Hey everyone, It's Dylan Emory, host of the Fanatics every

to sixty to the ticket. Enjoyed this podcast version of
the Fanatics right here on Sports Radio AM seven sixty
the Ticket.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Anybody can be a fan supper.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Good for Victor Weinman Yama.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
These guys are fanatics and you say has opened up
on Free sportly.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
This is the Fanatics.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Welcome into the Fanatics. I am your host, Dylan, everybdy
along with Shane Carter. Sorry for the little late start, well,
technical issues on this Sunday fun day. I'll be getting
you through here is It's kind of weird because a
problem with the radio air like anything. I can't really
hear Shane, but I know that he can hear me,
so that's the good part.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Right, Oh you can't hear me read lips. But welcome
into it.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
Big day to day.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
For your San Antonio Spurs as we get ready for
the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
I am excited.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
It's been sixty year in the making since San Antonio
actually has been in the playoffs. And the table is set,
the playoff bracket is arrived, and the Portland Trailblazers have
drawn the first stick of this puzzle for the San
Antonio Spurs. Now, the San Antonio Spurs and the Trailblazers
both are young squads, both are you would say, inexperienced
(01:22):
in this. But no better way to get your feet
wet than play the Trailblazers in the first round tonight.
And I gotta say this couple things that I'm gonna
be part of, right, I'm part of the Spurs playoff countdown.
I'm part of the Spurs playoff, you know everything. As
we get ready to go for the Spurs, I will
actually be at the Frost Bank Center tonight. I will
(01:43):
be in the Agave Club up there broadcasting for the
Spurs countdown show. And I will also be there for
the Spurs post up show all home games if I'm
not out and about in the San Antonio area, I
will be at the Frost Bank Center setting up.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
And then of course you know we're gonna be ready.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
And I don't know if you saw this yesterday or not,
but the Spurs released a video of all the seats
with the coloring of the Fiesta Court. So the Fiesta
Court colors are in the seats with shirts. So Spurs fans,
if you're going tonight, please wear the shirt.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
I'm asking you because.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
If we're done with in somebody said it here on Facebook.
You know, the Big Three era is officially done. The
Area fifty one era has officially begun at the Frost
Bank Center, and I couldn't agree more.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
So that means the.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Old Big three fan era is done, right, the new
fans era is starting with us being so intimidating at home.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
It's scary those Fiesta colors.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
If we're able to pull this off tonight, it's going
to be unbelievable to see that on TV and it's
gonna be awesome.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
And I think that that's what we need to do
with this, with this Spurs squad.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
We need to show them how much heart we have,
as much as they put in this season sixty two
wins season man like.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
And it was weird last week, Shane, because.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
I was off for like a whole week. I was
off for one whole week. I was like, what do
I do? What do I do?
Speaker 1 (03:10):
You know?
Speaker 4 (03:11):
So again, the Spurs play.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
The Blazers tonight, it's an eight o'clock tip, I means
I'm on air at seven o'clock over there on WOAI,
Will I have swag or anything with me? No, but
just come by and say hi. I might even put
you on the radio. I don't know, I might do it.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Why not?
Speaker 1 (03:27):
But I can tell you this tonight during post up,
guess who I'm gonna have as a guest.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Carl Shoning and Dan Weiss are gonna be joining me.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
You know, when I'm at the Frost Bank Center, they said, man,
we'd love to come over there and talk post with you,
And so I'm looking forward to that. Frankie a roast
goes on here, he's saying playoff time. Cletto Rodriguez in
here saying let's go Spurs. I couldn't agree more. I
think Cletto might like a little later in the show.
I've got some Houston Texans news that he probably is
gonna be happy about because he is the Texan guru.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
I guess of this.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
So but it's the Spurs, it's the Blazers. So what
are we looking at? What kind of matchup is there?
Speaker 2 (04:06):
You know?
Speaker 1 (04:06):
And I, you know, I don't want to sit here
and say, oh, it's gonna be easy.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Oh, let's get the brooms out. Let's do this.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Let's do that, right, because I still say and I
know that this will fire up the Spurs squad already. Yes,
this is a new era, this is a new dimension,
this is playoff basketball. But the other day, yesterday, I
believe Pop Coach Pop was actually out at the practice
facility and he actually talked to Steph Castle, and Steph
(04:34):
Castle was asked, Hey, what did coach Pop tell you?
And he said, don't change what we've been doing, you know.
And that's that's the key point. Because you've done sixty
two wins. You're not barely into the playoffs where you
have to change what you're doing.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
The Spurs don't need to do that.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
The Spurs need to do what they've been doing off season,
and that's just going out there playing the game that
they know how to play and taking over the game
when they need to. Now, it's important for the Spurs
tonight to put their foot down early, get up by
fifteen to twenty, and don't let Portland get back into it.
