Speaker 1 (00:00):
Las Vegas wakes Up with Joanna and Sean.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Here's what you missed on Sunday Mornings. It's Joanna annas Sean.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
If you and your children have social media, this one's
going to be interesting this morning because if you haven't
seen the news, there's actually been some pretty major rulings
this week against a lot of social media giants. It
looks like everybody's been kind of under the.

Speaker 4 (00:21):
Spotlight, particularly Meta and YouTube. So the big thing yesterday
that was on every TV in our building and I
think on a lot of people's timelines, was that Meta
and YouTube were found guilty of causing one user mental
distress and creating design features that lead to addiction to
social media addiction. So it was around a six million
dollar ruling. So Meta and YouTube have to pay a

(00:42):
bunch of money in this ruling, which is, let's be honest,
six million a drop in the bucket for companies like
that large right for sure. But this also follows ruling
from tuesday in the state of New Mexico where Meta
was found guilty of not protecting young users from predators.
That was a three hundred and seventy five million dollar ruling,
which is for some reason getting less attention than yesterday's ruling.

(01:05):
But what this does, I think is it starts the
domino effect on us seeing less social media use or
safer social media use. I think these companies are going
to have their feet held at the fire in terms
of creating more safeguards and forcing them to be way
more diligent about what they're allowing users to do on

(01:26):
those platforms and see.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Yeah, and and if they are going to see those
things and have warnings alongside those things, I think that's
kind of what the drawers like agreed on, is that
like there was no warning signs for some of the
stuff that you know, this person was exposed to. I mean,
honestly what all of us are exposed to, because you know,
the person who was taking them to court said that,

(01:50):
you know, she had major health mental health issues, stuff
like depression, body dysmorphia, suicidal thoughts, like it was really
heavy stuff. And listen, all of us are exposed to it.
A lot of us see it without any type of warning.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
I can't tell you how addicted I feel I am
sometimes right like, I will cop to that and say, look,
if I a grown adult have a hard time putting
down my phone or immediately wanted to, Like how many
times have you closed Instagram and then immediately opened it
back up as a snap response because your phone was
in your hand, right. Yeah, if I as a grown

(02:25):
adult and that's susceptible to it, kids are insanely more
susceptible to this kind of thing, So you know, and
I know it's on us as parents to police that
and to coach them and to help you.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Know, I get that part of it.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
But at the same time, this is these are the
kinds of rulings that are going to make these companies
just pay that much more attention, help prevent things like
the cyber bullying and the addiction. And you know, this
might go the same way as cigarette use. After we
saw those rulings decades and decades ago they had things
had to get safer, smoking curbed. We might we might
start seeing the decline of social media. I can only pray.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
I mean, I think we all have experienced that like
rush right from like notifications, yeah a like messages, and
that's like why we keep going back and checking our phones,
like who commented on this?

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Like who's that me? A message here?

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Like there is that rush we all feel and that
has to translate to addictive. Something addictive that we're seeing
in these screens. It's it's very scary, especially his parents
raising kids. And you know, I mean, listen, I have
a four year old. He loves the iPad. Not gonna lie,
I mean, but he's he's in a world where like
it's everywhere, So how could he not?

Speaker 4 (03:34):
You know, Yeah, it's it'll be nice to see hopefully
these companies start pulling away from these programmed endorphin rushes
we're all getting.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
It's all it's all intentional.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
So that said, lighter news on the horizon here, we
do always do a sunny story of the day, Juanna,
find something, some good news to make you smile, usually local,
if we can help it.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (03:53):
All right?

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Well, today's study story of the day is going to
be all about giving back with a chance to win
a dream home and the ultimate Vegas Golden Knights fan
experience will tell you how to win those things.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Coming up next to today's sunny story of the day.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Good vines, good people, and good news.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Time for your sunny story of the day.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
All right, Well, local positivity have you found for us
this morning?

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Joanna?

