How did your journey into comedy first start?

My journey started in uh twenty nineteen.

Shout out to Tommy five thousand gave me the opportunity
to do a comedy competition, a brown Sugar Sugar Yeah,
and I was able to get into that competition and
win seven weeks straight.

And then and then from there, it just it just started.

Tommy five thousand is one of those comedians that you know,
he's he's been in the game for some time now,
I believe, you know, over twenty years, and he's done
nothing but open doors, you know, for people like myself.
So from there, I started doing shows with Tommy, I
started doing uh, you know, touring.

Actually COVID hit.

I can say I was right before COVID, right before.

COVID and I took a pause.

But I even then, I was like, I'm not I'm
not gonna do it. At the time, I didn't know
if this was the step that I needed to know
I could make.

You know, And then twenty twenty two came around and
I went full force and never looked back.

And today I'm here going state to state, you know,
selling out shows comedy clubs, like, you know, for a comedian.

It's important to just came from Miami.

Yeah, yeah, it just came from Miami. Did the improv? Like,
did the improv.

Prior to the Brown Sugar right, prior to that situation?
What what led you into saying, you know what, I
want to be a comedian?

Did you always have the passion that we always you know,
did you always know like this is what I wanted
to do?

I did you know.

I could remember going back to like when I was
like thirteen years old. I used to write on my
calendar every New Year's I used to write, this year,
I'm going to do comedy's fire every year, bro, Like
every year thirteen years old, fourteen years old January. First
resolution is this year I'm going to do comedy.

And then everyone always tell you you funny.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Bro.

My mother used to go to Atlantic City for free
because they used to be like, may not just bring
them and put them in front of the bus to
say cheesters, And I.

Would just be there talking to people for a whole
two hours, three hours and a half.

My mother go to Extlantic City for free and people
I would entertain people. Bro, I'll be like seven, eight
years old. That's always done it, bro.

In college.

In college, I used to have a teacher that was like, yo, bro,
if you don't disturb the class, I'll give you ten
minutes at the end of the class just because I
enjoy you.

doors for all of us in different ways. And I
was at that competition you really killed it. I was
at that competition. I used to promo with Tommy back then.
It was a lot of fun. But you you really
killed it and you continue to kill it. And what's
beautiful is that you now turn around and open the

door for those that are coming after you. Yes, and
it's very beautiful that you turn around and provide that gift,
that platform, that voice for people who may not have that,
and not everyone does that, So it's really nice that
you turn around and you're all about your community and
and uplifting those that are coming up.

Of course, you know, I truly believe that we're not
going to do this on our own.

There's bro there's so many talented comedians out there, so many,
it's just unfortunately they don't get the platform, they don't
get the eyes.

You thank God every day you know that you were chosen.

So if I have the opportunity of putting three hundred
people in the room that are coming to see me,
why not. You know, That's why my Splewing Friends. I
love doing the Slewing Friends because not only do I
give my friends opportunities, but I always pick at least
two or three comedians that. You know, they just they
just haven't been seen yet, but I know they really
got it.

I want to do comedy. I was like, bet February
twenty if I got a show, five minutes to get ready?
She was like, I was like, get ready, you know?
So yeah, man, you know that's how it is. I mean,
got okay, I've always thought about doing comedy. Word, but
I got to show next week.

Let's go be ready, so you don't have to get
ready exactly, so you know.

Tell me. Used to do that to me all the time.

Comedians used to do that to me all the time.

And then the next thing you know, you're standing on
the stage.

And you didn't even know. You're like trying to talk
to Shorty like what's up? Tell my man splew. You're like, whoa,
what's happening here? Yo, Splew come on the stage. You're like, ship,
I wasn't I wasn't ready, but you gotta you know,
you get in there.

So so do you always you always keep like a
list of things in your head, like you just probably
comes naturally to you that we could just freeze down
the spot.

Sometimes sometimes you get so nervous you don't know what
to say.

You started spicking people out of the crowd making fun
of him. Nah, that's what you do.

So that works if you're like already know like you know,
your know the comedian, and people like expecting you go
cut out some people. They all love it. If nobody
knows you that you can't go there, they're going.

