start to their first game of the series with the Dodgers,
and then the Astros remembered they were the Astros, and
so the same script unfolded by the way of all

the things that happened last night in the Astros game
against the Dodgers, the opener of that three game set
tomorrow or tonight another seven ish start, and then Tomorrow's
gonna be a day game. Kyle Tucker hitting a home
run is probably the most particularly insulting to me, Like,
this guy has sucked this year, and he had his
struggles last year with Chicago, and I get it. They're

the Dodgers. They're the big bad Dodgers. There the best
team money can buy. I don't need him hitting a
home run at Dyke And Park.

Much more displeased with his flare that drove in the
first run than his home run. That's much more displeasing.
I don't know what the Astros just didn't It was
a simple game. They can't pitch right, end of story.
That's the script. It was a second straight bullpen day,
which is disastrous for any team, any team in Major
League Baseball, and a lot there are a lot more
teams going through injury issues this year, I think overall

than there maybe were last year. But you decided not
to start Ryan Weiss and go with an opener, which
is nothing wrong with that decision. Okert wasn't hit hard,
but hit enough to need to be pulled before the
first inning was over. Weiss came in in an awful
situation and got out of it, and then he was
unable to do anything positive, which has unfortunately been his

story for the entirety of his season and career with
the Astros. He throws too many hitable pitches, very very
hittable pitches, and not enough competitive pitches when he's walking guys.

So they didn't really have a choice.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
It was clear he wasn't going to get through their
lineup very often without giving up runs. But with no
choice and nobody else to go to, they just kept
sending him back out there, and the Dodgers kept scoring
runs off of him. So a three run game for
your own offense against one of the elite pitchers in
baseball and a very good bullpen. Not saying you should
win that game by any means, but you shouldn't be
You should be playing, you know, you'd like to be

playing a three to two game, a four to three game,
a five to three game, where every time you come
to it bat in the sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth innings,
you feel like, if we can just get a runner
on The Astros are unfortunately in a situation most of
the year they need to well, if we can just
load the bases and hit a grand slam, then after
that we might have a chance to win. Seven runs
on the board for the opposition is far, far too commonplace,

and it happened again last night to open up this series,
and they have at least as strong of a pitcher
on the mound tonight with Shoheo Tani. The Astros at
least will counter with a starting pitcher that helps. Like
I said, two straight days of really taxing a bullpen
that's been awful to begin with. Bullpens don't get better

by being overused, especially bad ones, and that's where they're
stuck right now.

We're bearing the lead, though twenty twenty five, the sequel

YEP and if if all of their players were healthy,
and I don't honestly, I don't think this season would
be much different if they were. Even if Hunter Brown
was healthy, that's the only one you could even point to.
I mean, what what if Jeremy Pinney was healthy, it
would be the best offense instead of the second best offense.

That's the thing the note.

If Josh Hater was healthy, then you'd minimize the workload
that's been disastrous for a breadew I guess. I mean,
it's not like he's going out there and blowing saves.
It's not like anybody's going out there and blowing saves.
There are no saves to blow, right, And that's the core.

That's why I think yet last season was such a
It hurts more now in hindsight, because you had fromber
Right and you had Hunter Brown, and you had better pitching,
I guess.

Light years better pitching.

But you had what's the biggest pendulum swing from last
year this year?

Is it the offense or is it the pitching.

It's not even a debatable point in my opinion. I
know I'm here to debate the their pitching is the
worst baseball by an enormous amount. Nothing else comes close
to it. No matter how much offense they have, nothing
comes closer. They cannot get guys out often enough to
win baseball games.

That it's bad.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
But I'm thinking that like people are forgetting just how
anemic they were at times last year.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Offensively, I don't. I don't think people are forgetting it.
They weren't the worst offense in baseball. Yeah, and I
guess that's the worst pitching staff in big They weren't
even close to the worst off It just didn't a
lot of did it not feel? I felt like there
were a lot of winnable games, but you just couldn't
score enough runs to win them.

It's a different feeling this year.

You know, your a couple innings into the open, we've
come off of a road series victory. We're back at
home playing the Dodgers. We take the lead and the
bottom of the first inning after giving up a run
in the top right, and it's immediately gone because you
just can't get through twenty seven outs without giving up
on average six runs a game.

I think, and I was. I was thinking about this.
You know, what is a more helpless feeling as a
fan if you are watching a game knowing.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
The fans were fine last night, No, I know they
were Dodger fans. I know they were. I saw all
of them.

I had many, many examples of people I knew personally
and otherwise with pictures, and it was just invaded.

And that's what happened.

And they're all wearing their stupid gold jerseys, and that's fine,

Every variety of jersey was out there for obviously both teams,
so yes seeded where I was last night behind the
Dodgers dugout. I mean you could hear them all game long,
and you knew even on the concourse if it was
a good or bad thing for the home team the
way the fans were reacting because it was such a
loud crowd. But right behind their dugout, every player that's
been a Dodger of note for the last fifteen years,

Wearing their jersey. Yes, why whether there or not.

Yeah, I mean there's plenty of Clayton Kershaw jerseys. Bets
was in the house. Neither of them were contributing yesterday

But I mean, what's a more helpless feeling when you've
got dominant pitching but you know you're not going to
be able to back it up with a run, or
worse yet, you're gonna leave guys on base that could
have come home to support that picture.

Or you've got a really good.

Offense, even up against some of the most elite pitching
in baseball at times, and it doesn't matter because your
pitchers can't get people out.

And like I said before, it's not even close because
the ass take the other day in Boston, it's six
nothing and you're sweating. You're sweating the entire game. How
are they gonna get the next fifteen eighteen outs? And
they did make you sweat it got it to six'.

to do nothing to beat. You and luckily the next
