super regionals. I believe Texas Tech is playing Florida today yep,
and then Oklahoma is playing Mississippi State and Texas is
having a doozy with Arizona State barely winning last night
as I saw, you know, so.

We'll see and those are some Those.

Are three strong teams for the College Women's World Series.
You know, I can't imagine if Texas and Oh You
don't make it. You know, Texas Tech you said last
week that they're having kind of like a miracle run
this year, which is great for them, you know, but
again they they're facing elimination as well as Oh You
and Texas. So we'll talk about that in the second

hour when the sandlot time. But again tonight, the focus
in San Antonio is game number four tonight after Game
three did not go our way at home on Friday
as a Spurs fall on Friday to the Oklahoma City Thunder,
and that was a game of mental battleship in my opinion,
it was a tough one. You know this the Spurs

lose at one twenty three to one oh eight. Tonight,
they get to do it again. It's a seven o'clock
tip off. We'll have Spurs countdown at six o'clock. I
will be live from the Frost Bank Center at the
Agave Club.

as well, so it's an interesting series.

We were pretty confident going into this whole Western Conference Finals.
What's your confidence level now that we're facing you know,
we're down to one, we're at home, this is this
is a must win tonight, So how are you feeling
about it?
Speaker 3 (02:37):
My confidence has shifted a lot, and it's not really
necessarily just on the play of the team, because objectively,
if we go beyond just the ref issues, we go
beyond you know, the foul issues. I don't want to
get into that too much, but if we look at
like the defaults of the team itself, they have not
been able to cover the three very well. They have
not covered the pick and roll very well. They have

not handled the physicality response very well. So and even
though despite all that there are down two to one,
objectively you could be three. Oh you could also be
oer to three.

My confidencelf you give me like a scale of one
to ten is about a six. And the majority that
is probably just because they have the home court advantas
and Spurs don't lose back to backs at homes and again,
they don't lose a lot of back to backs at all.

They've lost a couple I think five times back to back.
There's never been a three game lose a streak in
this season, no.

And when that's the key right there.

And this would be the worst time for that to happen. Yes.

What I do like though in this game is that,
if nothing else, we did see the report, both Den
Harper and Iaron Fox are both expected to play. That
helps you out because we've seen what the team looks
like without good point guard depth. By the way, this
goes back about a year ago where people complain about
the Del Harper pick. Why are we drafting another guard?
This is why in today's NBA you need deep back course.
That is the way teams are formulating their teams is
(03:57):
around four to five guys that can play the one, two,
and sometimes the three if you stretch it out that far.
Spurs are one of those teams, with Vasel being a
two to three type of player. You need those, You
need that type of depth, and unfortunately in this series,
they've gone up and it's a team that I think
has has displayed more quality depth and the Spurs depth
has actually.

Yeah, and you know, coming out of OKC today, already
ruled out for the game AJ Mitchell, and a lot
of people say it's Aj Mitchell. This guy's been a problem.
He's been one of the factors. And the other thing, too,
San is the bench play right. Our starters are are
keeping us in these games, but when it comes down
to getting into the bench, they haven't shown up. You know,

to be honest with you, because again, would you get
out on the defending NBA champions up fifteen to OHO
at home, You're thinking, all right, cruise control the rest
of the game. There's no way right right that you
can erase a fifteen points in Oklahoma, erase that within
the end of the first quarter.

And we would hope, you would hope that you can
see a lot more than one because you have this
X Man of the Year and Keldon Johnson. But in
this entire playoffs, we can go back to the trouble
at this series. He's been an offensive factor in about
five games. Defensively, he's shown I guess some solid ability
has also been a liability when he drives the basket.
He's been a liability on some of those offensive rebound
attempts if we look at him objectively. Your best bench player,
(05:18):
and this is not a good thing, has been dying, Harper.
You do not want your your rookie guard to be
your best bench player. You want it to be either
your backup post you wanted to be a wing player.
You want it to be a primary defender. There are
sometimes that Carter Bryant's been your best bench player because
he's had to play the four and the five whatever.

