because part one we spoke about the illustrious career and
trajectory that Maxwell has had, adversities being you know, one
of a kind in all shapes and forms, in terms

And by we I mean me in terms of how
you got to be a nick kid and you're insane
trajectory through Nickelodeon, I mean everything. Do you host award
shows and you do all these You just did a
takeover here iHeart So we want to get into all
of these things. But let's start with that burger because.

mistake is like when I did it, I make sure
it's not stapled so that when you throw it that

the type whould get like a stack in a strip
club and throw the whole stack instead of throwing the singles.

I think the first place that we should start was
for a while, I don't know if y'all remember, we
had a Nickelodeon radio station with iHeart Nick Radio.
Speaker 8 (06:30):
It was kind of like a Top forty junior. It
was you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (06:34):
It was everything that we played on our top forty
radio stations. Matter of fact, the Moniker was all the hits,
all the slime, oh wow, Nickelodeon. So it was like
we were playing all everything from at the time, the
Fifth Harmonies that were popping off. We had a launch
party where it actually was who performed at the launch party,
Cody Simpson. Remember when Cody Simpson was doing music, it
(06:56):
was him and and yeah, I think it was Fifth Harmony.
Speaker 8 (06:59):
We got Slime do the whole thing. That was our launch.
Speaker 6 (07:01):
But my role on our Nick Radio station was just
to be another DJ on the station. But going back
to what we were saying last time, like I think
all three of us can relate, we don't want to
just be just a part of a radio station. We
want to try to find a way to elevate, to
challenge ourselves to do more, just to yeah, what is
what is going to be my true role.
Speaker 8 (07:22):
And purpose for being here?
Speaker 6 (07:24):
And I kind of realized shortly after the launch of
Nick Radio that we didn't really have like a face
for the brand. It was just meant to kind of
be background noise, something that the parents could turn on
and just let the kids vibe out.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
And it was just but I thought I was like.
Speaker 7 (07:39):
Something, And I was like, something is how could I
step into this role and be like a traditional radio
station like the morning show person I was doing.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
I was doing the evening show, But I was like,
how can I be the face for this brand? And
that I think took a lot of people, not only
that were programming the radio station, but some of the
Nickelodeon executives surprised because I don't think that they were
prepared to have somebody who wanted to do more. It
was just kind of meant to be a collaboration between
iHeartRadio Nickelodeon that was just going to kind of be like,
(08:10):
all right, it's.
Speaker 8 (08:10):
Gonna be our way into the kid radio.
Speaker 6 (08:14):
Space, almost like check let's check that box, check that Yeah.
So when I realized about like six months into it,
I was like, man, how can I shake it up
a little bit?
Speaker 8 (08:23):
How can I make some noise?
Speaker 6 (08:24):
And I went to one of the Nick executives at
the time that was with the Nickelodeon Music team. His
name is Doug Cohen, and I told Doug. I was like, hey, man,
we need a face for this radio station. Let me
brand a show, let me create benchmarks. All the things
that we do on our radio shows regularly. I thought,
why can't I do this for NICK Radio? And you know,
(08:46):
some of it was next time you guys are doing
these TV shows, why do you have like a random
DJ that you hire that's an actor when it could
be DJ Maxwell branded Nick Radio. Here I am in
the background of I Carley, you know what I mean,
Like that could be our way to keep it all
under the same umbrella when it's you know, when it's
Good Burger, when it's these movies, Like, why does it
(09:08):
have to be just some random other actor that's back
there playing.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
A part emigrational.
Speaker 6 (09:13):
Way to tie exactly to integrate Nick Radio into the shows,
I was trying animation.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
It told me was like wow.
Speaker 8 (09:20):
For them, I think they were like, yo, that's wild.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
So that led to that led to me first being
able to host all the like the the Green Carpet
and the Orange Carpet Award shows that we were doing
at like Kids Choice Awards, Kids' Choice Sports Awards. So
here I am out there representing Nick Radio as a
true face and talent for the brand at these other
(09:44):
Nickelodeon events, and I think that that really was kind
of like, Okay, we got something going here.
Speaker 8 (09:48):
And it continued, it just continued.
Speaker 6 (09:51):
There were opportunities after opportunities that I was just blessed
and fortunate enough to be the one to step into
those roles and yeah, and then I was seeing the
other that was really dope was I was seeing a
lot of the people that we would see in radio
at these other events, so it would put them at
ease when they would be at a Nickelodeon event and
it was like.
Speaker 8 (10:10):
Oh, Maxwell, what are you doing here?
Speaker 6 (10:11):
Because they would see me when I was working at
Z one hundred and they would like, you know, two
weeks prior, they would come in and they would do
like a jingle ball and then like next thing, you know,
I'm at the Kid's Choice Awards and here comes Zendeya.
You know, she's like, where'd you just a nigga? Like,
what's up, Dug?
Speaker 8 (10:24):
Like all that. I think the Nickelodeon execs they were
starting to see.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
That all that synergy, all that ser They're like, dude.
Speaker 8 (10:30):
Let's Leu's roll with it. And yeah.
Speaker 6 (10:32):
So that was kind of how my my role within
NICK Radio truly blew up. It was it was just
being trying to be that person that could make it
make sense.
Speaker 8 (10:42):
I just did.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (10:43):
I always had the mentality like, yo, like why can't
it be me? Like why if.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
That d like I said that DJ is some factor
on I carle like, why can't that be me? If
I can make it make sense and make it easier
for the Nickelodeon people. I was like, I'm sag aftra,
like you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 8 (10:58):
Like, cove me that check, you know, And then they're
is going on right a little bit.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
I do a little bit more live events when Nickelodeon
are they still doing the radio thing?
Speaker 6 (11:07):
No longer? So we ended that after about I think
eight years. Was Nick, you should be.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Like the PD for that.
Speaker 6 (11:14):
I try, and I tried, Yeah, I try with thanks dude.
I tried, but it got to the point where the
contract was ending. CBS and Viacom they shifted how they're
doing everything in that world. It's a whole nother it's
a whole other thing. I still do a few live
events for Nickelodeon, hosting like.
Speaker 8 (11:30):
Slime Fest was one of the concerts that we hosted.
That was is that me going on?
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Yeah? Cut out?
Speaker 3 (11:39):
You want to take the fuzz off your.
Speaker 8 (11:41):

I have like a hyper focused thing that when like she.

You you know, yeah, but it led to a lot
of live events. I built relationships with the actors, you
know what I'm saying. Keenan Kell became friends of mine.
So when it came time for like Good Burger, the
reboot for the movie that they were doing, they were
like yo, I hit him with the text do you
need me to do anything? But he was like, bro,
you want to be in so of course I want
(12:18):
to be in a Good Burger too, Like this is crazy,
all right, let me put you in touch with the
casting director. They did a solid and like kind of
said like this is a dude, We're going to get
you in like a prominent extra role. I got to
sit on the set. I was hanging out with Gronk
and Keenan and killed whole day.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (12:35):
So I mean you can catch me for half a
second in the movie. But a lot of it, yeah,
a lot of it just kind of stemmed from wanting
to do wanted to do.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Like there's a lot of time for that one half
a second. R takes a lot of that was how
many hours?
Speaker 8 (12:48):
Low key?
Speaker 6 (12:48):
I almost got in trouble for that too. Really, I'll
take you behind the velvet rope on that I was.

