Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thanks Mo so much for joining us. The US, of course,
includes the producer of this program, Cameron D.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Parker.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
The deal on the birth certificate stands for Dallas. He
had to have to worry about his favorite football team,
Dallas playing last night on Monday Night Football. Not that
he seems to worry much about them at all these days.
It's kind of sad he's given up caring for them
toward that end, Cameron D. Parker, Cameron Dallas Parker. I

(00:28):
have an item that you're really going to appreciate and inconceivable,
but because it involves none other and the man you well,
if you don't admire hm, at least you follow him
so much. That would be Jerry Jones. Is it his
eating habits? No? No, not to eat it? Why But
did I miss something? Yeah? He was asked about one

(00:51):
of the Cowboys or Panthers. I think he's the Panther receiver.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Former South Carolina guy Leguet was asked about eating raccoon,
and Jerry said, I eat raccoon, yes, Alex squirrel, yes,
So I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
That could go in. Well, he is the Maarkansas, that's true. True. No,
this is.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Something else and I think he'll actually appreciate this and
it really does belong an inconceivable, So that'll be coming up.
But coming up in a few minutes, however, we'll talk
about more meaningful football. The Clemson Tigers, the opponent for
the Texas Longhorns on Saturday afternoon at Daryl K. Royal
Texas Memorial Stadium, and the head coach of the Tigers,

(01:32):
Dad Oksweeney, has talked a lot about the different nature
of this game and all that. We're going to get
the feel of that from the play by play voice
of the Tigers, Don Munson. He'll join us coming up
in a few minutes to talk about this Clemson Texas matchup,
first time ever for these two programs to meet on
the football field in what should be from all indications,

(01:56):
good weather on Saturday. I'm hearing mid sixties, like maybe
sixty five and sunny. It's pretty dog gone good for
you know, going on late December. To have that so
and so and four days before Christmas to have sunny
skies and about sixty five degrees for a football game,

(02:16):
I'm sure both teams will be happy about that.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Cameron's pretty fired up, you know.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
He'll be with me tonight as we bring you Texas
women's basketball on one O three point one FM, Austin's
SAD station. Kathy Arsenale joined me for the call, and
Cameron our engineer and our studio host if you will,
or on site broadcast host if you there's there's several
of the programs radio networks across the country. North Carolina

(02:46):
is one of those where they have the play by
play guy Jones, Angel the analyst, and then they have
an engineer, and then they have what's called the broadcast host,
and the broadcast host updates the other games and that
are going on and stuff like that and keeps everybody
up up to speed at halftime.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
So Cam, we'll be doing that tonight.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
But what I started to say is what he's also
going to be keeping up with is the Emirates NBA
Cup because you're fired up about your Oklahoma City thunder
taking on the Milwaukee Bucks tonight.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Yeah, the NBA Cup.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
I know that's an accolade that I'm sure every every
casual NBA fan really cares about it.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Besides that, I'm excited for this game.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
A Bucks team that was pronounced dead by the week
into the season, they're back alive. Giannis is back alive.
He likes Milwaukee guys. I hate to say it for
Laker fans or Knicks fans or whoever is trying to
talk to themselves into a Yiannis trade. Maybe even the
Brooklyn Nets as well. I don't think they really have
fans though. But it's fun for OKC. I mean, this
is my Western Conference pick. I have Celtics in OKC

(03:49):
and the finals will be fun to see how they
match up against the Bucks in this game.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
So I'm looking forward to it December basketball.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
And also I think this is a statement game for
OKC because on Christmas Day, and when I grew up
watching the NBA, Christmas Day.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
That's an NBA tradition was owned by the NBA.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Now the NFL is taken over and looking at the
games on Christmas Day that was usually would feature the
best teams or the biggest stars. And I think OKAC
is considered a best team considering they were the one
seed this past season and currently lead the Western Conference.
They also have shay Gilgess Alexander who was an MVP
candidate last season and could be up there as a

