that was decided by the literal finniest of margins.

Welcome in the Dallas Stars, looking to stop a seven
game slide against their Texas rival at potentially in up
a top the Pacific Division standings by night's end, and
it also signals the return for a big missing piece
of Seattle's offense. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, Happy Thanksgiving.
Welcome inside, of Climate Plaid Arena alongside Alconiski.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Hi'm Everet Fitzu.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
This is Seattle Cracking Hockey on the Global Credit Union
Cracking Audio Network. He's it in the pregame show served
up by Frost Brew Corps, Light Juice, Chill Partner. Cracking
a five out of a possible eight points on that
road trip two one and one last week in four
games Detroit, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and the New York Islanders. In
(01:38):
for Seattle, tons of ups, a little bit of down,
but ultimately you're coming to this game here tonight in
second place, one point back of Anaheim.
Speaker 6 (01:46):
No, you can get what you wanted in that last
game on the island, which you got to sixty five
minutes of great hockey, defensive hockey. Unfortunately not able to
get it done in the shootout, so taking the shootout loss.
Odd though that joined the Corps. You get to shut
out to that game, stopping thirty four of thirty four.
The shootout goals do not count, but overall a successful
road trip.
Speaker 5 (02:05):
Big night tonight for Seattle as Jared McCann is set
to skate in his sixth game of the season.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Three goals, one assist in his first five.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
He's missed the last seventeen with an upper body injury,
and the Kraken really are missing that shot of his
in particular.
Speaker 6 (02:21):
Yeah, he'll He'll go on the left hand side with
Berkeley Catton in the middle and Shane right on that
right side. And you know what, first three games of
the season, he had a goals in each of those games.
I know they're looking for him to come back to
the lineup and do great things, but go easy on him.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
It's his first game back in a while.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
On the other side of the red line, this is
the Dallas Stars team coming off of an eight to
three drubbing in Edmonton last night. Anybody who was dressed
in a white jersey seemed to find the score sheet
yesterday for Dallas ten to two to one. Now in
game twos of back to backs since last season, so
for them, after a pretty easy night last night, it's
(02:57):
not going to be easier for Seattle because they're in
a back Yeah.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Despite that drubbing against Devonton, this team has the best
road record in the league right now, even one and three.
They also have a fantastic record of second of back
to back to and oh this season so Rocket are
gonna have their hands filled with this Starts team.
Speaker 5 (03:13):

(06:37):
Mike Benton with you a getting back for the course.
Light landing in section twenty with the Kraken entering this
homestand it's a short one of two games. Great record
so far at this checkpoint of the season, eleven five
and six twenty eight points, one point out, a first
place in the Pacific Division and carrying a tremendous record
at home at six to one and three. Dallas, on
(06:58):
the other hand, gonna be that' quite the challenge here
fourteen to five and four thirty two points. They are
ending their four game road trip five points at a
first place on their side in the Central and a record.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
They carry of eight to one and three on the road.
Speaker 9 (07:12):
The Kraken are trying to end a seven game winless
skid in this series head to head against Dallas, and
bounced back from a loss at the Stars back on
November ninth. But the good news here for this evening
Everett Now talked about this Jared McCann's back.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
It's finally happening.
Speaker 9 (07:29):
It's fur back since October eighteenth, suffering a lower body
ailman on that first road trip, And the Kraken get
a big addition here for their offense were last season
twenty two goals, sixty one points, what many thought of
what was a down year. This year's so far great
start three goals, four points first five games, So you
get a big at here for the Kracking offense that
(07:50):
had been struggling admittedly here for much of this season
to begin, the offense scoring just three goals or less
than six of the last eight games. Last game also
won nothing out loss at the Islanders the first time.
The Kraken also shut out all season, which dropped them
to twenty ninth in the NHL at just two and
a half goals scored per game. Yet for McCann back
(08:11):
in there is potential and maybe here for this roster
it is as healthy as maybe we have seen all
season long minus Copocacos, so potentially a great litmus test
here for the Kraken getting Jared mccannon back into the fold.
And also Berkeley Canton has been skating with him in
practice leading up here. To today, and Canton said he
knows what to do with mccannon on the ice.
Speaker 11 (08:34):
Just trying to get him the fuck is like the
best reach shout I've ever seen. So just you know,
play my game, and you know Canner will be, you know,
ready to go here, so excited to play with him.