You know, there's one guy on their team, Danny. I'll
(05:13):
go with Danny. Everybody knows what I'm talking about. Danny
a via a via via Did I say right, advia
a via Avia. Okay, see, but here's the thing. The
guy averages twenty four point two points a game. Winby
averages twenty five.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Right.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
But as a team, what I like about us is
our offensive rating. Our points per game is one hundred
nineteen point nine. They're at one hundred and fifteen point five.
But when I look at the defensive rating, we're at
one hundred and eleven point five and they're at one
hundred and fifteen point eight. Look, the Spurs are gonna
go on a run tonight. It's a game of runs
in the first game. And I would tell you that
(05:50):
this squad is gonna come out hyped. And I think
that Arena is just gonna be loud. I'm looking forward
to it. I want it to be loud. I want
to be able to just kind of enjoy this atmosphere.
It's kind of like we haven't seen it for a while.
And because I was sitting there on the couch yesterday
and I was like, man, last year at this time,
(06:10):
I was just at home watching these games.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
You know, come tomorrow, I'm gonna be there.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
And be part of it.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
And the city's back into it, and it's fiesta and
it's the Spurs and I love it. And right now
I think downtown they're having a Spurs pep rally. I
saw Spurs big homie out there and he was you know,
he was out there with the crowd, and of course
he got drum lines.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
But yeah, and.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Ty, Hey, Ty's sujic. How about this, he puts in
a comment.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Hey, he says Dylan was right about this draft class
deep playoff run ahead. Thank you far too kind, Ty,
far too kind, you know. Joseph Imannen says, hope the
arena will be packed tonight.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
Oh, it's going to be packed. I just want.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Everybody wearing the shirts because I'll tell you, I'll look
in the upper deck and.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
They'll be wearing them, you know, the lower bowl. I'm
not calling you, yeah, I'm.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Not gonna call you out yet because it has been
a different atmosphere. I will tell you that it has
been a different atmosphere. But these guys need you Winby
has put the Jackals together. You know, the Jackals will
be wearing their shirts that are on their seats. Everybody
should be chanting go to the Jackals social media. The'm
sure they have their game chance ready to go. We
(07:21):
need to hear eighteen thousand people drown out the Trailblazers
tonight because I can tell you this, what the Trailblazers
have for them is in their head coach, Thiago Splitter.
Thiago's been there with the San Antonio Spurs. Thiago's won
a championship with the San Antonio Spurs. Thiago knows what
it takes to win playoff games. In fact, Portlin, after
(07:42):
their original head coach Bill Ups got arrested.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Man, they should have been done.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Thiago, he had them hang on and get into the
play in tournament and beat Phoenix to get that seventh seed.
And so you've got to give Thiago Splitter credit for
keeping these guys in the running. And look, Trailblazers come
with some some punches. Man, they're coming with the draft class,
They're coming with you know, the the what is it?
(08:08):
The no, We're just gonna do what we're gonna do.
They don't if they if they win, it's a shocker.
If they lose, it's not a shocker. Right, They're supposed
to lose his playoff series. That's what makes a team
scary in the playoffs. You have to get sixteen wins
in order to raise that Larry O'Brien Trophy. And it
starts tonight with the Frost Bank Center. So without further ado,
(08:28):
since we kind of stalled there a little bit, it
is now time for Shane's Sounds of Saturday.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Here comes my sound effect.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
You ready, because that's what we had for a little
bit when we started.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
But here you.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Got Shane Sobs on Saturday.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
Yeah, thanks for that anyway, So we're gonna start here
at home in San Antonio. On the other so the
other day Andy had on his show, he had like
four segments dedicated to the supposed eventual death of Live Golf.
If you watch this this station at all, or sorry,
listen to the station at all, then you know how
much Andy and even Dylan to a degree despise Live.
I don't what you only you have, not like Second's
(09:01):
praises what else? You kind of talk negative about a
lot of things. Actually, don't. You're kind of negative. It's okay,
it's okay, it's okay. You know you know what I
did for Andy though, So he had one segment that
was kind of you know, so anyone who looks works
in radio knows like the bottom of the at the
bottom of the hour segment, or sorry, top of the
hour segment is always how much time do we have?
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Three minutes? Let's throw it away.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
He had about three minutes to spare and he won,
and he had a he had a story going back
to his time at the gym and the issue with
the guy at the gym is there's this guy at
this machine and we've all been there. This guy wouldn't
get off. He was just on his phone the entire time.
So I decided to say, Hey, Andy, coming in, I
want you to try something. So we're not listening the
whole thing, but listen to this Dylan and Uh, I'm
going to like kind of walk you through exactly what
(09:39):
what Andy's doing. This is going on. We have a
segment and of a show called Set It Off, and
essentially me and Dylan unload our beefs and sports or
whatever it is, and it's to a backdrop. So I
think for you, Andy, I would love if you wouldn't
mind sending it off.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
At this point, Andy is a big smile across his face.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
I would like to perform kind of.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Sounds good to me. I'm uh, And he's over there
bobbing his head so all.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Right, I tend to go to my gym at least
once a week.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
I go to a trainer a couple and you can't
see this, but he has a big smile. He's lived
the popping along to this.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
The aging is the aggressive pursuit of comfort. Mind that
I've talked about. Yeah, I got things to do and
I need about thirty.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
And we want to listen the entirely five minute clip.
