Speaker 1 (00:00):
Las Vegas wakes Up with Joanna and Sean. Here's what
you missed on Sunday Mornings.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Huge news yesterday made outside of Allegiance Stadium. We are
getting another super Bowl. It's going to be our second
one since Super Bowl fifty eight back in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
I think we can all embrace ourselves for the incoming
texts from friends, family, out of towners that are going
to be trying to visit for the super Bowl. Of course,
and of course the text can you get tickets? Right?

Speaker 1 (00:27):
I got?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Oh my god twenty twenty four when Super Bowl fifty
eight was here. How many text messages did you get
from people that were like, Hey, do you have the
plug on tickets?

Speaker 1 (00:35):
No?

Speaker 3 (00:35):
I don't have No, I have no plug on super
Bowl tickets for you. I mean I I play Cindy Lauper.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I was fortunate enough to go through my son's work.
My son my husband's work connection. He was doing a
filming project, got contracted to a filming project for them,
and so I got to go and be an assistant
A plus one and I love you know, I love
that Listen that was am I in. It was through
somebody who was working the event. I don't, you know,

(01:03):
I don't think lightning strikes twice like that.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
And I'm fine with it, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I just think the energy that comes to our city
with a super Bowl is pretty special. And listen, I
was super stoked to go to like a lot of
the fan fest like that was set up around it.
That like you didn't need to spend thousands of dollars
to attend.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
That stuff was really cool too.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Yeah, and the big I mean they had like a
big I don't mean, I don't necessarily want to call
it a convention, but it was at the Convention Center
at Mandalay Bay, that giant Yeah, the fan fest.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Oh, that's okay, that's what we're talking about, the same thing.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Yeah. And I took my son to that, Like I
didn't take my son to the super Bowl, but it
took my son to that, and that was so cool.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
I mean definitely, I mean Freemont Street takes on a
different vibe for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
I Mean, the city certainly comes alive here.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I will say this, I think it's great for the
city as a whole, right economically speaking, brings it a
lot of dollars, a lot of energy. I like that
every time we get something like this happening here. It
turns our city more and more into like this words,
capital of the world. But it also makes it harder
to fight that battle of can we get that free
parking back?

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, that's tough.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
I mean I think that there's just so much excitement
around it. I mean, let's see, it brought Taylor Swift
tour city last time, right, I mean, what did Travis
Kelsey just sign another three year deal? She could potentially
be back here. Maybe we'll see. That's what I'm rooting for.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
But the proms certainly outweigh the cons, especially if Taylor
Swift shows up.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
In your city.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I mean, that's just my personal day, got it?

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Six point?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
We all deserve to laugh a little bit, So let's
do that this morning together.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
The stories you can't believe are real, but they totally are.
It's the sunny funny.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
What's going on? It's Johanna and Sean man naming a
baby candy hard But this couple, maybe they figured out
the solution.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
I have such a great sunny funny today. We all
have a friend that takes the march madness brackets like
a little too serious couple. I think they took it
to an entirely different level. My most intense March Madness
bracket of all time. There's a couple in Florida letting
the tournament decide their baby's names.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
This is wild.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
So they took all sixty four teams, right, and they
paired each one with a baby name that they like.
So every time a team gets eliminated, Joanna, that name
is just gone from consideration.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Okay, who likes sixty four names?

Speaker 1 (03:26):
I like maybe six maybe.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
So what's wild here is that at this point, like
two of their quote unquote number one seeds, right, two
of the big names that they loved, they're already out.
So Olivia and Sophia are no longer any consideration for
their baby.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
And so I'm guessing they gave their very favorite names
to like the top contenders, right, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Okay, so we're down to the final four now this weekend, right,
so their baby will either be Daniella, Lucia Andrena or Valentina. Okay,
I still think there's are all pretty pretty good choices right.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
There, pretty good, pretty solid choices. I mean, there are
the top top teams are still left, so you know,
they had to have really liked those names. I would
assume if they if they gave it to those teams.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Right, no pressure in any of these teams playing either, Right. Like,
imagine being on one of these teams and knowing that
you know your free throws might be deciding what this
couple names their kid.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Right.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
And Originally when you told me about this, I thought
maybe like they picked their names and they made it
bracket style and then they let their friends and family
like vote, But no, this is up to the teams
total strangers was determining the baby's name.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
This is totally totally wild. I just have so many questions,
like what happens if they hate the winning name. I mean,
there's a lot of pressure for those teams. It's I
do think it's I'll say this, it's incredibly creative, and
I think it's a great story to tell your kid
eventually about how they got their name and she.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Better play back basketball.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Yeah, your name came down to a buzzer beater, by
the way.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Kiddo, I love that. What a great story. Coming up next.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Something else to make is it's our sunny story of
the day, a little daily dose of positivity.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
What'd you find today?

