Speaker 1 (00:02):
Look a bit of the fanatics. Second hour underway.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I am your host, dealing every long with Shant Carter
as we get you ready for your Sunday Day fun day,
a Spurs for yesterday, a Spurs playoff day, a playoff
basketball atmosphere in the great city of San Antonio. We
will get back more into that in the next segment ahead.
But as you heard, on this Thursday, the Draft for

(00:26):
the NFL, the futures will change, careers will change, money
will be signed, a lot of money for some little
money for those and then we'll all remember the last
pick of the NFL Draft. We will be there for
all of the first round this Thursday, starting at seven o'clock.
I'm going to try to get there a little early
and set it up as best as I can, as

(00:48):
fast as I can, because maybe we can, you know,
get going offline before we're online, if that makes sense
to you, guys. But come on out to walk on
this Thursday, come join us, you can come talk to
us about the NFL Draft. We will be there, myself,
Shane and Sam. Yep, we will be there for this

(01:11):
extravaganza as we will overanalyze and do everything for this
NFL Draft. But to be told, the NFL Draft is,
of course this Thursday. Number one is already on the
board pretty much for Nanda Mendoza. Yep, But nobody cares
about that in San Antonio. We all care about the
Dallas Cowboys. But before we get to the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
The Texans.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
They did do that Will Anderson reach a three year,
one hundred and fifty million dollar extension.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Ah, you like that, Shane or Is that a good
thing for the Texas?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
So it's a good thing because what it does is
it tacks onto their current rookie contract, which means his
cap hits over the next three years are going to
be exponentially lower.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
So it's it's smart to get that out of the way.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Now, if you're a team who's about to sign a
defensive player, you don't love that because he's now the
highest paid non quarterback at a fifty million dollar year
at Now there's six defensive ends or I guess edge
rushers who are making forty million dollars plus. The Texans,
by the way, owned two of them. With the Neil
Hunter he also makes forty million dollars plus, so it's
good business. It also means that the that if you

(02:13):
were the Cowboys and you had hopes that you could
have signed Michael Parsons before the trade went down, which
I'll address here in a little bit.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Also with another trade that happened yesterday, that.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
The likelihood was you were gonna have to pay Micah
north of forty five million dollars anyway. So if you're
someone who's trying to be frugal and realizing that they
I am dealing, in my opinion, you only pay these
type of players if you're inside a championship window.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I don't think.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
I don't think you can afford to pay those players
that I've kind of I've learned over time. You can't
afford to pay all pro players unless you don't think
that you're about to enter or you're in the middle
of a window like this. I think you pay players
long term contracts like this for team building purposes, like
you have to pay the quarterback, you pay the offensive lineman,
and you can pay the defensive lineman if if you

(02:57):
believe you're about to be in that tip goal three
to five year window. But the Cowboys I think realized
they weren't there yet. I think objectively they realized they
weren't there yet. I think it made a lot of sense.
The Texans, I think they're very much I think at
the very least they have two years left on their
current window, because I still have questions about c. J.

(03:18):
Stroud's consistency. I know, the issues have sometimes been on
the offensive line. There's been issues with the health of
his weapons. There's been issues with the inconsistenies of the
other running game. But Dylan, he had the best They
had the best defense in the league last year.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
They did, and you know, Anderson was part of that.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
And I think that, you know, for the Houston Texans,
they're always going to be number two until they actually
win a Super Bowl around here. I mean, let's be honest,
you know, and and now's the time in Houston to
run that table.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
I mean, we yes, Kansas City.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
You know, everybody could say, oh, they were off last year,
and you know they're gonna be.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
Back, and Mahomes got hurt and blah blah blah, Mahlmes
got hurt.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
This is this was their chance to get somebody else out,
you know. And Houston's always face that Houston should have won.
In New England, they should have won. But guess what happened.
C J Stroud, That's what happened. CJ Stroud got them eliminated.
I do want it in Texans fans. You can sit
there and hate me all you want to, but that's
the facts.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Have you thought about it.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
If the game was in Houston, that changes if that
changed anything, because that the weather didn't play a factor
in that the similar.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
To the AC championship gap.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
They dominated in New England. Yes, and that the problem
was is CJ. Stroud was an issue. You know, Texans
fans like to make fun of Dak Prescott, but man,
out of the two quarterbacks, give me Dak.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Dak's been more consistent.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yeah, give me Dak. I don't want c J. Stroud.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
And if I'm a Texans fan, it's like, okay, well,
we're signing all these guys for you, getting ready for you.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
What excuse are.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
You gonna have if CJ goes off and throws three
more interceptions in one game?