Speaker 9 (08:45):
So while the Kraken are trying to trend North offensively,
well elsewhere, it's as good as it gets. There're four
to one and two last seven games against, which proves
winning is the ultimate definition of fun. Folks their game
right now. Defensively, it is stin among the best in
the NHL defensive league goals per game two point five,
second best in the league, shans against about middle of
(09:07):
the pack twenty seven a game allowed, but also five
on five goals allowed just thirty one all season, that
is best in the NHL. And when you factor in
goaltending teams say percentage nine three seven, that is also
best in the NHL at five on five. So they
bring all that here for this two game homestand opening
up with Dallas and Edmonton, where a Kraken av just
(09:28):
one loss in regulation, only two teams left in the
league zero in regulation at home as Colorado and New
Jersey and for the crack and it begins a pretty
important stream coming up here for games, a ton of
them coming up here, seven on the next nine by
the way, until December eighteenth. And their mission right now
keep building at home on a season that is certainly
(09:49):
turning plenty of heads.
Speaker 11 (09:50):
Well.
Speaker 9 (09:50):
Matty Vaniers said more on how much this start of
the season reflects the buy in across the entire team.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Yeah, a lot.
Speaker 12 (09:58):
Yeah, we're playing good defensively, We're playing hard when we're
playing detailed, so you know, all good things and just
continue to grow grow our game, you know, offensively and
you know, staying staying good defensively.
Speaker 9 (10:11):
His linemate recently, Mason Marshmanton said, the team's got their
foundation locked in through tight checking and through discipline.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
We're getting there.
Speaker 13 (10:19):
You know, we definitely play a good, tight, solid defensive game.
You know, there's always stuff that you can get better
at and stuff like that, but I think you know,
for the most part, every night we're we're shutting down
you know, a lot of high, high danger chances by
the way we played defense, so you know, there's always
room for improvement on offense. And you know that can
(10:40):
come and shot quality or just shot in general. So yeah,
I think, you know, that's one thing we can definitely
kind of take a step forward on.
Speaker 9 (10:49):
So with the shutdown game locked in the crack and
trying to get their offensive game locked in, leading us
here to our storylines. Jared McCann. First off, he's back
in new look for him, by the way, as far
as his line mates him on the left wing, Berkeley
Catton in the middle, Shane Wright on the right wing
for him where previously McCann had been skating with Matty
Veniers and Jordan Eberly against Dallas, He's got six goals
(11:12):
in nineteen games. So you can also take a look
here and maybe be on the watch out here for
McCann to get back on the one of two power
play units. For last season, his sixteen power play points
were second best on the entire team. Second story line,
it is this guy starting a net once again.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
Chandler Stevens had lost a face off Schaeffer left side, Barzel,
Schaeffer back to Barzel, fanning on the shot, Barzel.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
To the highest thought sends it across one.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
A same by Joey the court on bo horvat Oh goodness.
Speaker 9 (11:43):
That's Joey to court back in net where he turned
plenty of heads and then some against the Islanders last game.
Technically it was his second shutout of the season, seventh
of his NHL career as well's captain road trip for
him in three games and a nine to four to
zero say percentage and also factoring in he faced twenty
high danger shots that's fourth most in the NHL for
(12:03):
that span of the entire trip. So he's been terrific.
And this evening it's his first home game since the
San Jose lost back on November fifth, and against Dallas,
he's trying to get his game trending north a record
so far in four games at one, two and one
against the Stars. Or third storyline, Brandon Montur picking up
the pace three points last three games and against the Stars,
(12:24):
owning twelve points in nineteen games at right now typer
third overall for the Crack at all time in scoring
against the Stars, and he's trying to make the most
of it here in it's one hundredth game in a
Crack in Jersey here for this year. Let's hear more
on the Crack inside and Shane Wright, we said we'll
play on the wing with Berkeley Catton and Jared McCann
and right said against the Stars, they're well known for
(12:47):
an in your face game that you literally can't take
lightly at all.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Yeah, I mean they're a really good team. Remembers a
tight game.
Speaker 14 (12:57):
You know, not a lot of chances and you really
have to defend, defend hard against their top players.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
And you know you gotta get power play as well
sublimit them there.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
But yeah, should be another fun games.
Speaker 9 (13:08):
So on the crack and jury updates side, it's looking
sunnier these days. Matt Murray though still out lower body
ail mit missing six weeks in total, Copococo upper body
week to week but yet appeared today and morning skate
and a red non contact jerseys, so signs of progress.