At Z exclusive guy, Yeah, we need an exclusive jingle.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
And I I took a half day, like you know,
us a PTO. I took out because I thought it
was like, oh dude, my call time was like six
in the morning. So I'm like, oh yeah, they're like literally,
I was only supposed to be like an hour or whatever.
So after my show the night before, off the train
went to Rhode Island where they filmed, and they at
the time, excuse me, we were off.
Speaker 8 (13:20):
I was on set six.
Speaker 6 (13:21):
O'clock, but I didn't realize fully how long it was
gonna take. Like you said, yeah, it takes forever for
like a ten second shot. They confiscate our phones, they
take everything because at that time the movie was like
fully under embargo.
Speaker 8 (13:33):
And I'm sitting up there, I'm watching a clock tick
and I'm like, wait a.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Second, all right, i gotta be back at.
Speaker 8 (13:38):
The radio station at like two o'clock to do my show.
Here we are at eleven, it's eleven forty. They haven't
called me yet.
Speaker 6 (13:45):
It's eleven and my phone was gone, so I couldn't
let my PD know. And he's like, bro, like he
like it sent a hole cause he was like where
are you? Cause and I tried not to be that
person that just kind of disappears, you know what I mean.
Speaker 8 (13:55):
So it's like I couldn't. I didn't hear from you.
We didn't know what was going on. Blah blah blah
bla blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Did you make your show or no? No?
Speaker 2 (14:01):
No, man, we didn't finish rapping until nighttime. Yeah, bro,
it was crazy. It was holding your show just nobody.
Speaker 8 (14:07):
I think we ended up having to find like a
random like feeling or something. Yeah, it was a whole thing.
It was a whole thing. Wow. Yeah, it was a
whole thing.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
And then when like and finally and it's like when
I finally got my phone, it was like a full
ass like lockdown. We couldn't talk about I just signed
NDA to even say that I was going to be
in the movie like all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
So it's crazy.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Have you ever have you ever been to like a
filming of any sort of like movie or anything like that.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
It was nuts. I didn't I did that. I was
an extra. I wish I remember I was so young
when I did it.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
To find this video. This was in Florida. This is
when I was in Orlando very young. I still was
maybe not even in high school, maybe being in a
high school. But anyway, my sister was modeling for like
Reebok and doing something with Disney out there, and they
were filming one of those shows. But I knew nothing
of it, like I didn't watch any of this stuff.
So but she was like, Hey, this guy's doing casting
(14:53):
for your age group.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
You should do it. So of course my mom forces
me to go. So I go.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
I have like no interest, to be honest, you to do.
So anyway, I ended up getting like part cast it
to like sit there like they're gonna pay me.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
Cool.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Cool, but I got to actually see how it works,
and it's crazy. So, like I sat at the table
with like three other people acting like we were talking,
like you're not you're not actually talking, Nobody.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
One sitting in there just like yeah, bana yeah, and
just listening.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
And then they're to tell you like you can't look over,
you can't look at the cameras, you can focus on
your table, blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
It's crazy. So I did it once and I was like.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
And it lasted forever though, like you said that, I
had no idea it was that one scene they shot
like three or four times, and it was like, wow,
it took like two hours for like like you're saying,
like a one.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Thirty minute episode, you're there.
Speaker 6 (15:42):
Because what I didn't really need to be rail the
convo was like you know what I mean, So save
there needs to be a camera that's catching the dialogue
going this blocking and then it's like, all right, we
got to flip the whole thing around and do it
again to catch it going this way. Another part that
was really funny was I was with Gronk, who was amazing.
Speaker 8 (15:56):
Dude.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
You know, anybody that knows uh Rob Gronkowski, dude, this hilarious.
He was the one that was speaking. But I'm with
him the whole time. We're eating cold fake hamburgers, pretending
like we're chilling on French fries. He's you know, he's
over here. We'd just bsing like, man, this is delicious,
even though they made it at ten am yesterday morning,
like we're just joking and stuff, and they would be like,
all right, cut Gronk, you can't make jokes because we
(16:17):
can still pull it up.
Speaker 8 (16:18):
So we were joking. We were kind of like the
problem child on the.
Speaker 5 (16:20):
Set a little bit, you know what I mean, Were
you were like really eating or did you have a
spit pucket?
Speaker 8 (16:24):
No, we were really eating.
Speaker 6 (16:25):
They were grilling like real burgers, that's what they were
really grilling burgers on good Burger too, which was fire.
But then Keenan because he knew me I was in
the scene with Gronk and he would come over and
it's a part where he's like pretending like he's cleaning
but eaves dropping on something that's happening. So he kept
on like spraying me with water, like you know what
I mean, just because it wasn't nothing I was in
the script. It's just his genius of being an ad

liber and being what he does on SNL and has
done a Nickelodeon for his entire year or his entire
years that he's been doing it.
Speaker 8 (16:51):
So it was like a whole thing.
Speaker 6 (16:52):
But just it was like all right, now we gotta
wipe down Maxwell's face because.
Speaker 8 (16:57):
It was like all kind of stuff.
Speaker 6 (16:58):
But so it took a lot longer, and I, yeah,
I really got in trouble. I really got in trouble.
Like yeah, I was like, dang, dude, I was like,
but I couldn't tell y'all that I was here, What
were you doing all day?
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Well, I hate burgers, yeah, and uh it's a great day.
Speaker 8 (17:11):
It was a great day.

So that's that's how I got to That's how I
got to do a good burger. But it was to
go back to it and to kind of wrap up
this part of it for y'all is it was just
the wanting to be able to represent for where I
was kind of like we were saying on part one, it's
like I just wanted to be that person that was
able to elevate what I was doing. Also just to
make the team a little bit bigger or more established.
(17:33):
And that's how I felt with Nick Radio, I was like,
there's got to be somebody. We can't just be a
random radio station.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Ye, like I love passionate about what you're doing kids
on that No.
Speaker 8 (17:44):
It was myself.
Speaker 6 (17:45):
It was Wendy Wild when he was one of our
jocks out and it was mostly like a pre recorded
we was going and just I kind of do it.
Speaker 8 (17:52):
But I just I just knew that it had to
be more.
Speaker 6 (17:54):
It just felt like it was just this uncharted territory
because I would see it. I was just like, why now,
it's like kid pop, right yeah, yeah, yep, So that
was that was It was fun, but that was just
my That was my step into more of the hosting
in the in the kids entertainment. I got to I
got cast as as DJ Maxwell on the show that
they had that ran for two seasons.
Speaker 8 (18:15):
It was kind of like a little sitcom.
Speaker 6 (18:16):
That they called Make It Pop and it was all
about a group of kids who went to a private
boarding school and they formed their own K pop group.
And then the episodes that I got to do for that,
they I was the DJ in the in the fictional world,
you know, which, which is all the stuff that I
was seeing. I was like, why shouldn't it be a
random actor if it could be DJ Maxwell from Nick Radio.
(18:36):
So they built this into the script for Make It
Pop and it was crazy and you know what I mean. Yeah,
so it was dope, but they played the episodes.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
I did episodes, Yo, they're out there.
Speaker 8 (18:43):
Yeah, I got I should have I should have brought
you out with the clips.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
But it's fun.
Speaker 3 (18:47):

I mean, you know, it was bigger advocating.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
For yourself, having a vision, fighting for that vision, and
becoming a brandom Bastrood, not just for you, but where
the brand could go exactly. And it's using your network,
which is your net worth. And we spoke about it
in season two, Episode two is your episode, and it's
that seems to be the theme throughout this whole season.
It's networking and relationship building and it comes up in

that opportunity presents itself, what you do to prepare for
when that opportunity to present itself, how you're able to deliver,

it's fighting for yourself to say, like, hey, take a
chance on me, and I promise you it's going to
deliver for a reason that you maybe didn't think of,

or if you did think of it, and I'm not
the right fit.

To myself, damn, I should have said something, and then
it bypasses you and then it's somebody else doing it,
and I'm sitting at the house watching Make It Pop
and it's some random ass actor like doing what I
could have been doing if I would have just spoke up.
So and through that I met some really cool, some
really amazing talented actors and kids, and I kind of,
you know, stoke the fire for me to want to
do a little bit of, you know, more learning how

to act and be in front of a camera.

