When the Peaches Disappear: A Hilarious, Heartfelt Ride Through Central Texas Life

This episode of The JB and Sandy Show turns everyday Texas moments into laugh‑out‑loud radio gold, starting with the shocking reality that there will be no Fredericksburg peaches this year.
From that agricultural heartbreak comes one of the most memorable moments of the show: Sandy’s emotional and unexpectedly poetic “Ode to the Fredericksburg Peaches.” It’s equal parts comedy, nostalgia, and love letter — complete with lines mourning cobbler, roadside stands, and the humble peach seller waving down F‑150s in the Texas heat.
The fun doesn’t stop there. JB, Sandy, and Tricia dive deep into Cedar Park pride, food obsessions, and the age‑old debate of what you should never knock until you try. The trio swaps stories about local favorites, cultural quirks, and why living just outside Austin comes with its own badge of honor.
The episode also hits pop‑culture joy notes as they reflect on how wildly The Price Is Right has changed, including a jaw‑dropping prize moment that leaves everyone stunned — and nostalgic for the days of small appliances and simple dreams. Sandy shares one of his hardest laughs in years thanks to a Saturday Night Live sketch that spirals into pure chaos.
Add in stories of floating concerts, Paddlepalooza sightings, mounted police horses stealing hearts, and JB’s ongoing mission to keep the show unpredictable, and you get an episode that perfectly captures the spirit of everyday Texas life — funny, communal, and just a little unhinged.
Memorable moments include:
  • “The trees had a meeting. No humans allowed.”

  • Sandy declaring peaches have gone on a sabbatical.

  • Tricia calmly navigating chaos while keeping the show on track.

  • The realization that even people who don’t like peaches are devastated.

about you need all kinds of cobblers.

Speaker 3 (04:54):

cobbler delight, We're taking the sabbatica. We'll see you the
next bite. Woe is us, woe is pie? Whoa is cobbler?

(06:00):
And jam? No peach ice cream melting dripping off of
my hand. And poor roadside guy with his lonely wood

Now what will he sell us? O tragedy dire? Maybe

(06:23):

Who in this room took a day off at school
because you were sick and sat and watched the prices right?

(08:02):
As a kid?

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Of course of it.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
I really just did it for the for the barkers, babes,
little yeah. Wow. But listen, listen, listen with a new
record on the Price is Right.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
We're twelve thousand, six hundred and fifty dollars.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Look at that two hundred and forty almost almost more
than a quarter mil two hundred wow, forty one thousand dollars. No,
that's no, almost, He's right, almost a quarter million dollars. Wow.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
On the Price right, No, I have not watched that
in a long time.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Is that I mean to think about they have to
give away that kind of money to keep up right, right?

Speaker 3 (08:42):
I mean we were giving away ovens when I was
a kid watching it. Ovens or trips to Tahiti or
Tahiti Twrand.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
My favorite I wish I had it handy, I don't.
But my favorite price is Right moment is when Bob Barker,
the voice guy, the announcer that come on down. Guy's
name was Rod Roddy and he was said. Bob says,
tell him what they got, what we're gonna give away, Bob.
Rod Roddy goes a new car. And then it was
kind of you could tell Rod didn't have his papers,
and Mob goes, what kind of car is it? Rod?

(09:15):
Rod goes a new car. Bob, we don't give away
use cars.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
He didn't have his notes, He didn't have his.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Notes in front of him him. Was very funny. To
Jami and Sandy Show along with Tricia ninety eight one
Cavett streaming on the iHeartRadio app ninety eight one Cavet
your all time country favorites. It's the Jam and Sandy Show.
Hope your mom's had a nice Mother's Day weekend. Trisia
got her botox for her Mother's Day.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Oh that's a nice Yeah, she's a little excited. You're
in a look, I'm in a little yep, I'm gonna
get everything kind of tightened up a little bit.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Yeah, So Mother's Day was good. But what was that
thing on Saturday?

