Speaker 1 (00:00):
This third and final hour of the program begins here
on this Long Worns Monday afternoon.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Glad to have you with us.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Craig Way joined by the producer Cameron Parker, and we're
with you up until at five o'clock tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Is a Texas Tuesday, which.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Features a sound from long worn football players the Texas
part of it. Also Cam calls it a Texan Tuesday
because year from Texas musical icons and so we'll hear
some of that and probably it bears. Also we'll talk
Texas college and high school football with Greg Tepper, managing

(00:37):
editor of Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Did you see what happened to Westlake over the weekend?
I did? And speaking of.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Home game wind streaks that have been snapped about Michigan
earlier in the show and in losing streets that have
been snapped on the road like A and M. Westlake,
that's their first loss at Chappero Stadium since twenty twenty one.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, forty four game regular season win streak.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
I believe you know who beat them? Alan no Oh
Tavine twenty twenty one, No, no, yeah, who beat them?
Friday night? A Taska seas See. That's right.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
It was Houston School, who I am ready to sit
here on September sixteenth and tell you is the best
football team in the state of Texas.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah, back to back.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
They have worked Katie and Westlake back to back. Now
we'll find out more about him. They still have to
play north Shore in a district game later, and north
Shore is good and De Soto is good. They got
back on track down in the Alamo Dome when they
kind of beat Corpus Christy Miller albeit a five A program,

(01:51):
a solid one, but a five A program nevertheless, and
Duncanville beat somebody like Saint Francis of a CC. No, No,
it's St. Franc It's a Maryland, my kid. It's a
good private school program. It's one of the ones that
travels across I think to play Modern Day this week.
That's one of those private school programs have football team,

(02:12):
will travel and yeah, they go all over the country
to play IMG and they play all of those big programs.
In Duncleville hopefully have Bishop Sycamore. No, no, no, Bishop Sycamore.
I'm still waiting for the documentary on that it's come out.
I didn't see it it's okay, I'll look for that.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Then you talk about levels of delusion.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
You think Jerry Jones delusional their head football coach, GM
holy delusional. Okay, it makes you feel so bad for
those kids in fact, that he's still I mean technically
everything he did isn't elleg it's it's legal. So he's
still out there doing the same thing. But the Lord
check it out. I think it's on HBO Max. Okay,
what it's called. But you need to you need to

(02:49):
watch it.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
The Duncanville got pushed by that Saint Francis Marylandton. They
beat him twenty eight twenty four, uh, and then played
neutral site. No, they played at Duncanville on Saturday night,
and it was it was tough.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
It was a Flow Sports deal. That one was flow.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
So yeah, tough go, but they did win. But I'm
here to tell you I think here right now a
Taska seat is the best six A football team in
the state of.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Texas right now. I agree with you right now.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
So, and there were some other big time matchup. Lake
Travis did a good job, went out west out to
Midland and beat Midland Legacy handily and Liberty Hill.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Since we're talking in jump to five A. Liberty Hill
also went out to Midland. They played El Passo East Lake,
a six al Paso school, and they played them at
Midland Christian I think at their facility, and they won
that one I think forty nine thirty five, so zake

(03:59):
of a non distagram them. Congratulations to LBJ. Pretty authoritative
and win over Wimberley. Now, I do think that both
of those schools will be factors in their respective divisions
Westlake and four A D one. I think we all
knew that going in and Wimberley and for A Division two,

(04:19):
so I think we'll see them both be factors in
their respective classifications and in their division races. So anyway,
we'll talk from a state wide perspective some high school
football as well as college football with Greg Tepper, managing
editor of Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine, tomorrow on the
program as well. Like we said, we're talking about all
manners of different football longhorns today review of the NFL.

