado Avalanche and then signing with the
Kraken this past offseason as a free agent. It's often
said the hockey world is a small world, and that
means to plenty of relationships that lynd Gren has on

(08:17):
the other side in the Rangers dressing room. He was
Adam Fox's defensive partner for a long time, and he'll
face off against Fox and other former teammates he have
of the Rangers side for the first time coming up
this evening. Here's our chat with Ryan Lindgren on his
new surroundings and the possibility of having this kind of

(08:37):
game circled on the calendar. What drives a defenseman to
be willing to lay down in block shots.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Yeah, I think it's just doing anything to help the team,
you know. I think coming from a family of goalies,
you know, I try to maybe help them out as
much as I can, and you know, I know they
appreciate when you when you put your body on the
line and get in front of a park. So yeah,
it's something I try to do. It doesn't always feel great,
but you know, it helps the team and that's what

(09:05):
you're trying to do.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Having Coppocco back in the same room once again, what
kind of energy do you see from him that makes
it feel like nearly the same guy that you had
in New York.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Yeah, it's it's great playing with him again. He was
a guy I got really close with in New York
and you know, one of my really good buddies. So
you know, it makes the transition easier for me coming
here and seeing him, and you know, just just seeing
the way he took off when he came here last
year and how good he played, you know, he you know,
he's going to be doing the same thing. So yeah,

(09:36):
I'm just really excited to be playing with him again.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
January twelfth on the calendar, a return to Madison Square Garden.
How much are you circling that date?

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to it. You know, obviously
we got, you know, a lot of games before then,
but that's definitely one I'm excited for. And yeah, it'll
be cool playing in there again.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
How do you feel that you grew as a defenseman
as compared to your rookie season.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Yeah, I think it's it all comes from confidence. I
think as you as you start in your rookie year.
You know, you're just trying to learn the game, you know, learn,
learn what you can and can't do out there and
what kind of works for you. And you know, the
more you play and the more comfortable you feel, the
more you evolve as a player. And you know, I
think I've done that over the years, and you know,

(10:22):
I'm obviously not not where I want to be, but
you just try to work as hard as you can
every day and become a better player.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Now, Charlie is your brother. You said before that you
two are close. How long did it take for you
to text or even to hang out after the playoff
series you two had back in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Yeah, it was. It was bizarre because we talked to
each other all the time. You know, me, me, Charlie
and our other brother Andrew are really close, and so yeah,
going through that old stretch where obviously we didn't talk
to each other was was a little weird. But you know,
going through that handshake line after was was pretty surreal.
And you know, he played his butt off that series,

(10:59):
and so yeah, we talked right after, and you know,
he let me know that that he was rooting for us,
and you know, rooting for us to go on a
good run. So it was something special and I know
my whole family really enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
You try the position of goalie once and you said,
at age six, that's it. I'm done seeing Charlie in
those shoes. What is it about goalies that set them apart?
But you come to appreciate.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Yeah, I mean I look at my brother. I work
out with him, I skate with him in the summer,
and you know just just how dedicated they are of
the game. And you know he does everything he can
every single day to improve his game. And you know
they got to be so flexible and so quick, and
you know he works at that every day, and you

(11:46):
know it's really cool for me to have a role
model like that and and just see what it takes
for him to, you know, excel in the NHL level.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Just going back to where you came from. What's one
day that you could go back and relive growing up
in Minnesota all over again.

Speaker 10 (11:59):
If you could.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Yeah, I think there's a lot of them. I think
for for me, there's something that was really special. Was
was the first time getting to see uh, well, they
both they both made it to the state tournament, but
we're getting to see Charlie for the first time. You know,
it was such a special moment for our whole family.
You know, they're kind of a Cinderella story at Lakeville
North and they got the upset over Lakeville South and