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, I'm want to tell you how a simple T
shirt is helping save lives right here in our community.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
That's next to today's sunny Story of the day, good vibes,
good people, and good news. Time for your sunny story
of the day.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
We try to put you in a good mood every
single morning, and I think our sunny story that day
helps with that.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Would you find today, Joanna?

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Yeah, if you're looking for maybe an easy way to
do some good here in our community, We've got.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
The story for you.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
So the American Red Cross says that spring break time
is usually a pretty tough time for blood donations. You know,
people are traveling, schedules are are all over the place,
but the need for blood is still there.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Never takes a break, right, Nope.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
So to help boost donations right now, the Red Cross
has teamed up with the feel good brand Life is Good.
And anybody who you know decides to donate blood over
the next couple of weeks, they're going to get a
limited addition Life is Good T shirt.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
It'll it never ceases to amaze me the lengths that
people are willing to go for a free T shirt
on one of them.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Absolutely, and especially a Life is good brand one that's
good quality right there.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Now here's the best part.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
I think one donation can help save up to three lives,
So you know, just think about that next time. Maybe
you know you're rolling up your sleeve, you're deciding to
get the poke. You are helping out a lot of
people out there, and you know, hospitals they really rely
on blood supplies every single day, and that's right here
in our community. So the need is there. And maybe

(06:28):
a T shirt, will you know, make you decide to
make that appointment today.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Yeah, T shirt or not, I'm overdue to donate myself.
So this is just a nice reminder this morning as well.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
So we're gonna put up all the details right now
at Sunny Window six five dot com, or you can
sign up to make your blood donation appointment and that's
your Sunny Story of the day.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Now, Tony's been on hold with us for a little bit.
Good morning, Tony. Tell us that good news you're feeling
on this Tuesday. What's going on?

Speaker 4 (06:53):
I bought a scratch ticket like two weeks ago and
I kept it in my pocket.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Yeah, and I forgot it was there.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
Yesterday I went in scratched it and I scratched off
for five hundred bucks.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Oh five hundred bucks. That's nice, and it was a
tubbus return on investment. Somebody let this. Let Tony teach
you about ROI today know that.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
Grabs Tony Sonny ont six sunny when I was six
point five.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Good morning, It is Johanna Anda Sean, and we love
Women's History Month that We've been so honored to bring
back our annual Women Who Shine program sponsored by Wow
car Wash, and this year we have highlighted women from
all industries, all walks of life making Southern Nevada a
better place. And another incredible woman, Grace is our studio

(07:47):
this morning, Sean sa.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Good morning to Serene Aguila from Beauty by Serene. Now
you're not only are you a business owner, You've done
like so much other stuff around town.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (07:58):
So I've been a makeup artist six years. The same
year that I started doing makeup, Yeah, I became a
professional cheerleader for the Vagas School Tonight awesome, And I
also did two years with the Las Vegas Aces. That
same year or the same time I was a Viva.
We also won the Stanley Cup and then just last
year for the Aces we want a championship. So the

(08:20):
experiences like are so abundant, and uh yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
That on top of all that, you're a mom too.

Speaker 7 (08:28):
I am also a mom to a beautiful two year
old named Ellie Yanna. We're currently potty training right now.
So that kind of explains the trajectory of my life.
Kind of crazy.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Listen, It's very relatable to a lot of people out there,
and that's why we're so honored to be able to
talk with you today because you've done so much here
in Southern Nevada and then now you are a business owner.
So tell us how that kind of came to be.
Why did you decide to start beauty by Serene?