Luke Cornette has been a liability, which is also an issue.

And so there's a reason why their primary five guys
are playing extended minutes is because they have to because
Mitch Johnson, especially when you get late in the third
and then throughout the fourth quarter, you can't trust those guys.

They have shown it.

Right and a lot of guys and I don't know
if your dms are getting hit up mine or getting
hit up after these games. And the first thing that
comes to mind, and people have done the talk back
with this is they want to go to the officiating. Shane,
I don't I'm not a guy that's going to blame
the rest, right, I get it, right, But and I
get that fans are like, hey, it's not being called

either or I'll be honest with you, Shane that game
on Friday. When I'm watching this game just right in
front of me, you're able to kind of look at
certain plays off of the camera, if that makes sense.
So I was keeping my eye on Hartenstein, right, I
was seeing him how he comes down the back court
and what he does any hairpools.

The Jackals by the way, because Hartenstein was doing shoot
around and the Jackals were saying, you know, you can't
pull you. They called him hair puller, Yeah, you pull

Does the NBA need to look at changing this rule?

you're gonna have these flops. SGA is gonna flop. That's
what he does. That's how he sells his stuff, right,

That's how he's the back to back MVP, you know,
not because of the flopping, but because of the scoring
and what he can do for OKAC.

Because I'll be honest with.

You, guys, when SGA is not playing for OKC, OKAC
is a different team. They're not a team that's gonna
be consistent. Because even during that fifteen to oh run,
OKC was pulling everybody but SGA.

They kept that SGA out on the floor. Let's be
honest here. SJ has not been the best player of
this series. No, he's been double teams he's been, and
the refs aren't.

And I'll be honest with you Spurs fans, I want
to complain about the reffing. They're not calling it as
much on him in the first half. You know, as
we get later it would win. But again, I think
the Spurs beat themselves on Friday.

And really, if you want to talk about the refs objectively,
they were way worse in game two than they were
in Game three. Game three, at least it felt like
they were calling some of some of the BS stuff
that they missed in in that first game. But the
real issue here, Dylan, is that the killer of this
series has been Alex Caruso. If that has been the
player that that hasn't been the player that has beat

you on both ends of the court. It hasn't been SGA,
who honestly sucked in the in the first half of
the first game a lot of his shots.

He the other day he had twenty six points. Twelve
those points came with the free throw line.

Because you expect that Chaed Holmgren has been kind of
an afterthought of this series.

You've had bench contribution from guys like from Jalen Williams
and the A J. Mitchell who won't wh won't play
its night's game.

But Alex Caruso has been the most consistent player offensive
and defensely. But you've had a had to cover it
because he's been annoying on defense and every single time
they set up a pick and roll or an off
ball screen for a spot of three, he's made him.
And you'll have had no response because you see the
guys out there, they're they're yon at Carter Brant, they're
yelling at Julian Champagne, They'reyona Kelton Johnson, get to your
guy on the switch. And how many times have we

seen that? Have we seen an open switch play and
they have a wide open three attempt and it.

Yeah, Vicelle was one of those guys screaming when Carter

the quarter one. After quarter one, that energy was gone
you were at fifteen and nothing to start the game right,
lights out, everything right. And it was funny because I

actually guess who I ran into. Trevor Knight, former Ou quarterback,
former Texas A and M quarterback. He's there doing here,
He's so I guess he's around this area, to be
honest with you, because his wife is from here. I
believe I was talking to him, and I made sure
right because he did wear oh you jersey.

Okay, So I was about to say because he played
at Ou uh uh thunder country.

up this first segment, is the Reps kind of did
play a factor, but they played a factor so much
it paused the Spurs runs in the second half. Yeah,
like the Spurs were never able to go on a
consistent run. They cut it down to like nine at
one point, but then okay, so he would call a
time out and then there would be three fouls in
a matter of two seconds, and.

