Speaker 1 (00:00):
Believe it or not, Florida's roads are about as good
as it gets. This is brought to you by Melissa
Nash's checkmark collections. All Right, So, when this so called
bipartisan Infrastructure Bill became law, I extensively covered why and
how it was that Florida was getting the shaft in

(00:21):
that deal. For a quick refresh, Florida counts forever six
percent of federal tax revenue and six and a half
percent of the US population. So, simply put, Florida's equitable
share of infrastructure funds is over six percent. Not complicated, right,
But what's fair for Florida and what's happened are two
entirely different things. Florida's set to only receive a poetry

(00:43):
one point six percent of the funds from the bill. Remarkably,
though predictably, news media within Florida continues to cover what
Florida's getting out of the legislation without the facts that
I've shared with you that show forever in taxes we've
paid to the federal government, we're only getting twenty four

(01:05):
cents worth of infrastructure in return. Anyway, aside from Democrat
party and leadership steering, the majority of the resources away
from states like ours and over to blue states like
New York. Justification used for some of the inequity was
based on need. Florida's infrastructure is better than the national average,

(01:25):
Thus we don't quote unquote need as much as other
states who've neglected it, as the justification went. Anyway, Well,
that's not a satisfactory answer in my book, and doesn't
excuse Florda's entire Democrat delegation from voting for something which
probably benefits constituents of other states at the literal expense

(01:47):
of their constituents. A new study has shown additional details
about how much better off our roads specifically are compared
to most. According to the findings by money Geek, Florida
ranks number four and overall road conditions, with five percent
of roads in poor condition. Florida ranked seventh in road investment,

(02:13):
with twenty nine dollars and seventy cents of capital outlay
per lane mile. In fact, Florida has as many roads
in poor condition as half I should say, half as
many roads in poor condition as the national average. So
the next time you drive over or around a pothole,

(02:34):
you can take solace in knowing that it's generally only
worse elsewhere, and with as much road construction as we
always have going on, kind of understandable that we're near
the top in road investments. So now that we're also
going to be paying for everyone else's roads the next
time that we travel outside of our state and hinted pothole,

(02:56):
now you really have legitimate beef. M
