Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome into the second hour of the Fanatics. I'm your host,
Stilling Memory along with Shane Carters. We get you rolling
on your Sunday Funday plenty to talk about Spurs. Are
they in trouble? Game three on Monday. We're gonna break
that down here as well. I got a little bit
of a Sandlot edition. I gotta check in on Shane
after that National Championship run.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Well, we'll see if Shane's okay.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
I'm okay. Did you enjoy watching from the couch?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
I did? I did. I absolutely All.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
These other non fans that were that weren't weren't even
participating in the championship.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Yeah, we lost.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Another year there of Texas fans being happy about that.
But we'll get into that in our Sandlot edition. We'll
also check in on the Missions baseball team.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Which, by the way, I'm I'm trying to get tickets
to that for us to give out on the show.
It's just it's hard to get stuff like that for
some reason during the summer.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I don't know why that is.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
You know, they're about to have a six game homestand
coming up starting on Tuesday. But we'll talk about that
a little bit. But also to the World Cup. Yes,
can we talk.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
About it for a little bit right now? We talk
a little soccer this dude.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
You know. So you know, states Men had yesterday to
Germany and they lost, but people say it's positive.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
I disagree. I disagree.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I think that the United States is gonna get embarrassed
in this World Cup. I think that they win their group,
you know, if not, they get second. But I don't
see them going further than that.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
I'm gonna tell you right now. I feel Spain is
going to win the whole thing.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Really.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Spain's a good team, They've got their fast and it's
gonna come down to them. But of course, you know
yesterday and I hate it, Shane. I hate that people go, yeah,
we lost, but we look great, totally ready for the
World Cup. Really, like I'm tired of being mediocre.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Moral victories.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
And first of all, there's a really good chance that
the United States could actually go far in this World Cup.
You know why, because there's not a lot of people
that are going to be in the stands well and
the bus.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
If you look at their group, they're with Paraguay and Australia.
Australia is gonna be gonna be tough.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Yeah, but it's one of those things where I'm not
I'm not confident in this, in this uh, in the team, No,
I'm not. You know, I kind of feel like they're arrogant.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
You know, I'm with Alexa Alexi Lawless on this.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
You know, this is a generation that has had everything
given to them because back in the day, United States
men's soccer did not get everything that they have now,
you know, and this is the World Cup on your turf.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
And I feel like if it was on somebody else's turf.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
This team probably wouldn't have qualified, you know. But there's
some surprises too. Italy's not in.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
It, and what's last time Italy hadn't been in the
World Cup.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
This is their second time going around. Italy's in trouble,
and Italy's always been there. You know, you got France,
it's always going to play the key factor ago. Yeah,
and you know Iran is going to be here.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Change see that?
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Well, I mean we'll I mean, we'll see if unless,
like you know, our country keeps doing that stuff where
they want to kee people with the playing visas to
not play well.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
No, they they gave them access.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
They did yesterday, I saw the headline come out that
they gave them Axis, that they're gonna.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
I was gonna.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
I was gonna say, like a team that I think
one has a pretty favorable group and I think could
win it all.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
As France they could. Fancy is always.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Good, Killian and Babwe by Bye by itself is a problem.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, And that's you know, one of those things that
you kind of look at and but like the warm
up for the United States men included Portugal, Belgium. Belgium
was a five to one loss. Portugal was too nothing,
you know when you look at it. Sure we get
through group prey play, but I think we're out in
(03:42):
the elimination run. That's it, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Make it that far.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah, And honestly, I'll be honest with you, I'm probably
gonna out of the three that are on this side,
I'm probably gonna go more for Mexico, you know, I
like Mexico's like, if there's that, if there's the because Canada, Mexico,
you know, states are all hosting, right, more games are
in the United States, of course, But out of those three,
I could see Mexico make a run. I could even
(04:08):
see Canada do it as well. But with the United States,
we all talk about believe. I'm not believing in this squad.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
I was gonna ask because we were talking during one
of the breaks that I have, I had like similar
to the missions. I tried to get tickets to give
out on the show for the Tuesday friendly that they're
hosting over at Toyda Field between Senegal and Saudi. I
couldn't get those apparently, which sucks. Again, it's a I
guess it's not a SAFC event. It's like a World whatever.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
It doesn't matter. Are you gonna go to that?
