No Peaches, Big Laughs, and One Question You Can’t Forget—Did You Really Just Say That on Mother’s Day?

JB opens up with a painfully honest (and hilarious) Mother’s Day misstep that quickly turns into a full-on conversation about love languages, garage cleanouts, and why some people see “a future with this bag of bolts.”
Tricia delivers one of the most relatable lines of the morning while recounting a run-in with an electrician: “All I know is somehow we have to put lightning inside these wires.” It’s everyday chaos at its funniest.
The show takes a nostalgic and emotional turn with the shocking news that there will be no Fredericksburg peaches this year, sparking genuine sadness—and an unforgettable call-in from Coach Brown, who mourns the loss with a rapid-fire list of everything peach-related his household won’t enjoy. “I don’t care if it’s peach upside-down cake or peach right-side-up cake—this is a crisis,” he jokes, sounding only half-kidding.
From there, the crew dives into pop culture with what Sandy calls “the funniest thing I’ve seen on TV in ten years,” breaking down a Saturday night sketch that spirals into chaos in the best way possible. The episode also shines a light on Austin community goodness with a feel-good story about an inclusive café reopening its doors, reminding listeners why local stories matter.
The fun keeps rolling with listener interaction—unexpected food combinations you “shouldn’t knock until you try,” ranging from Frosty-dipped fries to a response that stops everyone cold: zebra meat. Yes, really.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Okay, good morning, Meg, and welcome to the JB and
Sandy Show. Wherever you guys are, and however you're listening,
whether it's on the iHeartRadio app, you're smart speaker, can
even listen on your refrigerator if you have one of
those and they have a refrigerator. But if you have
the iHeartRadio app on it, you can listen.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
One of the great hacks too, is pulling up the
app on your TV if you have really good speakers
working with your TV soundbar. I do that now.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
It sounds amazing.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yeah. If you don't have the iHeartRadio app on your phone,
you can excuse me, on your TV download it.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Yeah, just like you do on your phone. It works
the same way.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
That's very very cool. My name is Sandy. This is JB. Hello.
Tricia's here too. Good morning, and Tricia gets it started
every day. By the way, I hope you guys all
had a good Mother's Day.

Speaker 5 (00:49):
I did.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Yeah, you did.

Speaker 5 (00:50):
Spoiled brat, I got some food. Some other thing.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
I can tell you something not to do to the
mother of your children on Mother's Day is wake them
up really early and tell him let's let's go ahead
and get your loving out of the world, so you
have more time for Mother's Day.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
Don't that way?

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Do not do that? That didn't work out so well?
Huh no, Well that's the first thing that made me
laugh today, Trician. What's the first thing that made you
laugh today?

Speaker 6 (01:19):
Probably the most embarrassing thing on earth is having to
answer questions from the electrician, ma'am, where's your emergency disconnect?

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Sir?

Speaker 6 (01:27):
All I know is somehow we have to put lightning
inside these wires. Don't ask me electrical questions.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
I always think of people that are electricians. And we
had this a guy, you know, Martin. He did some
handyman stuff for us. There two things he didn't mess with.
He said, I'll mess with electricity, can't see it, can't
see it. And for some reason, would not mess with sinks.
He'd have nothing to do with a sink, but.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
He could build everything else about him anything.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Tremendous grudge against sinks for some reasons. Jamie and Sandy

your mother's day a little bit more. You started out
the show by telling us how not to start Mother's
Day by saying to your wife early.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
In the morning, make them up real early.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Yeah, and what'd you say, Let's go ahead and get
your loving out of the way.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Yeah, something like that so you can focus on Mother's Day.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Yeah, So how do they go from there? From there?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Her wish, her desire for Mother's Day was I kid
you not, and we already have a full day.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Go see my.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Mom in Lake Way, her mom in South Austin. She
wanted the garage cleaned.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
That's her Mother's Day present.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
That's her.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
That's what makes her.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
That's what that's that's her.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
The way she receives love language, I guess you know
people have their lung what love language?

Speaker 4 (02:56):
That is not mine.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
It's her love language is doing projects with you like
you as a team, working as a.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Team, and just organization just gets her excited.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
A label maker gets her turned on.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Oh yeah, she was the trapper keeper and a girl
with organization.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Yep.

Speaker 6 (03:16):
She and Ra cut from the same cloth, except I
would never ask him to help me.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
He just gets it away.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
I'd be like, just let me be in the garage
cleaning it up.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
The problem is when you go through all this stuff,
she wants to throw everything away. Yeah, and I see
purpose in so many things.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
I see a future with this of bolts.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Well, there's one time Tricia threw a nice chunk of
change of mind into the trash can from a book maker.

Speaker 6 (03:45):
Oh my god, that was like twenty years ago. And
he won't let it go.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Just got it out of the trash through the envelope

Austin is blank.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
For blank retirement for young people. I got that line
from a guy that I cooked with, Pat Brown, one
of the best drummers in Austin. Pat Brown, we worked
together Dan Mclusky's, and he sat me down one day
and he goes, JB, this Austin is where young people

(04:58):
come to retire.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
He was serious about it, right well, and this was
slacker nineties.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Oh yeah, yeah, right, yeah, yeah. So I wish I
was one of those young people that could retire. That's sure.
That was from last week in rapid Fire. Q and

Speaker 5 (05:49):
Never seen them sold anywhere else, never, have never.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
This year, sadly, there will be no Fredericksburg peaches. The
guy on three six, they won't have any produce to
sell this year.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Oh no, are the peaches jealous of the wine boom?