Speaker 3 (04:46):
And I wonder with that, And the Texans already picked
up his fifth year options, so they had that fifty
year old rookie deal. I do wonder though, are they
having maybe like seeing the way he performs in the playoffs.
Do they think that maybe they've already seen him at
his apex? And that's that's the worry, because you don't
want these quarterbacks to middle out because right now Stroud

(05:07):
is what the twelfth thirteenth best quarterback in the NFL,
right something somewhere around that is.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
He entering his fourth season now, yes, okay, four season,
he's still there.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
He's still the hope.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
He's no good.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
He's still good now. He does get you know, knocked
out pretty good. But I mean there's a lot of
pressure on him, you know, especially after the taste that
was left in Texans fans' mouths after that New England game.
I mean, they're gonna want to have a clean start
with this kid, you know. And I think that he
is just gonna be judged every game because Houston's gone

(05:43):
off and they've look, Houston's defense is solid, bro solid, Like,
I will give them that, But their offense, God, that's
like my daughter driving down four to ten.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Hang on tight, hang on tight, because something going on.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
She drives.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
I'm not gonna tell you what she drives.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
You don't have to tell me that the plate numbers.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
She drives a pickup truck. So I mean just me. Yeah,
you know CJ.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Stroud in that offense, be careful because one minute it
could be hot, they could score forty.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Or the next minute they gave up three turnovers.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
I don't. You don't love when you're starting quarterback.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Even though he all played fourteen games, I know he
missed in time, right, He barely He barely passed three
thousand yards.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
He didn't throw twenty touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
And I understand that guys like Nico Collins had was
out of the lineup a little bit. There was some
guy there was an issue with drops, I know, like
the Texans had some of the highest drop rates in
the NFL or something like that.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
I get all those aspects.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
But how many times last year, Dylan, did we see
the Texans defense was winning in the games. They beat
the Broncos, they beat the Niners because of the defense.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Yeah, first in their I believe it was their wild
card game. Same thing, a defense showed up.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
It was on the road, and it's very rare it happens.
But it's very rare that a defense can carry you
to a championship. We saw with the Ravens, I know,
the Ravens, the Bucks, the Bears. That's three instances of
it happening. The majority of the time it happens is
because you have either a complete team or elite quarterback.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yeah, And I think the Ravens two Super Bowls are
because of their defense period.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Ray Lewis days, you know.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
And then then that second one that they had because
Flacco was their quarterback in the second one and it.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Was so solid.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
What was who was it in the first one?

Speaker 4 (07:17):
Oh? Uh, Trent Delpher, Yeah, dil for Trent Duffer.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Yeah, dude. Their offense sucked.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Yeah, that was terrible, you know, but Flacco was way better. Hey.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
At the same time, if you steam can say that
our defense is going to take us to a championship,
why not?

Speaker 4 (07:29):
You know?

