Speaker 1 (00:04):
Okay, all right, Hello everyone, Welcome to the JV and
Sandy Morning Show. Wherever you are and however you're listening,
thanks for being here. Good morning, Meg. I'm working in
my head, guys, like a new open for the show
that's something like coming to you from the shadows of
(00:25):
the three sixty Bridge, because we literally are. I mean,
it's right there up the window. Trish, you can see
it from where you're sitting, right.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
You're shoving it right over the trees.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Not really, Oh yeah, I can't. I just got to
lean over a little bit. I can see the very
top of the bridge over the trees.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
And I'm on the other side of the studio, so
I can't see it point, which.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Is fun for me. You know, my daughter being a
pro wake surfer, I've always seen this building from the
water for years.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Yeah. We're on at Plaza on the lake, literally on
the shores of this is still Lake Austin, right.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Okay, you're a Travis guy.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Yeah, I'm a Lake Travis guy. They keep Ladybird, Lake Town, Lake,
Lake cost and Colorado River. I mean it goes on
and on and on.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
It just I love when people are here from out
of town. We know people from all over the world
from my daughter's wake surf experience, and they're like, you
call this a lake, Yeah, it's a river. By the way,
we get reprimanded all the time.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
I had when the week that A Triciaan I got married,
my family was in town and I had this unbelievably
obnoxious blowheart of a brother in law that when he
got there, I lived on Lake Travis. And he told
me and would not budge, that the deepest that lake
is is eleven feet And I was like, dude, don't know. No,
(01:48):
I said, it's dude, it's deeper than that at the
end of my boat dock. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
I was just on it last month near the oasis.
It's like fifty sixty feet deep there.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yeah, there's parts of that, like on the deepest point
of the lake, depends on where the lake is. But
he wouldn't budget Oh no, no, I read about it.
I know all of it. He's just one of those
know it all guys. I can say this now. He's
no longer with us, no longer with dead. Oh yeah,
passed away a few years ago. My sister, if she's listened,
(02:18):
she's like getting hells Andy.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Getting I've had a couple of bad brothers.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
And I'm so glad you were an only child, Tricia,
it didn't have a dad. I'm so glad.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
You don't have to deal with anything, you know.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Yeah, exactly, she's a handful. Let's get started, as we
always do, Trisa, what's the first thing made you laugh?
Speaker 4 (02:45):
What if I donate my body to science and they're like, oh,
we can't use this.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Well, this one's road hard put up.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Well, we kind of get rid of this one.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
That would be horrific. When the ultimate insult you embarrassed?
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Do they have a good will of bodies?
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Tonight at the Moody Center, you can see George Straight.
If you're lucky enough to have a ticket. Good morning,
It's ninety eight one. Cavet, Tricia. Remind everybody that just
got up or just turned on the radio to cavet
to the trispiration that you're gonna fix the fluffy worded meme.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
We rise by lifting others, all right.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
I shouldn't fix that into something you can actually use
in just a moment. Big night tonight, George Straight, Tonight's
the night Moody Center. I mean, if you've got that ticket,
you're lucky. That's probably the hardest ticket in a long
long time.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
George is one of those guys you can't just walk
around and be a normal person. I don't think it's
got to be hard. He's just such, He's just His
elevated star status is just incredible.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Mike, my cousin and her husband live in Bernie and
living in a golf course community where George plays golf.
They said they see him all.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
The time now and Bernie people probably leave him alone.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I would imagine. So, yeah, just out and my buddy,
my cousin's husband, Chris, told me so, I always see him.
We just you know, there there's George Straight. Yeah, which
is just blows your mind to think about it.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
I was there was that way for me when Robert
Plant was cruising around South Congress all the time. Yeah,
that's Robert.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
I know. It's bizarre, isn't it really?