Speaker 2 (04:36):
I want to try to.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Life happens sometimes, yeah, but yeah, I'd like to see
it because Senegal is they're they're a tough squad. They
played the United States, been to a pretty good match
the other day. Uh, And it's gonna be interesting to
watch because you know, Saudi is not gonna go that far,
but Senegal could have a run. And Senegal is a
fan favorite team by the way, from their traditions to
(04:59):
their fans, you know. But I would say, if you
have a chance, that's that's World Cup quality soccer at
Toyota Field, and you guys should go out there.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
I ain't gonna be a fun night.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
I don't know. I don't know if Senegal is gonna
make it all the way. But it's cool to see
that kind of thing regardless.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
I mean, they're fast.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
I mean, I'm I might. I might try and see
just so I can think my daughter. I think that'd
be kind of fun to go for.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Sure, in international friendly. There's nothing better.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Since we're on the subject of the World Cup, which
I and we'll talk to more and more. I've talked
to our friend Katie Goodman about being on the show,
especially closest to the event. I had brought this up
with with with our friend Sam Free's Biggest Puma, and
they had the early odds from least to most. And
I want you to find like the best value for
(05:46):
like who could win the World Cup. Okay, okay, so
this is like, uh, it's it's it's from the not
to pull it up. Give me a second. I had
to put up on my emails one second. I'm sorry,
I'm this is live radio, folks, I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Where is breaking news? Breaking news?
Speaker 1 (06:01):
No, it's you know, as we get to the World Cup,
you know, and just so you guys know, Mexico.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
I like Mexico, okay.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
And then their group they have South Africa, South Korea,
in Chesia, Cheka something like that anyway, Cechnia. Yeah, and
so Mexico's world ranking is fifteen. By the way, you know,
Canada is at thirty, right, and guess who's at sixteen.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Mexico's at fifteen. United States is at sixteen.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Okay, Okay, here we go, here's it. Okay.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
So again I don't how much of a better you are,
but take this, take this for what they are. So
right now, who'd you say you had the favorite to
win it all? Was? Who? Spain's Right now, they are
actually the bet and favorite. It's a slight favorite at
plus four to fifty. Right behind them is France, my
pick at plus four seventy five. And then you have
and I'll give you all all the bets inside of
a ten one thousand odds. Okay, So England is plus
(06:52):
seven hundred, Portugal is plus eight fifty, which for obvious reasons,
Brazil plus nine hundred, and then plus and then Argentina
again obvious reasons plus nine hundred and then and then
the gap is kind of like bigger spreads out the bottom.
Like the least odds to win it all is plus
two hundred and fifty thousand. The country is up Jordan,
(07:12):
Correkawkakao and then and then Haiti. So go ahead and
give me a team and I'll tell you their odds,
and you tell me if that's too high or too low,
and they'll give you like the mid.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Range odds in that one.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
So just any team, Yeah, give me any team. Okay,
how about let's go with Saudi Arabia. The reason why
I want to bring them up is that if you
do go see them on Tuesday, they're playing the team
that I in the group stage. They're playing Spain, So
the Saudi team you'll be taking on Spain.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
But give me Saudi Arabia.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
Saudi Arabia as of right now is a plus one
hundred thousand, so they have the ninth worst odds to
win the World Cup.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
I would believe.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
I would believe. How about Argentina. I'm curious about Argentina.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Argentina, I thought they just mentioned that. Yeah, they're plus
nine hundred. They have the eighth best odds to win
it all. Okay, Okay, Jordan worst odds plus two hundred
and fifty thousand.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Yeah, they are bottom of the barrel.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Wow. I mean that would tell you how about Ghana?
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Ghana. Let's see where Ghana's at.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
I'm curious why. I'm curious why you want why you're
asking for Ghana because like a lot of the Africa
has are the ones at the bottom.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
I know. But wait, if you're a bet in person, now,
well call gambler.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
Okay, so Ghana actually has these would be this would
be something you can throw with ten bucks at I
think make ten twenty bucks at. They're a plus thirty thousand,
and for perspective, that's plus ten thousand more than South Korea.