Speaker 3 (07:29):
But talking throw assets into that now the thing everyone's
talking about today in the NFL and and it affects everybody.
Dexter Lawrence, all Pro, no tackle so traded to the
Bengals for number ten overall. The Giants now have two
top ten picks for the second time in four years.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Well, look who the Giants have as their coach, John
Harbaugh exactly.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
The Giants actually have a leader.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Now.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
The Giants have not had a great coach in forever.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
I think he might have topped out.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Look, man it look this is for Giants fan, and
I know you're there. They have not had the coaching
that needs to be done. Because here's my problem. Okay,
you ready for it, Daniel Jones. Right, everybody in New
York was like, man, this guy sucks, goes to the

(08:17):
Colts and has a tremendous year.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
But that tells you what sucked in New York, and
that was the coaching. Duh, you know.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
And now you've got guys that are running this front office.
They're trying to put the Giants back in the NFC East,
which they should.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
The Giants have always been there.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
It's always the commanders that are always out and about
right the NFC East. It's not just gonna run through
Philly or Dallas anymore. New York's on that radar. They
have a Super Bowl winning coach. So I like what
the Giants did. I like it, Shane.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
I know it makes sense for them, and for the
Bengals that kind of too. Here's the issue, though, is
that he's twenty nine. I don't know how often the
twenty nine year old nose tackle as good as he
is goes for a first round pick. Does that also
kind of tell you and I and this is for
anybody who wants to answer this, by the way, does
that kind of make you question the Cowboys didn't get
enough in the trade for Michael Parsons because he got

(09:15):
they got to first and and Kenny Clark. Kny Clark's
a good player, but you only got two first for
a twenty four to twenty five year old Michael Parsons.
Does that mean that, essentially, did you think the Cowboys
got fleeced in that?

Speaker 4 (09:27):
I've thought about that more and more. I thought about
that more and more.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
I think Jerry was just done with Micah. I think
he was just done with the attitude. I think he
was done with all that stuff. And I mean, that's
that's gonna be front office calls right there of what
you're doing. And you know, I do I think that
the Cowboys got shafted.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Oh yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
That's why green Bay little bit.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Yeah, that's why green Bay was like, yeah, sure, absolutely,
let's go, let's do it. You know what I mean,
Like on this one, you're right, twenty nine year old
nose tackle off ten pick?

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Yeah, And now the Giants they there is a world, Dylan,
and this scares me that the Cowboys that they really
want hypothetically, if they want either Caleb Downs, the safety
from Ohio State or his teammates Sonny Styles, the linebacker,
there's a world now that the Giants could take them both.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
With the Cowboys even sniff twelve.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Or the Giants are a pick five and pick ten,
five and ten.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yeah, you know, and you really got to kind of
look at that because, Okay, if I'm Jerry at.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Some point, who could I talk to? It's Draft week, Shane,
let me throw it out there.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Who could I talk to to get in either in
between the Giants two picks U or in front? Because
you know that, Yeah, Las Vegas is not taking anybody.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
The Jets are stupid.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Enough to do it because it's the Jets or is
it the Cardinals or are the Titans or these four
right before the Giants first pick?

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Is that something that Jerry could do with what we have.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
I think they have the ammo to move ahead or
to move maybe to maybe the Cleveland at six, Okay,
because I don't think the Jets the Cardinals do want
to move out of their pick. But the Cowboys don't
have enough to go from twelfth to three. That costs
a lot, and I think they want to give up
both their first round picks this year if they could,

(11:21):
they would rather just get rid of one to move
up and then maybe an extra pick in day two.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Well, to me, the two dumbest organizations as far as
front office that Jerry could take care of is Cleveland
and New Orleans.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
I as a bad front office.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Lewis is terrible. The general manager there is terrible.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
He's absolutely that's that's fair. I mean, I like the
I like to I like the I think the coach
and staff.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Coaching staff's great, so, but it's the front office that
makes all these calls. And I think that Jerry, you know,
could probably call Cleveland or or New Orleans and say, hey,
I've got this, I've got this, I need this pick
because if the Cowboys to do anything to where they're
scared at this point, Shane like you're kind of like,
hey man, the Giants have pick five and pick ten. Cool,