(04:28):
front runner for this season. But inexplicably, Craig way on
December twenty fifth, a day that features some of the
biggest and brightest stars and the best teams in the NBA,
the OKAC Thunder are not playing on Christmas Day. Instead,
you have the eight and sixteen Philadelphia seventy six ers,

(04:49):
who probably will not have Joel Embiid while he recovers
from a sinus fracture and a bruised ego. And then
you have the fourteen and twelve Los Angeles Lakers, and
you also have a thirteen and thirteen Spurs team.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
I understand they have web in Yama.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
So if you're gonna have Wemby and the Spurs playing
Christmas Day, why don't you have the best team in
the Western Conference playing? So I think it's the OKAC
team that is young. They know about the league and
how they don't do a great job of marketing the
younger teams and the smaller markets. I think tonight is
a statement game for OKAC, knowing they will not be
playing next Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
You know the answer to the question. Why are you
even posing the question unless you're doing it rhetorically. You
know as to why the Thunder would not be.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
On They used to when Kadie and Russ played on
Christmas Day. They're always on the Thunder. Choose me they
would play on Christmas Day. So I just don't see it.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
I don't understand they don't see Oklahoma City as drawing
television sets well.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
For a league that is losing ratings and you're trying
to develop stars and players and teams and get people
interested in the league that is going to be without
Lebron James and Steph Curry and Katie in three or
four years, you need to market the younger guys and
the younger teams who are going to be playing into
June for most of the next decade.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Okay See is part of that.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Heck, I would even argue, why is it Houston on
Christmas Day? Why isn't okay See in Houston another game
on this Christmas Day? It blows my mind. The NBA
is failing Oklahoma City Thunder all right, But but go
with me on this and you know the answer.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Why.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
First of all, the Knicks always play on Sure, New
York market understand that well. And the Knicks always play
on Christmas Day like the Cowboys do on Thanksgiving. The
Knicks play every year on Christmas. Now ABC is happy
to have them because they're in New York and the
New York market, so they're playing San Antonio, Minnesota, Dallas.
Dallas is marketable with Luca and they can do that.
And even Minnesota it's somewhat market.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
But isn't that that's also a smaller market. Dallas isn't
so Minnesota is. Yeah, but it's at Dallas though. That's
the case why I can't, okay, see play at Dallas. Yeah,
that's I'll give you that.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Philadelphia, Boston, it's East Coast, that's TV sets, as at
Golden State, that's Lakers, Leronry and then Denver and Phoenix,
while not big markets, have big marketable names, and Denver
is a recent champion. Those are the reasons I'm just
telling you. Those are the reasons. I don't agree with them,
but those are the reasons NBA should realize. Yeah, they
should have set up Oklahoma City to play like maybe

(07:19):
the Lakers or or Dallas or somebody else, to have
a good Christmas Day game so that folks could see
the thunder.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Even Memphis, Memphis team that is second in the Western Conference.
John Morrat, Now maybe Adam Silver is afraid that John
Mourrat was going to shoot up somebody on Christmas Day.
But the league again is just it's completely failing. You
have yeah, let's see, from the Western Conference, you have
three of the four current playing teams playing on Christmas Day.
You have a team not in the playoffs. Actually, you
have two teams not in the playoffs currently also play

(07:48):
on Christmas Day. So you have five teams out of
what ten teams on Christmas Day, we're either in the
playing game or out of the playoffs all together, and
they're playing on you quote, your biggest day of the year,
absolute travesty by Adam Silver, because they draw.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
The biggest ratings, plain and simple, and the rates are
the lowest of all time right now.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Yeah, yeah, So they're trying to bullster them with this,
but I agree with you.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
They should have.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
They should have had Oklahoma City in one of these
games playing set them up against the Lakers or against
the Celtics or whoever. You know that that's where I
think they should do it, if they're going to go
for that. All right, coming up, we talk college football
this Texas Clemson matchup. Don Nunson, the play by play
voice of the Clemson Tigers, joins us next here on
