Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome into the fanatic second hour underway. I am your host,
Dylan Emory, along with Shane Carter and along.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
With you as well.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Two one zero seven, three six nine seven sixty as
we get into a little bit of a pigskin.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Talk from all around the NFL.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
And if you haven't heard it, the official watch party
is going on at walk On's April twenty third, seven
pm to eleven pm. He'll meet your favorite ticket seven
sixty personality, or we'll come and talk crap to us,
or come and talk with your favorite team, or you know,
bring what you want, because look, April twenty third is
about hopes and dreams and everything else.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
And speaking of hopes and dreams.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Now, I'm so hopeful right nineteen ninety five of the
downscoll because I just see a picture of Jerry Jones
on the computer right now, I'm like, oh, I'm sad.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Hey, so I am.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
This makes me sad.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
It's okay, let me let me, let me ease your
mind a little bit more.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Hold on before we get to cowboy talk. Okay, I
always said this, and we need to go back on
the tape. Fernando Mendoza, he looks like who Kirk Cousins.
And who did the Raiders sign Kirk Cousins twins.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
E's we got twins. He's in raider Land.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
This is kind of like how we have lefties in Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, we got twins.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
He's in Raiderland. I like that sign, by the way,
for the Raiders. I think that's that's Kurt needed to
get out of Atlanta. That was a severe nightmare for him,
and I'm sure his wife wanted him out of Atlanta
as well.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
But I mean, it's not even better. You're going to Vegas.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
But the thing is is that I think that that's
a smart move by the Raiders. And to say smart
and Raiders in the same sentence, Ask my friend Michael Flores,
that's pretty odd to do because he's a longtime Raiders fan.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
A couple of good smart moves this offseason. They have Linderbaum.
The new center is definitely probably the best one.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Yeah, And that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
So anyways, I just want to we got the we
got the Kirk Cousin twins. You know, that's that's gonna
be fun to watch in the Raider lane.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
You don't want to call him the cousins now.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Because you know, they're both gonna like and it's gonna
drive them nuts.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Everybody, it's gonna drive them nuts.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
If I if I'm in the media out there, it's
driving me nuts. It's driving me absolutely nuts, because I'm
telling you right now, Mendoza's gonna be nothing but complimentary
towards Kurt, and Kurt's gonna be nothing but complimentary towards
mendozo'na be.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Boring, and it's gonna be like, oh my god.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Brett Farvear Aaron Rodgers drama was more like Tom.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Brady's gonna have to come in and be like, Yo, hey,
you're competing.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Can we do that? Can we stop complimenting.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Each other talk about each other's mama or something like that.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yeah, I got you, speaking of talking about each other's
Mama's suck a little. Dallas Cowboys, okay, Shane, Yeah, eas
my mind that the Cowboys are actually not gonna suck
this year.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
So I can't guarantee they won't suck.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
What I can say is that I think there's a
high likelihood that one of these six elite defensive draft
prospects is gonna fall to twelve. And a lot of
people are saying, how's that possible because the Cowboys are
picking twelve.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Why in the world, but they get six?
Speaker 4 (03:00):
They traded, they trade ahead, Dylan, What if I told
you that history in math is kind of on the
Cowboys side, and I know you don't.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Like that's the only thing that's been on their side.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
So let me let me let me tell you why
they're among the six elite defensive draft prospects here, and
here's who they are. It's r Bel Reeves from Ohio State.
It's Sunny Styles linebacker Ohio State, Caleb downs Stay to
Ohio State, Monsor to Lane cornerback, Lsu Ruben main defensive
end from Miami, and.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Then David Bailey, the edge rusher from Texas Tech.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
Now, the likelihood is that the Jets are likely going
to take either R Bell Reese or David Bailey with
the second pick, and if the Cardinals don't go offensive line,
they're taking the other defensive end. Dylan, the percentage of Sorry,
let me let me read this even further. I think
the next defensive player that comes off the board after
those guys are taken is actually monster to land In
the cornerback, even though some people would think that he's
(03:50):
actually not the best among the six.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
And the reason is.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
Is that draft value favors cornerbacks over safeties and linebackers.
That's why there is a higher margin of cornerbacks taken
as opposed to linebackers and and and safeties because because
the NFL doesn't value the position the same way. That's
why you don't see many running backs going first round,
inside linebackers going first round, and safety is going first round.
So right away you're thinking, Okay, RVL Reese going you understand,
(04:17):
Mendoz are going number one, that's fine. Monster de Lane
is probably gonna go top five. I wouldn't be surprised
he goes to the Giants Monsorter de Lane and the
Giants feels like kind of not a lock, but kind
of close to a lock as I can see.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
So one of the latest mock drafts puts them there.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
So you're probably asking, well, what's wrong with what's wrong
with Sunny Styles, what's wrong with Caleb Downs?
Speaker 3 (04:34):
What's wrong with Ruben Bain? The biggest issues with rubyen.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Bain are this, not a lot of people love his
interviews and a lot of people love his love his
arm length. He has short arms, and I know we're
getting we're picked. We're getting nitty and gritty. But like
a lot of a lot of gms, they will not
pick defensive ends with sub thirty two inch arm length.