Is that is that your next step, man, bro?

Getting out of your comfort zone?

I mean, I would I would love to. I mean,
I love I love being able to. I think, not

just love the challenge and I love thinking, like, yo,
if I can take this on and I can accomplish it,
it's just going to.

on in a different revenue earning avenue, and it's like,

If you don't, and they're gonna get that yes, and

House like I literally got to where I'm on today
just asking the questions that nobody else.

And but also you deliver when you're when you're asking
for that opportunity.

You don't ask for something you're not ready or you
don't have, so let's not go out there and just
start asking questions.

But it's also you know, walking the walk right, like
I've proven that I can do this.

Yeah, And it's building that trust.

Building that trust, it's it's building it's building that trust
with whoever it is that you're working with the artists
that and that was another thing that really helped within
that world, was especially with the artists and stuff I
was doing nick Radio was I was now in a
different world with the same artists that I was in
over here. So they the artists already had that trust.
So when they came to the Nickelodeon side of things

and they saw a familiar face, they saw somebody. I mean,
we were doing events with with flow Rider, we were
doing events with z with de Pain with you know
big I mean bb Rexa, you know what I'm saying,
Louis Tomlinson, I mean one direction, guys. I mean, but
it was all people who I had relationships with in
this world. So it made them that much more comfortable
(22:10):
when they were over here, when they saw a familiar face.
And I think that for the executives that weren't used
to that trust, that trust. So it was like, oh,
so if we can get Maxwell to come and do
these things, you know all the time, you know, I
was like, this is all I'm asking is I just
want to be that person there so I can make
sure that you get delivered the best product ever. All
the stuff we did with team Nick top Ten, I
(22:32):
don't even talk about that. When I was with with
Nick Cannon, you know.
Speaker 8 (22:34):
What I mean. It was like we were working with
Nick and Nig was like, I know you dude.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Like that is what that's called his passion, right, So
what Maxwell has is a passion to over deliver and
for sure, and he takes you know, his responsibilities seriously
and he gives his best at all times.

You know, he wants I appreciate that.

You can see I hear all the time.

I mean, I've told you this before and he knows
back in the backgrounds or in conversations I have. I

Maxwell's very hands on, very love. He's always on the

But it's something that you actually look for, right where
you don't want a lazy talent, right, He's a total opposite.

that's right. So I try to do like I just
want to. And what I love about.

is that is that I have so many amazing peers
that you know what I mean that I just I
just love the work ethic. I love what y'all have
done for yourselves and how hard you've worked. And it's
like we're not around no rookies around here, and it's

how everybody moves and that that keeps me driven to

want to do bigger and more. And that's all I mean,
I kind of adapt to the vine and that's all
I'm that's all I'm trying to do now.

But it's also you know you you spoke about brand strategy,
you spoke about elevation, you spoke about amplification, you spoke
about self advocacy, and all of those are great attributions.
And that's why your partnerships continue to excel because you
bring value to the table and you put yourself behind
everything you do.

I mean, yeah, especially in our world where there are
a lot of people who want the opportunities that we're
you know, blessed to get that we are handed at
some point in time, but also opportunities that we work

not too long ago where we did our very first
ever live broadcast with Madison here. We broadcasted on all

the iHeart radio top forty stations on.

Our That was insane. It was social coverage for that.

It was crazy.

Tell us the scoop behind the scenes because you were
giving some teasers.

Man, it was I was nervous.

I'm not gonna lie because I knew what the magnitude
of what it was. It's our first time ever with
iHeart partnering with TikTok. I mean we went live on
TikTok at the same time that we were live on
all these radio stations, and I mean the TikTok platform.
As you know, there's there's almost there's billions of people
that part Heart.

I just want to say that shout out for Heart.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
That was extremely innovative and strategic.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
We're gonna get Bob up there for really, We're gonna
get You'll tell you you're gonna get I gotta get

That's the one. I'm gonna become like fully prepared.

I have exactly you talk about, you know, and not
you know, not not to take anything from any other
company there with just iHeart continues just to set level up,
bro set the level and the expectations, and another one.

I mean it was insane, the rooms set up like glass,
having her in the middle, everything you were.

It was there's so much.

Go to the iHeart Instagram, go to in Maxwell's house

It was really cool.

Everything just to know that it was a part of
our first ever collaboration.

Really in that magnitude with TikTok. There was a lot
that there was.

I mean, I had some conversations where people were like, look,
this is our first time doing this, not trying to
you know, say don't screw it up, but don't screw
it up, you know what I mean, because like if
it goes wrong this they might not ever come back
to it.
Speaker 8 (27:32):
Yeah you know, but if it goes right, it could
be something. And all the all the while, people were.
Speaker 6 (27:36):
And I was having these you know conversations, watching the
emails flow, oh like like trust me, like you know
what I mean. But I felt that confidence in myself
because I knew I was telling, you know, myself and
and not so many words to everyone I was communicating
with up the food chain. Was like, like, you guys,
put me in this position because you know, I can
hit this home run for y'all, and I promise you
I'm gonna do I'm gonna do that for you because
with Madison, she and I have a relationship and a

friendship that was extremely comfortable. That was going to set
her at ease, you know, with the magnitude of what
was going on. I mean, it's literally all of TikTok
was going to be watching this, you know what I mean.
And we knew that, but I also knew that I
could deliver and to have it be something after the
fact that it actually did and we we nailed it.
When I tell you it was I think that the wow,

I honest say, I think that the numbers were almost
like a quarter of a million people were watching it
was like ninety two something.

So for anybody watching this right now or listening to it,
can they go back right now? And yeah, because it
lives now.
Speaker 8 (28:32):

It's like yeah, if you if you google, you go
hop on TikTok and type in iHeart and Madison Beer
like you're going to see, you know, social media clips
that we pulled from it. We ran, Yeah, we played
some of our brand new music, but it just was really.

Stream lives somewhere the full half.
Speaker 6 (28:46):
An hour stream. I'm not one hundred percent sure. I
don't want to say that, but I mean, they we
have so.

Many well Madison's people, let us know.

Madison's people get at me. I mean, we got clips
that are out there for the world to have.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
And so because if listeners ask, they're demanding it.

They're demanding, they want it, we can say that, Yeah,
it was so dope to have been the person that
helped deliver that. Again, it's not because it was me.
It was because I knew that I would be the
best person inside.

because because I I've been on that side of the
chair right where you have all this pressure on you, yeah, right,
and you're about to I used to deal with it
every week when I was doing one on six in

having me almost like a co host with them, where
I got lines and I you know, reading the prompter
and then just knowing like and at this point there's