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Well, this is going to give people a reason to
smile and maybe even win a new house.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
All right, So I think we've talked about this before.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
There is this annual campaign for Saint Jude Children's Research
Hospital here in our local community called Saint Jude Dream Home.
And what happens is is there's fourteen thousand tickets up
for grabs. You can purchase one for one hundred dollars
and it's your ticket to win possibly a fully furnished

(04:43):
dream home right here in Las Vegas, about two thousand
square feet of home that's fully furnished.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
It's pretty just pretty incredible.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
I don't think there's a I don't know if there's
a bigger, cooler thing that I've heard of.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I mean, seriously, Now, this year's.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Dream Home is located in Alian. It is built by
Richmond American Homes, and I've looked at the pictures. It's
absolutely beautiful. Three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and
again it is.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Fully furnished because Walker Furniture hand.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Picked out every single piece inside this dream home. And
you could win it for just a one hundred dollars
donation to get that.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Raffle ticket on hundred dollars feel like a pretty reasonable ask,
fats honestly, and.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Of course the heart of the story is that every
ticket helps Saint jude Children's Research Hospital, which continues to
care for kids fighting, you know, life threatening illnesses, and
that money also stays here in our community, affecting families
from Las Vegas who are patients at Saint Jude's Children's
Research Hospital.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Incredible cost.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, that's amazing.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
So if you want to check out the house and
purchase a ticket, you should do that right now.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
It could be your lucky day. Open up all the

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Sean right here on Sunday one it is six point five.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Another beautiful day to introduce another incredible woman, a part
of our annual Women Who Shine program where we really
shine a spotlight on incredible voices of women here in
our community making an impact.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
This morning, we want to say welcome to Natalie Sewertson.
She is the director of Marketing in Public Relation for
the Women's Health Associates of Southern Nevada.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
Good morning, good morning, happy to be here.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
We're so happy to talk with you, so we're going
to just kick things off by helping our audience get
to know you a little bit better. How long have
you been here in Southern Nevada? What led you to
your career at Women's Health Associates of Southern Nevada.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
I have been in Las Vegas for about fifteen years.
I grew up in Colorado, came here, never thought I
would end up in Vegas. Love it so happy here.
I work at Women's.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Health Associates of Southern Nevada.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
I have been there for eleven years now, so I
have seen it go from just a handful of doctors
to more than one hundred providers and more than four
hundred and fifty employees, so it has grown a ton
since I've been there. We have a huge impact on
women in Southern Nomada. I think last year we delivered
more than eight thousand babies.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
It's something awesome to be a part of.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Do you have any other like words of wisdom, maybe quotes,
things that you live by that you find inspiring that
we could pass on to our listeners.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
I have a corkboard next to my desk that you know,
I glance at multiple times throughout the day. But one
of my favorite quotes on there by the lovely Dida Fantis.
She says, you can be the ripest, juiciest peach in
the world, and there's still going to be somebody out
there who hates peaches.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
That is such a good quote.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
And you said you look at that every single day, yes,
And it's such a good reminder that you know, some
people don't like peaches. They like their kiwi, or sometimes
they like their greens, starchy bananas.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
I'm not a.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
Fan of the green starchy bananas. But that's the whole point, right,
Like everybody has their own preferences, their own things that
they gravitate toward. And I'd rather be, you know, the
best peach I can be than somebody else's green starts bananas.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Oh that's so good.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
And as a mom, because I know you're raising children
here in the valley, like that's something great to teach.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Them right at a young age. Right, it's just.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Like you don't have to be like everybody else, and
everyone's gonna like, you're not gonna be friends with everybody else,
and that's okay.

Speaker 5 (08:16):
Right, they can be their own quirky little selves.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
And I love that. Yeah, that's amazing.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Thank you so much Natalie for being a part of
our annual Women Who Shine program, And also shout out
Natalie in Women's Health and Saches of Southern Nevada because
you guys have been a day one partner in one
of sey one of six point five's biggest fundraisers are
Las Vegas's largest.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Baby shower that benefits Baby's Bounty.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
You saw the importance of that right at the beginning,
and you've been with us ever since.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
So thank you. Of course.

Speaker 5 (08:42):
It is such a fun event to be a part of,
makes such a huge impact. Please come out donate, It's
gonna be a good one.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Yes, what to watch, where to go?

Speaker 1 (08:53):
And what everyone's talking about?

Speaker 4 (08:55):
Here we go, Joe in the now, Joe Anna, what's
happening in the Entertainment Report today?

