by Jeff skin Wade, Kevin k t Teardown Turner and
Christina Kray little baby carm bra Ray back going back.
Have you guys ever dealt with having an old dog?
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Oh? Yeah, no, absolutely never had a dog.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Man Shane Gillis does a good job talking about old
dogs and his material. He's like, I think he was
talking about Biden and he was like, you know, everyone's
it's like having an old dog. And you know, one
of your friends has an old dog and you're at
their house and all of a sudden, the dog walks
in and you're like, oh, there.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
There is looking good. He's hanging in there, he's just
doing okay. I had a friend that just recently had
that situation. It was so tough. Well, yeah, so our
our veteran dog, Barkley.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
He's nearing the end here, and I want to use
it as an opportunity to criticize my wife good And uh,
are you.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Cool with that?
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Christina?
Speaker 4 (02:05):
That's fine, let's hear it. Yeah, I love off Mike
Christina because my wife is tough as nails. My wife's
from Oklahoma and she was raised by single mother and
she's just been tough her whole life. You know, she
didn't come from a lot. She's frugals, good with money,
she's tough as hell. One time she was a bartender
(02:26):
and she was followed home because somebody wanted to rob her,
and so she got out of her car and they
punched her right in her face and tried to take
her purse, and.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
She proceeded to kick their ass. Bam. He's just tough.
That's tough. She once shot a man just for snoring, so.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
She doesn't My kids don't get a lot of sympathy
from her.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
She's toughening them up, which is great.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Yes, so they also know they can't ask her for
something and she'll say no and then come to me
because I'll say yes, but she will. They'll then feel
her wrath for going around her and coming to me.
So anyway, she's just tough. That's you know. I'm not
trying to make her out to not be a sweet person.
She also is that, but she's also tough, and good
for her for that. She sounds like Winston Churchhill. The
(03:08):
other night we had people over the house and it was,
you know, for July fourth hangout thing. It was like
all day long pool type deal, and Barkley, who has
to get help getting up oh no, walked all the
way out there and then sat in the number one
worst place for him to be, right in the walkway
where everyone who's coming to our house is gonna have
(03:30):
to walk. They're all carrying ice chests and coolers and
stuff like that, and so they're all gonna.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Have to step around this dog that can't move.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Oh man y right, So I'm like, hey, honey, like
we should move him somewhere else.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Right. She goes, she's nice. Fine.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
I'm like, well, he's kind of you know, he's stuck
here and he's in the way.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
And he's like, it's not good. Good for she goes, nic,
it's fine, look at him. People can get around him.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Well, he sat there for to say, like sixteen hours.
He was just there for a long time. I was
there for a long long time. And then by the
time I went to bed, I you know, I went
to bed early before everyone even left my house.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
It was like that.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
And so my good friend Tyler heroically when when it
was time for the night to end, Kat always goes, oh,
he's fine, he can get up on his own, and
everyone's like, what are you talking, Like, I don't think
he can. Two of those legs don't work, and yeah,
it's four of them, Like the back legs aren't really
doing the lord's work. Yeah, And so Tyler heroically picked
(04:36):
up Barkley and carried him in the house, which was
very nice. Right, throws back out. And so tonight or
this morning, you know, I'm leaving and my wife's like
I hear her talking to Barkley and she does this
all the time. She's like, Okay, Barkley, come on, hop up.
And I'm like, she, I don't know in her mind
if it's connecting, if she thinks he's being lazy. But
(04:58):
if you watch him, you can tell that only his
front legs are working when he's walking. Yeah, because he's
kind of dragging the back legs a little bit.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
They're they're there and they're kind of moving and stuff.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
But God bless him and so but she says, yeah, no,
but I say that to him enough.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
He'll get up on his own inspiration. And so I
don't know. Yeah, I don't know. She's a dog coach
and she's trying to get him fired up.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
You know.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
It's like, yeah, like, hey, he can't right, I can
still do this, Yeah, let's go what do you what
are you thinking? Christaler? To me, it would just be
hard to accept, and so I would just keep saying
it and just not accept the fact that my dog
is that old because I, uhh, yeah, that's that's exactly right.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
Like she is she's she's she's believing that he gets
on arthritis medicine. He's doing a little better, and so
he just needs a little encouragement to coach him up, right.
I remember towards the end of Roxy's run, Roxy couldn't
and Roxy started having these seizures, so it got really bad.
But there is a moment where Roxy just couldn't use
her legs at all, and me and Trish were just
sitting there going.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
All right, Roxy, come on, you got this, you know,
just trying to will her.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Uh yeah, but we we knew, we knew. Well, it's hard.
It's a hard thing, right, yes, So how how much
longer do you have after this period where we are well,
how long has this period been going on?
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Yeah, I would say he's been in this this way
for probably four or five months now, six months.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Maybe think every day is a gift, right in? Every
day a gift, That's what I'm thinking.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
But that dog has been one of the greatest pets
in the history of the Rogers family of a run.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Well, it's a good question.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
I know that Grace is about to be sixteen, and
there's pictures of Grace hug hugging him as a puppy
and she was probably three. Yeah, and uh, this is
one of the hybrid doodle dogs.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
Yeah, their runs can be anywhere from nine. If you
get twelve years out of a dog like that, man,
you do really well. Yeah, you've done really so, if
not in dog years. But just how many miles are
on his odometer right now?
Speaker 3 (06:59):
If it a lot? He's an American muscle car. So
many how many miles? Like one hundred and forty eight thousand?
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Good?
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Yeah, he's gonna have to be restored. Man told him
that the Cowboys are gonna wint a super Bowl. That
dog like not not in my life I've be talking
about hanging on here.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Well, shout out to Barkley, and shout out to all
the old dogs, and shout out to guys who look
for new ways to criticize their wives. Coming off next again,
where you gonna take us in things? Skin is tracking?
Speaker 3 (07:25):
All right?
Speaker 4 (07:26):
What is the first thing that pops into your mind
when I ask you this question?
Speaker 3 (07:31):
We'll do it next right here on the Eagle before
we get there.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
