Bodyguards and Things That Already Exist

This episode kicks off with Sandy debuting a brand‑new show intro — and the crew reacting in real time 😎 — before diving into shoutouts for overnight workers who keep the city running while the rest of us sleep 🌙👏.

From there, things get personal fast as Sandy and Tricia share an emotional proud‑parent moment, celebrating their daughter’s grit, leadership, and ability to absolutely crush big goals — even if making her bed is still an uphill battle. ❤️💪 One standout line sums it up perfectly: “She’s a grinder.”

The laughs keep rolling with Rapid‑Fire Q&A with Tricia ⚡🍰 — including dream grudges, favorite Austin neighborhoods, and the dessert she’d risk a speeding ticket for.

You’ll also hear about the most Instagrammable spots around Austin 📸🌆, why Tricia might be the safest person walking into work at dawn (hint: it involves a very famous, very large escort), and a viral comparison that hilariously explains why some states struggle financially while others… don’t. 😏

And just when you think it can’t get any funnier, the show tackles Gen Z’s newest nickname — the “Christopher Columbus Generation” — for reinventing things like landlines, buses, and gardening 🌱📞🚌. One unforgettable moment? A teen genuinely asking, “Have you ever heard of David Bowie?” 🎶💀

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Okay, I finally wrote the new intro for the show.
I've been battling around in my head forever, and I
want to know what you guys think. He can give
me a thumbs up with thumbs down, but there's no
artificial intelligence in this.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
It's funny to me. I've been batting this round forever.
It's our third week, yes, forever.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
But I knew we knew we were going to be
doing this before. So I've been, you know, kicking it around.
So tell me what you think. Here's how it starts out.
Good morning Meg, coming to you live from the amazing
Nightheart Studios in the shadow of the three sixty Bridge
on Lake Austin. This is the semi popular Jamie and
Sandy Show. Find us on Instagram at JB Sandy, atx
Facebook the JB and Sandy Morning Show. If you want

(00:46):
to be a part of the show, give us a
called eight four four three nine. Oh K bet that's
eight four four three nine five eight three eight. My
name is Sandy. This is guy who likes to hang
out in beer joints when he's happy or sad. J. B.
Hagard very true, very true. To his left is my
smoking hot highly opinionated and sometimes sassy wife.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Her name is Tricia.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Hi, everybody, all.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Right, it's pretty good. All right, I like it. Jab
you'll hang out in the beer joint with you?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yeah, well you mean keeper, she's a keeper.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
No, I mean keep the intro.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
If she weren't a keeper, I'd have punted a long
time ago, for sure. Hey, you know, I want to
give a shout out this morning and the often overlooked
population of this of this town, the overnight worker, the
person who's.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
We're becoming more of a factory town. So there's probably
more third shift workers than we've.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Ever had exactly in those people. And I've worked the
overnight shift and it is brutal. Yeah, it's hard, and
a lot of security guards are out there, a lot
of convenience store workers.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I'm convinced Amazon's going to go twenty four to seven
with the delivery. We're already get that. You ever get
that four to eight am delivery election?

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:57):
Do you ever not choose it?

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Because I'm like, I don't want to make them have
to get up that or really to bring it while
choose like the eight to eleven if.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
You're sparing the driver.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah, yeah, there's a lot of third shifters out there.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yeah, lots of you guys. It's hard, very hard.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
So shout out to you people working all night long.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Tricia, what's first thing made you laugh today? All Right?

Speaker 5 (02:17):
I gotta be honest. I don't know how many more
wide legs, skinny leg, wide leg transitions I have left
in me?

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Oh with the jeans, where are we at right now?

Speaker 4 (02:26):
I don't know. We got three rises, low mid high guys.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Jean trends don't really change much.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
No, I mean, just a classic pair of Levis or Wranglers.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Has been a staple forever.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
But there was that unbearable time span fifteen is years
ago where the guys are wearing skinny jeans.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
Is it that long ago?

Speaker 2 (02:49):
I feel like they almost had to be stretchy to
pull on like he could they?

Speaker 5 (02:53):
Oh that was terrible, and an acid washed skinny jean
on a guy who.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Normally had a man bun. Two ainful, ainful?

Speaker 1 (03:03):
You know what they say I looked like in a
wearing skinny jeans, A fat guy and skinny jeans. That's
what I That's pretty much what I look like. I'll
just go with, like you said, just traditional when I
was little. When I was a kid, I used to
call what did I call them? Blue jeans? I can't remember.
I had a funny word. It just it was in
my head and then it just left. Trisha, I might
be getting there.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
I know you told but here's the thing.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
I'm with you because you told me that funny word
and I can't remember any.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Donguries gbuis gbis gebis.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
That's what I called it when I was little. Put
you g buis on and get to work. So Jamie
and Sandy Show ninety eight, one caveat man. I still
love that song. Kid Rock and Cheryl Crow ninety eight,
one caveat all. Right, Heads up, everybody, this is the
annoying proud parent moment of the show. So bear with us.
Some of you might go, that's cool though. By the way,

(03:53):
it's a JB and Sandy show. I'm Sandy.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
JB's here, Hey, good morning. Trisha's here too.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Hi.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
So, our daughter is sixteen, almost seventeen. She'll be seventeen
in about a month, and she is very, very active
in her high school Navy nj ROTC program and she
loves it.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
This is her thing.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
She's been doing it since she was a freshman, and
every year they select four of the cadets in the
program to be what they call the top four the leadership.
It's like selecting the captain of the football team, but
for ROTC. And they go through a whole process with
this where they call it they board, and they go