a million viewers every single time on the show, Like,
so you know, like a million people are about to
see you don't.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
And they'll tell you. They'll tell you got the script?
Are you good?
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Sure?
Speaker 1 (29:38):
Don't mess it up? The words are moving, what goals
are the people listening?
Speaker 2 (29:42):
What goes through your head right before you go live,
Like in these moments, how do you relax yourself?
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Like where do you start thinking?
Speaker 8 (29:50):
You know, I do think don't screw it up. I
really do.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
I'm not even go to front like I'm like, man,
all right, I do think don't screw it up. But
also at the time I think in it and it
went through my mind this most recent time, it is
like I'm in this position for a reason, like I'll
be I'll be good, like trusting yourself, trusting your ability
that you're gonna it's gonna be all right, you know
what I mean?
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Just like and then once it gets going, Yeah, the
jitters are always right in the this is a good question.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
After that, Like a public speaker, I always get the
jitters before I'm doing something live, But then once you're there,
that's it.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
So this is something that just we all you know,
it feel the same.
Speaker 8 (30:36):
You both nailed it. That's exactly it.
Speaker 6 (30:38):
Like I, you know, every time, it don't matter, it
could be everything else, to be a jingle ball, to
be k for you as soon as whatever it is
that you're doing. It's but once you get past that first,
like it was up guys, welcome to iHeart Radio, all
of a sudden you're.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Just like I did one of those I think it
was with Cal. I didn't want with t I and
I didn't want Cali where I had to host them
in the iHeart Theater and it was being broadcast that everywhere,
you know, on all the rail stations. It's nerve wracking
because you know, like you said, leaning into it, you're
going over the scripts and everybody there's a full team,
so that you know, once you realize everyone's focused on
you like this and there's like fifty.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Peop and you're like why.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
And you're going through the whole script and this is
what's gonna happen at this point and da da da,
and you know you have to say this and mention
this and turn this way and look at that camera
for and all that's a lot of pressure and then
you go live and then when you're out there, you're
just like trying to calm calm myself down. It was.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
It was a lot. It's when I.
Speaker 6 (31:32):
Started to think about, you know, and I tried not to,
but it was impossible to not think about the fact
that all of TikTok, like they were like, Yo, this
is gonna go this, there's gonna pop up, that's gonna
pop up on the front page of TikTok. And then
what was wild was like after it was done. I
mean we all hugged out. It was I mean, the
numbers we crushed it. So proud of myself, proud of
the team that made it happen, everybody from top to bottom.
The thing that hit me the craziest when I realized,
(31:53):
I was like, damn, this is a big deal. Is
I got a text from my sister in our family
group chat and she was like, not. My nephew's name
is Strayvon, seventeen years old. Young dude, he's on watch
you on TikTok. My bro, when I tell you pro stole,
just watch you. He was like, he came running too
my sister's house. He's like, not Trayvon running and knocking
on my window in the bedroom saying like, why is
uncle on TikTok sitting next to Madison Beer with like
(32:14):
three hundred thousand people. And I just but he had
no idea because I mean I it was and you
were like minded.
Speaker 5 (32:19):
Forget my entire career, this is my maide up moment.
Speaker 6 (32:23):
I'm cool with my nephew, you know what I'm saying.
But it was like, it's wild, you know what I mean.
But if you allow yourself to think about that and
let that pressure build on you, then you're gonna crumble.
But I just you know, it's okay to be nervous
in that moment. But once we did it, it's just like, dude,
this is it. And we had a blast, and I'm
hoping and I'm thinking, and from what I understand, there's
gonna be more opportunities that we're going to be able
to level up with.

iHeart intertalk and building partnership.

I heart the partnerships that they're they've created in their
building and they continue to build their our next.

these words. If you do not ask, the answer is
always going to be no. So if you're if you've
been sitting on uh, something you want to do. Maybe
you want to go to your boss ask for a raise,
Maybe you want to go to your head whoever the manager,
and say, hey, I want to upgrade to this position,

or can I do this or can I do that?

The answer is no. If you don't ask, always, always,
in forever.

It's advocacy, but it's also preparation.

so when you ask for something. Be prepared, yet, be prepared.

I remember, like on radio, even when I came to
New York and I started doing afternoons on Power on
A five, and the p at that time was Cadillac. Right, yeah, Cadillac.
I did my research. He's a numbers person, right. He
was a numbers person, strictly numbers right, great guy. So
I wanted to mix on my show for more time
than I was mixing. So I went and started. I
(34:14):
went into the ratings. I found out what the ratings were.
I said, you know, what are the rains when I'm mixing?
What are the rains when I'm not mixing?
Speaker 1 (34:19):
D da da da.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
I broke it down on paper, why we should mix longer,
why I should move this commercial break to this blah blah.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Blah, late it all. He looked at it. He said,
sounds like great.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
I didn't mean you should do it start next when
you want to start immediately. This is what you're like,
this is what I want to call it. Blah blah blah,
and there you go. I left that room saying, got
it done. But if I never asked, it would have
never happened. Because they'll just allow you to do what
they tell If you do what they tell you to
do and that's it, then that's what it's going to be.
Speaker 8 (34:44):
Yeah, that's what it's going to be.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
If you ever want to excel and do more, you
have to ask. If the answers no is cool, maybe
you'll come later, whatever the case is, but you have
to sometimes be willing to carbadium.

Yeah damn, seize the day.

But also it's about you know, doing your research and
having mentors and you know, pick a brain, ask questions.
That's something that I always say that I'm so grateful
not just to both y'all, but everyone here at iHeart
is everyone is so open and everyone's so open minded
and willing to learn and willing to explain and that

growth mindset. Like it's so cool to see the synergy
between Early and iHeart because that partnership, well, this partnership
has synergized on that. It's everyone's open to be creative
and how can we elevate, how can we build to
the next level, And me coming in the booth and
be like Maxwell, I loved what you did on social
and you're telling me, Hey, so this is how I
did it. This is what I was thinking, this is

what you got to do. And then sitting with pro
and what do you think about this? And these different
you know, revenue streams or business alignments.

And things like that.

So it's so cool that we can have this dialogue
and have these you know, like next level so the business.

Relationships, and at the end of the day, hopefully you're
somebody listening watching that it motivates.

I mean it as all it takes is one person, man.

We can build your build your ecosystem. Look at your friends,
see what your friends are doing. Be inspired. You know,
sometimes you don't have to look that far. It's not
always about a personality. It's look at your own inner circle,
you know, and if you're like, there's no insipo here,
then maybe change that circle.

And that's okay too. Sometimes you know, we.

Out there, Okay, remember when I said this in one
of our other episodes. Right, sometimes you're the person who
has to uplift your circle. You can't always rely on
your circle being people that are always above you.

trajectory that Maxwell has had, adversities being you know, one

And by we I mean me in terms of how
you got to be a nick kid and you're insane
trajectory through Nickelodeon, I mean everything. Do you host award
shows and you do all these You just did a
takeover here iHeart So we want to get into all
of these things. But let's start with that burger because.

mistake is like when I did it, I make sure
it's not stapled so that when you throw it that

the type whould get like a stack in a strip
club and throw the whole stack instead of throwing the singles.

I think the first place that we should start was
for a while, I don't know if y'all remember, we
had a Nickelodeon radio station with iHeart Nick Radio.
Speaker 8 (06:30):
It was kind of like a Top forty junior. It
was you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (06:34):
It was everything that we played on our top forty
radio stations. Matter of fact, the Moniker was all the hits,
all the slime, oh wow, Nickelodeon. So it was like
we were playing all everything from at the time, the
Fifth Harmonies that were popping off. We had a launch
party where it actually was who performed at the launch party,
Cody Simpson. Remember when Cody Simpson was doing music, it

was him and and yeah, I think it was Fifth Harmony.
Speaker 8 (06:59):
We got Slime do the whole thing. That was our launch.
Speaker 6 (07:01):
But my role on our Nick Radio station was just
to be another DJ on the station. But going back
to what we were saying last time, like I think
all three of us can relate, we don't want to
just be just a part of a radio station. We
want to try to find a way to elevate, to
challenge ourselves to do more, just to yeah, what is
what is going to be my true role.
Speaker 8 (07:22):
And purpose for being here?
Speaker 6 (07:24):
And I kind of realized shortly after the launch of
Nick Radio that we didn't really have like a face
for the brand. It was just meant to kind of
be background noise, something that the parents could turn on
and just let the kids vibe out.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
And it was just but I thought I was like.
Speaker 7 (07:39):
Something, And I was like, something is how could I
step into this role and be like a traditional radio
station like the morning show person I was doing.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
I was doing the evening show, But I was like,
how can I be the face for this brand? And
that I think took a lot of people, not only
that were programming the radio station, but some of the
Nickelodeon executives surprised because I don't think that they were
prepared to have somebody who wanted to do more. It
was just kind of meant to be a collaboration between
iHeartRadio Nickelodeon that was just going to kind of be like,

