Speaker 1 (00:00):
Happy Hemp day, everybody. It's world famous Ben and Skin
Show ninety seven point one. The Eagle You popping one open?
What he got there?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Humpday beverage? Are you toasting? Three o'clock? Who are you toasting?

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Me?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Or Christina?

Speaker 4 (00:12):
Shine down?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Okay, simple man? What be ful? Cover? Hey man?

Speaker 1 (00:15):
I got to share something with you guys. Skin is
no longer with us. He's turned his back on listeners again.

Speaker 4 (00:20):
God yeah, that's but he always He told me he
was celebrating his weekenniversary of dapping his hero Tom Brady.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
He will be back tomorrow. But so sorry about that, Kevin.
Enjoy today though, well you have it.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
We'll have a good day today. I have a really
good day. But I got to share the story with
you guys.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
And so I have decided that my TVs are too small?

Speaker 2 (00:44):
I agree? Okay, is this like a Michael Scott situation?
Or okay, well, how do you mean like.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
He was bragging about his flat screen and it's like
a tiny, very tiny, maybe a foot long screen that
he's trying to show off.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Okay, maybe it is like that.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
But when I bought my house several years ago, we
were endorsing star Power and so I bought these TVs
from our partner's Star Power, and I had had them
at my house this whole time, and I just think
TV technology changes so unbelievably quickly, and that all of
a sudden, I was shopping at all these you know,
Black Friday deals around Thanksgiving, and I was like, oh

(01:22):
my god, I can get a TV way bigger than
the one I have now for a very little amount.
So I went ahead and I ordered two and a
lot of hays do with my declining eyesight. And so
I got a giant TV for the bedroom.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Giant.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
I think it's seventy seven inches, And like, my wife's like,
this is overkill, This is so stupid. But and so
if I was going to upgrade the bedroom TV, I
had to do the living room TV as well, because
you can't have your backup quarterback being better than your
starting quarterback. The bedroom TV is the backup quarterback. The
starting quarterback is the living room.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Absolutely everybody knows this. Everybody knows this.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
And so I was in a situation where the backup
was smaller than the Anyway Games Super Rush, Yeah, it's
a Cooper Rush situation.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
So now I've got I buy it from best Buy.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
I'm like, great, I'm probably the biggest spender in all
of best Buy for whatever reason.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
I love that story there all the time.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
And they're like, no problem, thanks for your order. We
will deliver that TV between seven am and seven pm.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Oh m, how the windows for deliveries have gotten out
of control.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
It's out of control. And dude, it is a giant TV.
It's like the Jumbo Tron at Att Stadium. I can't
just leave it on the porch.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
The Internet service people will always do a you know,
between one pm and seven pm.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
And I'm yeah, look, you got appointments.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
I can work with a two hour window, but people
got stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
To do twelve hour windows. That's insane. You know what
else is insane? Our intro song, some bad.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Start time movies. Right now, you're right right, right, right right.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
You're trying to do one.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
Or time quick ef it with I show you're gonna
ruling it be, Except we are similar. Wee pursuing it.
Tuddled out shaw shank through the sewer, kid, now what
chilling at the eagle? Yeah, we're doing it. Three o'clock
on the dock. Got a habit for my house? A
goat status Howard starting to get craddic. Shows that up

(03:32):
multiplied like a rabbit. Two.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Then zone out, crank it up, beat the habit.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
I'm on everything out with the friends, rocking it on
the radio.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
My money's talking on the radio.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
It's time to do this.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Fog all we go KTI three up, All up, Mama radio.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
All right, we goof off.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
On this show, we laugh a lot, hopefully we entertain
you and have you laughing a lot as well. But
if we have an opportunity to help make a difference
in this world, we're going to try to use this
platform to do that. And we're gonna have a special
guest who's going to join us in a moment. But
our friends at PI Tap have a very special promotion
going on tonight. It's called PI Tap for Poppy Pie Tap,