Speaker 3 (04:19):
George bigger star than that.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Yeah. I can't imagine even if you see him on
a regular basis, I can't imagine that you don't still go.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
My god, that's George Straight. Yeah, it's still you have
to be starstruck every time.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Trista the trispiration, You're the fluffy word. It means you're
going to turn into a trispiration?
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Is we rise by lifting others?
Speaker 1 (04:37):
All right? Fix it?
Speaker 2 (04:38):
We rise because the dog is making that sound right
before he throws up, and we got to get him.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Off the carpet.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
If they made that sound an alarm an alarm clock.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Yeah, nothing to wake you up fast, nothing, nothing will
make you go from dead asleep to standing up faster
than that.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Sound good? One Trisha proun at you, Kenny Chessey, JV
and Sandy Show ninety eight one kvet okay. Yesterday on
the show, Trisha or JB brought up that they found
a lost baby beaver and someone's taking it in and
typical Austin style, is trying to rescu.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
It was after those heavy rains last week. It got
maybe washed away from its family, right.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
And Bubba's on the phone, gonna tell us now, now,
where can we go to see some beavers? Ba?
Speaker 5 (05:26):
Yeah, over there at Farmer Lane and thirty five, or
a little street on the west side called Indian Mound.
There's like some hotels there. There's a couple of tanks
over there, you know, like ponds, and there's beavers in
the one to the shop.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Really, how do you how do you know this information?
Do you work right by there before? Okay?
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Oh do the beer? Do the beavers mess up your
fishing at all?
Speaker 3 (05:54):
I've never been around. Are they friendly?
Speaker 5 (05:57):
I mean they're not going to come up to you
or anything like that, but I mean they're wild.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
But I mean, I'm just concerned that you gave up
your fishing hole.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
Bubba every Yeah you know, there to find you.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
But yeah, buddy, have a great day, Thanks for calling,
Thanks for listening. All right, by bye? Bubba giving up
his fishing haule. You don't care. They're going to run
you off if they catch you there. It is that
time of year when mister no shoulders the Central Texas
snakes are out slithering around. Trisha's got the details for
(06:31):
us and just a little bit. Also stick around because
there is a movie that is premiering on Netflix. Uh
that if you're if you've been in Austin for a while,
and if you've ever played Lions Municipal, you need to
watch this.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Yeah, this I'm super excited about. I mean, I've already
seen the movie. I went to the premiere right at
the Bob Bullock and yeah, you're gonna love this.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
I've seen the trailer. It looks great.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
It's so Austin.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
All right, we'll get to that in just a little bit. First, Tricia,
tell us what we need to look out for when
it comes to Central Texas.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
All right, they're always hind away during the colder months,
but when it gets warm, they're looking for places to
come out and sun themselves, be warm, hang out, and
they're wanting to eat. So snake experts are saying that
you need to keep snakes away from your home and
places that you normally walk around by keeping it neat
and tidy.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Getting piles of wood, if you have firewood, put.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Them up on something. Don't leave things on the ground,
any piles of brush. Get those out of there, because
that's where snakes like to hang out and that's where
you're accidentally going to stumble upon them. They said, for
if you're out trail walking, make a lot of noise.
I remember my grandfather would tell me clap before you
go into the hay barn. Make a lot of noise
so they know you're coming, because they want to get
away from you.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Women are good at that.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
You make a lot of noise.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
You know they're coming.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, there's no silent on a walk trail.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Yeah, you guys walk together. She ever quiet?
Speaker 1 (07:52):
No, no, no, no nakes.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
He would rather I'd be totally silent for the duration
of the walk than speak at all.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
I know, fun my hour walk. I just I enjoy
the quiet. I'm sorry, I'm swell.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
The snakes are a threat with your quietness.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
That's true and with headphones on and swell, you get
me saving your life by talking to you when I'm
saving my life.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Funny thing is about this time of year and we
just did it a week or so ago. We have
this this crew come back all the leaves because we're
we're fortunate to have all these great oak trees and
it's a lot of leaves. And the landscape guy came
to the door and he's like, I always feel like
such a schmuck. I'm just hanging out near Yeah. Yeah,
(08:34):
they're working. They're about if one of them is like
ninety years old. Anyway, he comes in. He's like, mister JB.