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Yeah, I was wanting to check in with you guys
and see if you had a good time at Paddle Palooza.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
It wasn't in Cedar Park. We didn't.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
We were out. That was It's fine.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
I kind of laughed because it it was like a
supposed to be like a record setting stand up where
Austin wants to be the stand up paddle capital of
the world, which I think is funny. And I did
drive across the bridge and saw it. On Saturday, we
had a storm cell kind of roll through like around
one o'clock because I knew that because I was at

(10:25):
the car wash when it started pouring.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Yeah, like fe stupid car washing. It starts raining.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Right and it it whipped through pretty quick.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
So it was probably a good day for the rest
of the day for the paddle Palooza. But I thought
there I think they had DJs on it out like
a flotilla.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
There were hundreds of hundreds of them.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
That's what I was gonna ask. Was it a polu
you know, not very big, or a pollo za very big,
very big, because yeah, if you have DJs, it's definitely
a pollu za.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
Yeah, music is involved.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Hundreds and hundreds of stand up paddle I.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Just wanted to know if you guys had a good time.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
We didn't participate.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Did you ever do the concert on Lake Travis? You
remember they did that where you pull up they had
rows and you tie up your boats to that the
concert you were living on Lake Travis when they I mean.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
We did a bunch of stuff.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
There was way way up the lake.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Okay, it was the way far as away from us.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
That was the thing that I think they thought was
going to catch on as an annual.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
I remember that.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Now you would buy a spot and tie your boat up,
and they had rows of them.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
I remember that floating. I think that was up near
Cow Creek. I'm not sure, but it was a ways
for us. If you live there, it's right there. But
from where we lived.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
You know what I mean is Devil's Cove still a thing.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
I'm sure.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
I think it's a lot more tamed because uh, you
know that's really that's policed by Jonestown.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Yeah. Sound, and then.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
People people built homes on the cliffs of Devil's Cove.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
And then complained and they complained about the music.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Which is a great place to live nine months of
the year. Yeah, but those three months in the summer,
it's not at the party.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
Was there first?

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Yeah, it was? I agree with you. Hey makes you
grab the podcast version of the show. Tricia works hard
every day producing that podcast. It's available on the iHeartRadio app.

forget George Strait Friday Night, which is hard to believe.

(12:27):
George playing a lot of shows in Austin.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
No kidding, It's almost like a residency sort of.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Yeah, I mean how cool.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Would that be? Oh right for him to have a
residency wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Surprise me because people would come from all over the
state for a Friday night, Saturday night show.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah, he can play anywhere. I mean, he could do say,
I'm doing an outdoor show in Marfa. Yeah, and hundreds
of thousands of people show up.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yeah, another one Friday night. We wrap up the show
every day with some of the things we learned. Terrisia
keeps track, how do we do well?

Speaker 3 (12:55):
We learned that we're not going to get any Fredericksburg
peaches this year. Is it the weird weather, the freeze,
the drought.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
The heat. Coach Brown was upset.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Now you can hear it on the podcast SEARCHJB and Sandy.
Does Austin have a concert a benefit concert for the
peach farmer?

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Oh, I'm sure we will. I'm sure we will. The
roadside worker.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Yeah, maybe all the proceeds from Willie's picnic will go
to the peach farmer.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
The roadside salesman.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
The other thing we learned about was Austin Police Department
has a new mount joining their mounted patrol. We welcomed Marylyn,
a four year old quarter horse, to the stables. She's
going to be protecting Austin in the downtown area and
on the hiking bike trail. Glad she's out there, Maryland.
I would like to meet Marylyn one day. And finally,
with the.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Horses like you did with the raccoons.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Please think it was weird. I think it's just me
showing my love and appreciation for the animals.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
It's not just the horses, it's the mounted police on
the horses too.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
That she has a thing for.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Glad to do with the guys on the horse as well.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
There's a quick story.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
There's a funny video going around of a guy walking
up to a mounted police officer in a downtown area
and he goes, can I pet? And the officer goes sure,
and he started petting the officers lag.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Oh my god, that would be me. That would be me.
You'd have to pull me off.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
And finally, the last thing we learned today, Sandy shared
with us what did you say the thing that has
made you laugh the hardest that you've seen on television
in ten years?

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Yeah? It was from Saturday Night Live. Matt Damon was
the host. The premise is it's a couple they're both auctioneers,
and he comes home late one night.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
Home honey, bunny, Honey, bunny, honey bunny. Can I get
a smile? Can I get a hig?

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Then I get a hello?

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Well, look who comes frawing home late?

Speaker 1 (14:44):
And sin?

Speaker 4 (14:45):