But like essentially what it was. The guy at the
gym was on the machine. He wouldn't get off his phone.
We've all been there. But what I loved about it
was and he was usually you, not both of them.
He's very like, very to the point about stuff. He
was very much into doing this. He was bobbing his head.
He was kind of and he will he will deny.
He's like, no, I was sitting still, like no. He
was like he was bobbing his head along along to it.
He was into this kind of thing, and I told
(10:47):
him it's therapeutic, isn't it. That's why I said, That's
why I set off as a lot of people's favorite segment,
just because like sometimes they're like.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Yeah, trust me, I got it for today.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
All right.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
So I wanted to revisit something we talked about last
week a little bit. So you remember the Diana Russini
Mike Vrabel saga. Yeah, so Jared Stillman host over at
Sirius XM Radio. He apparently had insider information that to
pertain to where the pictures came from and the motivation
behind it.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Take a listen to this.
Speaker 6 (11:14):
I talked to a source close to Diana. That's how
I will label this source. And the source close to
Diana told me that they this is the source believes
it was a private investigator that took the photos of
Diana and Vrabel, and they the source believes that without question,
(11:35):
the PI was hired by Diana's husband. Again, I talked
to a source close to Diana, and the source close
to Diana told me, and it's what they. I'm not
saying Diana believes this or Diana told the sword. I'm
just telling you. This is a source close to Diana
and I was told it was a PI and it
was the husband. And apparently the source close to Diana
(11:58):
told me that the husband has a bunch of money
and this is not about money because he has plenty
of it. So the source close to Diana tells me
that it was a PI. It wasn't some Johnny hotel
visitor with his phone out.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
It was a PI.
Speaker 6 (12:13):
And they believe the source that the PI was hired
by Diana's husband. And the source tells me that Diana's
husband doesn't need the money in a divorce because he's
already loaded.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
So this is about more than money. You seem skeptical
of that he's got money.
Speaker 7 (12:30):
But say the source, like I'm tired of that. You
were a reporter for You can't always give the source.
You can't, Yes, you you can. Their job is on
the line. That's that's not true. There are sources that
are protected for many reasons. You know, there are many
sources that are protected for many reasons, and there's usually
good reasons why. But they have to get their information.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
Out anyway, say the source. No, don't always say the source,
especially the source.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Kids. Not if their lives on the line. No, absolutely not.
But let's go back to the NBA for a second quickly.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
Inside the n B A love It, our Boy, our Boys,
Shack Charles, all them sponsored by McDonald's and apparently Ice Spice.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
How about that by McDonald's chucks here.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
They got some slappy happy meals over there.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
I don't even know, but you see Ice Ice Spice
got slapped doing at McDonald's in the mill of night,
Ice SPI excuse to go, thank you McDonald's.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
I love McDonald's.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
I love McDonald Fish flat is the greatest sandwich out.
Shaquille O'Neill, love me. Some nuggets can be in that
little barbecue sauce. Charles off the fish to fish flats
and last pip.
Speaker 6 (13:48):
But I washed it down with ade cocause I was
watching my calories.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Let's move on. You were watching your Yeah, you're right,
please stop Georgia tech rockets. You walk home? Want to
because he's a rambling wreck. I like it very solid.
(14:19):
Should have.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
They take nothing seriously on that show?
Speaker 3 (14:25):
You know.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
McDonald's was like, well this was a good idea.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
I mean, come on, like, you need to save that
bit where Shack says happy slappy.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
Oh, I definitely do. That's a good point.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
No, I saw that last night, Like I saw like
they were coming everyone talking about it.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Yeah, they were.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Coming back, and I could see the mcdonald'sim booms and
I'm like, of course McDonald's is sponsoring these guys and
then Charles you know, and what I love about Charles
is he always makes fun of the San Antonio women here.
I'm like, boy, you talking about how you eat two
fish filets of large fries and a diet coke.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Boy stop. I love Charles Barker. I hope to see
those guys here this post so we.
Speaker 5 (15:03):
See more of them because like ever since they went
over to ESPN, you barely see them.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
A good friend of the show, Joseph Iiman, has actually
had drinks with Charles Barkley this week.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
He was actually there with Charles Barkley having a I
saw the photo, got the proof, Shane, It's all there.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
I saw too. Yeah. I was like, hey, uh tell him.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
The fanatics need him on the show, just saying I
love that group. I'm glad that I know that they
signed off from T and T, but I'm glad that
ESPN picked him up because it just never like ESPN
was very smart in doing that.
Speaker 5 (15:32):
Anyway, It's like, maybe smart if they were using I mean,
I have two more, but we don't have time for that.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
So it's fine.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
So that'd be a today's edition of Sounds of Set.
We're already behind because of technical clappy happy
Speaker 1 (15:41):
So when we come back, we're gonna get more slappy
happy about the NBA playoffs or on the fanatics Sun