(12:23):
and then getting to go to the state tournament and
watched Charlie playing that for the first time. Was was
really cool.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Getting settling here to a new city and a new team.
How was unpacking time here recently versus stay back in March.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Yeah, it was, uh, you know, it was really cool.
You know, he's just getting to know the area, and yeah,
it's it's been a lot of fun getting to all
the guys and so yeah, I really enjoyed.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
It fishing, guy, hiking, guy, golf, guy, outdoors guy, anything.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Big time golf. Been able to play a couple of
times since I've been here, and you know, the courses
in this in this area are unbelievable. So yeah, that's
been really nice. In the weather too, has been awesome
since I've been here, so gotten to spend a lot
of time outdoors and kind of around Lake Washington. So
it's been a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Is a driver part of your game? The flat stick.
Any iron play your strength.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Definitely not the flat stick that kind of runs in
our family in one can Pott. But no, my irons
are usually decent. My driver can be okay, but yeah,
the flat stick is something I need to work on.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Ryan Lindgren is one part of the storyline. Coppocaco is another.
He hasn't played a game yet after suffering a broken
hand in a preseason game against the New York Rangers
back in September. That long road back could come to
an end potentially this evening, assuming he's cleared. After all,
he did skate in practice with the Kraken on Friday

(13:38):
in a regular jersey. He has yet to come off
ir but still Cocko potentially could be facing the team
that traded him to the Kraken in exchange for defenseman
Will Borgan this last December. Meanwhile, Borgan comes back to
Seattle for the first time since the trade, and a
warm welcome potentially could be on hand from Kracking fans
in attendance for this game. Borgan, of course, the second

(14:02):
overall pick for the Kracking in that historic twenty twenty
one expansion draft. He was also a part of the
roster and a big piece of a physical and rugged
effort on their blue line when they upset the Colorado
Avalanche in seven games in the first round back in
twenty twenty three. But Lynn Gren's a part of this
krack and dressing room now and they convened together at

(14:23):
Climate Pledg Aina earlier this week for Adam Sandler's stand
up comedy tour. So for the week of Halloween, the
Kraken showed up to Climate Pledge Arena same night as
a team, dressed up in Adam Sandler characters from his
recent movies. And of course after the tour, Sandler crashed
the party in the Kraken dressing room. And here's Matty

(14:44):
Beniers on who he went as, plus the experience of
meeting and acting legend Zohan.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
It was awesome.

Speaker 6 (14:51):
Who's a really nice guy. He took pictures of everyone
and I did a great job out there.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
We had a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
So how starstrug did the Kraken get Here's the if
it's been Vince Dunn, who said, on the contrary, meeting
Adam Sandler was a down to earth experience.

Speaker 10 (15:06):
Yeah, he was a great guy. His crew is very
friendly and just as funny as they were on stage
in person, so it's cool to see that side of
them that is just their natural talent, that they're just
kind of funny people and use that to their advantage
where they're on screen.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
So a team bonding outing all done in the rearview
mirror and the krack of now gearing up for the
Rangers in game three of this five game homestand to
prepare for this one, we caught up with Rangers radio
play by play voice Alex Foust and a chat we
had between ever it fits you, Al Kaniski myself as
well for the recent drop of crack and weekly.

Speaker 11 (15:41):
You know, I think you can go back to some
of the injuries that they've had to deal with, which
may not seem all that significant on the surface, but
our Timmy Paneren and JT. Miller both had what I
would describe as false starts in training camp. They were
both banged up, didn't get the full camp, and I'm
firmly believe they may not have been one hundred percent

(16:02):
when the season got underway. And then shortly after the
season started, Vincent Trocheck went down with injury. And you're
talking about a guy who you know is one of
the top centermen in the league. The plan was to
have Mika's avantaje ad play on the wing this season
and not be a full time center like he's been
in the past. Well, that plan immediately got torn to

(16:26):
bits when Trocheck went down with injury. You know, the
feeling was that they wanted to get Mika up on
the fore check a little bit more on the wing,
and he's bought into a kind of a more physical
north South game. But without Trocheck in the middle, you're
talking about a guy who is grade five on five,
a point producer, is on your top power play unit,

(16:49):
kills penalties, never mind slots the rest of your forwards
where they should be. The knock on effect from that injury,
I think has created a lot of problems. You Know,
the first couple weeks of the season, you could look
at the Rangers record and say, well, you know, they're
losing all these games. But actually the sense was, and
I'm not just talking from a team standpoint, but from

(17:11):
the fans from the media covering the team, that their
process was fine. They were out playing their opposition at
five on five, they were dominating them defensively, and the
issue was they weren't getting goal scoring. Well, now their
game has slipped a little bit defensively and the goal
scoring hasn't picked up with it to try to cover

(17:32):
for all of that. So what you wind up with
is a team that you know, probably shouldn't have, you know,
as low a record as they have, but by virtue
of not winning games where they outplayed their opposition, they
find themselves in this early hole.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
I'm sure that things weren't going to script early here
as far as what Mike Sullivan had intended off the
bat here for his brand new job going over from
the Pittsburgh Penguins as well expouse joining us right now
and crack and weekly. But what have we learned so
far with what Mike Sullivan is all about his core
values and how much more time that this team needs
to really get things locked in as far as his vision.

