Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sunday Mornings with Joanna and Sean right here on Sunny One.
Who was six point five. Another beautiful day to introduce
another incredible woman, a part of our annual Women Who
Shine program where we really shine a spotlight on incredible
voices of women here in our community making an impact.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
This morning, we want to say welcome to Natalie Sewertson.
She is the director of Marketing in Public Relation for
the Women's Health Associates of Southern Nevada. Good morning, Good morning,
happy to be here.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
We're so happy to talk with you, So we're going
to just kick things off by helping our audience get
to know you a little bit better. How long have
you been here in Southern Nevada. What led you to
your career at Women's Health Associates of Southern Nevada.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
I have been in Las Vegas for about fifteen years.
I grew up in Colorado, came here, never thought I
would end up in Vegas. Love it so happy here.
I work at Women's Health Associates of Southern Nevada. I
have been there for eleven years now, so I have
seen it go from just a handful of doctors to
more than one hundred providers and more than four hundred

(01:00):
and fifty employees, so it has grown a ton since
I've been there. We have a huge impact on women
in Southern Nevada. I think last year we delivered more
than eight thousand babies. So it's something awesome to be
a part of.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
That's really cool, and eleven year career with any company
is outstanding. So congratulations. Would love to know Natalie from you,
you know, thinking back to when you first started, we's
just you know, at Women's Health Assaches of Southern Nevada.
What piece of advice would you have loved to receive
on that first day.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
I would say stop trying to do things the right way.
I was so focused on trying to do things perfectly
every time, and I realized that there really is no
right way to do things half the time. You know,
you kind of just have to trust your gut, trust
your instinct. And the things that I am most proud
of in my career are the times that I have,
you know, jumped outside the box, trusted myself to know

(01:52):
that hey I can I can do things that can
impact the company better than you know the textbook answers.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Sure, I love that, No, I think That's something that
we all want our kids to know, right, is that
perfect is sometimes the enemy of good. Just jump in,
trust your gut, things will work out in your favor,
right totally. Now, on that note, kind of do you
have any other like words of wisdom, maybe quotes, things that
you live by that you find inspiring that we could
pass on to our listeners.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
I have a corkboard next to my desk that you know,
I gland set multiple times throughout the day. But one
of my favorite quotes on there by the lovely Dida Fantis.
She says, you can be the ripest, juiciest peach in
the world and there's still going to be somebody out
there who hates peaches.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
That is such a good quote. And you said you
look at that every single day, huh.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yes, And it's such a good reminder that, you know,
some people don't like peaches. They like their kiwi, or
sometimes they like their greens, starchy bananas. I'm not a
fan of the green, starchy bananas. But that's the whole point, right, Like,
everybody has their own preferences, their own that they gravitate toward.
And I'd rather be, you know, the best peach. I

(03:05):
can be than somebody else's green starts you bananas. Oh
that's so good.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
And as a mom, because I know you're raising children
here in the valley, like that's something great to teach
them right at a young age. Right, it's just like
you don't have to be like everybody else. Not everyone's
gonna like you're not gonna be friends with everybody else.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
And that's okay, right, they can be their own quirky
little selves. And I love that.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Yeah, that's amazing. Now going off that a little bit,
you know, you obviously have words of wisdom that you
look to, but is there anything like lyrically or song
wise that really just represents you, motivate you. You'd consider
your anthem song that just gets you going.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
We're going a little bit back in time here to
you know, the early aughts. But every time we touch
by Cascatta. You know when when you catch on fire
they say, stop, drop and roll. Kind of my motto
is like when that song comes on, you stop, you
drop everything and you reach for this guy, like she says,
I mean, you just can't. It's a moment of clarity life. Yeah, yeah,

(04:03):
recenters you.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
It sets the mind.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
I like that that's that's a sleeper pick. Right, That's
a good one though, that's no the one we got
to add to the women who Shine playlists that we
have to make. Absolutely So, do you have any women
in your life that have been super helpful in your
career or your life that you'd love to maybe talk
about a little bit.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Yes, And I could spend all day talking about them,
you know, I can't pick one.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Yea.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
You know they say, like, it takes a village to
raise a child, but what do you do when you're
an adult? Right Like, now that I'm an adult, it's
my sisterhood that's raising me. Really, I have, you know,
the one friend who's the intellect, I have the listener,
I have the go getter, and each one of them
really gives me something that I lack, right Like, it's
the combination of all of them that really lifts me up.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Wow. I like that answer too, Natalie, just hitting us
on all these good answers this morning.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I heard something a while back that said, you become
the average of the three piece you spend the most
time with. Oh yeah, and I think that is extremely accurate.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yeah, you need to surround yourself with the right people.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Exactly, and that you need those people that are going
to help you in the areas where you need the
most help. So it sounds like you got a really
good circle around you.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah, and a great reminder that it's not too late
to cut out the bad ones this morning if you
have any that do not make you feel as good
as Natalie feels this morning being in studio with us.
So thank you so much Natalie for being a part
of our annual Women Who Shine program. And also shout
out Natalie in Women's Health Assaches of Southern Nevada because
you guys have been a day one partner in one
of sundy one oh six point five's biggest fundraisers, are

(05:34):
Las Vegas's largest baby shower that benefits Baby's Bounty. You
saw the importance of that right at the beginning and
you've been with us ever since, So thank you.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Of course, it is such a fun event to be
a part of, makes such a huge impact. Please come out, donate,
It's gonna be a good one. Yes,