No, they don't mind fouling because one, they know they're
either gonna get away with it or two they're gonna
beat down your player to the point that it's going
to weaken them, and they had the depth to go
beyond that. So they don't mind if lou Dort gets
four personal fouls, right, because they can make up his
difference on the back end when they when they sub
in Jared McCain.

They're not fast enough.

see the okay see are built on speed. Wemby's at
the fastest guy either, but he has better conditioning than
those guys do up to this point, and he's so
much of a factor offensively and defensively.

That's why a lot of times you'll see even Carter
Brant when they were in the small formation, he runs
the five because they need, when they need, guys who
can run faster on those quick transitions and no offense
to land, no offensive plumbly, they're behind so much they're
trying to regain some of that speed, regain some of
that difference.

They can't afford to slow down, and so that's why
they're on the back end. Yeah exactly.

But and that's another thing, and of course we'll get

a question to me and I want you to kind

Does the NBA need to look at changing this rule?
You know, is he gonna get too much to where
you're gonna have these flops. SGA is gonna flop. That's
what he does. That's how he sells his stuff, right,

That's how he's the back to back MVP, you know,
not because of the flopping, but because of the scoring
and what he can do for OKAC.

You, guys, when SGA is not playing for OKC, OKAC
is a different team. They're not a team that's gonna
be consistent. Because even during that fifteen to oh run,
OKC was pulling everybody but SGA.

They kept that SGA out on the floor. Let's be
honest here. SJ has not been the best player of
this series. No, he's been double teams he's been, and
the refs aren't.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
And I'll be honest with you Spurs fans, I want
to complain about the reffing. They're not calling it as
much on him in the first half. You know, as
we get later it would win. But again, I think
the Spurs beat themselves on Friday.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
And really, if you want to talk about the refs objectively,
they were way worse in game two than they were
in Game three. Game three, at least it felt like
they were calling some of some of the BS stuff
that they missed in in that first game. But the
real issue here, Dylan, is that the killer of this
series has been Alex Caruso. If that has been the
player that that hasn't been the player that has beat

you on both ends of the court. It hasn't been SGA,
who honestly sucked in the in the first half of
the first game a lot of his shots.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
He the other day he had twenty six points. Twelve
those points came with the free throw line.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Because you expect that Chaed Holmgren has been kind of
an afterthought of this series.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
You've had bench contribution from guys like from Jalen Williams
and the A J. Mitchell who won't wh won't play
its night's game.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
But Alex Caruso has been the most consistent player offensive
and defensely. But you've had a had to cover it
because he's been annoying on defense and every single time
they set up a pick and roll or an off
ball screen for a spot of three, he's made him.
And you'll have had no response because you see the
guys out there, they're they're yon at Carter Brant, they're
yelling at Julian Champagne, They'reyona Kelton Johnson, get to your
guy on the switch. And how many times have we

seen that? Have we seen an open switch play and
they have a wide open three attempt and it.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Goes in a lot, a lot.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Yeah, Vicelle was one of those guys screaming when Carter
Bryan was out on the floor. Look, I love Carter Bryant,
don't get me wrong, but I don't know I'm on
the wing.

Well, I guess we'll be that show, right. I don't
think he's ready for the Western Conference Finals.

He has not been. He has not been a reliable
wing defender. In this series.

Against the Blazers, he was because he had to play
both the wing and of the post right, and in
this series he looks lost.

Yeah, I mean he can guard. He's a he's a
heck of a defender. Yes, you know, he's been one.

Of your best rebounders because a lot of you guys
have had butterfingers, right.

And the energy left that building Shane on Friday after
the quarter one. After quarter one, that energy was gone
you were at fifteen and nothing to start the game right,
lights out, everything right. And it was funny because I

actually guess who I ran into. Trevor Knight, former Ou quarterback,
former Texas A and M quarterback. He's there doing here,
He's so I guess he's around this area, to be
honest with you, because his wife is from here. I
believe I was talking to him, and I made sure
right because he did wear oh you jersey.