In the backyard, we found some snakes. You want me
to And then he does his finger across his throat.
He goes, you want me to. I was like, no,
let him go let him go. They'll be fine. Coming
(08:54):
up with JB and Sandy.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
All right, stick around because there is a movie that
it's going to be start streaming on Netflix with huge
Austin ties. And if you've ever if you know anything
about Lions Municipal golf Course and a lot of the
new people that have moved to Austin, you're gonna love
this movie. It's called The Long Shot. Here's the trailer
of it. New woman working in Austin Green Space Authority
(09:17):
and she could be a real problem for us.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
She has a tech bro boyfriend who is also a
recent Austin transplant.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
She's gonna be trouble, really good looking trouble. If we
don't erase the deficit by the end of the quarter,
the city will shut UNI down.
Speaker 5 (09:35):
These are the things you're going to need to do
in order to survive.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Rob work all the dollars required for the duration of
your round.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
We now have a zero dolarance policy on outside food
and beverages on the course.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
UNI is losing its soul aid into that.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Brother, we'll tell you more about that coming up next.
It's the JB and Sandy Show on Austin's All Time
Country Favorites ninety eight one Cavet, Good morning. I am
so excited about this movie. I cannot wait to watch
it on Netflix because it's got It's all about Austin
and something we all know something about in Austin, Texas.
(10:11):
It's called The Long Shot. Now you have a Your
friend is the director, creator, producer, producer of this producer
his name is well, her name is Jennifer Kuchai, and
Austin Nichols Austin. It is the director.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
Okay, I think this is his first time directing a
full full length feature. He's more of an actor, right
and it's been acting since he was a kid. And
it is just so funny. It's it's a it's based
on saving Muni.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Clearly, and watching the trailer, that's what I mean. That's
the birth of the idea and quick backstory on Lions
Municipal quote unquote Muni. For as long as I can remember,
there's always been a discussion of getting rid of Muni
because the University of Texas owns that land right.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Right, it's always a fight to keep it right, a fight.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
To keep it there. And there's this this grass been
this grassroots effort for forever to protect lines municipal golf course.
And it's always back and forth. It seems like it
reaches peaks and then you don't hear about it. Then
it comes back. But this movie is all about that.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Yeah, it's it's very much a It's got a lot
of caddyshack vibe to it, and I don't want to
give away too much of it, but it's it's the
it's the people running the muni and that's just the
wild West.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
The characters are just off the rails.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
They're doing rave parties on the golf course late at night.
It's just crazy. And then this woman comes into you know,
the California Woman to do a study on it. Yeah,
and and her douchey husband is part of it, and
they're they're just these scrappy guys trying to save the
golf course. It's hysterical and it Austin Nichols described it
(11:53):
as a love letter to Austin.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
That's cool.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
It's there's so many references to they take them, They
take the I don't want to give it away, but
they take the woman out on the town to show
her what Austin's all about, so she could get it right,
which is what we're doing all the time here. You're right, right, Yeah,
it's so fun. They shot it at Willie's Golf.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Course, speA.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Nice. So there's a and just watching the trailer of it,
there are a lot of digs at the California Transplants.
I mean, I'm just calling it like I see it.
So if you're a California transplant, I hopefully you have
a thick skin because there's a lot of digs.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
I mean, Reggie Bush is in it. Trophy, Greg, I'm
glad you picked up on it. It's a great uh cameo.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
It's called the long Shot. I'm curious, Tricia not a
golf fan, not you know, will you watch it?
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Oh, I'll watch it.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
Even I've played a round or two on the Uni
Golf excuse me on that golf course.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
You jerk a lot of beer on Uni Golf course.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
I mean maybe I did. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Watch it, Yeah, I'll watch a big You had me
when you're like it's kind of caddyshack like in the trailer.
