Speaker 3 (00:21):
The day of feasting and giving thanks has come and gone.
Those leftovers should be good till about Monday, by the way,
and the Seattle Kraken are ready to get back to
work against a familiar foe in the Edmonton Oilers.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Following a three to two loss to Dallas on Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
The Kraken wrap up a brief holiday homestand with a
Saturday matinee against Edmonton, who's coming off an eight three
loss to Dallas on Tuesday night and are fighting to
stay afloat in the Western Conference with a five hundred
record and losses in six of their last eight games.
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome inside of Climate Pledgerina

Speaker 1 (01:13):

Speaker 4 (01:15):
I mean, obviously there's Thanksgiving to dinner on Thursday, but
Friday morning, Friday night, even maybe this morning, there was
a turkey sandwich just made its way into my mouth.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Well there, Cracking are back on the ice here tonight,
having skated and four consecutive one goal game seven of
their last ten had been decided by a goal to one,
and one in their last four following that three to
two loss to Dallas, So the trend continues. They aren't
allowing a lot, but unfortunately for Seattle, they aren't getting
(01:46):
much either.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Yeah, then a lot of that comes from the goaltending.
They're at thirty four goals against even strengths right now,
best in the league, and you know nine hundred save
percentage are better by both Joey to Cord and Philip.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Grubauer right now.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Are a lots of reason for that. The defense, the
structure of the team plays into that as well, and
if they can keep games within reach, they're in every game.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Well, the hits keep on coming for Seattle.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Jayden Schwartz leaving the game on Wednesday with a lower
body injury was announced yesterday. He will be sidelined for
up to six weeks. It sounds like a minimum of
six weeks. It seems like every injury the crackn have
had this season have been in that four to six
to eight week mark.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
A devastating blow for Seattle. Yeah, they lose their leading
scorer and Jayden Schwartz. They lose a guy that checks
all the boxes. He's a physical player, he plays power play,
you know, he's a leader on the team, and with
him being out, the power play drops up to fourteen
point seven percent lifetime while Jayden Schwartz has been on
the power play. But it also presents opportunities Berkeley Cotton
will fill his spot on that second power play and
(02:47):
have a chance to show his stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Well.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
With one person going on the shelf, another one is
coming off the shelf, as Coppocaco slated to be back
in the lineup tonight for Seattle. Across the red line,
the Edmonton Oilers. They have dropped six of their last
ten games. That's not been eight games. Rather, it's not
been smooth skating for them. They've come off of an
eight three loss to Dallas on Tuesday. That's their second
(03:11):
eight plus goal against performance this season, which is second
most for them all time in the.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
First twenty five games. Yeah, the Toiler team a bit
in the spin cycle right now. Two goaltenders that are
below nine hundred and save percentage, and they are at
the other end of the league as far as goals
against as sixty six. So the Cracking have to make
sure the take advantage of that here tonight get their goaltender.
In this case, it'll be Skinner thinking right away by
scoring on them early.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
The Light schedule for Seattle continues here this week Edmonton
at home tonight. They do not play again until next
Thursday in Edmonton, so plenty of time for the Kraken
to get used to this opponent. Mike Benton's standing by

betting with you back for the corse Light landing in
section twenty, the Kraken coming in here for the matinee
Day eleven, six and six. Out to a great start
twenty eight points, ending a brief two game homestand they
are three points out a first place in the Pacific
Division and a home carrying a great record so far
of six to two and three. Edmonton coming in ten
(07:24):
ten and five right now twenty five points. Who to
thunk at this point of the season, out of the
cut line, but they're only two points back. This is
their lone road game where they're in a big stretch
of home for six of seven and they're five eight
and three on the road as well. The Kraken trying
to bump their mark up to three wins in a
row if they can do that when we get them
(07:44):
there today against Edmonton and that's the second matchup of
the season where the Kraken come off a three to
two win back on October twenty fifth. Let's flash back
last game out on the Kraken side. It was as
much of a healthy roster as it gets on their end,
facing the Pallas Stars.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Whose puck came out McCann fire just riding the.
Speaker 6 (08:09):
Brandon Montour a sharp angle shot from the.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Right corner goal line. It goes off of Casey the
Smith and in the sea level crack at hath tied
the game at one. Ten fifty four left the period.