(04:42):
We didn't say too much about the Texans women, but hey,
the Texans are two.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
And up two and oh in I feel like some
Texans fans would feel like Okay, we're two and oh,
but a lot to work on offensively, kind of stalled
in the second half. But also I think Chicago Bears
have a really good defense. But the fact that the
Bears had a chance to win that game with how
great the Texas defense played against kill Williams, I think
is a little bit concerning. But it's it's still only

(05:05):
week two, but the Texans defense very impressive. I mean,
I think seven sacks on kill Williams, maybe it was five,
but they made his life miserable. I mean, he I
was worried for his safety by the fourth quarter because
he was getting hammered. I mean, there's so many missed
assignments and miss blocks where rushers were coming right at
kill Williams for free. Had but two or three turnovers

(05:28):
they picked off kill Williams. So the defense looks really
good offensively, I think some things to work on there,
But I think that maybe might just be the Bears defense,
because I mean the Bears defense, they mean they made
will Loves look awful in that Week one game against Tennessee,
and reason why they won that game was because of
their defense and special teams. But hey, two and oh,
start and if you look at the AFC South, I mean, what,

(05:50):
they're all owned six besides Houston, right, you have the
Jaguars who year three with Trevor Lawrence and Doug Peterson
and looks like they're regressing again.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
We all had a chance to beat the Browns late,
but it looked like Cleveland had locked up and then
kind of let them wriggle off the hook a little
bit to where they had the ball with a chance
to win late.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
In the game and it's still the Browns, Like you
should win that game, Tennessee. I mean, we kind of
knew they were going to struggle, but when does Will
levi Us get benched?

Speaker 2 (06:19):
And then Indianapolis?

Speaker 3 (06:21):
I think more people thought Indianapolis would be a little
bit better, but Anthony Richardson, you know, he kind of
looks like a rookie quarterback out there, still going through
developmental stuff. And then defensively, their defense just looks awful.
And they don't have a running game. Oh yeah, they don't.
They don't have anything really nothing. So if you're a
Houston Texans fan, you feel good about this division because
of how bad your opponents are. I mean, you might

(06:42):
might get the seven wins you might have this thing
locked up. So two and h start wasn't the prettiest game,
A lot of pealties. When there was like nine or
ten or eleven flags called that game, it got ridiculous
at one point. That's why in the opening segment I
said they could have just called that game in the
third quarter. I think it would have been all right.
But hey, or two and oh, all that matters.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
AFC West the best division in the AFC.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
I mean, I think about the North, but the Ravens
are rowing two, the Bengals are rowing two for the
third straight year. The Steelers are two to zero. But
how much you feel about them and the Browns. I
think the AFC West, with the Chiefs and the Chargers
and maybe a resurgent Raiders, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
I think it's still up for argument. I mean, I
think the Chargers and Chiefs obviously are looks like they're
gonna be two playoff teams. Raiders, I mean they're frisky
with Antonio Peers. I think Denver is disgusting. They're awful.
AFC's I don't know, Buffalo maybe the second best team
in the AFC, maybe the first best team. I know
they've played you know they had to win over Arizona,
but hey, Arizona looked good yesterday and then they did Miami,

(07:45):
and the unit was about Miami. But New England's looked
pretty decent so far. One and one and the Jets
bounce back victory yesterday with the North. You know, we
talked about it when when we did our NFL predictions,
we talked about how you know, seven teams make the
playoffs obviously, but usually think there's three on each side
from the year before that miss it. Hey, it might
be Baltimore this year. They're on to two now, they

(08:07):
could easily be two and O. I mean they're they're
justin Tucker field goal away from tying it against k
C and the same thing against Las Vegas yesterday. But
they do not look good at oh to two. I
think since he is okay, just because they're also a
play away from being two and oh. But they play
the Chiefs. They play the Chiefs, and they're a fourth
and sixteen stop away from being one and one. Is

(08:29):
it has been done before. It's very tough to make
the playoffs as an O and two team. But if
you're gonna give me, hey, one of these and two
teams in the AFC will make the playoffs. I think
it would be the Bengals. M okay, all right, and
who needs to win more this week? Ravens or Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Oh, I would say Baltimore. You have to because they're
going two.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Yeah, if you go oh and three, Jamar Jackson, I
mean either either team that loses just don't want first
take the next day. I'm guessing you probably aren't already
watching first take, but Steve and A.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Is gonna have a field day with you on that Monday.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
But I would say Baltimore just because of you can't
be oh and three if you're owing three at the
death sentence to meet the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Yeah, I think so. All right.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Coming up, we'll hear more from Long Worn's head coach
Steve Sarkishan. We'll talk some college football stuff as well
some numerical things for you. We'll continue here on this
Long Worns Monday on sports Radio AM thirteen under the
zone of the iHeart Radio app.