(04:23):
Pizza Workshop and Bar, and they're doing something very special
to raise funds to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Now we're
going to tell you about this. Now this could impact
your dinner plans. They got a location in Design District, Henderson, Plano, Addison,
Frisco and Fort Worth. More on this and how you
can have delicious pizza and help a special cause. But Kati,

(04:46):
Alzheimer's is something that has impacted you in your life.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Yeah, my grandpa had it, Papaul Clyde, I'm sorry, No,
I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
My mem a had it first. I should start there.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
For him, it kind of hit towards the end, but yeah,
for hers, But ten or eleven years ago, she uh,
you know I noticed at the end of high school.
In fact, in high school, me and my cousin Blake,
and we all lived like in the same field, like
on the same piece of land. But we would go
once a week and go have lunch with me mom
and Papa. You know, it's kind of a tradition. But

(05:17):
you know, I start to notice you go over there
and then she's kind of repeating yourself and saying things
you know she have like offered you she always offered
as a soda, and then you know, five ten minutes
later she would do it again. Now we had to
get through it with a lot of like, Okay, we're
gonna have to have fun with this, otherwise this is
going to be terrible, and it it breaks your heart. Yeah,

(05:38):
because there are times they don't know you and there
I'm not even sharing, you know, really bad things about it,
but like it's a it's a terrible, terrible disease that
I know. Researchers are working hard to slow it down
or detect it earlier and things like that, and hopefully
one day we can eliminate it. But it is a

(05:59):
terrible terror disease that affects a lot of people.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Well, we have a friend of the show to the
Great Jean Briquette, has been through this with his sweet mom.
It's just such a hard, hard thing. And you know,
it's never easy to have your parents or grandparents get old.
But this is just a very very sad path to
go down. And one of the things that's inspiring anytime
you encounter, you know, something that is you know, a

(06:24):
hardcore grief or something very difficult to go through, is
when young people are inspired to help, and young people
are inspired to do something to create change. And that
brings us to our guests. Who's joining us now. Her
name is Ella Hicks. She's a junior at TCU. She's
studying strategic communications and she's joining us now. Ella, how
are you doing today?

Speaker 4 (06:45):
I'm great?

Speaker 1 (06:46):
How are you We're doing great? Thank you for taking
the time to jump on with us. We heard what
you had cooking at Pie Tap at all the locations,
So explain to us what you guys have going on
and how it came to be.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah, absolutely, thank you so much for having me on.
Hi Tap is a local DFW pizza restaurant and it's
really dang good. If you've never been, you've got to
go try it out, and tonight's definitely the good night
to do so. But I am the head of philanthropy
for my sorority at TCU, Texas Christian University. I'm a

(07:23):
Sigma Kappa there and last year, at the beginning of
the year, they called me and they asked me if
I wanted to be the head of philanthropy. And our
philanthropy is the Alzheimer's Association, and my grandfather, Poppy, as
we've been talking about, he suffers from Alzheimer's. He was
diagnosed a couple of years ago and it's just been

(07:44):
absolutely devastating and super hard for me and my family
to you know, go through that and to see him
decline and lose his memories. So I knew that I
had to take this position because I wanted to do
everything that I could to make a difference. And so
this year, we have raised over one hundred and fourteen

(08:09):
thousand dollars and tonight we hope to raise more with
Pie Tap for Poppy, which is, you know, four to
ten pm tonight at any Pie Tap location, you just
go and tell them that you're there for the Alzheimer's
Association or for Poppy, and they'll make sure to mark
it down.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
That is incredible, And so you guys are doing something
really really special to impact something that really hits close
to home. And so folks tonight who you can go
have a great dinner, go have some delicious pizza. It
looks like on your Instagram. On the Instagram for Pie Tap,
there's a location in Design District, Henderson, Plano, Addison, Frisco,

(08:48):
and Forward, so it looks like there's six locations and.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Okay, it takes places to choose from.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
And so folks can go to any of those locations
tonight and proceeds are going to go to the Alzheimer's
Association for dinner tonight.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yes exactly. And you know, it's just such an amazing
thing that I get to do this and I'm so
grateful that you guys are having me on today. And
my grandfather he's gotten to the point where he doesn't
remember short a lot of short term things. But every
single time that I tell him about this event, he cries.