all right, it's.
Speaker 8 (08:10):
Gonna be our way into the kid radio.
Speaker 6 (08:14):
Space, almost like check let's check that box, check that Yeah.
So when I realized about like six months into it,
I was like, man, how can I shake it up
a little bit?
Speaker 8 (08:23):
How can I make some noise?
Speaker 6 (08:24):
And I went to one of the Nick executives at
the time that was with the Nickelodeon Music team. His
name is Doug Cohen, and I told Doug. I was like, hey, man,
we need a face for this radio station. Let me
brand a show, let me create benchmarks. All the things
that we do on our radio shows regularly. I thought,
why can't I do this for NICK Radio? And you know,
(08:46):
some of it was next time you guys are doing
these TV shows, why do you have like a random
DJ that you hire that's an actor when it could
be DJ Maxwell branded Nick Radio. Here I am in
the background of I Carley, you know what I mean,
Like that could be our way to keep it all
under the same umbrella when it's you know, when it's
Good Burger, when it's these movies, Like, why does it
(09:08):
have to be just some random other actor that's back
there playing.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
A part emigrational.
Speaker 6 (09:13):
Way to tie exactly to integrate Nick Radio into the shows,
I was trying animation.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
It told me was like wow.
Speaker 8 (09:20):
For them, I think they were like, yo, that's wild.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
So that led to that led to me first being
able to host all the like the the Green Carpet
and the Orange Carpet Award shows that we were doing
at like Kids Choice Awards, Kids' Choice Sports Awards. So
here I am out there representing Nick Radio as a
true face and talent for the brand at these other
(09:44):
Nickelodeon events, and I think that that really was kind
of like, Okay, we got something going here.
Speaker 8 (09:48):
And it continued, it just continued.
Speaker 6 (09:51):
There were opportunities after opportunities that I was just blessed
and fortunate enough to be the one to step into
those roles and yeah, and then I was seeing the
other that was really dope was I was seeing a
lot of the people that we would see in radio
at these other events, so it would put them at
ease when they would be at a Nickelodeon event and
it was like.
Speaker 8 (10:10):
Oh, Maxwell, what are you doing here?
Speaker 6 (10:11):
Because they would see me when I was working at
Z one hundred and they would like, you know, two
weeks prior, they would come in and they would do
like a jingle ball and then like next thing, you know,
I'm at the Kid's Choice Awards and here comes Zendeya.
You know, she's like, where'd you just a nigga? Like,
what's up, Dug?
Speaker 8 (10:24):
Like all that. I think the Nickelodeon execs they were
starting to see.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
That all that synergy, all that ser They're like, dude.
Speaker 8 (10:30):
Let's Leu's roll with it. And yeah.
Speaker 6 (10:32):
So that was kind of how my my role within
NICK Radio truly blew up. It was it was just
being trying to be that person that could make it
make sense.
Speaker 8 (10:42):
I just did.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (10:43):
I always had the mentality like, yo, like why can't
it be me? Like why if.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
That d like I said that DJ is some factor
on I carle like, why can't that be me? If
I can make it make sense and make it easier
for the Nickelodeon people. I was like, I'm sag aftra,
like you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 8 (10:58):
Like, cove me that check, you know, And then they're
is going on right a little bit.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
I do a little bit more live events when Nickelodeon
are they still doing the radio thing?
Speaker 6 (11:07):
No longer? So we ended that after about I think
eight years. Was Nick, you should be.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Like the PD for that.
Speaker 6 (11:14):
I try, and I tried, Yeah, I try with thanks dude.
I tried, but it got to the point where the
contract was ending. CBS and Viacom they shifted how they're
doing everything in that world. It's a whole nother it's
a whole other thing. I still do a few live
events for Nickelodeon, hosting like.
Speaker 8 (11:30):
Slime Fest was one of the concerts that we hosted.
That was is that me going on?
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Yeah? Cut out?
Speaker 3 (11:39):
You want to take the fuzz off your.
Speaker 8 (11:41):
Oh no, I got on. I'm first off?
Speaker 1 (11:44):

I have like a hyper focused thing that when like she.

Yeah, listen, that's what a sister does got.

You you know, yeah, but it led to a lot
of live events. I built relationships with the actors, you
know what I'm saying. Keenan Kell became friends of mine.
So when it came time for like Good Burger, the
reboot for the movie that they were doing, they were
like yo, I hit him with the text do you
need me to do anything? But he was like, bro,
you want to be in so of course I want

to be in a Good Burger too, Like this is crazy,
all right, let me put you in touch with the
casting director. They did a solid and like kind of
said like this is a dude, We're going to get
you in like a prominent extra role. I got to
sit on the set. I was hanging out with Gronk
and Keenan and killed whole day.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (12:35):
So I mean you can catch me for half a
second in the movie. But a lot of it, yeah,
a lot of it just kind of stemmed from wanting
to do wanted to do.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Like there's a lot of time for that one half
a second. R takes a lot of that was how
many hours?
Speaker 8 (12:48):
Low key?
Speaker 6 (12:48):
I almost got in trouble for that too. Really, I'll
take you behind the velvet rope on that I was.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
At Z exclusive guy, Yeah, we need an exclusive jingle.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
And I I took a half day, like you know,
us a PTO. I took out because I thought it
was like, oh dude, my call time was like six
in the morning. So I'm like, oh yeah, they're like literally,
I was only supposed to be like an hour or whatever.
So after my show the night before, off the train
went to Rhode Island where they filmed, and they at
the time, excuse me, we were off.
Speaker 8 (13:20):
I was on set six.
Speaker 6 (13:21):
O'clock, but I didn't realize fully how long it was
gonna take. Like you said, yeah, it takes forever for
like a ten second shot. They confiscate our phones, they
take everything because at that time the movie was like
fully under embargo.
Speaker 8 (13:33):
And I'm sitting up there, I'm watching a clock tick
and I'm like, wait a.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Second, all right, i gotta be back at.
Speaker 8 (13:38):
The radio station at like two o'clock to do my show.
Here we are at eleven, it's eleven forty. They haven't
called me yet.
Speaker 6 (13:45):
It's eleven and my phone was gone, so I couldn't
let my PD know. And he's like, bro, like he
like it sent a hole cause he was like where
are you? Cause and I tried not to be that
person that just kind of disappears, you know what I mean.
Speaker 8 (13:55):
So it's like I couldn't. I didn't hear from you.
We didn't know what was going on. Blah blah blah
bla blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Did you make your show or no? No?
Speaker 2 (14:01):
No, man, we didn't finish rapping until nighttime. Yeah, bro,
it was crazy. It was holding your show just nobody.
Speaker 8 (14:07):
I think we ended up having to find like a
random like feeling or something. Yeah, it was a whole thing.
It was a whole thing. Wow. Yeah, it was a
whole thing.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
And then when like and finally and it's like when
I finally got my phone, it was like a full
ass like lockdown. We couldn't talk about I just signed
NDA to even say that I was going to be
in the movie like all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
So it's crazy.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Have you ever have you ever been to like a
filming of any sort of like movie or anything like that.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
It was nuts. I didn't I did that. I was
an extra. I wish I remember I was so young
when I did it.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
To find this video. This was in Florida. This is
when I was in Orlando very young. I still was
maybe not even in high school, maybe being in a
high school. But anyway, my sister was modeling for like
Reebok and doing something with Disney out there, and they
were filming one of those shows. But I knew nothing
of it, like I didn't watch any of this stuff.
So but she was like, Hey, this guy's doing casting