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Maybe maybe the pizzas are.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
Like, enough of you guys, we're here first.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah, we're not doing this anymore.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
I'm worried about the guy on the side of the
road selling him. What is he gonna sell?

Speaker 6 (06:18):
He doesn't have peaches, fuge double down on jerky more nice,
bull skulls, orange.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Skulls, yeah, stuff like that.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
I mean, I don't feel like you can just get
those just anywhere.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Who said it, I've never seen them anywhere else but
the side of the road.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
I've seen him at h B or ore Whole Foods,
but not It's not consistent.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
It's very seasonal, exactly. And my advice, I'm no business man,
but my advice for the Fredericksburg peach side of the
road guy, or any side of the road guy, put
a sign about a mile down the road.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
Creeps up too fast. They take a cue from Bucket.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Exactly, but you know, hundreds of miles. Hi, wow, Yeah, No,
Fredericksburg peaches this year. Ah sad. It's a JB and
Sandy show since ninety eight. One cave at Good Morning.
I'm a little bit nervous that you guys aren't going
to think this funny. No one listening is going to
think this funny. Because I said it's the funniest thing
I've seen on TV in ten years. It's the JB

(07:19):
and Sandy Show ninety eight. One cavet your all time
country favorites. Don't forget to stream the podcast version of
the show. It's available every day search JB and Sandy
Saturday Night Live. Saturday Night had one of the funniest
things I've seen in a long time. Here's the premise.
Matt Damon was the host, and the premise is a
married couple. They're both auctioneers and the husband comes home

(07:43):
late and here's what happened home. Honey, Bunny, Honey, Bunny,
Honey Bunny. Can I get a pop? Can I get
a hig? Can I get a hello?

Do I hear a four four four five time?

Speaker 2 (08:06):

Speaker 6 (08:07):
Mouse said you'd be home by eight eight fifteen, eight thirty,
eight thirty five with traffic.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
Now it's eleven forty five eleven fifty Do I hear
eleven fifty five five fifty five big night bowls coming.

Speaker 6 (08:18):
From the man cuts his parmed cowboy hair garland.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
It was bumper to bumper to bumper to bumper.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Got about Kinnigan nineteen, I got ten to twenty twenty,
twenty twenty three.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
That's clever. And that was Matt Damon doing Matt Damon
doing that hysterical.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
I was trying to think if he's ever done comedy,
and the only things I could think of, because I
don't think of him as a funny guy, that's hysterical. Right,
Like you said, remember he did Stuck on You with
Greg Kinnear, which is the name you haven't heard in
twenty years after Yeah, and he did a cameo in
one of your favorites, what Team America.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Oh, that's right, he does I love that. It's the
Jam and Sandy Show, ninety eight. One cavet, Good Morning,
ninety eight one cavet Your all time country favorites make
us the number one preset on the iHeartRadio. Oh man,
what a surprise.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Coach Brown is on the phone. Oh hey, Coach, good
morning guys.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
I've seen you've been pretty busy playing a lot of golf.
I follow you on social media. You're out there playing
a lot of golf. I saw you were playing with
Sally the other day and some friends and raising some
money for charity. That's nice.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Well, charity is all great and wonderful and all that stuff.
But that's not while I'm calling. We've got a crisis
on our hands.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Oh what's up.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
I was listening. I was listening to you guys are
just a bit ago, and you were telling me about
how there's no peaches coming out of Fredericksburg. Yeah. Yeah,
that was going to be beyond upset for those I
mean tantrium tantrim.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Oh well, for those that missed the information, here's what
Coach is talking about is the Fredericksburg peach.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
Yeah, frederick Burg's Fredericksburg peaches.

Speaker 6 (09:53):
We're not going to have any this year because of
the weird weather we had that late freeze drought, then
too much rain, then they heat.

Speaker 5 (10:00):
So we don't have any. That's what you're talking about, right, Coach.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Well, thanks for reminding me of the bad news all
over again.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
There, Christia. But find out you know, Sally is.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Going to be be awed upset, I mean beyond upset.
We go to Fredericksburg, we take day trips all the time.
She loves peaches more than any human on the planet,
and she takes she makes them into all kinds of things.
She's quite handy with the peaches. I mean, but imagine this.
I'll be upset because she's not happy. I'm not happy.
You know how that works. And I do love peach treats.

(10:33):
I do love peach flavored treats. And Sally makes I mean,
I'm just thinking off the top of my head stuff
from last season. She made me peach cobbler. She makes
them for the boys too. At the Longhorns. She made
me she makes me peach smoothies. You ever had grilled peaches? Yeah, yeah,

(10:54):
peach ice, cleam, peach muffins, peach torts, peach tarts, torch
aim it we got them all. Peach sorbet, peach pancakes,
peach cheese cake, yeah, shad, peach bar fei pou futter,
peach yogurt, peach popsicles. Won't have those this summer. Peach

(11:16):
upside down cake, peach right side up cake. I don't care.
We're not gonna have it. She's a wizab with the
peach peach soad pella.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Coach.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
I mean we can still get out their peaches.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
You ever had peach flavored teae?