Number one.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
Well, it starts with a shot down the middle from
a defenseman pitching in. The puck goes from the corner
of Montour. Is the guy that jumps on that loose
pucking rather than looking for the pass, He's gonna shooter
his mentality.
Speaker 12 (08:35):
That was Brandon Montor's goal in his one hundredth game
as a member of the Krack, and it looked promising
at that point as a Krack and traded punch for
punch with Dallas, but they got Jared mccamn back in
his first game back from menajury, only to lose Jayden
Schwartz Azeveretten now mentioned left the second period lower body
injury he'll miss approximately the next six weeks and in
(08:55):
a game of inches Ladis laugh Kolia Jonah got a
game winning goal on a shot through traffic lighton period
three the Crack and falling to Dallas three two. So
you got two tests on end here for today. Number
one the afternoon mattin a game. First time the Kraken
are playing this early this season. They'll play in one
of five games, by the way, before four pm. So
(09:17):
essentially the meaning no changing routine, no morning skate, though
no pregame rituals, is just showing go here for a
game like this and for the challenge on the Kraken
side is play their game. But it also means new
conditions against a sleeping giant in Edmonton. Needs the words
here from Cracking captain Jordan Eberley, who had more on that.
Speaker 13 (09:36):
I think you look at Edmonton, obviously they you know,
Leon and Connor, it's two guys you got a really
key on they've you know, you got to know your
opponent too. I mean, obviously they're coming off a game
where you know they're probably not half with how it went,
and you know we're gonna expect their a game. Obviously,
this is a back to Vaccientwy the final team. They
have a lot of firepower where they could score. Think
they got, you know, a lot of threats, so we
have to be ready.
Speaker 11 (09:56):
The reason why they're not happy.
Speaker 12 (09:58):
Edmonton comes off in eight three loss to Dallas earlier
this week, and the Kraken face and the Oilers in
matchup two of four.
Speaker 11 (10:06):
Last time they faced them, they won.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Three to two.
Speaker 12 (10:08):
Of course, back on October twenty fifth, the Kraken did
and they got to Stewart Skinner early and el Conomer
David to no points and no goals as well, the
cracking getting a two goal night from Jordan Everly.
Speaker 11 (10:20):
Test number two for the Kraken.
Speaker 12 (10:22):
It's again to prove their potential at this point of
the season where they're still hanging around the playoff micks,
pass the Thanksgiving checkpoint and defense has gotten them their
goals per game two point five to seven allowed, second
best in the NHL. Shots again sore right now above
the halfway cut line tight for fourteen, best in the league.
Five on five goals allowed thirty four that is best
(10:42):
in the NHL. Whereas as well as goaltending helping them
out five on five teams say percentage nine to three
to four that is best in the NHL as well.
All trying right now help out of offense that's still scuffling,
scoring three goals or less than eight of the last
ten games.
Speaker 11 (10:59):
Cracking storylines.
Speaker 12 (11:00):
First off, begin, cop Ocacko did a return to the
lineup here fresh off i R. Can he can get
his game up to speed and stay healthy. He's had
just one goal in seven games and it's been an
injury filled season so far, but he was back in
there now playing what looks like will be with Berkeley
Catton and Freddie Gadreaux. Here's Jordan Beverley once again who's
said the potential of getting cop o'cacko back into the
(11:22):
lineup is a big thing in more ways than one.
Speaker 13 (11:25):
He's big, he's strong, he great playmaker. You know he
he had you know he's talking about the offense. He
adds to that, so you know, the more bodies of
back to Better were you know, dangerous team were healthy
and having everyone rolling.
Speaker 12 (11:38):
Second story line, Matty Veneer's his line and his impact
last matchup he shut down Connor McDavid and his line again.
McDavid hild to no shots, no goals, minus one two
or twelve in face offs. Vaniers two assists in that game,
ten of fourteen and face offs he won. Veneers by
the way, carrying points in five of his last eight games.
