Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sunny Mornings on Sunny Wino was six point five Las
Vegas's best variety of the eighties nineties, and today it's
going to be an exciting thing to learn about here
this morning, you can win yourself a brand new home
or two hundred and fifty thousand dollars in here to
talk about how you can do that and to help
a good cause in the process. Sarah Ramirez, CEO and
President of Catholic Charities and Tom McCormick's CEO of Touchstone Living,

(00:21):
Good morning, Thanks for coming in.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Good morning, morning, Thank you for having us.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
It's going to be a lot of fun talking about this. Now.
Sarah will start with you and your your involvement. What
is the tie in here with Meals on Wheels?

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Sure, so we have this exciting opportunity with Touchstone Living
to raffle off a brand new home. And if you've
already have a home, this is a chance to take
away two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Now all of
the proceeds are going to support Meals on Wills ride
here in Southern Nevada.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
I think it's a program most people are familiar with
and aware of benefiting seniors and take nourishment directly to
their homes. And Tom, you've got to be really excited
about this too, as a local home builder here in
the valley.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Yeah. Well, we're like the last of the large local
homebuilders and we've always looked for things we can do
within the community. When you look at the food insecurity
for the seniors, it's just overwhelming. The fact that our
company could help solve that problem makes myself and everyone
in the company very excited.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
So a brand new home valued it I think it was.
We said three hundred and sixty thousand dollars is what
you could win or taking home a quarter of a
million dollars, either of which not shabby. So let's talk
about how do you win? How do you enter? How
do you take part in this?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Yeah, so it's really easy to enter. You go to
Vegas New Home raffle dot com and we have three
different tiers. You could get one ticket for twenty five dollars,
five tickets for one hundred, or the biggest bang for
your buck is to get fifty tickets for five hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Holy cow, pretty special, it really is. And Tom, what
is it that means so much to you about being
involved with this program.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Well, I've been involved with this program for thirty years.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
What I have found is that literally everybody I know
knows somebody on Meals on Wheels. Yeah, and we don't
keep a waiting list for Meals on Wheels, but we
have a waiting list of people who have insisted on
adding their name and the hope of eventually getting on it.
So when you're looking for something where you can make
a difference, that's what our company loves to do.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
So let's talk also about Catholic Charities. For anyone who's
not familiar with what you do here in our community.
Aside from this program, what does tell us all about that?

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Sure? So, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada is actually one
of the largest social service providers in the entire state,
and we provide service regard regardless of religious race or creed.
So if you are in need, we are a one
stop shop to come into. We have sixteen programs doing
everything from helping new moms and dads give their children

(03:01):
a healthy start at life all the way to assuring
that no senior citizen goes hungry on our watch.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
It's one of the things that I've grown to love
about living here in Las Vegas is just how tight
knit this community is and how much we help our
own And I quickly learned what Catholic how big a
role Catholic Charities plays in doing that. Tom, you said
you've been You've been doing this program for what thirty
years now, right.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yes, I've been on the board for thirty years, over
half my life, so it's been on Catholic Charities board.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
And I would love to know from you, from someone
who's been involved for so long, what your favorite aspect
is of living in Las Vegas. What does it mean,
What does this community mean to you?

Speaker 2 (03:43):
This is the thing I love about this place, which
I fit into, is we're all from somewhere else. And
what I think is great about it when you hear
so much division in the world these days, is we
all come from somewhere else, we all get along, we
all solve problems, and then we look at these new
communities that we're putting roots down in and we work
to make them better. And that's true on the home

(04:04):
building side of things too.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Absolutely. And Sarah, you're kind of like myself, fairly, fairly
new to the Las Vegas area. What is it that
has struck struck you as so much about living here
that you love?

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Yeah. So I've been here six months now, and there's
a couple of things that I would say to that.
Number one is, we had no idea what we were
missing out missing out on, and now that we're here,
I say, we got here as soon as we could. Yeah.
And the genuinely in this city, the hospitality isn't just
extended on the resort corridor. That exceptional hospitality really is

(04:40):
interwoven throughout this entire city and it is a beautiful
thing to be a part of.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
It's one of the things I tell people about Las Vegas,
having been here for a little of a year and
a half myself, is that this city offers just all
of you know, the entertainment and the world class food
and things that you could imagine that one of the
biggest cities in the world would offer. But also so
it just has so much heart and community, the same
type you would find in like small towns all across America.

(05:07):
And that's what it means to me to live here.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
I agree with you completely. It's I never thought I'd
stay here as long as I have, and now I
can never imagine myself leaving. And this is I tell
anyone and everyone from all over the country, frankly all
over the world, this is literally the best city in
the world, and it's got the best people, and we care.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
It really does. And I would implore anyone just based
on what you're saying here today, Tom and your thirty
plus year involvement with the Board of Catholic Charities and
this new home or cash giveaway, work with Touchstone Living.
If you can, where do people find out more about
your organ your company and what it is you do here?

Speaker 2 (05:45):
You can go to Touchstone Living dot com. What does
most unique about us? As we are the only builder
who focuses strictly on the first time home buyer. We
turn renters into homeowners. And when it comes to this raffle,
the reason why we're offering money is we realize a
lot of the people that want to participate don't need
a home. If you already own a home, then purchasing

(06:07):
a home for us doesn't make any sense. But you
can win two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, and who
doesn't like to turn twenty five dollars into two hundred
and fifty thousand.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
That's a that is a very very great way to
put it. And for anyone who wants to get involved
with Catholic Charities, what would you like to tell them?

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Sarah?

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Sure, So we love having people come out and help
us carry out the mission and volunteer with us, you know,
first and foremost, please visit Vegasnewhome raffle dot com, purchase
a ticket, and while you're on the website, you can
sign up to learn more about Catholic Charities and come
out and see the mission and action and know where
your twenty five dollars is going.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Pretty exciting stuff here this morning. For as little as
twenty five dollars on a single Raffle ticket where you
said fifty tickets for five hundred dollars, amazing, you could
score yourself a brand new home from Touchstone Living value
at three hundred and sixty thousand dollars or a quarter
million dollars cash. And of course this is going to
raise one million dollars for Meals on Wheels helping food

(07:07):
and secure seniors right here in the valley. Sarah Ramirez
from Catholic Charities. Tom McCormick touched one Living. Thank you
both so much for coming in here talking about this.
I think it's going to be a massive success.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Thank you so much, and we look forward to it.