It's just it's also fifteen thousand less than Sweden. Okay,
So they're basically saying that Ghana has actually similar closer
(08:43):
odds to South Korea than they do Sweden, even though
Sweden I think is actually the harder group.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
And here's one out of group cee. Okay, we can Morocco.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
I like Morocco and the last World Cup they had
a great little run. Morocco is a team that could
they could probably beat Brazil.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Morocco is actually and and I'll bring up another team
after this that I think actually has great odds and
I think would be a good bet in favor for
this one. Morocco's plus five thousand, so they're right there
with Belgium and Colombia and teams like that. A team
right behind them that I think actually is a pretty
favorable spot even though they'd have to get out of
their group to do so is Japan. If they get
out of their group, I I like Japan's chances. I
(09:24):
think that they have a squad they can compete for perspective.
By the way, USA is a plus six thousand, so
they have what is that the fourteenth best odds. Wow, Okay,
a little surprise in them in that one. But right now,
if you if you look at the way the odds
are spread out, and obviously these are going to change.
This is before the June eleventh start of the actual tournament.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
This is during the friendlies.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
The top end teams kind of cap out at about
a nine thousand to one odds or less. Because the
lowest odds of what I guess you would have in
that in that in that spectrum is Senegal at plus
nine thousand, and then it has a huge drop Sweden
at plus twelve thousand. So there's a three thousand point
dip at that point, and so it pretty much tells me,
(10:07):
according to these odds, at the very least, Sweden might
be the best of the quote unquote worst and that's
that's just like how you phrase that.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
I think, I think, I think you're right.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
I think the USA is an a favorable spot because
their group is with with the Paraguay and in Australia
and Turkey, I think is the other team as well
in Turkey. I'm not taking Turkey seriously in that one.
I think I think I think they make it out
of the group at the very least. I think there's
I think that's that's reasonable for them. But I don't
like their odds when they get to the championship, especially
(10:39):
just because it feels like to me, you can pretty
much bet on one thing doing the World Cup final
is gonna between a European country and a Spanish speaking country.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
It could be.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
It feels like it's always.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Like that, you know, I would see that maybe it's
France and Spain, you know, and we'll probably see a
whimby siding. If that's the case, it'll be a fun
World Cup. At the end of the day. Unfortunately that
the whole disaster with the tickets and everything else like
that has just been an absolute disaster.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Oh yeah, you've.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Heard about the water ball controversy. They have now going.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
Yep, you know, and all these you know rules, and
you know, it has to be natural grass, it has
to be this, and hands down, the stadium has done
their job. But the tickets are just they're not affordable,
you know. And so everybody, like like Trump says they
can just watch it on TV, you know, and and
that's what we'll have to do.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
But I'm excited for what.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Do you think would wind up being like the player
of the tournament, like the best player for the entire
of the tournament. I think I'm still leaning Killian. I
think I think I think right now, the way we
used to look at guys that Christian a Ronaldo and
Liono MESSI I think this might be in Bobby's time.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
It could be.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
I mean very well could be. You can give me
anybody out there and we'll see the.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
Americans we want, we want, we want Christian, Yeah, we
want policy to be the guy.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
But we'll see. He's kind of a little he's got
a little bit of an ego.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
He's he's kind of you need a little ego sometimes.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Yeah, but not as much as him. I said it,
I said it. I'm sorry, he's he's kind of he was.
I had a lot of hope for Landon Donovan. Yeah,
that didn't work out either. No, lost his hair, but
then now he has like that hair growth back. Now
have you seen that?
Speaker 2 (12:20):
That's terrible.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
And then they had who's the guy from Nakadochus who
was who was like the USA star for a long
time during the twenty ten Clinton Dempsey, Yeah he was really.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Tim Howard was the start of that team. Ore for
being honest.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
Yeah, he will keep Yeah. So, I mean it'll be fun.
World Cup, you know, kicks off. I think it's the
last week of June, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
Uh, first games are going to start on June twelfth.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Okay, early games have friendly is going on right now?
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Yeah? All right?
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Yeah, So you know it's it's fun because in twenty
one days I'll be on a boat. I'm counting down
twenty one days until my vacation. It'll be a fun time.
But coming up next, I want to jump back over
into the Silver and Black. We want to hear from
you two one zero, seven, three six nine seven sixty.
How are you feeling for Monday's game as we will
preview that ahead on the Fanatics on ticket seven sixty