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Well, Pamela Anderson, she's making headlines again for all the
right reasons. So she's partnered up with the brand Airy
for its one hundred Airy Real campaign, which takes a
very firm stand against using AI generated models or bodies
in advertising.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Guaranteed, he would just like us.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
I love pam for this.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Now she says, what I think all of us think
nothing can replace real people, and.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
This campaign is all about that.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
So love that Pamela Anderson is leading that charge. And
you're gonna love this one because I love a good
rumor out there.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Shaquille O'Neill is clearing the air.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Have you seen the AI generated screenshots of what people
are saying? Are flirty, steamy dms to Serena Carpenter from
Shack No.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
But I'm not surprised they exist.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
That seems like exactly the kind of thing AI would
would come up with.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
They're definitely funny.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
But he did address it on his podcast with humor,
of course, reminding fans how easy.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
It is for these false stories to get out there
and telling people don't believe.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
What you see on social media.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
This is AI.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
Generated and don't slide into Sabrina Carpenter's DMS on announce.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
I mean, listen, if anybody's gonna do it, let it
be Shack Why not?

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Why that's entertainment Reportman This morning, I'm Joe about You're
in the No sign one oh six point side.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
It's Joanna and Sean seven oh two seven nine six
one six y five to chime in on what we're
talking about this morning. So I have a girlfriend of mine, Sean,
who's been complaining a lot in our kind of like
tight knit like friend group about being the only.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
One who is still single.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
And it's a bit of a tough situation because she's
not listening to any of us about adjusting her standards
and expectations. I mean, I'm just gonna give you example
kind of how she is. A guy she meets, you know,
on like a dating app or whatever is like, hey,
i'd love, you know, to take you on a date,
and she's excited about it. She said yes, and then
he tells her like, you know, let's meet for coffee here,

(11:01):
and she automatically is like turned off by the fact that,
like he's not offering to take her to like a
nice dinner.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
And it's hard for a lot of us to like
flat out be like, girl, you serious, Like a coffee
date is like what the norm? Like this normal behavior
for me for singles these days, like, and she thinks
it's just like lowering her standards by agreeing to something
like that and like setting the tone up front, and
we're like, girl, you're crazy, No, you need to adjust your.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Standards, right if meeting someone to you as a priority.
Then accept the coffee date. See where it goes from there?
Right right, Terrence is on the line, Terrence, what do
you think is she? Is she being too boogie about this?

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Or what way too boozy?

Speaker 6 (11:40):
Man? You could go to a coffee shop that don't
have chairs and learn more about a person and taking
them out on the expensive dinner. Brother.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Hey, Terrence, we agree with you here. It's so true.
There's nothing wrong coffee dates.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
Yeah, man, you don't need it. I mean you're probably
going to be distracted because they're going to have a.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Five course meal and they're gonna be always asking are
you okay? How is it?

Speaker 3 (12:01):
You'll never have a chance to have a good conversation.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Very very very true.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
So you think the coffee dates the way to go?

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Just just pull back a little bit, keep it simple,
hey man.

Speaker 6 (12:10):
We could go sit in the park and I'll bring
two bottles of water so our mouthphone get drive talking.
How about that? Well?

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Did you hopeless romantic? Terrace?

Speaker 4 (12:18):
We love that I hopeless dehydrated romantic? Thank you, Terrence,
appreciate you seven O two.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Seven nine six one o six five.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
Does she need to lower her standards or just keep
them right where they're at.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Sonny one or six point five.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Sonny when it was six point five, Good morning, it's
Johanna Anna Sean. So I'm kind of airing out a
girlfriend of mine this morning because her standards and dating
is just way too high seven oh two seven nine
six one oh six five. Recently, in my tight knit
friend group, a girlfriend who is one of the only
ones who's still single told us she's not happy about it,

(12:59):
and we're telling her, girl, you have to adjust your
standards and expectations.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
They're a little too high.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
An example of that is a guy recently that she
was interested on a dating app offered to take her
on a coffee date as the first date, and she
was like, absolutely not. First date should be at like
fancy restaurants. And we're like, girl, no, coffee dates are cool.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
So Terrence and I got to agree with Terrence.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
He's like, look, we have a couple of bottles of
water in the parking lot, you know, and get to
know each other. I get to know each other. Yeah,
I mean coffee date. I think we both read here
is standard. Christina might disagree, So what do you think
is should should Joanna's friend here? Kind of lower her
expectation when it comes to first dates or what.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Absolutely not. Oh and here's why, because I can't tell
you how many times that I've been like.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Yeah, I'll just go along with whatever. It's okay, and you.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
Know what you get, you get whatever.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
So if you know what you want, you should ask
for what you want because anyone who doesn't go for.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
That is not going to be the right person for you.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Like, you teach people how to treat you, and she's
trying to teach people how to treat her.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Okay, that's not a bad perspective, Christina.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
I could see that you think that she needs to
keep the bar high for whoever this special guy is,
this special imaginary guy that's in her brain. Yep, yep.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Okay, wow, interesting, Okay, A good way to.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Look at it, right, Yeah, absolutely, because if you start
off lower lowering the bar, that's where you're going to say.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
If you start off lowering the bar.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
You got to write that one down right there, Christina,
Thank you for that one.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
All right. Well, I don't know, it's tough.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
I mean, the thing is, I love what Christina just
said right now, but my friend's also complaining constantly that
she's single, so there's got to be some type of adjustment.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Christina, Uh, thank you for the call. Appreciates you, Yep,
thank you. I Uh look, man, we're dating's tough. I'm
not saying lower your standards, but let's be realistic here,
all right, We're we're in our thirties and forties and
you're trying to meet that person you it's early forty.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Maybe start with coffee.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Right, Start with coffee, nothing wrong with that.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Coming up next, we got an hour of commercial for
music for you and Disneyman tickets as well.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
Sign up now to win at Sunnywino sixty five dot
com eight forty.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
We're calling a name.