We have we have one. Yeah, we have a friend
that does that. He goes into the crowd. No one's safe.
But you see say, but that's his thing is when.
Speaker 6 (09:31):
Is like six hundred and fifty thousand followers doing shows
in Dominican Republic, doing shows all around the state. People
are expecting it. They know that's this thing. So he's
putting six hundred people in the room and they waiting
for it. They hope that they get picked for him
to cut out.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
They have the cell phones ready, yeah, waiting ready.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
Well, I mean you obviously, you know, you have a
following of your own. Let's not let's not tone that down.
I mean, you just sell out United Palace. You know
what does that mean for you? Like what did that
moment mean for you? Like emotionally and for your career?

It was a it was a it was a sign
that I'm that I'm doing the right thing, that I'm working,
you know, Like I try not to take.

a big head of it.

You know, a lot I've seen bro I used to
get people shit on me because they had seventy thousand follows.

doors are you know, just like super open for everyone.
So I try to just keep working every day, sell
out United Palace, sell out comedy clubs. It's just it

just gives me more fuel to just be like, what's next,
what's the bigger what's the bigger step?

And you not only do comedy, but you also were
on a spot speaking about community and culture. Romeo Santos
and Prince Royce announced their tour and Splew you made
an appearance in that announcement trailer. How did that come about?
Speaker 6 (11:11):
They reached out to me, well, Romeo. Romeo had someone
directly reach out to me. I did a video for
when they released the album Better Late Than Ever.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
I did a video of one of the songs and
he reposted it. So I was like, and you were like,
I made it. At that point, I called my job
like I think I'm coming over there.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
I'm not looking at you know.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
I send it to everybody.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I mean, share this link real quick.
Speaker 6 (11:39):
And they reached out to me and they were like, hey,
Romeo wants to work with you. I was like, yo,
I ain't got time for this ship today. Man, I
don't know who's to stop. So next thing, you know,
Johnny Marine shout out to Johnny Marine. He gets on
the phone with me and he's like, yo, Romeo want
to work with you. And I was like, yo, stop
playing who's this And he's like, Yo, it's Johnny bro
Like it's me.

You want me to FaceTime you?
Speaker 3 (12:01):
And You're like yeah, as a matter of fact, really yes.

So it was like right away, you know, Johnny called
me like on a Wednesday, like what you're doing Thursday?
I'm like, sure, whatever I want, whatever y'all want, you know,
And sure enough, you know, I got there Thursday. That
gave me the location, pulled up and we did the video. Man,
when I tell you, when that was released, epic people

hit me up more for that video than my birthday.

Bro, Like I people from Dr Yo you met that's Ai. No,
that's not.

For that was That was definitely a big moment. It
was a It was a great way to close out
twenty twenty five. You know, I made the decision twenty
twenty five. I made the decision that twenty twenty six,
I just want to depend on entertainment business, just the
entertainment business, comedy, movies, anything I could do. Yeah, twenty

twenty five with that video of Romeo. By then I
was working two jobs. For whatever reason, there was management
issues at my job. They was like, hey, we're reducing
your precision. We gotta let you go. My second job
December twenty ninth, they was like, yo, your license didn't
get approved for your security license, so we gotta let
you go. After that video, I got movie opportunities, I

got contract opportunity. I really came into twenty twenty six
fully depending on the entertainment business.

Once you get to do what you love and provide
and be able to take care of your bills and
do what you gotta do and just focus on that,
that's it's different.

Able to Now you can just focus twenty four to
seven on which your goal is and entertainment and your craft.

not just amen to all the A four engine. But
it's not just you know what I'm laughing about. But
it's not just your comedy shows. So Splew does this

thing and you'll see it on your feed. I think
it's someone else's video and they'll do whatever, and then
he does the reactions to it. But the thing is,
I'm already reacting to the videos in his tone, not
knowing that it's his video that he's gonna pop up,
and I'm like, oh, I should send this to him
beause it would be something he would do. And he
literally pops up and he's like, no, because.

Regular. I'm a regular dude. Listen.