Speaker 11 (18:14):
To be honest, I thought that there was a lot
of buy in right away and training camp. I think
this group was craving more structure, more of a set standard,
and Mike Sullivan has been adamant about that this group
needed to set a new bar as far as a
standard of play and going back to the first couple

(18:35):
of games, you know, they play Washington really tough and
Charlie Lingern put in a great performance. They play the
may Ple Leafs really tough and lose that one. You know,
over time, you look at some of their early results
and some of their tight losses to begin this season,
and they were playing to that standard. They were playing
what the way Mike Sullivan wanted them to play by

(18:59):
being responded coble, by playing hard North South. And I
think that, you know, as they've slipped a little bit
here and lost a couple of games, you're seeing Sullivin
trying to bring the group back to that standard. You know,
the Rangers made a clear investment in Sulivin as their
head coach, and you know they they feel that the

(19:20):
way that he runs this operation on the day to
day is absolutely what this group needs. And I think
you're seeing it that. When this team is playing at
its best, it's probably the most defensively sound you've seen
the Rangers play in a long long time. But now
it's just about okay, how can you how can you
pair that with you know, some of the creative skill

(19:43):
on this team and getting a little bit more finished
right now.

Speaker 9 (19:47):
Sometimes when you're trying to get over that that position
of maybe not playing to where you expect a team
to play. You can look at areas of improvement when
you when you talk about training camp and the vets
and you know, maybe they did or didn't get out
of that in preseason. And then you look at, well,
who do you think when you're putting down the roster,
who do you think has the most upside? Get this

(20:09):
thing righted a little bit?

Speaker 11 (20:12):
You know, I think they're they're looking at two guys
that you know have been off to slow starts, Will
Cooley and Alexi Lafrenier. You know, both were expected to
carry more of a higher load this year. I mean
la Frenier, you know, his body of work speaks for itself,
right and the skill is plainly obvious. But can't he
keep that up on a consistent basis? For you know,

(20:36):
Will Cooley, who burst onto the scene a couple of
years ago, I mean this is his third full NHL season.
I think what what's interesting with a younger player is
when you elevate him into a new role, is then
pressure starting to set in? If okay, I have to
match expectations of being in a certain place, and then

(20:57):
do you wind up maybe trying to do a little
bit too much much. And we see this all the
time with younger players around the league. I mean, Will
is still only twenty three years of age. It's hard to,
you know, instantly be thrust into a newer role where
you're expected to carry more of the team and not

(21:20):
stray from the simple game that got you there. So
right now it's about how you can, you know, get
this guy who plays a really great North South game
and stick with it.

Speaker 9 (21:31):
Right So you're out, You're out on a four game
road trip West Coast. You're one game in. Does being
out on the road do you think that helps kind
of galvanize the guys a little bit, to get away
from MSG for a few days? Do you think that
helps get the team right it a little bit?

Speaker 11 (21:50):
You know, I think given the way that you know
they struggled at home to begin, you know, it can't hurt.
I think we hear often in today's in al that
going on the road, regardless of which team you play on,
is actually more of a structured environment than when you're
playing home games. And we've actually seen it across the league.