They're on Copococo's side. We'll come back in a bit
and take a look at the Stars after this. You're
(13:28):
listening to the Global Credit Union Crack, an audio network.

The line with Dallas at minus one twenty five and

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Your pregame show.
Speaker 9 (16:02):
Is served up by Frostcrew Corps Light, Choose Chill, and
time now for a look at Dallas. They're rolling once again,
but now under a new head coach, Glenn Goldson, where
they're getting similar results right now, fourth best in the
league five on five goal ratio, so they can score
and they can defend, and a core back in place
once again on Jason Robertson, Ya Johnson, Miro Haskinen, Miko Rantonen,
(16:23):
Jay Gottinger. More on that situation here in a bit.
But they're certainly out of the gates here at full speed.
Second best team right now in the Central Division and
a road record that is right now proven to be
very very strong. They're right now ending their four game
road trip two zero and one in that span and
completely buzzed right through Edmonton in an a three win
last night opening.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
Back to back.
Speaker 9 (16:45):
That game was equal parts Dallas good and Edmonton sluggish.
The Stars out to a four to nothing lead after
one period. They went three of four on the power play.
Nathan Bastion, former crack and four by the Way, get
a two goal night end Jamie Ben got his four
hundredth NHL goal.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
That road record, by the.
Speaker 9 (17:02):
Way eight one and three tied with Colorado, top road
record in the league. They're on a nine game road
point streak, one shy of longest in the NHL this season.
That plus also the kracking guy to contend with the
Stars team that's been very tough in back to back situations,
Dallas owning best record in the NHL second leg up
(17:22):
back to backs in the beginning of last season ten
to two and one record in that spin, allowing just
one point eight goals per game. As well, they can
be stingy. Star storylines begin with Miko Rantonen. He's back
in previously off a one game suspension. Second on the
Stars twenty eight points. He'll be well rushed as well.
First game since last Saturday and against the Crack end
(17:43):
twelve points in fourteen games had to head, so he
had one hit on Alex Romanov five minute major for
boarding and a game miss conduct and then the hit
on Matt Coronatto and Calgary which earned the suspension. And
with that perspective here, according to head coach Glenn Goldson,
on the kind of value that ranted and is given
the Dallas lineup, even with the suspension still pretty fresh.
Speaker 18 (18:05):
I didn't realize for a superstar in the league how
much he's willing to play on the interior. And not
all of them do, right, some of them do, not
all of them. And he's very physical and he's a
big man, but but he has an elite talent and
vision and a shot. He's he's he's a very well
rounded player. You know, he's he's got an intensity to
(18:27):
him and I think, you know, I'm not in Colorado,
but maybe that's mass somewhat because McKinnon has a great
intensity to him as well, and it got hidden, but
you can certainly see it here and it bodes well
for his game. But at the end of the day,
you do have you know, your strength can become your weakness,
so you've got to, you know, make sure you walk
(18:49):
in the right line with that intensity.
Speaker 9 (18:51):
Second story line is Jason Robertson containing his heater. He's
there leading score thirty one points and on a seven
game point streak. They'll shoot the puck a lot one hundred.
Sean's on net that leads the NHL. Casey the Smith
also starting a NET four and one lifetime against the Kraken.
He'll be head ahead again as we said against Joey
Decord Everett and now have your three keys. After this,
(19:14):
you're listening to the Global Credit Union and crack An
Audio Network.
Speaker 19 (19:18):

of eight points. Partner on that road trip come from
behind three to two wins Friday or I guess Thursday
in Chicago, Saturday in Pittsburgh to get the one nothing
shootout loss on Sunday A long island, so a three
(21:54):
day point street coming in.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
They love to pay back.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
Dallas O six and one are the cracking against the
Star in their last seven meetings.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
What do they have to do here tonight to get
it done well?
Speaker 6 (22:04):
I want to pick out some of the things from
that game that went well for the crackt and I
gotta see them do them again here tonight.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Let's start by let's get physical.
Speaker 6 (22:11):
Seattle needs to set the physical tone early finish checks,
lean on Dallas' top skill guys, and make every puck
touch feel like attacks they don't want to pay. The
Stars hate games where they have to grind, so make
them grind until the edges on their skates file themselves
down to nubs. Hard honest hockey sets the table. Secondly,
clean first pass and quick zone exits. The Cracking have
(22:34):
to play fast with the first pass out of the zone,
clean exits, quick transitions, and let the forwards attack with
pace so Dallas is constantly defending on their heels. If
Seattle can turn defense into offense in two touches, the
Stars will be seeing the Krakens Abyss jerseys in their sleep.