for your age group.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
You should do it. So of course my mom forces
me to go. So I go.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
I have like no interest, to be honest, you to do.
So anyway, I ended up getting like part cast it
to like sit there like they're gonna pay me.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
Cool.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Cool, but I got to actually see how it works,
and it's crazy. So, like I sat at the table
with like three other people acting like we were talking,
like you're not you're not actually talking, Nobody.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
One sitting in there just like yeah, bana yeah, and
just listening.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
And then they're to tell you like you can't look over,
you can't look at the cameras, you can focus on
your table, blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
It's crazy. So I did it once and I was like.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
And it lasted forever though, like you said that, I
had no idea it was that one scene they shot
like three or four times, and it was like, wow,
it took like two hours for like like you're saying,
like a one.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Thirty minute episode, you're there.
Speaker 6 (15:42):
Because what I didn't really need to be rail the
convo was like you know what I mean, So save
there needs to be a camera that's catching the dialogue
going this blocking and then it's like, all right, we
got to flip the whole thing around and do it
again to catch it going this way. Another part that
was really funny was I was with Gronk, who was amazing.
Speaker 8 (15:56):
Dude.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
You know, anybody that knows uh Rob Gronkowski, dude, this hilarious.
He was the one that was speaking. But I'm with
him the whole time. We're eating cold fake hamburgers, pretending
like we're chilling on French fries. He's you know, he's
over here. We'd just bsing like, man, this is delicious,
even though they made it at ten am yesterday morning,
like we're just joking and stuff, and they would be like,
all right, cut Gronk, you can't make jokes because we

can still pull it up.
Speaker 8 (16:18):
So we were joking. We were kind of like the
problem child on the.
Speaker 5 (16:20):
Set a little bit, you know what I mean, Were
you were like really eating or did you have a
spit pucket?
Speaker 8 (16:24):
No, we were really eating.
Speaker 6 (16:25):
They were grilling like real burgers, that's what they were
really grilling burgers on good Burger too, which was fire.
But then Keenan because he knew me I was in
the scene with Gronk and he would come over and
it's a part where he's like pretending like he's cleaning
but eaves dropping on something that's happening. So he kept
on like spraying me with water, like you know what
I mean, just because it wasn't nothing I was in
the script. It's just his genius of being an ad

liber and being what he does on SNL and has
done a Nickelodeon for his entire year or his entire
years that he's been doing it.
Speaker 8 (16:51):
So it was like a whole thing.
Speaker 6 (16:52):
But just it was like all right, now we gotta
wipe down Maxwell's face because.
Speaker 8 (16:57):
It was like all kind of stuff.
Speaker 6 (16:58):
But so it took a lot longer, and I, yeah,
I really got in trouble. I really got in trouble.
Like yeah, I was like, dang, dude, I was like,
but I couldn't tell y'all that I was here, What
were you doing all day?
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Well, I hate burgers, yeah, and uh it's a great day.
Speaker 8 (17:11):
It was a great day.
Speaker 6 (17:12):
So that's that's how I got to That's how I
got to do a good burger. But it was to
go back to it and to kind of wrap up
this part of it for y'all is it was just
the wanting to be able to represent for where I
was kind of like we were saying on part one, it's
like I just wanted to be that person that was
able to elevate what I was doing. Also just to
make the team a little bit bigger or more established.
(17:33):
And that's how I felt with Nick Radio, I was like,
there's got to be somebody. We can't just be a
random radio station.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Ye, like I love passionate about what you're doing kids
on that No.
Speaker 8 (17:44):
It was myself.
Speaker 6 (17:45):
It was Wendy Wild when he was one of our
jocks out and it was mostly like a pre recorded
we was going and just I kind of do it.
Speaker 8 (17:52):
But I just I just knew that it had to
be more.
Speaker 6 (17:54):
It just felt like it was just this uncharted territory
because I would see it. I was just like, why now,
it's like kid pop, right yeah, yeah, yep, So that
was that was It was fun, but that was just
my That was my step into more of the hosting
in the in the kids entertainment. I got to I
got cast as as DJ Maxwell on the show that
they had that ran for two seasons.
Speaker 8 (18:15):
It was kind of like a little sitcom.
Speaker 6 (18:16):
That they called Make It Pop and it was all
about a group of kids who went to a private
boarding school and they formed their own K pop group.
And then the episodes that I got to do for that,
they I was the DJ in the in the fictional world,
you know, which, which is all the stuff that I
was seeing. I was like, why shouldn't it be a
random actor if it could be DJ Maxwell from Nick Radio.
(18:36):
So they built this into the script for Make It
Pop and it was crazy and you know what I mean. Yeah,
so it was dope, but they played the episodes.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
I did episodes, Yo, they're out there.
Speaker 8 (18:43):
Yeah, I got I should have I should have brought
you out with the clips.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
But it's fun.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
I love that.

I mean, you know, it was bigger advocating.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
For yourself, having a vision, fighting for that vision, and
becoming a brandom Bastrood, not just for you, but where
the brand could go exactly. And it's using your network,
which is your net worth. And we spoke about it
in season two, Episode two is your episode, and it's
that seems to be the theme throughout this whole season.
It's networking and relationship building and it comes up in

every episode and it's something that we continue to drill in.

It's the most important, Yeah, the most important.
Speaker 6 (19:20):
I mean, obviously it's what you what you do when
that opportunity presents itself, what you do to prepare for
when that opportunity to present itself, how you're able to deliver,
you know what I mean. It's obviously other things that
we work for, but it's like, you know what I mean,
it's fighting for yourself to say, like, hey, take a
chance on me, and I promise you it's going to
deliver for a reason that you maybe didn't think of,

or if you did think of it, and I'm not
the right fit.
Speaker 8 (19:43):
Cool, at least I didn't go to sleep thinking.
Speaker 6 (19:45):
To myself, damn, I should have said something, and then
it bypasses you and then it's somebody else doing it,
and I'm sitting at the house watching Make It Pop
and it's some random ass actor like doing what I
could have been doing if I would have just spoke up.
So and through that I met some really cool, some
really amazing talented actors and kids, and I kind of,
you know, stoke the fire for me to want to
do a little bit of, you know, more learning how

to act and be in front of a camera.

Is that is that your next step, man, bro?
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Getting out of your comfort zone?
Speaker 6 (20:12):
And I think I think so, dude, I think so.
I mean, I would I would love to. I mean,
I love I love being able to. I think, not
necessarily because I want to be me, but just I
just love the challenge and I love thinking, like, yo,
if I can take this on and I can accomplish it,
it's just going to.

House like I literally got to where I'm on today
just asking the questions that nobody else.

And but also you deliver when you're when you're asking
for that opportunity.

You don't ask for something you're not ready or you
don't have, so let's not go out there and just
start asking questions.

But it's also you know, walking the walk right, like
I've proven that I can do this.

Yeah, And it's building that trust.

Building that trust, it's it's building it's building that trust
with whoever it is that you're working with the artists
that and that was another thing that really helped within
that world, was especially with the artists and stuff I
was doing nick Radio was I was now in a
different world with the same artists that I was in
over here. So they the artists already had that trust.
So when they came to the Nickelodeon side of things

and they saw a familiar face, they saw somebody. I mean,
we were doing events with with flow Rider, we were
doing events with z with de Pain with you know
big I mean bb Rexa, you know what I'm saying,
Louis Tomlinson, I mean one direction, guys. I mean, but
it was all people who I had relationships with in
this world. So it made them that much more comfortable
(22:10):
when they were over here, when they saw a familiar face.
And I think that for the executives that weren't used
to that trust, that trust. So it was like, oh,
so if we can get Maxwell to come and do
these things, you know all the time, you know, I
was like, this is all I'm asking is I just
want to be that person there so I can make
sure that you get delivered the best product ever. All
the stuff we did with team Nick top Ten, I
(22:32):
don't even talk about that. When I was with with
Nick Cannon, you know.
Speaker 8 (22:34):
What I mean. It was like we were working with
Nick and Nig was like, I know you dude.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Like that is what that's called his passion, right, So
what Maxwell has is a passion to over deliver and
for sure, and he takes you know, his responsibilities seriously
and he gives his best at all times.