I come from the hood, right, and I'm that one
hood dude that always cut ass on people, always was
making fun of When he arrived, you knew he was
gonna have fun with this guy. Any car ride to
the lakes or whatever, you wanted to be in the
car with this guy.

That's always been me.

And so when I see these things, it's like, you know,
I say, I say the fucked up ship that you know,
you see somebody in the wheelchair, You'll be like, because
you know, I'm not pushing a wheelchair, you know, But
that's that's you may not think that, or you may
think it and I say it.

I say the ship, you know. So I just and
it's not.

I don't only make fun of people, right. I've learned
how to use Instagram as a marketing tool and what
it is, Yeah, it's you know, I have people hit
me up and they'll be like, you think you're comeding
because you make reaction videos? Are you an idiot? You
don't get it. That's just how I get people to
my page. Once you come to a show, it's a
whole different beats stand up comedy and the reaction videos.

And you do family content. You have your kids, and
you have the relationship advice and all these things.
Speaker 5 (15:56):
A video my partner which is not my wife is
j Yeah you know my wife, my wife, Yeah, she
my wife Aja and everything. Shout shout out to Nana.

She's done elevated this, like she's she's made this with
me making the decision wanting to you know, just depend
off the entertainment business.
Speaker 5 (16:16):
Nana has helped me create an LLC. You know.
Speaker 6 (16:20):
So today we have York City Entertainment, which is an
entertainment company, and we're providing opportunities for other comedians, producing
not only our shows, but shows for other comedians as well.
So we just you know, she's she's helped me just
elevate this for real.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
That's so important to highlight that it started off as
a passion, right and a hobby something you thought maybe
could be, and now you've curated a business. You're an entrepreneur,
you have a marketing strategy, you have a business model.
That's so important to showcase in that lineage of entertainment
where some may not know how to go about that
and how to fortify that into a business.

I mean, nowadays I feel like the first step is
just you know, having the ideas what you want to do.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
My cousin is an artist. He's a painter. This man
makes a lot of money scenting, selling paintings that you know,
but that's that's his passion, that's what he loves to do.
Speaker 6 (17:13):
First thing you want to do, you have a passion,
create an LLC, find a way to how to make
money with it, you know. Yeah, So that that's what
non to help me. See, it's just like we could,
we could make this bigger than just you getting on
stage and doing comedy.

Yeah, I feel like everyone figured out how to create
an LLC when there.

Going on My boy, everybody became an exper You have
a dream. As soon as you said that, here you go.

I just like how you're opening the doors for other
people to and bringing you know, others around and uplifting
other people and helping open doors for other people that
necessarily didn't open for you essentially in the beginning.

So I mean, you know, I sat down with someone
he's an investor, and he was like, I wanted to
you know, I sat down and I had a plan
what I wanted.

You know, I did it right, man.

I came prepared, and he was just like, man, everything
is right. It's just Latinos don't support each other. Yeah
he was a Jewish guy.

And he was like, Latinos don't support each other until
you blow up. So what do I look like investing
all his money on you? You don't blow up, and
then now I lost all his money?

You because people like yourself is why we have new millionaires,
because it'll be someone like yourself, you know, that would
just take the risk invest and they probably don't care
to lose thirty forty thousand dollars. He's like, I do
because I'm doing that several times, so I don't want to.
I don't want to take the risk. And I just
thought like, damn, that sucks, you know. So right now

you do the stress factory. Bet, I'm bringing my people
with me, but you could do by yourself, bet, but

Sometimes we're stuck in that cloud for so long that
we forget sunlight exists. You know, Bro, there's there's there's
there's happiness. I just want to be that that that
ray of sunshine when you're in that cloud. I really
love when people come to me and they're like, bro,

and they got to wake up and be a mom
every day. Got dads that are going through whatever it

the days that I don't feel like posting. I feel
like somebody's waiting for this post. Somebody right now is

staying next to their mom being sick and you know,

How did your journey into comedy first start?

My journey started in uh twenty nineteen.

Shout out to Tommy five thousand gave me the opportunity
to do a comedy competition, a brown Sugar Sugar Yeah,
and I was able to get into that competition and
win seven weeks straight.

And then and then from there, it just it just started.
You know.

