Speaker 1 (00:03):
From West Palm Beach to Tallahassee. This is Florida's news
that impacts you on the Brian Mudshew, sure enough is
Brian mud and Joel Malklin with you and Governor de
Santez talking to Fox News yesterday about the law that's
gained a lot of attention across our state and the
country for that matter, that would allow this state to
designate terrorist organizations. This something that Governor De Santis has

(00:29):
felt strongly about and often has been focused on. An
initiative against care that he brought about the Islamic organization
that has had ties to funding entities that are terror sponsors.
The governor and his executive action to do that ended

(00:50):
up having it overturned in the courts. Hence this law
that was brought about during the state session. This is
what he had to say.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
We have to identify groups that are supporting these organizations.
And it may not be that they're personally committing attacks,
but if they're funding them or providing material support, you know,
that's something that our state has got to recognize and
then act appropriately.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
And to that. You know, there are some details in
it that understandably could bring concerns I mentioned it where
you have the Forded Department of Law Enforcement that will
make the recommendations for what should be designated a terrorist organization,
but with a lot of specificity. I think this can
be very clear. Should we allow anybody in the state

(01:36):
of Florida to be able to fund organizations that fund terrorism?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
I think that's an easy answer. You should be right right, yeah,
so CARE, and that shouldn't be so.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
CARE, for example, has demonstrably contributed to entities that are
directly tied to Islamic terrorism. That is a fact, that
is an indisputable fact. Doesn't necess certainly make CARE a
terrorist organization, but it does make them an entity that
has funded Islamic terrorism. Okay, So is that something we

(02:09):
should take a look at and go, well, just because
they're funding somebody else who then funds Islamic terrorism, that's okay.
That is the argument at its core. So I think
the Governor's on point there. So we take a look
at other news from around the state. Online retailer and
Boston based company Wayfair announced plans to open its first
physical location in Florida. It's going to be a big

(02:31):
one store is planned to be a massive ninety four
thousand square foot two story store at Gallea Fort Lauderdale
with an ETA at the fourth quarter of next year.
The impasse between the teachers union and the Balm Beach
County School District continues. Superintendent Michael Birke rejected to three
and a half percent proposed pay increase for teachers in
the district. This was recently recommended by a magistrate. The

(02:53):
school district has offered a one and a half percent
pay increase with a one time one and a half
percent payout that's been read by the union. The Palm
Beach County School Board will now hold a hearing on
the matter in May.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
And Brian the Classroom Teachers Association, which is the teachers' union,
the president Gordon Longhoffer. He says the teachers are very
disappointed end quote flabbergasted. That's a word I haven't heard
in a while, but they are flabbergasted at this rejection.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
I'm flabbergasted by him. Kendra Zelner poised to win the
runoff election at North Palm Beaches Group for municipal election
of iran Alka Cheney. Zelener holds a thirty nine vote advantage.
That's the equivalent of one and a half percent. There
are a small number of vote by mail ballots you
have to be cured. Looks unlikely that there would be

(03:45):
enough to be able to trigger a runoff there, so
Kendra Zelner almost certainly will be the next council member.
We'll have heavy rain throughout the day again today, with
a floodwatch in effect for all of South Florida and
the Treasure Code floodwatches are in effect throughout the entire area.
Localized rainfall totals of up to an additional five inches

(04:06):
possible in some places here for the next twenty four hours.
Today's high yet again in the mid seventies, well below
average for this date, and we can expect rain to
continue through Thursday. Looks like it is now in the
forecast into Friday aways too, so more rain. Gas prices
They fell two cents per gallon yesterday to four to
sixteen per gallon on average day wide in the Pond Beaches,
your average price checking in at four thirty one per

(04:29):
gallon and Martin the averages four to seventeen, four eighteen
in Saint Luci and in Indian River County right there
at the state average at four sixteen.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
And you know, Brian staying stateside here, we're talking a lot,
obviously about the ceasefire with Iran. This morning, a Senator
Rick Scott as reaction, he's applauding President Trump for agreeing
to the ceasefire. He says it's excellent news and a
strong first step toward holding Iran accountable. He also says
it's what happens when you have a leader who puts

(04:59):
peace through strength over chaos and weak appeasement policies. Scott
predicts America's future will be safe and strong. Sounds like
Scott has read Art of the Art of the Deal.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Yes, most definitely, and I bet he has. It's it's
the irony that so often is projected. So you will
have people that will suggest, well, Trump is Trump is unhinged,
He's the chaotic one. He has all these things that
sound crazy that he posed, like the one that kicked
off things in the morning yesterday, about destroying a whole civilization,

(05:31):
and then he ends it by saying, God blessed that
that civilization of people. And I mean this is it's
a madman. It's the ramblings of a madman. Well could
be something altogether different, and that could be all part
of the art of the deal. Again, what only Trump
perhaps would be able to do

Kingdom of Fraud

Kingdom of Fraud

It’s the unlikeliest of criminal partnerships: a devout polygamist from an insular Utah sect joining forces with a shadowy Armenian tycoon from LA. The result - a billion dollar fraud conspiracy. In Kingdom of Fraud, investigative reporter Michele McPhee traces the origins of the extraordinary alliance between Jacob Kingston and Levon Termendzhyan. Together, the two men trigger the largest tax investigation in American history and weave around themselves a web of dirty cops, influential political relationships and transnational money laundering. All this is set against the backdrop of Jacob Kingston’s clan – The Order. A powerful and secretive polygamist organization in Salt Lake City. To whom Jacob is desperate to prove his worth.