(12:07):
because then we don't know there's three picks. There's three
top ten picks in the NFC East before we even picked.
Think that's true, That's okay.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
I will be I'm washing, it's probably gonna go washing.
It is probably gonna go offense.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Well, yeah, they need to.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
I think I think it's pretty much pencil. Then they're
going receiver.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
But I hope Giants at least us offense on one
of those picks.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Giants. Giants are playing chess this morning. Hey, Jerry, look
what we just did. Because you know Jerry, Jerry likes
to make a good deal. Boys started off in oil.
You know, he's gonna he's a business guy. Could they
get in front of them at five? I don't think so.
I think the Jets are stuck in there at number two.
The Cardinals are gonna be a three because look, the

(12:47):
Cardinals need something right, you know. And the last thing
before we kind of go to break here, Shane, I
know that you know the Cowboys and everything else like that.
But does Ty Simpson go in the top five or
top ten?

Speaker 1 (13:02):
No? You don't think so?

Speaker 3 (13:04):
No?

Speaker 2 (13:04):
I think can I say that just because of the
Arizona Cardinals?

Speaker 3 (13:07):
I know, I think the highest that Ty Simpson goes,
and this is not a mock, this is like the
highest for possibility would be the Jets of sixteen. I
think I think the highest he goes in the middle
of the first round. I don't think he's a first
round quarterback. I think I think he's an option that
maybe a team like the Cardinals would trade back into
the first round to get. I think he's a player

(13:29):
that the Steelers if they decide that they want to
draft a quarterback, He's a guy they get a twenty one.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
He is not a first round quarterback.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
But I think the highest he would go as it
stands today, yeah, is the Jets of sixteen.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
He is not going to the Cardinals at three.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
What is the cards with Brissett?

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Right with Brissett and Gardner Minshoe.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
The only reason why I say that is because he
was not at the off season program.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
We're set.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
I'm just saying, I know, but I mean, I'm just saying.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
And Brissett's also ticked off that he wants more money
also because he's penciled in. Is the started this year
regardless of they draft, because right now there's no there's
no quarterback they can draft that I think that I.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
Think would be better than Brest.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
And even if you want him to play bridge and
if you if you're someone who knows like I'm basically teaching.
I'm basically I'm basically coaching my replacement. Then yeah, I
give you more money. I get that all the way.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Kirk Cousins exactly. Yeah, pay me more money. I know
you're gonna draft my replacement. Pay me more money. Any
business that you go into, whatever it is you do
for work, if you're training, if you're training the guy
that you know eventually is going to replace you and
you and you, and you don't want to have that, like, Okay,
pay me more. I'm not doing this for free. I'm
not doing this for my normal rate. No, no, no,
no no.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
So for those of you you know, this Thursday, we
will be over at walk Ons, come join us. We'll
be out there, uh, talking, draft, doing everything, eating some
good food over at walk Ons. If you've never been

you know, the service there is fast, it's quick.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
You know, you guys, come in.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
We'll be there partying, not partying, but you know, we'll
be talking and we'll talk to you guys because I'll
be honest with you. There's gonna be some segments that
I'm just gonna give to Shane here. Have fun, you know,
because sometimes I feel like I'm a game show host.
Uh you know, but no, no, because that'll be a
workday for me. So no, I won't be yesterday I was,

(15:23):
but you know it'll be fun. So come join us
at walk Ons. We go on air at seven. Of
course we'll be there beforehand. I think Sam is gonna
come flying over there right after the show. Yeah, so
come join us again. It's over all walk On. Do you
hear about it?

Speaker 1 (15:39):

because I'm just gonna tell you. We'll put it in
your mapps.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
Open and walk on.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
So coming up next, we're gonna get back into some
more sports doings, you know from the basketball because a
lot of you guys, you know you're worried.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
About the Spurs.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Call me two one zero seven, three six nine seven sixty.
We'll talk about it more to come on the Fanatics
on tickets.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
I'm sixty