You know, he wants I appreciate that.

You can see I hear all the time.

I mean, I've told you this before and he knows
back in the backgrounds or in conversations I have. I
always talk about Maxwell of how like how good he
does his show, and you know he does stuff on
the radio.

I mean, everyone brings their own element, right, but like
Maxwell's very hands on, very love. He's always on the
phone talking to the people. You know, It's something that
you would definitely want, you know, as actually I'll say

But it's something that you actually look for, right where
you don't want a lazy talent, right, He's a total opposite.

In my head though as a programmer, I have so
much going on because I'm hearing him talk, right, and
I'm like, you have a lot of these I'm like,
whose phone numbers.

Looks like open your phone, all open mind.

You're working on all these shows and and like listen
on this side.

You know what, what's interesting. The wheels are turning.

But while we record our episodes, I just want to
say pro's phone does not stop and then he'll be
like sorry French Montana was type was like, let.

You know, I gotta take the vibration, the vibrating sound off.

In the music industries, there is no hours, right as
you know there are no hours.

I can show you my text messages like they were
flowing right through midnight right into like two, three, four
in the morning. People are hitting it because everyone's doing something
at that time. Even though I'm sleeping. I wake up
and I was away.

They come to you.

They comes to you because you're that dude, and that's
that's right. So I try to do like I just
want to. And what I love about.

Being there are popa pro everywhere goes to pro.

That's what I love about being here in New York
is that is that I have so many amazing peers
that you know what I mean that I just I
just love the work ethic. I love what y'all have
done for yourselves and how hard you've worked. And it's
like we're not around no rookies around here, and it's
like it's so so dope to yeah, just to see
how everybody moves and that that keeps me driven to

want to do bigger and more. And that's all I mean,
I kind of adapt to the vine and that's all
I'm that's all I'm trying to do now.

But it's also you know you you spoke about brand strategy,
you spoke about elevation, you spoke about amplification, you spoke
about self advocacy, and all of those are great attributions.
And that's why your partnerships continue to excel because you
bring value to the table and you put yourself behind
everything you do.

That's all you can do.

I mean, yeah, especially in our world where there are
a lot of people who want the opportunities that we're
you know, blessed to get that we are handed at
some point in time, but also opportunities that we work
towards receiving. And the last thing I want to do
is fumble a bag and how's gonna happen.

I'm not perfect, nobody's perfect. It's whatever.

But as long as I know that I'm doing my
best to be that person that the you know that
that whoever it is that's putting together whatever project it
is calls on, then then I know I'm going to
step up to the play. We had a big thing
not too long ago where we did our very first
ever live broadcast with Madison here. We broadcasted on all

the iHeart radio top forty stations on.

Our That was insane. It was social coverage for that.
Speaker 8 (26:06):
It was crazy.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
Tell us the scoop behind the scenes because you were
giving some teasers.
Speaker 8 (26:11):
Man, it was I was nervous.
Speaker 6 (26:12):
I'm not gonna lie because I knew what the magnitude
of what it was. It's our first time ever with
iHeart partnering with TikTok. I mean we went live on
TikTok at the same time that we were live on
all these radio stations, and I mean the TikTok platform.
As you know, there's there's almost there's billions of people
that part Heart.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
I just want to say that shout out for Heart.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
That was extremely innovative and strategic.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
We're gonna get Bob up there for really, We're gonna
get You'll tell you you're gonna get I gotta get
Bob on the podcast.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
That's the one. I'm gonna become like fully prepared.
Speaker 8 (26:42):
Over the shop.

I have exactly you talk about, you know, and not
you know, not not to take anything from any other
company there with just iHeart continues just to set level up,
bro set the level and the expectations, and another one.

I mean it was insane, the rooms set up like glass,
having her in the middle, everything you were.
Speaker 8 (27:02):
It was there's so much.
Speaker 5 (27:03):
Go to the iHeart Instagram, go to in Maxwell's house
Instagram and you'll see all all of the reels.

It was really cool.

Everything just to know that it was a part of
our first ever collaboration.

Really in that magnitude with TikTok. There was a lot
that there was.
Speaker 6 (27:20):
I mean, I had some conversations where people were like, look,
this is our first time doing this, not trying to
you know, say don't screw it up, but don't screw
it up, you know what I mean, because like if
it goes wrong this they might not ever come back
to it.
Speaker 8 (27:32):
Yeah you know, but if it goes right, it could
be something. And all the all the while, people were.
Speaker 6 (27:36):
And I was having these you know conversations, watching the
emails flow, oh like like trust me, like you know
what I mean. But I felt that confidence in myself
because I knew I was telling, you know, myself and
and not so many words to everyone I was communicating
with up the food chain. Was like, like, you guys,
put me in this position because you know, I can
hit this home run for y'all, and I promise you
I'm gonna do I'm gonna do that for you because
with Madison, she and I have a relationship and a

friendship that was extremely comfortable. That was going to set
her at ease, you know, with the magnitude of what
was going on. I mean, it's literally all of TikTok
was going to be watching this, you know what I mean.
And we knew that, but I also knew that I
could deliver and to have it be something after the
fact that it actually did and we we nailed it.
When I tell you it was I think that the wow,
(28:22):
I honest say, I think that the numbers were almost
like a quarter of a million people were watching it
was like ninety two something.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
So for anybody watching this right now or listening to it,
can they go back right now? And yeah, because it
lives now.
Speaker 8 (28:32):
It lives now.
Speaker 6 (28:32):
It's like yeah, if you if you google, you go
hop on TikTok and type in iHeart and Madison Beer
like you're going to see, you know, social media clips
that we pulled from it. We ran, Yeah, we played
some of our brand new music, but it just was really.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
Stream lives somewhere the full half.
Speaker 6 (28:46):
An hour stream. I'm not one hundred percent sure. I
don't want to say that, but I mean, they we
have so.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Many well Madison's people, let us know.
Speaker 6 (28:52):
Madison's people get at me. I mean, we got clips
that are out there for the world to have.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
And so because if listeners ask, they're demanding it.
Speaker 6 (28:57):
They're demanding, they want it, we can say that, Yeah,
it was so dope to have been the person that
helped deliver that. Again, it's not because it was me.
It was because I knew that I would be the
best person inside.