Tommy five thousand is one of those comedians that you know,
he's he's been in the game for some time now,
I believe, you know, over twenty years, and he's done
nothing but open doors, you know, for people like myself.
So from there, I started doing shows with Tommy, I
started doing uh, you know, touring.

Actually COVID hit.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
I can say I was right before COVID, right before.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
COVID and I took a pause.

We all did.

Yeah, I took a comedy. There's a lot of comedians.

That blew up during COVID during Yeah, yeah, you know,
with social media and everything.

That's all he had. That's all we had, you know.

But I even then, I was like, I'm not I'm
not gonna do it. At the time, I didn't know
if this was the step that I needed to know
I could make.

You know, And then twenty twenty two came around and
I went full force and never looked back.

And today I'm here going state to state, you know,
selling out shows comedy clubs, like, you know, for a comedian.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
It's important to just came from Miami.
Speaker 6 (05:07):
Yeah, yeah, it just came from Miami. Did the improv? Like,
did the improv.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
Prior to the Brown Sugar right, prior to that situation?
What what led you into saying, you know what, I
want to be a comedian?

Did you always have the passion that we always you know,
did you always know like this is what I wanted
to do?
Speaker 5 (05:25):
I did you know.

I could remember going back to like when I was
like thirteen years old. I used to write on my
calendar every New Year's I used to write, this year,
I'm going to do comedy's fire every year, bro, Like
every year thirteen years old, fourteen years old January. First
resolution is this year I'm going to do comedy.

And then everyone always tell you you funny.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Bro.

My mother used to go to Atlantic City for free
because they used to be like, may not just bring
them and put them in front of the bus to
say cheesters, And I.

Would just be there talking to people for a whole
two hours, three hours and a half.

My mother go to Extlantic City for free and people
I would entertain people. Bro, I'll be like seven, eight
years old. That's always done it, bro.

In college.

In college, I used to have a teacher that was like, yo, bro,
if you don't disturb the class, I'll give you ten
minutes at the end of the class just because I
enjoy you.

Shout out to Tommy because Tommy has open so many
doors for all of us in different ways. And I
was at that competition you really killed it. I was
at that competition. I used to promo with Tommy back then.
It was a lot of fun. But you you really
killed it and you continue to kill it. And what's
beautiful is that you now turn around and open the

door for those that are coming after you. Yes, and
it's very beautiful that you turn around and provide that gift,
that platform, that voice for people who may not have that,
and not everyone does that, So it's really nice that
you turn around and you're all about your community and
and uplifting those that are coming up.

Of course, you know, I truly believe that we're not
going to do this on our own.

There's bro there's so many talented comedians out there, so many,
it's just unfortunately they don't get the platform, they don't
get the eyes.

people in the room that are coming to see me,
why not. You know, That's why my Splewing Friends. I
love doing the Slewing Friends because not only do I

two or three comedians that. You know, they just they
just haven't been seen yet, but I know they really
got it.

I want to do comedy. I was like, bet February
twenty if I got a show, five minutes to get ready?
She was like, I was like, get ready, you know?
So yeah, man, you know that's how it is. I mean,
got okay, I've always thought about doing comedy. Word, but
I got to show next week.

Let's go be ready, so you don't have to get
ready exactly, so you know.

Tell me. Used to do that to me all the time.

Comedians used to do that to me all the time.

And then the next thing you know, you're standing on
the stage.

And you didn't even know. You're like trying to talk
to Shorty like what's up? Tell my man splew. You're like, whoa,
what's happening here? Yo, Splew come on the stage. You're like, ship,
I wasn't I wasn't ready, but you gotta you know,
you get in there.

So so do you always you always keep like a
list of things in your head, like you just probably
comes naturally to you that we could just freeze down
the spot.

Sometimes sometimes you get so nervous you don't know what
to say.

You started spicking people out of the crowd making fun
of him. Nah, that's what you do.

So that works if you're like already know like you know,
your know the comedian, and people like expecting you go
cut out some people. They all love it. If nobody
knows you that you can't go there, they're going.