I think he measured at thirty one and whatever. People
on line call him t Rex essentially because he's so
(04:57):
big and strong with short arm wings style.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
He's a powerful guy.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
You saw the championship game against against against Indiana. He
was he was freaking havoc.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
He was.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
He's a really good player, but he's considered one of
the elite players. There's a very good possible but he
could follow that. He could follow the Cowboys as twelve.
Some people think he could actually have a ah who's
the defensiveman from the Rams that fell all the way
two years ago? I forgot his name, but he he
was supposed to go top five and he fell. And
that's happens every year. Players fall in the draft. Let's
talk about Caleb Downs and Sonny Styles for a second.
(05:26):
There's no godly reason why those two should fall, but
they could because inside linebackers are seen as replaceable. They're
seen as players you can get in the second and
third round to have the same value as first round picks.
Even though some people think Sonny Styles is quote unquote
a specimen six four two forty, ran as fast as
some of the cornerbacks, plays well in coverage. But again
(05:46):
he plays middle linebacker, which some people think is a
niche like easily recyclable position.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Yeah, and so some people think that's why he would fall.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Well, people are saying late again one of the other
mock drafts, I see him. He's going pick number four
to the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
I could, I could definitely say that because the coach,
Robert Sala, he wants his Fred Warner and that would
definitely be a Fred Warner type.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Anybody six foot five is sexy to anybody. As a
general manager, especially at that position. Six foot five, you're
gonna get your arms up. You know, you could see it. Look,
here's my thing, and I get all everything that's gonna
happen up top right. But here in San Antonio, I
(06:29):
don't care. I care about Dallas. I care about what
they're going to do. Have you seen the cbssports dot
com I've played in mock draft.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
If it's the one I'm thinking of, it has what
Jermal McCoy, right, No, who does it have?
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Dylan Dylan Thieneman, yep, I don't like that at twelve.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
That's what they have him as.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
You know, I don't like hy you know, I like
that at twelve.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Huh.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
I don't think he's worth a twelve pick.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Hey, he ran a four point three five forty second
yard day just names.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
I don't care about that.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
I really could win a championship.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
I don't care about Here's why I don't care about
forty time doing. When you're a safety, you should not
be running in a straight line.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Forty one inch vertical jump.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
You should be you should be knowing how to backpedal
and shift around.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Dylan Thieneman is a guy who I saw, like play
really good against my tex Red Raiders when they shut
us out. He's a guy who I think can play
well against last Screamer. He's a guy I think could
play well, I think in that box safety role. I
don't think though, he's worth the pick at twelve because
I think, honestly, I think Kile Down is going.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
To be there.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
So let me ask you this, because I just saw
his size. Yeah, six foot that's fine.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
That's average really against these receivers nowadays, that's.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Not that this is the height of the safety doesn't
matter to I don't care. I don't care about it.
I don't care about the height of the cornerback. I
don't It doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
We have these quarterbacks high arc it over these guys.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
I've seen a lot of really good cornerbacks be six
to two and be really bad. I've seen a lot
of better cornerbacks be five ten, five nine and be
really good in coverage.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
It's not always the height.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
A lot of times, it's just how good you are
when you're stuck on a guy.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Oh okay, okay, Dallas go on defense.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
That's exactly what we're doing here.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
I think, I think we have all agreed not even
to disagree. And if you want to disagree with us
right now, call us. Give us your Dallas take on
their drafting on who they should. I know you're out there.
It's okay, you can call us. Step out of the pew,
come down into the breakroom, change the diaper for the baby.
Two one zero seven, three, six, nine, seven sixty. Let
us know your draft talk and what you want to
(08:28):
see these cowboys do. Because look, a lot of you
guys will sit here and tell us you know they suck.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
They did this.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
They do that's so, and I guess why, because hey,
I know why they suck, right, Shane knows why they suck,
you know, And that's the thing is like, And my
thing is is, I swear, Shane, if they touch the
offense during this, If they touch the offense during this,
I'm going.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
To lose it.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
I will literally rip my Cowboys jersey in half and
I will wear a Texans jersey the rest of my life.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
You're going, I am that tired jump. You're jumping teams
more than a Kardashian.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
My man, that's fine. I don't care because it's been
since ninety five.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
You're covering teams like Diana Russini.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Like, I'm sorry, but Jerry needs to get it right
before he dies.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Too dark No, I mean I think we all we
all think the same thing, speak you know. So you're fine, Shane.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
So who should Dallas?
Speaker 1 (09:23):
I trust you on this whole draft knowledge because I
consider you the rain man of the draft, because I
think every five minutes you were thinking constant draft.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
I'm thinking about a lot of stuff. But who should
Dallas pick in that first slot?
Speaker 4 (09:38):
If he's there? Kill Downs needs to be the pick,
and let me tell you why. Okay, he is not
just a pure safety. He is a safety that can
play single high free. He can play in the box,
similar to what we saw with guys like Donald Wilson.
He can use the guy and playing the slot. He
can cover guys in the slot. Okay, some guy who
can play the run. He is about as perfect a
safety that to do all this stuff that you need
(09:59):
him to do. The issue that hurts him his size
is average. He's like six foot two oh five maybe
five eleven something like that. So the size won't wow you.