(11:58):
Mason Marshman to his left wings, scoreless last game, but
he has got six points last seven games. Jordan Eberley
also trying to end a four game points skid. Of course,
we mentioned he had a pair of goals last match
up here against Edmonton. Third story line, special teams the
Kracking gotta win that battle. The penalty Kills had a
clean sheet each of the last two games, but they're
(12:19):
facing an explosive Edmonton power play third best in the NHL.
But what are they going to get Edmonton right now?
Coming up empty in four of the last five games.
As far as goals scoring, that's more on the Kraken side,
and Ryan Lindgren said, at this point of the season,
the krack and know what kind of team they can be.
Speaker 11 (12:38):
It's paying off right now.
Speaker 14 (12:39):
We're bind with the identity of what we want to be.
You know, Lane stress from from the get go that
we want to be a hard, defensive team to play against.
And you know, I think we've done a good job,
but I think everyone's bought into, you know, that role,
and I think the next step for us is to
you know, get a little more offensive, you know, a
little more dangerous and offensive Z. But the only way
(13:01):
we don't want to get away from you know, what's
been making us successful these first twenty five games.
Speaker 11 (13:06):
And Jay, we just got to keep building up for
that showy.
Speaker 12 (13:09):
The course starts at net for the Crack inside and
we'll come back after this with a look at Edmonton.

Chill brings to the Kraken and the Oilers in about
twenty two minutes. Mike Benton with you in time to
ask what are the odds that's brought to you buy
the Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling and Your Odds courtesy
Bet MGM. The line with Edmonton at minus one fifty
five and the over under is six. Well, a look
at the Oilers now. It was just earlier this week
(15:44):
where Connor McDavid sounded like this after an ain' three
loss to Dallas.
Speaker 13 (15:49):
I don't have many answers for you tonight.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
Yeah, I don't. I don't know.
Speaker 12 (15:55):
I don't have any answers, as I said direct and pointed,
because the Oilers beginning ten, ten and five, and the
question bears, well, if you're the Oilers, how do you recover?
But yet the method, it seems last few years it's simple,
just wait it out. Last three years into November. Three
years ago began the year ten and ten, last two
years ago began nine to twelve and one, last year
(16:17):
ten nine and two. So you think definitely and surly.
But Mattters this year a tad more alarming team. Goalies
save percentage eighty six, so that's last in the NHL
high danger goals allowed five on five, that's thirty five,
next to last in the NHL. Go differential minus sixteen,
tied for fourth lowis and the NHL. But on the
flip side, Edmonton owning the third best power play in
(16:39):
the league because they've got two of the most dangerous
superstars teaming up Connor McDavid thirty four points, that's third
best in the league. Lean dry Settle twenty nine points
in twenty five games. They still can be dangerous. Our
Edmonton story lines, first off, their dynamic duo and the
Kraken gotta keep them in check. McDavid's got a point
or better eleven to fourteen matchups against the Kraken. Dry
(17:01):
Seattle is riding a six game point streak, had to
head in this series overall as well, He's got points
last seven games. Second storyline, Ryan Nugent Hopkins back in
the lineup last Sea November eighth, has missed the last
nine games with a head injury, and he's got points
and not of the last ten games against the Kraken. Well,
that's more from the Oilers and head coach Chris Nablock
(17:22):
trying to stay positive, saying on Friday practice was a
step in the right direction.
Speaker 19 (17:28):
The temple was good. Just the enthusiasm was at a
level that I haven't seen probably since camp, which is
a great step. And I think that's probably the biggest
thing that we need to improve upon, is just you know,
feeling good about ourselves, belief in the team that we
can win games and not dragging our feet and feeling
(17:48):
sorry for ourselves, because yeah, we can be disappointed, but
I don't think that's helping us.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Moving forward.

This is Jayden Schwartz.
Speaker 21 (20:05):
You're listening to Seattle, Crack and Hockey on the Kraken
Audio Network.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Back inside of Climate Pledge Arena. A Saturday matinee against
the Edmonton Oilers. This Seattle wraps up a brief two
game holiday home stand. He's al Kiniski, I am Everett
fits you the Seattle Crack and getting sept to battle
the Edmondson Oilers following a three two loss to the
Dallas Stars on Tuesday and partner uh for Seattle. Again,
(20:32):
it was more of the same for Seattle. They were
able to limit the opportunities for Dallas. They largely shut
down the big guns, the Rams and Ends of the world,
the Robertsons of the world, but they still made some
crucial mistakes when they didn't need to. Now you take
out Jayden Schwartz with the lineup, You bring Coppo coggo
back in the musical chairs. Continue.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
What do they gotta do to meet the oilers here tonight?
