Speaker 1 (00:04):
Give us your takes.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
There's a lot of headlines to get to, like Iceman,
for instance, Oh.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Yeah, seriously, Caleb Williams, shut up, I mean, shut up,
kleb Win that we got the Tiger Woods driving stuff.
Speaker 4 (00:15):
We got a lot of March masks. We be watching
these games. I've been watching them.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
I was surprised yesterday with Purdue kind of laying flat.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
I know, because they dominated the first half.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
I was surprised because I thought Arizona's gonna go rough
shot and.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Was an eight point lead at half time. It was,
It was an eight point lead at half time.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
And then Arizona went wildcat in the second half. But
Sewan Elliott's happy, Oh you know he is. You know,
he was real happy. Carter Bryant's happy. All these you know,
our buddy, our buddy tie up in Washington's gonna be
happy today because I think Michigan's gonna dog walk Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yeah, yeah, no, no pun intended, right.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Realize, I don't get a lot of those college mascots
that have nothing to do with what the mascot is. Well,
because sooner as your mascot a horse that makes some
sense because of the scooter, but what is a dog?
Speaker 4 (00:59):
What is the dog? Have to do?
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Volunteers because they're volunteers and they would go hunting. Okay,
do mesk this with Arizona? They're the wildcats. Why do
they say bear down? Dude?
Speaker 1 (01:08):
I don't even want to get into that.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Yeah, haven't we talked about that?
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Like, Hey, Sean, if you're listening, I.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Would love to call in, call in, give us a call,
or come to studio or come into the studio.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
It's fine. You know, I really want to know this
whole bear down.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Thing because I'm like, you all are wildcats, but there's
a bear. Speaking of wildcats real quick before we get
to your sounds of Saturday, Yeah, shout out to the
Soto Mayor Varsity girls soccer club.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Tuesday was their last game.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
They were eliminated from the high school playoffs and a
hard fought one oh loss. They they gave up a
goal in the last three minute shot, you know, and
so there was actually an emotional moment for me as
that was my daughter's last ever game to play for them.
She started with them. They of course Soda Mayor started
(01:57):
four years ago. Yeah, she was a freshman on the
varsity team. Because all the freshmen got to you know,
B varsity, and they built that program up furthest they've
ever been by district champions. So proud of them, proud
of the season that they had, especially hard for me.
Just kind of see twenty four out there, you know.
(02:19):
And what was great about is Shane, is that my
brother showed up. Well, my brother showed up and both
of us like so Cliff, my oldest right, my oldest brother,
nineteen eighty seven state champion, Cliff of the Alamal Heights Mules,
I wore twenty four. Well, when I got into high school,
I honored him and I wore twenty four.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Right.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
I was eleven for a long time in club joined
high school, went to twenty four, was number twenty four,
and then my daughter took on twenty four for soccer, okay,
and then also my youngest daughter takes on twenty four
for the high school team.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
So twenty four kind of is the Emery number.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yes, that makes sense because my brother when he was
when he played football, he wore eighty two when he
was first team All State, which was the first time,
and at that time Florence High School, which is where
he went to he played ball, he was their first
ever All State player, and he wore eighty two, And
so throughout little league and throughout middle school, I wore
eighty two because I also.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
Want to play defensive end and tight end.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
And then I got to high school and realized I
am not fast enough to play tight end. Yeah, so
I switched to sixty six and I played guard.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
And what was great is that before the end of
the season, we all got to write them notes. Right, yeah,
we all wrote notes, And of course I did the
dad note, you know, proud you at your age. But
my oldest brother I got a chance to read his.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
To my daughter.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Hey, sorry it took a little bit there, but he
kind of emphasized that she was the best twenty four
and then the way he signed it, the way he
signed it was og twenty four.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
That's actually really you know.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
So, but unfortunately their season comes to an end. But
what's fun is yesterday I was talking to her. I
was like, hey, you know, my friend Rocky, he's got
this soccer league. Maybe during the summer we can sign
up and we can play together. She said, yeah, So
me and her are gonna attempt to play nice soccer
at least one more time.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Speaking of the Wildcats before we get started down another
Wildcats a segue.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Shout out to the Temple Wildcats.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Their baseball team took on the Clean Kangaroos a couple
of days ago. I think it was back on Friday,
and they won forty one to one. That is a
real score by twelve baseball. Yeah, where I looked into this,
Apparently you have to play through five innings.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Forty one to one.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah, in five innings, get your you don't play baseball,
you shut it down.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Kangaroos shut it down.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Shout out to Temple Baseball for an absolute belt to
ask game.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
But how do you look at the.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Other opponent and shake their hand and say good game?
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Well, one team does it like sarcastically. The other one
does it like just let's just get.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
This over with forty one to one.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
I can't say how many times I got my ass
up in liter League baseball.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
We sucked. You don't have forty one runs in baseball.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
I didn't know the scoreboard went that high ambage.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Did they fire the coach in the middle of the game.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
I didn't look into deep as to what happened there,
but I think.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
You know what we need to do our research.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
We need to track down the Kangaroo's coach and have
them on.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
The show, like we need to talk.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
I didn't what the hell?