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Wow? No idea. It's Sandy Show ninety eight one Cavett
ninety one Cavett your all time country favorites with Jam
and Sandy. I'm Sandy. This is JB. Hello, Tricia's here,
Good morning. A story we love coming up in just
a second.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
I do.

Speaker 6 (11:55):
I have a story about an inclusive cafe that opened
in the Millard neighborhood over the weekend.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
All right, that's just a secondary I find it very
funny that we asked on Facebook for people to check in,
tell us where they're listening, how they're listening on the app,
on Alexa, on the radio, and every response that we've
gotten are from people not listening in Austin. Kathy is
cruising out of Boston, heading to Halifax, Nova Scotia, then

(12:21):
down to the Saint Lawrence Seaway to Quebec City. She's
listening Tony's in Kansas City listening to us, and Pam's
into Kyle, Illinois listening to us. Not once tink in Austin.
I could jump on Facebook.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
And we're Austin peeps.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Black Wow. Just ask for a simple check I.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Don't have time to message him.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
I read it.

Speaker 6 (12:46):
But when you asked him about their first car, they
dropped everything to answer.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Yeah. If you want to check in, do it our
Facebook page search. JB and Sandy Morning Show tell us
about this new cafe in the Miller District.

Speaker 6 (12:57):
Yes, I love stories like this. Coffee shopping he stostin
the Miller District. It's focused on inclusive employment for people
with Down syndrome. It reopened its doors after being shut
down during COVID. The name of the cafe is Empowered Cafe,
specifically inclusive for people with Down syndrome. When they opened up,

(13:18):
the line was around the door, I mean around the corner.
Everybody loved coming in to contribute to so God. I mean,
it's just a great. It's great for people who otherwise
would have difficulty becoming employed to have a place that
they can go.

Speaker 5 (13:32):
And here's what I think is super cool.

Speaker 6 (13:33):
The company that owns the lease for the spot where
Empowered Cafe is is giving it to them rent free.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
Oh wow.

Speaker 5 (13:42):
Yes, they want to make sure that this is something
that is successful.

Speaker 6 (13:46):
So all of all the dollars that you make when
you go in and you spend your money at Empowered
Cafe goes straight into the cafe, not having to pay
rent and ever had costs.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Well, I like that, do you too?

Speaker 3 (13:56):
And I would tip there too, because I struggle with
like the coffee tip.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Yeah, like really I just had black coffee? How much tip?

Speaker 1 (14:03):
But with this place, with this place, i'd take care
of as I struggle with the tip. You know, the
first of June's when I stop with any round rounding,
rounding up or donating to anything. June first is when
I stop. I still tip. But when they ask you,
would you lack the round up for charity? Nope?

Speaker 5 (14:20):
Well you got a couple more weeks.

Speaker 6 (14:22):
Yeah, a couple more weeks of doing it June first,
and then after that, whenever I'm with them and they're like,
would you like to round up for the kids, And
he's like, I'm good, Wait.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
When and why did you start that? Just do you
feel like enough's enough by June?

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Yeah, I can get you get hammered all year long.
Yeah on this and so June first, I'm done.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
So what do you say to him?

Speaker 1 (14:38):
So he didn't?

Speaker 3 (14:39):
You just want to tell him why I go I
contributed till June first? That would confuse me if I.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
Pretty much he just says no.

Speaker 6 (14:45):
And then sometimes if I'm with them, they'll look at
me like that's weird, and I'm like he's already given
a lot of fine, Like I'm like, we're.

Speaker 5 (14:51):
Really we'd love to just clean up the most.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Exactly, walking up, it's just like a tornado that blows through.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
Remember the other day when he was walking out of
his studio JBT, he had his bag and he was
all knocking stuff over, banging off the door, and I
was like.

Speaker 5 (15:06):
Freaking bull in a china shop all the time.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
As the ultimate excuse, that's way God made.

Speaker 6 (15:12):

Speaker 4 (15:52):
You're like, whoa, yeah, hey, hold.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
On me too. But here are a few of them
that came in. Anna says, mustard on toast. Mustard on IM,

Speaker 5 (16:06):

Speaker 4 (16:36):

good doctor pepper and haven't had one in a long time.

Can I please have Wendy's frostyrice? Thank you?

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Yes, thank you. I'm not going to fight you over

Speaker 5 (17:11):
Oh easy there.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
Robbie, I don't think I could do that.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
Come out.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
I think I could do that too close to the horse, yeah, right.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
And kind of cuter than a horse anyway.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Yeah, yeah, I.

Speaker 6 (17:26):
Mean, I mean Robbie's really profile here and see what's
going out. Robbie would know big at a big game hunter.
A lot of dead animals on Robbie's Facebook page.

Speaker 5 (17:37):
He's a big game hunter. He's got some big ones.