We have we have one. Yeah, we have a friend
that does that. He goes into the crowd. No one's safe.
But you see say, but that's his thing is when.
Speaker 6 (09:31):
Is like six hundred and fifty thousand followers doing shows
in Dominican Republic, doing shows all around the state. People
are expecting it. They know that's this thing. So he's
putting six hundred people in the room and they waiting
for it. They hope that they get picked for him
to cut out.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
They have the cell phones ready, yeah, waiting ready.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
Well, I mean you obviously, you know, you have a
following of your own. Let's not let's not tone that down.
I mean, you just sell out United Palace. You know
what does that mean for you? Like what did that
moment mean for you? Like emotionally and for your career?

It was a it was a it was a sign
that I'm that I'm doing the right thing, that I'm working,
you know, Like I try not to take.

Yeah, you know, and I try not to like get
a big head of it.

You know, a lot I've seen bro I used to
get people shit on me because they had seventy thousand follows.
Today have four hundred and sixty thousand followers. And my
doors are you know, just like super open for everyone.
So I try to just keep working every day, sell
out United Palace, sell out comedy clubs. It's just it

just gives me more fuel to just be like, what's next,
what's the bigger what's the bigger step?
Speaker 3 (10:51):
And you not only do comedy, but you also were
on a spot speaking about community and culture. Romeo Santos
and Prince Royce announced their tour and Splew you made
an appearance in that announcement trailer. How did that come about?
Speaker 6 (11:11):
They reached out to me, well, Romeo. Romeo had someone
directly reach out to me. I did a video for
when they released the album Better Late Than Ever.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
I did a video of one of the songs and
he reposted it. So I was like, and you were like,
I made it. At that point, I called my job
like I think I'm coming over there.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
I'm not looking at you know.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
I send it to everybody.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I mean, share this link real quick.
Speaker 6 (11:39):
And they reached out to me and they were like, hey,
Romeo wants to work with you. I was like, yo,
I ain't got time for this ship today. Man, I
don't know who's to stop. So next thing, you know,
Johnny Marine shout out to Johnny Marine. He gets on
the phone with me and he's like, yo, Romeo want
to work with you. And I was like, yo, stop
playing who's this And he's like, Yo, it's Johnny bro
Like it's me.

You want me to FaceTime you?
Speaker 3 (12:01):
And You're like yeah, as a matter of fact, really yes.
Speaker 6 (12:07):
So it was like right away, you know, Johnny called
me like on a Wednesday, like what you're doing Thursday?
I'm like, sure, whatever I want, whatever y'all want, you know,
And sure enough, you know, I got there Thursday. That
gave me the location, pulled up and we did the video. Man,
when I tell you, when that was released, epic people

hit me up more for that video than my birthday.

Bro, Like I people from Dr Yo you met that's Ai. No,
that's not.
Speaker 6 (12:43):
For that was That was definitely a big moment. It
was a It was a great way to close out
twenty twenty five. You know, I made the decision twenty
twenty five. I made the decision that twenty twenty six,
I just want to depend on entertainment business, just the
entertainment business, comedy, movies, anything I could do. Yeah, twenty

twenty five with that video of Romeo. By then I
was working two jobs. For whatever reason, there was management
issues at my job. They was like, hey, we're reducing
your precision. We gotta let you go. My second job
December twenty ninth, they was like, yo, your license didn't
get approved for your security license, so we gotta let
you go. After that video, I got movie opportunities, I

got contract opportunity. I really came into twenty twenty six
fully depending on the entertainment business.

That's it, man, Ain't nothing like it.

Once you get to do what you love and provide
and be able to take care of your bills and
do what you gotta do and just focus on that,
that's it's different.
Speaker 1 (13:48):

It's different to be.

Able to Now you can just focus twenty four to
seven on which your goal is and entertainment and your craft.