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Right?
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yeah? The hell was that? Anyways? All right? So is
it time? Is it time?
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Are you ready for my fanatics? Sound effect? Ladies and gentlemen,
boys and girls, grab yourself and get around on the
radio or the iHeartRadio app or Facebook.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
It is time now for Shanes of Shanes Sounds of Saturday.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Yeah. I think you messed them up with That's okay,
I did coffee. I am gonna have a work on
an effect. I felt like this.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
I think you say too, because I think I need
to fire myself like the Kangaroo's manager should.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
I think?
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Also, this first sound is an honor of you. As
a matter of fact, remember last week we talked about
the brand Aubrey contract about whether we pay a kicker.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
What's the Actually.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
History was made yesterday, Dylan, Oh yeah, yesterday? Oh the
UFL what debuted? Okay, and Matt Crane, the kicker for
the Washington Defenders, made history on their sixty yard attempt.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Take a listen to this for.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Crane got it up. They scored for.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
The defenders take a four nothing lead on.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
The league's first sixty yard field goal for four points.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
For those that are familiar, the UFL changed the rules
this shear that any field goal sixty yards or more
is four points, which means four and nothing.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
That one is an ugly scoring football.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
It's fine in baseball, hockey, soccer, I should it depends
on which side of that you're on. But in football,
you know, like American football, that's an ugly score. But
that was the first football that was the first four
point field goal make in league history.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
And Jerry signed him, didn't he?
Speaker 4 (06:56):
On Jerry was there?
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Wasn't he hey, hey, hey, hey, this guy's going to
be cheap, let's sign him. Sign hey, NFL four pointers.
I like that, you know what. I like that because
we talked about it last week. We talked about how
a sixty yarder now is almost the nore. Right, Let's
be honest, we say a fifty yarder is a chip shot.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
I don't know if it's a chip shot, but it's
definitely more.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
It's more than a chip shot, right, because the UTSA
backup kicker.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
That was against nobody, though I don't care.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
That was seventy yards and here's the thing that dude
could chase down that ball after he kicked it.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
I want to know if I go catch it.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
I am what.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
I was impressed that you were in a sub five
forty as a kicker. I haven't seen that. That's what
I want to press preface with his next sound, Scott
van Pella is a national treasure.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
Yes, I lovet my idol.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
He is my idol.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
He has no filter, which I love. But sometimes you
let no hair, sometimes you let loose a little more
than you're welcome. Before I play this sound, Dylan, are
you familiar with the website browsers?
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Browsers?
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Yeah? Yes, are you really yes? Well?
Speaker 4 (08:02):
So is he listening to this?
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Got to be the thing? No big trick?
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Come on, come on again?
Speaker 3 (08:11):
What is that?
Speaker 1 (08:12):
It's real?
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Is that on brassers?
Speaker 4 (08:15):
I just what's that?
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Even?
Speaker 1 (08:17):
I don't know? I heard thing Internet? So the cameraman knows.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
Apparently he's trying to brush it off.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
So that was on to That was earlier this week
after after the March Madness Slate and they and they
were like he was trying to guess which gen z
Lingo was, like the name of an actual TV show
and he had guessed like the Furries whenever, that whatever
that show was.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
But yeah, so apparently that that's a real show.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
And he also let luc yeah, I'm also familiar with
other websites as well.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
That's you can't let loose a little too much.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Man.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
You know we should let we we should send this
clip to him and say, congratulations, you made local radio
and that shows fun though at the end of it
it is Hey, I love.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Watching those guys. At the end of it, you know
it's great.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
All right, So this next one, I'll let him pick.
Would you rather hear a hot mic or would you
rather hear a Wimby take?
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Can I go hot Mic first? Then Wimby? Absolutely sweet,
let's go hot Mike.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
So let's go to the ice.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Our friend Sam Freeze would love me for this, because boy,
the Dallas Stars took on the Boston Bruins and Eric Carlson,
Eric Carlson, sorry of the Bostons, was not very happy
that he got his stick knocking out knocked out of
his hands, and the play continued.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Listen to this.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Shoot where's the shoots? He scares?
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Well, you heard what Carlson was saying.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
I mean he has a case sports, you.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Hollow the over in this animated in this spot. Yeah,
that's the thing. That's the thing about.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Hockey hot mics is that they will just come like
pretty much at any point because they're so close to
the eyes.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
And they did not that in Boston.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
That yeah, that was in Boston, ladies, gentlemen, that was
an actual hockey match.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
That's not just walking down the street.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
That's that's honestly what it sounds like to walking down
the street there. But no, you're right, and the thing
is about ice. It just echoes right. What I love
about the commentators, Oh he's hot right there. I totally
agree with him, like they're trying to cover it up
because it's like when he lost his you know what,
that's when.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
I'm sorry, it's not buy some Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh sorry
my same thing, steel City. Yeah, they're just they're just mean.
