Speaker 1 (00:00):
Five point fifty three. Here are three things you should
know today. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has expanded a state of
emergency to include several West Michigan counties after those tornadoes
and storms Tuesday night. Growing concerns about two dams, one
near the White River in Hisperia, where residents are being
told to be ready to evacuate, and then another in

(00:20):
northern Michigan near the bel Air Dam, which is nearing capacity.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Lots of flooding.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
I saw the houses along the Muskegon River were like
dangerously clothes getting very close to houses.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Too big news for nurses in Michigan.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Lawmakers just passed a bill that would ban mandatory overtime
in most situations now. This is backed by the Michigan
Nurses Association. This is aimed at reducing burnout and improving
patient safety by limiting how long nurses have to stay
after their shift is over. This used to be a
requirement that they stay. There are still some exceptions for emergencies.

(00:58):
This would not take take A five until twenty twenty seven,
but still this is a major step in addressing staffing
shortages and workload concerns across the state. Another update in
the case of the missing Michigan woman Lynnette Hooker. Her
husband has now left the Bahamas. He is returning to
the United States after being released from custody without any charges. However,

(01:19):
police are still saying he's not cleared as a suspect.
He's just not in our custody anymore. So they're still
searching the US Coast Guard and now they're also bringing
in cadaverdogs. Ooh jeez, So keep you posted on that one.
That's three things you should know. Here's one you probably shouldn't.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
All Right, I'm gonna throw out a lot of words
and I don't like saying out loud, but I need
you to follow me.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Okay, have you ever heard of the phrase look smacking maxing?

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yes, health maxing, yes, productivity maxing.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
This is all gen Z terms. These are all terms
that my daughter when she tells me I'm slaying each day.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
You know what I learned the other day? Evil maxing?

Speaker 4 (01:59):
What's that?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Someone's boss was popping off and they were like, my
boss is evil maxing day And I was like, I
like that one.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Yeah, I think you might like this one too. It's
called Nona maxing.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
It is a pushback against hustle culture and constant overstimulation.
It's all about living like an Italian grandmother. Instead of
optimizing every second of the day, the trend encourages slowing
way down, walking instead of rushing, cooking simple homemade meals,
staying connected to family and neighbors, and actually enjoying your

(02:33):
coffee without multitasking.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Yeah, doesn't that sound like the dream?

Speaker 1 (02:39):
That is so funny because this past weekend I was like,
you know what, this week I'm going to get up
a little bit earlier so that Champ and I can
go outside for a little bit longer and I can
like have my coffee before I go to work, like
before I start the whole like rush of like get
the charbrusher to YouTube, right right right, We're gonna enjoy
our mort did we do?

Speaker 3 (03:00):
No? No, there's science behind it too, I guess, because
the idea is it comes from living like an Italian
grandmother would live. The science behind it is regular walking,
strong community ties, and positive attitude towards aging and all
support longevity.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
But I wasn't thinking about it like that.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
I was more thinking, I feel like I've spent the
last fifteen twenty years of my life. Hustle, Yeah, hustle everybody.
I mean it's not just me, it's everybody. But that's
how I feel. And I wouldn't mind slowing down, slowing
wad out.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Well I don't. I got three kids.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
I don't know that that's happening anytime soon, but I
like the idea behind it. Maybe maybe noamaxing moments, take
moments to slow down and then do what you gotta do,
and then take moments to slow down.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
I'm just my brain is too wired right now.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
It's too wired, really, that's the best way I can
say it, folk or too too wired to let go.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Let's go, all right, what's the next thing we're going.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
That's why the nonahs food tastes so good.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
His delaicious.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
They just slow and slow.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
We've been cooking for hours and they.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Cook for days in a row, and it's like, okay,
dinner's ready, like three days from now. Worth it be naughty?

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Three Sports Tigers meet the Royals yesterday two to one.
They finished up their three game series today at one ten.
Red Wings lost to Florida and just another season. Yeah,
but it's it's done. So there's that.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
I mean, there was like that the Olympics on the
Olympics team, we can celebrate that.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Right, Yeah, we can hold out of that. S