His play will. So you're saying Caleb, I say, Caleb downs,
He's okay pick. So let me ask you this, okay,
because this is these are reports, all right, as of
an hour ago? Yeah, as of one hour ago, because
you said Caleb. And guess who's in that spot right
(10:22):
now on CBS's mock draft, Kansas City Chiefs at nine.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Okay, to take Caleb.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Guess what's now up on the board a mock trade
for the Cowboys with the Chiefs. Are you buying or
selling this? Because you are so emphatic and you are
a cowboy guy, and you are a draft guy and
you're like, hey, if he's.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Available at twelve, take him.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
It doesn't sound like he's gonna be available, but it
sounds like you might have an inside ear, and it
sounds like this should happen now, because now do you
play with the devil in Kansas City and trade.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Up for this?
Speaker 3 (10:57):
I think so.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
I think if the other five defensive players that we've
talked about are gone, I think you have to because
in between the Chiefs and the Cowboys is the Bengals
and Dolphins, who both also had really bad defense. The
Dolphins are going into a rebuild. The Bengals are similar
the Cowboys. They had a really good offense and almost
no defense. They lost a lot of best players. I
(11:19):
am okay trading ahead to number nine with Kansas City
because likely what it would cost you is that third
round pick you got from the Niners, and that would
probably be about it.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
So, according to the NFL Draft Trade value Chart, the
Chiefs number nine selection is worth one.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Three hundred and fifty points.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Okay, well, the Cowboys number twelve pick is worth twelve
hundred points. Dallas tossing in its third round pick, oh,
which is one hundred and thirty two points.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Should get the job done.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Okay, Now, if not a late Day three pick would
suffice on top.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Of the third rounder.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Now, the other.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Potential trade that could happen, but less likely, you could
see the Dallas Cowboys in chief swap both round picks
where Dallas would land number nine and number twenty nine
in Kansas City, you now would get twelve and twenty.
That's the less likely scenario, But the first scenario that's
probably going to happen.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
Wait wait, wait, so so the Chiefs give the Cowboys
nine and twenty nine and the Cowboys give the Chiefs
twelve and twenty.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Yeah, I would do that all day, fair swap. I
would do that all day.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Now they're saying that that's the least likely scenario. I
think so too, you know. But at the same time,
it's like, okay, so cause again, guys, if you're not
listening to Shane, if you're not following Shane, if you're
not seeing any of his draft n for you, you're
missing it because you're absolutely missing it because what he
just said right there tells you everything that Dallas is doing.
(12:39):
And we just see an out article out on si
dot com for the Dallas Cowboys on a mock trade
to the Kansas City Chiefs, because he's saying Caleb. Caleb's
sitting there in a mock draft at number nine. So
you don't think that the management is seeing what they
need to do. The Dallas Cowboys need to get into
the top ten. The Dallas Cowboys start getting in the
top ten, now, guess what they get to do. Now
they get to start flirting. Now they start to get
(13:01):
better options on a pick. And you know their first
pick is going to mean more than their second pick.
So if you trade and you get the ninth and
twenty ninth, cool, you got the night.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
You got a top ten pick.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
And here's the thing about getting a top ten player
in the NFL, they better.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Perform, and they should perform.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
We've had top ten picks come in play and put
the star on the side of their helmet and give
all out. And guess what you're getting that on the offense.
Now it's start trying to get it on the defense.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
And maybe and they have not had the same success
rate on first round picks defensively as now they have offensively.
All other bus have been like Taco Charlton Morris, Claiborne
Mazzi Smith. It's all been defensive guys. By the way,
my brother Andrew texted me and thank you for reminding me.
The defensive man that I that from the Rams that
fell was Jared Verse. He's not. He's not the same
players as a Ruben Bain. But have some people think
(13:48):
that Rubbank could fall just because of the arm length,
which to me is very random and arbitrary.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Reason have a good player fall that far you could?
I mean, Dallas Cowboys just need to do better, period.
And I love these other stations by the way that
just just kiss their butt. We don't do that here.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
We call it like it is. Can't afford to kiss them, eh.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
And you know I will always gladly take Jerry Jones
on a call. I will, but I guarantee you'll hang
up and block me because I speak for the fans.
That's what I do on this show. That's why we're
called the fanatics. The Dallas Cowboys better not screw up
this draft, and so you can make sure that you
catch us over April twenty third, over at walk Ons
(14:29):
from seven pm to eleven pm.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
We will be.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
There for four hours or so. It was up to
Shaney'd be there for twelve hours, but.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
We'll be there, well might I might be there early setting.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Come by, say hi, talk about your Raiders, talk about
your Rams, talk about the potential that you could always
win the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Let's you're a Bears fan. You just don't do that,
all right? So coming up next? What do you want
to get into next?
Speaker 3 (14:52):
I think we need to get I think we need
to talk about some more NBA.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
The big thing people talk about sixty five game rule,
how it's affecting these all NBA teams.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Let's talk about this sixty five game rule because you
know why, it's about to be a family fight here
on the Fanatics on ticket seven sixty