Speaker 4 (20:55):
Well, they got to focus on the transition. Shutting that
transit just down is important if they can clamp down
Inton's transition game. Early McDavid starts skating downhill with if McDavid,
excuse me, if McDavid's hard to say his name. Sometimes
David starts skating downhill speed. It's like trying to catch
a falcon with oven mits. Force them into half ice
battles where the crack can can dictate speed and apply
(21:17):
some controlled chaos. Second volume, shooting Seattle needs to get
bodies parked in front of the net. Skinner can look
unbeatable one minute and extremely poorous the next. It really
depends on how much traffic you're willing to throw in
his kitchen. Keep Puck's funnel low and force rebounds into
dangerous areas. And then third, winning the special Teams battle,
you win it by staying discipline and opportunistic. Edmonton's power
(21:40):
play is a lethal killing machine. Avoid feeding that machine
and make them pay on the other end with clean
entries and sharp puck movement. The cracking penalty kill must
treat Edmonton's power play like an open bag up with
sobby P's approach with respect, contain the mess and never
let it explode. Control special teams, and you control the
rhythm of the game. So if the formula tonight is simple,
(22:02):
slow down that track, meet, throw pucks to the net
like confettio a wedding, and don't give the Oilers free
electricity with unnecessary penalties. If the crack and can stick
to that, they'll drag the Oilers into a style of
hockey that doesn't feel like a cheat coded video game.
Either way, Seattle's path to two points looks clear, at
least as clear as it ever gets when McDavid is involved.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Well, and listen, if you're Seattle, you are still in
third place in this division. Yes, you've been able to
shut down other team stars, and we talk a lot
about what McDavid and dry Saddle have been able to
do five on five on special teams.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
But I think for me it comes down to getting
back to that shot first mentality as well. Yeah, it
absolutely does.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
I think it's been shown over the last couple of
games that you know, pucks go in in weird ways.
Look at the winning goal again for Dallas in the
last game. Adam Marston comes up to block the shot.
It just barely misses his left knee, finds the inside
post and goes in. Putting pucks on net is never
a bad thing. It leads sometimes to better opportunities, sometimes
leads to goals.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Coppo Gotto bring back to the lineup that the crackend
had been missing, and now with Jared or Dajeary mcammck
Jaden Schwartz out of the lineup as well, it provides
an opportunity for some other players to step up, especially
on the power play.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
Yeah it does obviously Berkeley counting Catton jumping into that
spot on the power play that Jayden Schwartz vacates with
Coppo Cockle. He's a big bodied guy, so he brings
out and provides some of that physical play that Jaden
Schwartz does. Jayden Schwartz is like fourth or fifth in
the list for hits on this team. You don't often
think that, but he plays a lot of physical bodies,
so Coppo Cockle can fill that role as well, along
(23:32):
with a lethal shot and some great passing cracking.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Have won two in a row against the Edmonson Oilers.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
After an OH nine and oh stretch, you're wrapping up
this brief home stand back to back games with the
Edmonton Oilers.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
I mean, I think we're too early to be and
must win territory.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
But when you're talking about teams below you that you
want to keep behind you, it doesn't get much more
of a you probably should win this game.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Than not absolutely.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
And I think that as I've poking about before, looking
at the schedule and chunks, you put everything behind you.
Thanksgivings now coming gone American Thanksgiving. You look at the
next chunks between now and the holiday break. You look
at those games you wanna you want to, you want
to look at those games and say, what do we
want to get out of this between now and then?
Forget about everything you've done already. You've got to repeat
that over that next chunk. And it starts here today
(24:20):
with this game. Who was the star of your Thanksgiving?
What was the star dish? I mean the gravy. I
mentioned this if I would walk out if there wasn't
gravy on the table, But the gravy was so good.
I mean, I hate grounding food and gravy except on Thanksgiving,