(09:22):
And so it's just amazing to be able to get
the same emotional reaction every single time I tell him,
because he's just everything to me. He's my favorite person,
and so I'm so glad I get to do this.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Well, Ella, you know I I have had friends go
through this. You just heard Kat talking about, you know,
having his grandparents go.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Through it, and another sorry you went through.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
That, and so but I don't have any firsthand experience.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
So can you? Can you?

Speaker 1 (09:53):
And again I don't I don't want to make you sad,
but can you describe to people in Dallas Fort Worth
who are listening right now, just to explain what going
through this is like and why the help is so necessary?

Speaker 5 (10:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Absolutely it. You know, it starts slow and you don't
really notice it. You're kind of like, oh, you know
this person that i'd love for song and starting to
forget things, and you honestly think it's like kind of
funny to start off with. You're like, hey, I've told
you that maybe like five minutes ago. And then they're like, oh,

(10:26):
you know, frazzled, because you just don't really think anything of.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
It, and.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Unfortunately you want to diagnose its hits. It just it
just keeps getting worse, and memories are hard, especially at night.
It Thankfully, for me and my family, we have not
gotten to the point where he doesn't remember who we are.
He still remembers us, and every single time he sees me,

(10:52):
he says Elabella and gives me the biggest hug, and
so it's always so sweet to see him still smiling.
But it is such a devastating thing that my family
and I are going through. And my aunt Auntie Katie,
she's listening. She is a saint. She is taking care

(11:15):
of my grandma and grandpa, and my grandma is his
full time caregiver as well. So they definitely, you know,
we're going through really hard time, but they do it
with a smile on their face because we are all
so grateful for him and everything that he has done
for our family. He always says family first, and that's

(11:38):
our motto. That's our family motto. So you know, the
disease is something that is so hard, but with a
support group that you know I have and that I've
gained through the Alzheimer's Association. It's just been an incredible
opportunity of all of my friends at the Alpheimer's Association

(12:00):
have been so understanding and so helping and so caring,
and I just hope that one day someone will find
a cause or a cure for this cause.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Well I remember being your age and all I cared
about was myself, and it's pretty awesome to see you
caring about everyone else. And so God bless you and
thank you for this, and thank you for jumping on
with us, and uh, hey, we hope you guys have
a really successful night tonight.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
Thanks so much. And just you know, make sure you guys,
if you head in, just make sure you tell your
server or the person you're ordering a take out with
that you are with the Association or with pie tap
for Poppy, so we can make the biggest difference that
we can.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
All right, awesome, there she goes Ella Hicks Junior at TCU,
and this is uh pizza with a Cause or what
was it called? What was TI tap for poppy for? Yeah,
I know Pi tap for poppy, but they were called
good there. Yeah, it's amazing you and you've been there,
right I have.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
It's delicious.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Okay, No, what I was looking for was pizza with purpose.
That's exactly so. Tonight PI Tap is serving Pizza with
Purpose from four pm to ten pm. Proceeds from sales
will be shared with the Alzheimer's Association.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Again.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
PI Tap Pizza workshopping bar locations in the Design District, Henderson, Plano, Addison, Frisco,
and Fort Worth and Man, I hope that Alzheimer's doesn't
impact any of your families, but hey, this is all
the more reason to go have a delicious dinner and
support a great cause too. Thank you to La Hicks
and thank you to Pi Tap. All right, coming up next, KT,
where are you going to take us in the Hollywood Shuffle?

Speaker 4 (13:32):
Well, an SNL legend pulled off a prank that I
have to tell you about. It's incredible.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