Some of the lines in the trailer hysterical. So yeah,
I'm in all right. I'm trying to confirm the Netflix thing.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
I just look for sure. It's on Apple TV and
fang Fendango, but not quite. I'm not sure. On the Netflix,
you can check. It's called The Long Shot and it
starts streaming tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Wrong button, Sandy, I'm getting there. Hang on and Sandy.
All right, a gigantic baseball weekend for the Loghorns. They're
going to College Station, and man, did I get some
inside scoop on some warnings for Longhorned players and fans
and family. All right, we'll tell you about that coming up.
(13:43):
A ninety eight one kvet. If you're going to College
Station this weekend, there's some stuff you need to know.
I've got an inside source at UT telling me what
the athletic department is telling the players and telling the
families and fans of those attending the game in College Station.
We'll tell you about that. Just to second.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
And the Statesman has put out a statement because the
Captain k is on Sunday right, twenty five thousand people affected.
A lot of tourists come in for that event. If
the expectation at racetime is fifteen percent chance of thunderstorm,
the thing to keep an eye out if you're planning
on attending or viewing is if there's a lightning within
(14:23):
thirty minutes at the start, they're probably gonna call it.
They had thirty minutes, yeah, they they'll delay thirty minutes
if there's lightning, is what they said. But if lightning
is a big factor, they might have to call it,
all right, and hopefully it goes off. If it's just raining,
it will happen.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
Absolutely. You can run in the rain. Yeah, the lightning,
that'll kill you, right right, all right, Longhorns. Huge baseball
weekend for the Longhorns having a great season by the way.
They go down to Texas A and Them for three
games Tomorrow night seven o'clock Saturday, two o'clock Sunday one o'clock.
You may not remember this, but coach Slasnagel from ut
(15:05):
the head coach he used to coach at A and M.
Speaker 6 (15:07):
Oh I didn't know that, and this is his first
game back to go booming back to A and M
for a baseball game coaching the Longhorns. Right, So they
have I've been told by someone I know in the
athletic department, they've doubled his security the coach for this
series at Texas A and M. They also have told
(15:31):
the players and the and the families that unless you
are going from the hotel to the ballpark, do not
wear any longhorn gear.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
No, longhorn gear like the pull draw attention. Don't draw
any attention to yourself outside of the ballpark or your
way to the ballpark.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
That's unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
That that is, Yeah, it is.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
I remember. I mean one time you and I went
we were in Chicago, you and I went to a
Red Wings Blackhawks game and I'm like, don't wear either colors.
That's hockey.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Yeah, yeah, this m I know. I mean, their rivalry
is for real, man and their coach left them and
went to the Texas.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
But has there been a history of any kind of
physical violence, you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (16:22):
No, probably because they are doing things like this. You
know what I mean with giving extra security and not
encourage you to not wear long I mean, don't go
out to dinner and in college station, you know, Saturday
night with longhorn gear on. That would not be a
good idea.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
You know, people, some people are going to do that.
I just can't believe. I just can't believe that it's
that big of a deal. I mean, I know that
the rivalry is huge. Yeah, but this seems like next level.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yeah. I think so too, And I've never heard of
that type of thing, but hey, you never know what
can happen.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
You see people in aggie gear all over Austin. I
don't think twice about it.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
No either, it's just another person that went Dan I do.
It's all it is, Wow, Andy, you guys have got
to stick around. And Trisia's mother has given me permission
to talk about this and what she is doing for
her dog, and she thinks it is totally totally normal.
(17:22):
Tricia told her it was nonsense, nonsense, what she's doing.
We'll tell you it's crazy, all right. It's coming up
next to ninety eight one k VET. I'm telling you, JB.