I'm just you guys are being so inspirational and I'm
just thinking about the videos. That's splu post because it's
not just amen to all the A four engine. But
it's not just you know what I'm laughing about. But
it's not just your comedy shows. So Splew does this

thing and you'll see it on your feed. I think
it's someone else's video and they'll do whatever, and then
he does the reactions to it. But the thing is,
I'm already reacting to the videos in his tone, not
knowing that it's his video that he's gonna pop up,
and I'm like, oh, I should send this to him
beause it would be something he would do. And he
literally pops up and he's like, no, because.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
Regular. I'm a regular dude. Listen.
Speaker 6 (14:48):
I come from the hood, right, and I'm that one
hood dude that always cut ass on people, always was
making fun of When he arrived, you knew he was
gonna have fun with this guy. Any car ride to
the lakes or whatever, you wanted to be in the
car with this guy.
Speaker 5 (15:03):
That's always been me.
Speaker 6 (15:05):
And so when I see these things, it's like, you know,
I say, I say the fucked up ship that you know,
you see somebody in the wheelchair, You'll be like, because
you know, I'm not pushing a wheelchair, you know, But
that's that's you may not think that, or you may
think it and I say it.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
I say the ship, you know. So I just and
it's not.
Speaker 6 (15:28):
I don't only make fun of people, right. I've learned
how to use Instagram as a marketing tool and what
it is, Yeah, it's you know, I have people hit
me up and they'll be like, you think you're comeding
because you make reaction videos? Are you an idiot? You
don't get it. That's just how I get people to
my page. Once you come to a show, it's a
whole different beats stand up comedy and the reaction videos.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
And you do family content. You have your kids, and
you have the relationship advice and all these things.
Speaker 5 (15:56):
A video my partner which is not my wife is
j Yeah you know my wife, my wife, Yeah, she
my wife Aja and everything. Shout shout out to Nana.

She's done elevated this, like she's she's made this with
me making the decision wanting to you know, just depend
off the entertainment business.
Speaker 5 (16:16):
Nana has helped me create an LLC. You know.
Speaker 6 (16:20):
So today we have York City Entertainment, which is an
entertainment company, and we're providing opportunities for other comedians, producing
not only our shows, but shows for other comedians as well.
So we just you know, she's she's helped me just
elevate this for real.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
That's so important to highlight that it started off as
a passion, right and a hobby something you thought maybe
could be, and now you've curated a business. You're an entrepreneur,
you have a marketing strategy, you have a business model.
That's so important to showcase in that lineage of entertainment
where some may not know how to go about that
and how to fortify that into a business.

I mean, nowadays I feel like the first step is
just you know, having the ideas what you want to do.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
My cousin is an artist. He's a painter. This man
makes a lot of money scenting, selling paintings that you know,
but that's that's his passion, that's what he loves to do.

First thing you want to do, you have a passion,
create an LLC, find a way to how to make
money with it, you know. Yeah, So that that's what
non to help me. See, it's just like we could,
we could make this bigger than just you getting on
stage and doing comedy.

Yeah, I feel like everyone figured out how to create
an LLC when there.

a dream. As soon as you said that, here you go.

I just like how you're opening the doors for other
people to and bringing you know, others around and uplifting
other people and helping open doors for other people that
necessarily didn't open for you essentially in the beginning.

So I mean, you know, I sat down with someone
he's an investor, and he was like, I wanted to
you know, I sat down and I had a plan
what I wanted.

You know, I did it right, man.

I came prepared, and he was just like, man, everything
is right. It's just Latinos don't support each other. Yeah
he was a Jewish guy.

And he was like, Latinos don't support each other until
you blow up. So what do I look like investing
all his money on you? You don't blow up, and
then now I lost all his money?

You because people like yourself is why we have new millionaires,
because it'll be someone like yourself, you know, that would
just take the risk invest and they probably don't care

because I'm doing that several times, so I don't want to.
I don't want to take the risk. And I just
thought like, damn, that sucks, you know. So right now

I'm in eyes that I didn't think I was gonna be.
I'm in places that I didn't I was going to be.
So when people be like, you know, I'm gonna let
you do the stress factory. Bet, I'm bringing my people
with me, but you could do by yourself, bet, but

want my people to feel the same like I did
the Stress Factory as a comedian.

love when people come to me and they're like, bro,

and they got to wake up and be a mom
every day. Got dads that are going through whatever it

the days that I don't feel like posting. I feel
like somebody's waiting for this post. Somebody right now is