So so let's let's let's ask this question so for people,
because because I I've been on that side of the
chair right where you have all this pressure on you, yeah, right,
and you're about to I used to deal with it
every week when I was doing one on six in
part YEP, just as the DJ. Because then they started
having me almost like a co host with them, where
I got lines and I you know, reading the prompter
and then just knowing like and at this point there's
(29:30):
a million viewers every single time on the show, Like,
so you know, like a million people are about to
see you don't.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
And they'll tell you. They'll tell you got the script?
Are you good?
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Sure?
Speaker 1 (29:38):
Don't mess it up? The words are moving, what goals
are the people listening?
Speaker 2 (29:42):
What goes through your head right before you go live,
Like in these moments, how do you relax yourself?
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Like where do you start thinking?
Speaker 8 (29:50):
You know, I do think don't screw it up. I
really do.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
I'm not even go to front like I'm like, man,
all right, I do think don't screw it up. But
also at the time I think in it and it
went through my mind this most recent time, it is
like I'm in this position for a reason, like I'll
be I'll be good, like trusting yourself, trusting your ability
that you're gonna it's gonna be all right, you know
what I mean?
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Just like and then once it gets going, Yeah, the
jitters are always right in the this is a good question.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
After that, Like a public speaker, I always get the
jitters before I'm doing something live, But then once you're there,
that's it.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
So this is something that just we all you know,
it feel the same.
Speaker 8 (30:36):
You both nailed it. That's exactly it.
Speaker 6 (30:38):
Like I, you know, every time, it don't matter, it
could be everything else, to be a jingle ball, to
be k for you as soon as whatever it is
that you're doing. It's but once you get past that first,
like it was up guys, welcome to iHeart Radio, all
of a sudden you're.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Just like I did one of those I think it
was with Cal. I didn't want with t I and
I didn't want Cali where I had to host them
in the iHeart Theater and it was being broadcast that everywhere,
you know, on all the rail stations. It's nerve wracking
because you know, like you said, leaning into it, you're
going over the scripts and everybody there's a full team,
so that you know, once you realize everyone's focused on
you like this and there's like fifty.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Peop and you're like why.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
And you're going through the whole script and this is
what's gonna happen at this point and da da da,
and you know you have to say this and mention
this and turn this way and look at that camera
for and all that's a lot of pressure and then
you go live and then when you're out there, you're
just like trying to calm calm myself down. It was.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
It was a lot. It's when I.
Speaker 6 (31:32):
Started to think about, you know, and I tried not to,
but it was impossible to not think about the fact
that all of TikTok, like they were like, Yo, this
is gonna go this, there's gonna pop up, that's gonna
pop up on the front page of TikTok. And then
what was wild was like after it was done. I
mean we all hugged out. It was I mean, the
numbers we crushed it. So proud of myself, proud of
the team that made it happen, everybody from top to bottom.
The thing that hit me the craziest when I realized,
(31:53):
I was like, damn, this is a big deal. Is
I got a text from my sister in our family
group chat and she was like, not. My nephew's name
is Strayvon, seventeen years old. Young dude, he's on watch
you on TikTok. My bro, when I tell you pro stole,
just watch you. He was like, he came running too
my sister's house. He's like, not Trayvon running and knocking
on my window in the bedroom saying like, why is
uncle on TikTok sitting next to Madison Beer with like
(32:14):
three hundred thousand people. And I just but he had
no idea because I mean I it was and you
were like minded.
Speaker 5 (32:19):
Forget my entire career, this is my maide up moment.
Speaker 6 (32:23):
I'm cool with my nephew, you know what I'm saying.
But it was like, it's wild, you know what I mean.
But if you allow yourself to think about that and
let that pressure build on you, then you're gonna crumble.
But I just you know, it's okay to be nervous
in that moment. But once we did it, it's just like, dude,
this is it. And we had a blast, and I'm
hoping and I'm thinking, and from what I understand, there's
gonna be more opportunities that we're going to be able
to level up with.
Speaker 8 (32:41):
iHeart intertalk and building partnership.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
That's all that shot.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
I heart the partnerships that they're they've created in their
building and they continue to build their our next.
Speaker 8 (32:50):
Level and I just love being a part of it.
So and that that's all it is.
Speaker 6 (32:53):
Because again, It goes back to everything he said the
very first episode why not me?
Speaker 8 (32:56):
Like, why should it be somebody else?
Speaker 3 (32:58):
If you can do it, if you.

Could do it, I could.

I promise you, I can, I promise, I promise you.
I'm gonna put myself. I'm a practice. I will prepare
myself enough and if I'm not. If I don't, then
it's okay. It's not in the world. There's somebody that
was better for that position and it wasn't meant for.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Me and for anybody watching or listening right now, remember
these words. If you do not ask, the answer is
always going to be no. So if you're if you've
been sitting on uh, something you want to do. Maybe
you want to go to your boss ask for a raise,
Maybe you want to go to your head whoever the manager,
and say, hey, I want to upgrade to this position,
(33:32):
or can I do this or can I do that?
Speaker 1 (33:34):
The answer is no. If you don't ask, always, always,
in forever.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
It's advocacy, but it's also preparation.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
You'd be surprised.

Have a pitch prepared, Yeah, have your data inline?
Speaker 1 (33:45):
What the down? Yeah? I definitely I learned that young too. Like,
so when you ask for something. Be prepared, yet, be prepared.
I would ask for things back in the days.

I remember, like on radio, even when I came to
New York and I started doing afternoons on Power on
A five, and the p at that time was Cadillac. Right, yeah, Cadillac.
I did my research. He's a numbers person, right. He
was a numbers person, strictly numbers right, great guy. So
I wanted to mix on my show for more time
than I was mixing. So I went and started. I
(34:14):
went into the ratings. I found out what the ratings were.
I said, you know, what are the rains when I'm mixing?
What are the rains when I'm not mixing?
Speaker 1 (34:19):
D da da da.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
I broke it down on paper, why we should mix longer,
why I should move this commercial break to this blah blah.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Blah, late it all. He looked at it. He said,
sounds like great.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
I didn't mean you should do it start next when
you want to start immediately. This is what you're like,
this is what I want to call it. Blah blah blah,
and there you go. I left that room saying, got
it done. But if I never asked, it would have
never happened. Because they'll just allow you to do what
they tell If you do what they tell you to
do and that's it, then that's what it's going to be.
Speaker 8 (34:44):
Yeah, that's what it's going to be.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
If you ever want to excel and do more, you
have to ask. If the answers no is cool, maybe
you'll come later, whatever the case is, but you have
to sometimes be willing to carbadium.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Yeah damn, seize the day.
Speaker 5 (34:57):
But also it's about you know, doing your research and
having mentors and you know, pick a brain, ask questions.
That's something that I always say that I'm so grateful
not just to both y'all, but everyone here at iHeart
is everyone is so open and everyone's so open minded
and willing to learn and willing to explain and that
(35:20):
growth mindset. Like it's so cool to see the synergy
between Early and iHeart because that partnership, well, this partnership
has synergized on that. It's everyone's open to be creative
and how can we elevate, how can we build to
the next level, And me coming in the booth and
be like Maxwell, I loved what you did on social
and you're telling me, Hey, so this is how I
did it. This is what I was thinking, this is
(35:41):
what you got to do. And then sitting with pro
and what do you think about this? And these different
you know, revenue streams or business alignments.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
And things like that.
Speaker 5 (35:48):
So it's so cool that we can have this dialogue
and have these you know, like next level so the business.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
Relationships, and at the end of the day, hopefully you're
somebody listening watching that it motivates.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Them to get to that next step.
Speaker 6 (36:04):
I mean it as all it takes is one person, man.
I mean, we're we're doing what feels.
Speaker 8 (36:07):
Right in our hearts.
Speaker 6 (36:08):
And it's really like it's amazing when you, yeah, when
you just know that you're doing what's right in your
heart and it connects. I mean, like you said, even
if it's just one person, man, it's like it was just.

We can build your build your ecosystem. Look at your friends,
see what your friends are doing. Be inspired. You know,
sometimes you don't have to look that far. It's not
always about a personality. It's look at your own inner circle,
you know, and if you're like, there's no insipo here,
then maybe change that circle.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
And that's okay too. Sometimes you know, we.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Out there, Okay, remember when I said this in one
of our other episodes. Right, sometimes you're the person who
has to uplift your circle. You can't always rely on
your circle being people that are always above you.

Right yep.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
So because if everyone thought like that, what happens to
the people that need uplifting?
Speaker 1 (36:56):

bring more eyes over to meet some other goals. But
I really, I really do like some of the you know,