Speaker 6 (15:13):
Sun six.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Meta and YouTube have been found liable and a first
of us kind lawsuit over social media addiction.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
And we got to talk about it. Good morning.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
It's Joetna and Sean right here on Sunny when it
was six point five. This is the first of its
kind lawsuit and in the winner obviously was the person
who was suing Meta and YouTube And this is just setting.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
A huge present.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
I think.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
So this unnamed uh complaint and I can't think of
the word for it, but anyway, they were suing for
mental health distress and addictive design features and meta and
YouTube were found guilty. It's like a six million dollar sentiment,
which for them is dropping the bucket. But go back
to Tuesday, they lost another lawsuit in New Mexico for

(15:59):
three hundred and seventy five million dollars pertaining to protecting
minors from predators online. So I think what we're seeing,
Joanna here is the first few dominoes that are falling
with regard to social media in our in our world.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
Yeah, I think instead of just like videos starting to
like play your certain photos popping up, I think there's
going to be a lot more warnings coming our way
on social media because these lawsuits are showing that people
can win when it comes to like things like addiction.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Yeah, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
And we need the safeguards in place because I think
even as an adults, I can safely say I'm addicted
in a lot of cases to social media, and I
think our kids are even more susceptible than we are.
We are we are all part of this attention economy
that all these social media places are fighting for, and
they're going to cut every corner and program every addictive
thing they can until they're stopped. I think this is

(16:56):
where it starts to come to an end for that.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Everybody knows that rush of a social media ping that
pops up a little notification.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
You're like, what are they? Like, who's sending me a message?
What is it?

Speaker 3 (17:07):
And then you become addicted and it's like, oh, yeah,
this is going to cause our young people all at harm.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
Yeah, exactly, it's all digital endorphins. So we'll see which
way the cookie crumbles here on the way.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
We got some fun stuff going on.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
Today, our iHeartRadio Music Awards finally back.

Speaker 2 (17:22):

Affiliate Who. By the way, Taylor's gonna be on hand tonight.
She will be at the award show. You know, she's
gonna be breaking out those white girl dance moves.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
I can't wait to see that, and I can't wait
to see what she's gonna wear.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Is Travis gonna be there with her?

Speaker 3 (18:16):
I mean, this is her first like major public appearance
in twenty twenty six, at least her.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
First award show for sure. But you know what I'm
most excited at for Sean What's.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
That is TLC, Solomn, Pepa and en Vogue performing together
for the first time before they go on tour.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
So it's like we're getting a preview of.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
What's to come when they get here in Vegas this October.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
But that's the performance I want to see.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
I think, speaking performances in general, what always happens at
our awards is you get these collaborations that you never
see outside of our Iheartbreading Music Awards. So you know,
is Ludacris, who, by the way, is hosting and performing.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
Is he gonna do a mash up with Alex Warren?

Speaker 4 (18:52):
You never know, because Alex Warren is performing, You'll get
a second crack at performing after that little Grammy's mishappen.

Speaker 7 (18:58):
I know, And the whole world is rude him right
like we all want him to do so well tonight,
So I'm so excited to see, you know what he does.
How he sounds just like everybody in the audience standing
up for him hopefully, like it's going to be a
pretty awesome night and epic performances for sure.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
John Mellencamp getting the Icon Award, Miley Cyrus going to
be receiving the Innovator Award. Lots to look forward to tonight.