He is a San Antonio Spurs fan.

Okay, So I was about to say because he played
at Ou uh uh thunder country.

Yeah, he finished from Texas. Yeah, he finished out at
A and M.

Okay, I think he tried to.

Dabble in the He was in the NFL for like
he was in the NFL for like two years, but
as a practice squad guy.

I don't know. I think he might have been in
the USFL.

I'm not her percent sure about that, but I mean,
I'm not surprised because if if you come from Texas,
there's a good chance there's a one to three shot
you you support one of those teams.

I ran into him over at the Gave Club where
because I kind of have like a bird's eye view
of the court when I'm up there.

And I looked off to my right, and of course
you can spot a quarterback, right, you can look at
a guy and go that guy looks for me. I
could tell by his jaw line, and so he kind
of was going over there to get some food. And
I kind of turned around real quick, and I was like.

I don't know about that. Roethlisberger didn't have a jaw line. Yeah,
that's true. His neck and his chin stick out stick
out less than his nose does.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
But you know, I was like, I'm making sure that
you're not cheering. Oh you right, And he's like, oh no, no, no,
I'm not cheering for Oklahoma.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
So it's good to see that.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
But also saying, you know, as we kind of wrap
up this first segment, is the Reps kind of did
play a factor, but they played a factor so much
it paused the Spurs runs in the second half. Yeah,
like the Spurs were never able to go on a
consistent run. They cut it down to like nine at
one point, but then okay, so he would call a
time out and then there would be three fouls in
a matter of two seconds, and.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
They don't mind foulon.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
No, they don't mind fouling because one, they know they're
either gonna get away with it or two they're gonna
beat down your player to the point that it's going
to weaken them, and they had the depth to go
beyond that. So they don't mind if lou Dort gets
four personal fouls, right, because they can make up his
difference on the back end when they when they sub
in Jared McCain.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Yeah, and and our Facebook fans, we've got where Trevor played.
It was the XFL right before Okay, yeah, yeah, so
he was there in the xFF. He didn't play in
the UFL. He didn't play in the Merchanier. He played
right before that. He was He was out there doing
that for a couple of years. I did notice on
his Twitter account though it's down. I was like, because
I know I followed him, but he hasn't put out

anything in like two years, so he's kind of gone
to the the oasis, I guess, But I mean he's due.
The dude's still in shape. If anybody needs him for
practice squad.

You can be in shape and not necessarily be in
plaine shape. Yeah.

So, and again we've got other questions that we'll get to,
and I want to give him to you right now, Shane,
so you can listen and understand. People want to know this,
Uh huh. Why is Plumbing on the bench. Why is
Olinik on the bench? Why are these guys on the
bench not fast? Give them a quick answer for that.
They're not fast enough.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
And a lot of those a lot of these transitions
see the okay see are built on speed. Wemby's at
the fastest guy either, but he has better conditioning than
those guys do up to this point, and he's so
much of a factor offensively and defensively.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
You make up for that.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
That's why a lot of times you'll see even Carter
Brant when they were in the small formation, he runs
the five because they need, when they need, guys who
can run faster on those quick transitions and no offense
to land, no offensive plumbly, they're behind so much they're
trying to regain some of that speed, regain some of
that difference.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
They can't afford to slow down, and so that's why
they're on the back end. Yeah exactly.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
I mean, we could put him out there to destroy
and do some hard fouls. Maybe I don't know, but
I think Danny Vajas says it best. As we kind
of close this segment, he says, no excuse, the refs
aren't playing the game. The Spurs need to step up
today and they have nothing to lose, and they don't
have anything to lose today. It'll be interesting to see
what Mitch Johnson kind of pulls out of his bag,

you know, in a game like this, because honestly, Danny's right,
you have nothing to lose today, and so I know
the game is also about coaching. I wonder what type
of chess move Mitch Johnson will do, And of course
