Speaker 1 (00:00):
Awesome B ninety three, Awesome sauce. Start your day on
a positive note. Awesome sauce right around six to ten
weekday mornings with the B ninety three Morning Show, brought
to you by Modernistic. This is such a tremendous, incredible journey,
and it is now complete, really, after thousands of miles,

(00:22):
countless setbacks, and a whole lot of grit. Peter Frank,
a twenty three year old from Michigan, has officially paddled
the Great Loop. I didn't even know what this was.
I don't know that I know what it is, either
six thousand mile waterway that runs from Canada through the
Great Lakes, down the Mississippi River and all the way

(00:43):
around to Florida before you loop back and go north again.
Holy cow. He did this in a canoe. That's it.
How do you go north on a river? Exactly? Holy cow? Exactly?
And he did it counterclockwise because that was more challenging. Oh,
so he went the opposite where you're supposed to go
for the whole entire thing. So he was against the

(01:05):
wind the whole time. No, thank you. It takes people
years or a yacht to make this trip. But he
took a paddle, a purpose and an unstoppable will. He
did not pick the easy route. He went clockwise, the
harder direction, just to push himself further. But for Peter,
this wasn't just about the adventure of a lifetime. This

(01:26):
was about resilience. For him, nearly a decade ago, he
was in a car crash that shattered his spine and
doctors were not sure if he would walk again. Wow.
Now he has paddled across the continent. He said, I
think the most important thing I can do on this
journey is keep true to myself and just lead by example.
We are all stronger than we think. His trip wasn't

(01:48):
without danger. He fought dehydration, endured hurricane winds, and once
canoed through a fifteen mile chain of islands for one
hundred and twenty five hours straight just to stay safe
during a storm. Through it all, he says, gratitude kept
him going. Wow. Each stroke of the paddle a reminder
of what the human body and spirit can overcome. He said.

(02:11):
Every day I paddled, and I did it with gratitude.
It proves that as human beings we can stand up
and achieve so much more than we believe now he
is back home in Michigan and his story isn't just
a record setting adventure. It is literally a living reminder
that even after life knocks you down or shatters your spine,

(02:33):
you can still find your way forward, one paddle at
a time. That's incredible. Twenty three years old, six thousand miles,
just him and his canoe. Yeah, and going upstream on
any of that has got to be a challenge. Wild
holy cow. That's how you start your day on a
positive note. The awesome Sauce six' ten Weekday mornings with

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