I don't know, all right, listen, Tricia's mother said that, okay,
go ahead, talk about this on the radio. Now. Both
of us think this is crazy, all right, But she's
(17:43):
doing with her dog. It's the JB and Sandy Show.
And you can call us if you want. Eight four
four three nine zero k vet eight four four three
nine zero kV e T my mother in law. Trisa's
mom has a corgy and Corgy and Poppy is is
how old is she too?
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Poppies two almost three maybe and Poppies overweight okay.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
Because Poppies gets extra snacks right, already off to a
rough start, right, so Poppies, you know.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Stusha's mom, Poppy's mom, if you will, has decided that
she needs to lose some weight. The bet has said,
you need to lose some weight. So her mother if
she said, I could talk about this on the radio
and ask people if it's crazy or not good? Okay,
and you can call them chime in if you want.
Eight four four three nine okay.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Bet, I'm a dog person, so I may have her back.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
She is deciding. She has decided. One of the ways
to help the dog lose weight is she is she
is no longer going to eat food that she knows
the dog likes in front of her.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
That is I'm not made up.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
That is.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
That's funny.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
The dog she will sneak the food if she wants
to eat it, so the dog can't see her eating
it and then get upset.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
Right, that's just that's funny. But just draw the line
like I don't feed dogs from the table, my white does.
So they drive her crazy. They don't bother me just
draw the line.
Speaker 4 (19:19):
Yeah, but but just the thought process of she's gonna
get real sad if she sees me eat this and
she can't have it.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
And I was like, I saw her eating a stick
in the back yard.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
What do you guys think? Is that crazy? Eight? Four
or four three nine zero? Cave e t again, just
real quick, just so you get it clear. She's decided
to help the dog lose weight by no longer eating
food that she knows the dog likes in front of her.
That's her plan, and not not going on walks all right,
(19:53):
if you want to.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Walk by any fast food places.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
No gos no three nine oh cavet. Good morning, JB
and Sandy. Show Boy tonight really kicks off a busy
few days in Austin, Texas. George Straight at the Moody
Center tonight and Saturday night, and then Gary Allen at
the Round Rock Amphitheater on Friday night, and then of
course George Straight again on Saturday, and then the Captain
(20:16):
k Whether permitting is on Sunday, So lots of stuff
to do. Typical weekend in Austin, Texas.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Right, Yeah, fifteen percent chance of rain at the start
of the race. But if there's lightning, they might have
to call it.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
We're gonna get to your phone calls in just a
minute about Tricia's mom deciding not to eat the food
that her dog likes to eat in front of the
dog to help her lose weight. We're gonna get the
bat in those calls.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
And it's just funny when you say it out loud.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
It is. But hey, we did something. We called it
a Deep Dive with JB and Sandy and we recorded
an extra podcast for you to listen to. And it's
about the death of Mariah Moe Wilson that happened a
year and a half ago, two years ago, I can't remember.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
And they were premiering the film south By Southwest.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
I think here's a little clip from that Deep Dive,
which you can get by searching JB and Sandy on
the iHeartRadio app and Jabie, you know this.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
These people I don't. I don't know. I never met
Mariah Wilson, who uh was killed, right, but everything about
her she was a promising rising star. And I haven't
watched the documentary yet.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
I can't. You should watch it. It's as close as
you are to it.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
You'll know, Yeah, but yeah, I know, I know Colin.
I ride bikes. I would see him at group rides
all the time. I'd see him at Meteor Cafe all
the time. He was real into motorcycles too, and on
they would do Monday moto nights.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
He left her house the night of the murder auto motorcycle, right, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
And so i'd see him there and I'd chat with
him all the time. I've stayed in touch with him
a note here or there, but I haven't seen him
in person since this all went down. And and I
knew Caitlin too, the one who committed the murder.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
If you want to hear more about that from a
guy that knew two of the three people involved in
the case, grab the podcast. Search JB and Sandy on
the iHeartRadio app. Look for Deep Dive with JB and Sandy.