And then third, goaltending and supremacy presume started jewelry to
(22:55):
Cord needs to shut the door early and loudly, none
of those polite after you reap track pucks, control traffic,
and give the boys confidence to push the offense without
worrying about a CounterPunch. A big early save could flip
the whole script. If the Crack can can follow these keys,
Dallas will feel like they're stuck in a game they
got upgraded from hockey to full contact dancing with the stars.
(23:16):
Quick transitions will have the Stars spinning like they're trying
to read a map in a hurricane, and on a
strong performance NET will force Dallas shooters to start questioning
their shooting abilities and probably their stick curves too handle.
All that and the Cracker won't just beat the Stars,
they'll dim the whole constellation.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
Fighting like reading a map in a hurricane and full
contact dancing with the start full contact. I get to
realler that Jerry mccannon back in the lineup tonight for Seattle.
You and I both on the air and off the air,
I have talked about how this team can improve their offense.
Right now, Seattle coming into the game two point five
to nine goals four, which is twenty ninth in the NHL.
(23:57):
You're thinking a guy like McCann should be able to
get your point four more to get you up to
that three. Just how big of an addition will this
be back for this Cracking line up?
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (24:08):
I mean it's not just five one five either. He's
gonna help this power play, which struggled a little bit
as of late. It's gotten better in the last five games.
But he's gonna jump right into the power play right away.
You know, the shots on every power play are gonna
go up as well, So I expect to see total
shots going up, goals going up. I think in about
a half goal game is what do you average. He's
not gonna put three watch you put three exactly a lot,
(24:29):
but expect about a half goal per game.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
He's gonna get poor pucksnett which can.
Speaker 6 (24:33):
Lead to goals from others as well, and that power
play is gonna get a little bit better.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
With him on the on the flank.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
Dallas eight three winners last night in Edmonton, two goal
nights for former Kraken Nathan Bashion, a three point night
from Jason Robertson one goal and two assists there a
four point night from Wyat Johnston one and three.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
But this morning about how tired.
Speaker 5 (24:54):
This team could be after a back to back last night,
he said, Listen, when you're up by that much, you
don't have a lot of minutes.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
And if you look at the minutes last night, and
they were all spread out.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
Only one player logged above eighteen minutes of three players
logged above eighteen minutes of ice time last night. So
for Seattle, this isn't gonna be the typical tire team
coming off of a back to bat.
Speaker 6 (25:18):
Yeah, and to put that in perspective, lots of times
your top pair deemon are gonna be twenty five to
twenty seven minutes on the ice, maybe your top line
as well. When you don't have to play them. You're right,
you don't have to tax them as much as coach
Wayne Lambert said. Do they get rest a little bit
because they don't have to go quite as hard as
they would in a tight game.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
But it's still the second in the back to back
to them.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
You know who's never taxed, You know who goes as
hard as he can every shift.
Speaker 3 (25:41):

Thank you, Mike Lane. A very rare one nothing shootout
loss for the Cracking on Sunday to wrap up that
road trip. Overall, you get five of eight points. You
have a couple to come from behind victories, a lot
of positives on that four game trek out east. Just
take us through your thoughts on the last eight days
for Seattle and your your breakdown and assessment of that
(28:50):
road trip.
Speaker 21 (28:51):
H Yeah, I mean it didn't start off the way
we wanted to in Detroit, you know, and I thought
from there we did a good job a re grouping,
you know, coming back with a couple of comeback wins
in the third period in you know, both Chicago and Pittsburgh.
And then like you said, you know, the the Islander
(29:11):
game was.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
I was that back to back.
Speaker 21 (29:15):
It was a short turnaround for us. I thought our
goaltender played it excellent, deserved.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
The shoutout, got the shout out.
Speaker 21 (29:25):
You know, they don't take away a shutout if you
get scored on in a shootout, but certainly I thought,
you know, for the most part, I thought we played
pretty good. There's certainly some areas we can clean up.
I thought the Islanders had too many rush chances.
Speaker 25 (29:40):
Hon Us the other night at the quarter pole of
the season, where Seattle is now tied for second in
the division, what would you make of this team? What's
your assessment of where you guys are based on your
expectations coming into the year and where you see this
team moving forward?
Speaker 21 (29:57):
Well, for me anyway, personally, I expect are always high.
If you set the barlow, you will go low.