Speaker 7 (08:54):
Yeah, so in the dance world, we are constantly doing
hair and makeup, yeah, anything glam and I loved being
the teammate to help everyone out in that sure, they
would always come to me for advice, and I think
that's where my love for makeup and beauty just came.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah, I started.

Speaker 7 (09:12):
I committed to it at the same that a year
after I had my daughter. Okay, she is the reason
why I wanted to create a business and have something
for myself so she can have someone to look up
to and I pictured myself dancing for a really long
time until my love for makeup became even higher than
what it was for dance. Sure, dancing is really hard.
I obviously don't didn't think I was going to dance

(09:33):
for the rest of my life. It's so physically demanding
it is.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
And makeup making people feel beautiful something that's like timeless, right.

Speaker 7 (09:40):
Yeah, I mean it's it's definitely timeless, and it's always
a career that's going to be demanding in the entertainment world. Sure,
so I wanted to be in something that allowed me
to be in entertainment on top of glaming people and
make people feel confident and beautiful.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Right, And if we could do one more thing, just
like plug your Instagram really quick? Where can people learn
about your business and hire you?

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (10:02):
So on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok you can find me
at beauty by Serene. In each one of those social
media platforms. I have my link to my website where
you can book with me. You can see my policies,
how to book, what services I provide, pricing everywhere.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
All my information is on that awesome Thank you again, Surrey.
We appreciate your time this morning.

Speaker 7 (10:23):
Thank you guys for having me.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
What to watch, where to go, and what everyone's talking about?
Here we go, Joe in the now.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
If it's worth talking about, Joanna knows about it.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
What's happening.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
So yesterday Brandy was honored with the two thousand and
eight and thirty ninth star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Oh wow, that took a while. That's overdue.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, we're talking like thirty years overdue. I mean, Brandy
has been in the music, television and just really like
style culture industry forever.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Right.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
So she gave me very emotional speech when she was
accepting that honor, and she talked about, you know, going
from teenage superstar to becoming just a voice, respect voice
in the R and B music world these days.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
So congrats to her. That's a very special honor.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
She's got so many great songs. I'll be sitting up
in my room listening to them later.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
To the Boy's Mind, right, got too?

Speaker 6 (11:09):
Yeah, Now let's share gears to Taylor's Swift because of course,
why not?

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Big Taylor Swift news this morning, new music video for
Elizabeth Taylor has dropped.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
What yeah, you're just tell me about that? Now, well, listen,
it just dropped.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Like a half an hour ago, but you know, I
was checking it out online and this video definitely kind
of like leans hard into like the classic Hollywood glamour,
which I think a lot of people expected with it
being for the music's music for the song Elizabeth Taylor. Right,
so you know Taylor, everything she does is so like
not accidental, right, everything's with intention, And of course fans

(11:44):
are looking for those little those little easter eggs, those
little clues in the video as well.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Well as always, Taylor is the moment.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Absolutely And now some refreshing, honest Hollywood News Vanessa Hutchins.
She's opening up four months postpartum about like this is
what it's really like after you have a baby, and
so she shared a photo know of like clumps of hair.
She's struggling with postpartum hair loss right now. But you
know what, she's not pretending that everything just magically snaps back,
which a lot of celebrities do. Know. She's like keeping

