“If you had to choose… would you rather battle the cold or the wind?”In this episode of The Ben and Skin Show, the crew dives into hoodie season with a fiery debate about the worst weather combo known to man: cold vs. wind. Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray share their strong feelings about the elements, including Skin’s dad’s legendary quote:
“I’ll do cold, and I’ll do wind, but I won’t do cold and wind.”But the real storm brews when Skin stumbles upon a late-night gem on AXS TV: Music’s Greatest Mysteries. What starts as a casual scroll through the guide turns into a wild ride through rock-and-roll conspiracies.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ben and Skin Show ninety seven point one The Eagle.
Lots of feedback coming in on KT's story in the
first segment. If you have questions about some of the
details that we're missing, hit him up at Kevin dot
Turner at iHeartMedia dot com. But right now it's time
for this track, an other edition of things tracking. I'd

(00:22):
like to congratulate all of you on the start of
hoodie season.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah, how are we feeling out there?

Speaker 3 (00:27):
I love it. I snagged my beanie so quick this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Today sucks. It's is windy, so that's the thing. Tomorrow
is gonna be great with no win, but today is
just a howling mess.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
This was the thing that my dad said that made
a lot of sense. It really related to golf. Son.
I'll do cold and I'll do wind, but I won't
do cold and wind. If you have to pick one,
what are you picking cold?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Even when it's warm outside, I don't want wind.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Cold. Yeah, I think you're right. I think you don't.
Wind is what sucks.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I hate wind. I realized we needed to pollinate flowers.
We can't leave that all up to the bees, you know.
I realized it's part of our delicate balance at the
sweet God created so that life can sustain itself and
this earth can move.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
It's pretty smart. Yeah, there's a lot of science behind that.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Yeah, he just he created it and then let the
science unfold. But it's very important. If you got to
pick one, I think we're all in agreement. You pick cold, yeah,
because wind sucks.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
So it's funny you mentioned golf because Mike's roy got
up early to play golf this morning. What do you
know what it felt like this morning at about eight am?

Speaker 2 (01:43):
I'm assuming forty four.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
It was thirty eight.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
I believe there's a nip in the air.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
It felt like thirty eight degrees.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
A lot of nips.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
I thought we were going to do a story on jugs.
How did that thing get taken off the clock? Well
it's not important, very important, yeah, right, not everything on
the clock, you know.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
I mean, look, all right, I'm letting us story. I'm
letting a wild story from De Soto get by. Today's
get a slip through our hands? Kay? Can we do
it tomorrow with the drug story? Tomorrow? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:11):
So Ben and I still have some variation of cable,
like here's his direct TV, mine is at and t
U verse and The reason we have it is because
we like guides. We like scrolling through a guide and
jumping from channel to channel, not having to leave an
app and then go to the homepage on your smart

(02:33):
TV and then go into another app. We just like
it all compiled together the way we grew up YouTube TV,
and I love the guide function.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
It's a good function.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
I also like, I was thinking about this the other day, so,
like I was listening to The Eagle and some people
are like, well, why, you know what, I could just
go choose what songs I want to listen to.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
I like the cultivated list. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
Like in other words, I like to turn on the
guide and see what movies are on.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
Sure I could go search the movie and go find it,
but I'd like to see what's on and see if
it's something I'm in the mood for.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Especially when you're laying in bed and you don't want
to fall asleep yet. Yeah, it's the ideal time. Now,
there's also a thing where on cable and this was
really big, you know, fifteen to twenty years ago, and
it's being drained like everything else because of streaming. But man,
you had a lot of Rando channels that would have
Rando programming, and it was fun to stumble upon Rando programming.

(03:25):
It's usually got the same sort of production style, same
music bed, same graphics, all that stuff. But you guys
know what AXSTV is Access TV. Cuban sold it, I think,
but it was his for a while, and it's always
the kind of place where, oh my god, there's a
foreigner concert on. You know it's that right, But they

(03:46):
also have a bunch of ancillary programming. And last night,
so I don't know if this is what you is
your wife and the TikTok at all yoh yeah, Okay,
I know Roxy is KT's wife.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
I know for Christina Soroya's.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
So I'll get into bed and I'll turn on the
TV and she'll just be on her phone scrolling right,
and so sometimes something will happen that will grab her
attention and she'll want you to rewind it for thirty minutes.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
But last night, as I was stumbling just flipping through channels,
great music Mysteries axs TV, and so for each thirty
minute episode they take on three mysteries from the world
of music. So I stumbled upon what happened to the
bass player? For Iron Butterfly. What that's a real group. Yeah,

(04:34):
and they have a song you've heard and it got
a which you probably know is NAS sampled it on
Hip Hop is Dead, which.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
A song.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
No no, no no, can you pull it up in
there you'll know it down down't down. So anyways, I
got sucked into that because I was like, well, what
happened to this guy? And turns out that he may
have killed himself.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
He they have been murdered. I turn this up. You
never know. I'll just keep.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Everyone learns this on guitar first thing.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yeah, of course that was there.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Bass player killed somebody, he killed himself maybe, Oh, him
and his dad were working on nuclear secrets. Later when
he left the band what and he was telling people, Hey,
if I tell you I've killed myself, just no, I'm
in danger. What And then he a couple of years
later was at an airport and then disappeared, and they
found his skull and remains four years later in a

(05:32):
canyon and Malibu still never never you know.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Solved skull and remains separately.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Well, it was in his van at the bottom of
a canyon, but a skull was cut off like or
just as skeleton was there they I think just as skeleton,
but they were talking specifically the skull.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Dental records proved it was either that kind of routine.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
But anyways, here's what the next story they went to,
Here's what drugged my wife out of TikTok? Who was
Becky with the good on the Beyonce song. Oh yes,
so that's how they jump around iron Butterfly Beyonce.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
They were all over the road like that. Then they
went back to the Almond Brothers. Then they went to
Billy Squire, Then they went to Chill rob G, who
was the very first famous person I ever.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Interviewed in nineteen ninety.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Dude, I would love for you to do a show
like this, they I mean, seriously, what are we doing
in the because it's all over the road, like all
these different interesting musical nuggets.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
And then I'll come back. So you were in heaven.
It pulled my wife out of TikTok?

Speaker 2 (06:29):
How about that?

Speaker 1 (06:30):
How many episodes aired of this I don't know, but
I saw like ninety minutes of it last night. I
saw Music Mysteries the Great Music Man. I'll look it
up Music Mysteries. If you do axs music mysteries. I'm
sure you'll find the program, guiders.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
How many seasons we have to know that Music's greatest mysteries.
That's what it is, Music's greatest mysteries.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
I'm in dude.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Did you guys know that Greg Almond shot his foot
to avoid the war?

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Hell? Yeah, Dodger, are you serious?

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Yes, he wrote he drew a target on his moccas
and shot his foot so that he could get out
of going to Vietnam.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
That's like one of the murder guys. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Kat I would just like to say this, just a
note for you, some notes. When somebody's telling a story,
don't ask a bunch of questions.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
I don't Coming up next, two seasons coming up next.
What's going on in Dallas? The MAVs and the Stars
are fighting? We got the details next