(22:12):
I was looking up and we're taping this on a Monday,
I was looking at the league wide points percentage of
ball road teams. It's five point forty one to begin
the season, So across the league you're seeing this where
when teams get out on the road and they can
jail as a group and they can leave you know,
some of the things that you may occupy their time

(22:34):
when they're at home, family obligations and other things, it
actually sometimes can aid in performance. So I think that's
what the hope is for this Rangers team, is that
they can take advantage of being on their longest road
trip of the season stacked together a couple of results,
feel more confident about their game when they return home.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Alex this is going to lead to the reunion game
that we have certainly been pining for for a while.
On the Kraken side, we'll see if Coppocacka was back.
But Ryan lind Gren is here, and now Will Borgan
is back in Seattle for the first time since the
trade from this last season. I mean, he's earned playing
time up and down the defensive pair. But through ten
games so far and sixty one overall, what's the Will

(23:17):
Borgan experience like in New York and how he fits
in here to Mike Sullivan's plans.

Speaker 11 (23:23):
Well, we're actually got a couple of reunion events here
with JT. Miller as we take this on a Monday
before the Rangers playing Vancouver on Tuesday, So that's gonna
be a big one to mark down. But you know,
I think when when the Rangers traded for Will Borgan
in the Coppococo deal, they were looking for some more

(23:46):
consistent play out of their back end, just a sturdy,
stay at home defenseman. I have been impressed from the
moment Borgan got here. You know, I don't think you
know he's going to tell you that he has an
offensive streak to his but he'll step up and join
the rush. He's got a pretty good shot. I think
everybody around the organization has been really happy with what

(24:09):
Will brings to the table. He plays with a bit
of an edge. He's a tough guy. I mean I've
seen already. I mean we're less than a month end
of the season, and he's taken some punishment, whether it's
block shots or tough hits, and he keeps on ticking.
He is one tough customer and I think he's been
a great fit for what this Rangers team wants to

(24:31):
be identity wise.

Speaker 9 (24:34):
Alex talk a little bit abouts and obviously a top
goaltender in this league. What's he like? What are the
fans need to do about him in terms of how
he approaches the game? You know they see the stats, obviously,
but talk a little bit about his professionalism as a goaltender.

Speaker 11 (24:52):
Boy, he's dedicated to his craft. You know, any goalie
will tell you that there hard on themselves. I think
Igor channels it in such a way where we were
looking up some stats the other day that you know
he get. He lost to San Jose in a six
or five overtime decision, and in his career he's bounced

(25:14):
back from those better than most goaltenders. He has a
really he has a gaudy win loss percentage in his
favor when he's coming off of a loss where he's
given up let's say five or more goals, and it
speaks to you know, his professionalism and how deeply he
you know, studies the game. You know, his his movement

(25:35):
when he's square to the puck. You know, I would
put him up against any goaltender in the league and
I'd say, you know, he's probably the best in that regard.
You know, until last year, he had won thirty six
plus games three seasons in a row. I mean, you're
you're talking about the Kreme de la creme in this league.
That's why he earned that large contract extension, the highest

(25:57):
for a goaltender in league history. But you know, I
think where it's so funny. You look at his goals
against and he got binged up a little bit to
start the road trip in Calgary, but he had a
sub two goals against average, and he's a game under
five hundred starting this road trip. You know, so it
just goes to show kind of where the Rangers are

(26:18):
at that you know, he's done his part, but needs
a little bit of run support.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Great catching up with Alex Faust again radio pip by
play voice for the New York Rangers as the Kraken,
trying to extend a run unbeaten at home in regulation.
Currently it's at three to zero and one and lock
up their third win in just nine tries against the Rangers,
who were at the end of a four game road trip.
Recent crack and injury updates include Coppocaco back in a

(26:45):
regular jersey lane. Lambers said he's quote working toward a return.
End quota, still on injured reserve. Meanwhile, Ryker Evans good
news for him. He hasn't played the game yet this season,
but has been seen in a red non contact jersey
this week in practice. Lambert said heat quote looks good.
Skating also looks good. End quote. No further update as well.

(27:05):
Jered mccambermain's day to day no news on his progression,
and senter Freddie Gudreau there's progression being back on ice briefly,
but Lambert's saying he is quote not expected back for
a while. End quotes. Hope you can join us here
for what should be a monumental night in brand new
threads the crake in taking on the New York Rangers
at Climate Pledge Arena Hockey on a Saturday against an

(27:29):
original sixteen. You can't ask for much better here as
far as the regular season schedule, and we hope that
you can certainly join us for this one. Opening up
with six thirty airtime, your pregame show again served up
by Frostbrewed cors Light Juice Chill Pop Drop of the