(12:10):
it very real, which I think is so refreshing.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Right to show all the glitz and glamour, you.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Know, show the real stuff too, And I love that.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
So, you know, kudos to Vanessa Hutchins this morning. All right,
that jener damon report.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
I'm Joe and now you're in the no Suning one
o six point.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Thanks for waking up with us.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
I can't believe we're waking up and it's the last
day of March already.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
And you know what that means. April Fool's Day is tomorrow.
Watch out of those pranksters.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Look, I personally I love a good prank, but I
think the key to a good prank is that everyone
needs to be laughing right like it can't be. I
don't like mean pranks. I don't like mean spirited stuff.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
I'm gonna tell you what seawan pranks for me stopped
when I became like an adult with anxiety. Okay, you
got a friend who struggles with anxiety, A little anxious
takes the lexapro whatever it is.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Stay like.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Let those friends just live their life. Okay, they can't
handle any more.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Surprises, all right, right, exactly know your audience when it
comes to pranks, right exactly seven oh two seven nine
six one oh sixty five, Katrina, I think thanks for
the call. So what do you think here? Do we
need to get rid of the hijinks on April Fool's Day.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
I think it's just part of the fun.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Anybody that like thinks it's like mean or dumb just really.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
Needs to get a sense of humor.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Oh okay, so.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Tell us then, what do you think was the worst
prank that you had blade on you that you're kind
of like? Wow, okay, I had a good sense of
humor about this.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
One by my family played a prank got me that
my car was stolen. They just like moved it around
the blocks in my grandparents' house. But I legitimately thought
my car was gone.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
No, see this this is what I'm talking about, means
that's not a prank. That is that is cruel right there?

Speaker 1 (13:56):
Come on?

Speaker 5 (13:57):
Yeah, yeah, like I thought come on our drive right
of the night before, so like I.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Was thinking, like somebody legitimately stole it.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
I feel like I've seen that one on social media too,
like that's a good ee. But for me, again, someone
who battles with anxiety, it would send me in a spiral. Yeah, classic,
I'll chalk it up, is that I guess right?

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (14:18):
Seven o two seven nine six one six five We'll
take morek call.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Should we be getting rid of April.

Speaker 3 (14:25):

the day some that that should make you smile.

saving organization. But they found a clever way to combat
that this year, and I'm gonna fill you in on
those details and how you can help coming up next
in today's Sunny Story of the Day.

is tomorrow? Are you ready for those pranks?

Speaker 3 (15:00):
I like good natured pranks, of course, good natured, good
spirited pranks. Brianna, thanks for the call here. What do
you think. Are you over the April Fools jokes?

Speaker 1 (15:08):
No?

Speaker 5 (15:08):
I love April fool Day.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
My mom was a huge April Fools Day lady.

Speaker 5 (15:14):
Like she's she would encourage it actually, so it was
like you never We had like old timey.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
April Fools Day things like my brother.

Speaker 5 (15:22):
Used to load up aluminum foil and in little balls
and put them like right on the top of the refrigerator,
so you'd open the door so all the balls would fall.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
Down, or like they always like the swisherroo the sugar
to the salt. Yeah, that was always a good one.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
And my mom, do you know what short sheeting the
bed is that too? Like old timey but like you
make the bed halfway and so you get in and
it's like.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
Your feet don't go all the way down because you
would like short sheet the bed. But we used to
do that stuff.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Like, well, listen, I mean sounds like you've got great
memories there and you kind of want to keep that
spirit a live.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
That's awesome. Yeah, mom was a prankster.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
She was a prank She was amazing.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Will you tell us your mom's name?

Speaker 5 (16:07):
Her name?

Speaker 4 (16:07):
Yeah, oh, pretty name, very nice.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Well, I mean it looks sounds like she's probably pulling
pranks on the other side.

Speaker 4 (16:15):
Now, huh she is so on the other side.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Yeah, love such good memories associated with that. We love
that for you, Brianna, thanks for chiming in this morning.

Kingdom of Fraud

Kingdom of Fraud

It’s the unlikeliest of criminal partnerships: a devout polygamist from an insular Utah sect joining forces with a shadowy Armenian tycoon from LA. The result - a billion dollar fraud conspiracy. In Kingdom of Fraud, investigative reporter Michele McPhee traces the origins of the extraordinary alliance between Jacob Kingston and Levon Termendzhyan. Together, the two men trigger the largest tax investigation in American history and weave around themselves a web of dirty cops, influential political relationships and transnational money laundering. All this is set against the backdrop of Jacob Kingston’s clan – The Order. A powerful and secretive polygamist organization in Salt Lake City. To whom Jacob is desperate to prove his worth.