But Dallas won that game six and three, by the way,
so it didn't matter that he didn't matter.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
I love the whole you piece.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Come on, I need to save that beat from whenever
we have something to say.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
You should, you should and so can we get to
the wind bey?
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Take this we can? This one is by way of
our of our friend Michelle Beatle.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
On her show, she had on Isaiah Thomas, someone who
knows a lot about MVP basketball, and he gave his
opinion on who the true m vps have been this.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
Year to me, and all the things on the criteria
we use, and in terms of the MVP, right, we
always look at, okay, who's most valuable to their team
and we say, if we take this guy away, where
would the team be? Right? And it's never been who's
the Best Player Award? It's always been who's the most
(11:18):
valuable to their team? And to me, right now, there's
only two guys that you can really say it's the
most valuable to their team this year and in terms
of where they are now, and that's Winby and Jalen Brown.
To me, it's a two man race. And I know
SGA has done this thing and they went in and everything,
but they loaded, I mean they loaded, loaded, loaded, They
loaded for this year and next year and the year after.
(11:40):
When Tatum went down, we thought for sure like the
Celtics would be in a lottery. And then Jalen Brown
averaging thirty and if you take Winby away from San Antonio,
I mean, how good are they? Right, they're good, but
they're not championship caliber good the way we talking about
him right now. So it's to me, it's a it's
(12:03):
a two man race. That's not to you know, talk
about anything else, talk about degrading anyone else's year. But
I think in terms of MVP, who's been the most
valuable to their team to leave us Jalen Brown.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
And when he's got a point, it's a very good point.
And you know what, I actually like his argument on
Jaylen Brown. Yeah, because that's exactly what I said in
the first segment. You know, we all thought Boston's in
the lottery, they're getting draft picks. You know, Jaylen Brown
keeps him consistent, the coaching keeps them consistent.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Yeah, and then here comes Tatum.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
You can guarantee you that if if Boston was going down, right,
if they weren't even where they are now, Tatum would
have set out the whole year.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Yeah, there's no there's no point of bringing them in.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
But now they're a legit contender, and now they're probably
the favorite in the East, to be honest with you,
especially with the k Cunham injury, and for some reason
the Knicks can't beat the East teams, but they can
beat the Spurs.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
I don't get that they can beat the West teams,
but at.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
That, but I was. I listen to that, and it
made a lot of sense.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
I was listening to not through my like like spurs
lent like he headphones, not lenses, headphones.
Speaker 4 (13:06):
Yeah, and it was objectively.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
If you say this, I believe and you and you
and I talked about Wemby is the most viable player
in the court on both ends of the court. But
we also have to look at who's the most viable
player to their team. Where would they be without them?
And I think Jaylen Brown is more valuable in terms
of where they be without him to the Celtics than
the Spurs, because I think the Spurs are deeper, but
the Spurs are also a playoff team without Wimby.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
They're a championship contender with him.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
And it makes me think too, what Jalen Brown said
about Wimby a while back. You know, Jaylen Brown calls
himself the best two way player.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
He calls Wimby the best two way player that's out
of this world.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
He's a freak, you know, And that's true.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
It's I and you take it as a compliment, you know,
But when it comes down to it, I think that
I think the media, and I think the guys that vote.
We look at the oohs and oz, right, we look
at Sga. Oh, look at him, you know, look, oh
he's great. But Isaiah said it best. They're loaded, loaded, loaded.
But what's cool is that when they're loaded, we still
(14:04):
own them. I said it, Yeah, you said it.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
In honor of Winby.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
I'm gonna go with that, that cockiness, right, because it's
like because they do own it. And what I want is,
you know, I was thinking about this again. I'm gonna
open up the phone lines to you guys. Two one
zero seven three six nine seven sixty. I want your
MVP argument. I don't care if you.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Like it is.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Yeah, if you like Sga, tell us why if you
like Wimby, tell us why if you like Jalen Brown,
tell us why if you like Jeremy so Hand, tell.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Us, like, give us your MVP and just give us
it in and out.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
That's all I want. I want to hear it. I
want if you want to argue with me, we can argue.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
It's fine. They would argue with me if you want
to argue with Shane. Argue with Shane.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Sometimes I argue for no reason.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
But keep it clean.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Don't come in and be like, hey, I get to
say about it, like yeah, because remember you're on the delay.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
We're talking in the future right now. You just now
heard us.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
But coming up next that which sounds a Saturday by
the way, right, Yes, that it that was it. Coming
up next, we're gonna jump back into I don't know
what do you want to jump back into.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
Let's talk, Let's talk. Let's talk some more NBA. I
got something on my chest.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Yeah, let's get some NBA bouncing around here on the
Fanatics on ticket seven sixty