(04:35):
in front of a board of people. Four of them
are the past the last this year's top four, and
then the other three of the two ROTC instructors and
an assistant principal is there and they go through this
interview process where they make a presentation and then they
just get hammered with questions in there in full uniform,
and it's grueling and it's tough, and so she worked

(04:57):
her butt off. She set this goal to make the
top four for her senior year, which is next year.
She she went through the boarding process and she got
selected and she got the position that she wanted, which
is there's the commanding Officer of the ROTC. Then there
underneath that is the Executive officer, and then the third
spot is the senior chief and that makes her in

(05:20):
charge of all the cadets and she reports up to
the executive officer and then the commanding officer above her.
But what I think she likes most about being the
senior chief is that she gets to dish out the
discipline when people mess up.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Oh yeah, gosh, she decide they're going to start.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
So we're just super proud of her. This is her thing.
I mean, this is what she worked her butt off.
And she's got that great feeling of working, setting a goal,
working towards that goal, and achieving that goal, which is a.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Great delayed gratification which kids aren't used to. They want
instant success.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, and she she's a grinder. I mean, she worked
hard at it and that we're just incredibly proud of her.
That's one of two things that happened right.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
The other thing that happened to her, she is involved
in a program called Happening.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
It's the Episcopal Diocese of Texas.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
And about four times a year they have a group
of teenagers who all meet and they spend the weekend
talking about faith in God and their spirituality. And it
is a youth led program and the top person in
charge at Happenings is called the rector, and Landry has

(06:36):
set her goal to be a rector of at least
one of these happenings, and she found out yesterday and
was announced yesterday that she's happening for the next Arector
for the next happening, this coming up in September. And
I was like, you've had quite the week, Like two
huge goals that she set and in the same week
she found out that she accomplished both of them. Yeah,
And then I asked her. I was like, now, are

(06:57):
you're freaking out that you have to actually do the things?

Speaker 3 (07:00):
He's like, yes, I am right. That's great though. Yeah,
we're really proud of her.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
And everyone listens like, boy, that sounds like a really
well rounded kid. Bab bah can't get her to make.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Her bed, can't make her bed. We still argue about
rushing tea.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Yeah, still so fuzz If you're up and listening, your
mom and dad and JB two very proud of you.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
A great job.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
It's a Jamie and Sandy show at ninety eight one
k bed, good morning. Three questions for Tricia. She has
to answer them. Honestly, we'll get to we call it
rapid fire, Q and A. It's coming up in just
a second. Uh. Get your tickets to the iHeart Country Festival.
They're available ticketmaster dot Com presented by Capital One. Saturday

(07:42):
is the show. It's at the Moody Center. Tickets are available.
Is a fantastic lineup. It's one of those things after
the show, you go, man, that was awesome. That's how
I felt when we left when we went to it
a couple of years ago. Great show, Cardly Pierce, Luke,
Brian Kinge, Brown, Parker McCollum, Riley Green, Shaboozy, Dylan, Scott, Russell, Dickerson,
Gretchen Wilson, Chase Matthew, Laura, Elena, and it's it's great because.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
It is boom boom, boom boom.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
You're not sitting around waiting for the next band to
come up. One band finishes, they spin the stage around, boom,
it's another one. So get your tickets and we'll see
Saturday at the Moody Center.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
All right, JB.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Let's get after Trishia a little bit with rapid fire
Q and a sure sure first question.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Here's your first question, Tricia. You have thirty minutes to
go to your favorite dessert at any restaurant.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Where do you go? You have to go? Now? Where
do you go?

Speaker 5 (08:36):
Oh my god, I'm gonna have to drive really really
fast too, because my all time favorite dessert is at
Dahlia Cafe in Liberty Hill and it's the oh my
goodness pie. Oh my god, it's chocolate pie over coconut
custard and it's incredible.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
I got to drive fast.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Yeah, you better get to Liberty here many minutes.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
Oh my goodness pie. But in a pinch, if I'm
in town, I'm having eddiev spread putting.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
You know what.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
The Liberty Hill not as far away as it used
to be.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
No, I know they got that expressway open.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
It's like huddles not as far away as it used
to be for us where we live in Cedar Park.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
But all right, why don't you go get one of
those pies up in Livery.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
My question for you in Rapid Fire Q and A
Tricia is in five words, can you tell me what
the dream was about that made you wake up mad
at me Sunday morning?

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Yeah, JB.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
I was furious with sand in my dream, and I
had a moment where I was coming out of the
dream and I realized it was just a dream that
I was waking up. But I was so mad I
made myself go back to sleep to get back into
the dream.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
To still be mad at that were No, I.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
Was mad for a while. I had a lot of
an attitude. The five words I would describe it was
you left me waiting forever. Oh sorry, I can't tell
you what the dream was because we have that rule.
You can't tell anybody your dream.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
That's our family rule. Can't tell each other about your dreams.
No one came.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
Nobody cares about your dream.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Even when you're in It's weird. Last question, another quick,
rapidfire question. You've lived in dozens of neighborhoods in Austin
throughout your life, moved around like crazy as a kid.
What was your favorite and why?

Speaker 5 (10:14):
Okay, this will not surprise you. When I lived in Terrytown,
Well wait, I lived on Cherry Lane, my friend's station.
I rented and shared a garage apartment behind one of
those big, fancy houses, and it was amazing.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Everybody should live in Terrytown. Okay, I recommend it.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
More ninety one Cavet your all time country favorite. It's
good morning. It's the JB and Sandy Show. I'm Sandy.
JB is here.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Hello, trishas here, good morning.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
I'll tell you what tonight we're doing something you know,
have work always has like team building things and you
go to some place and.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Yeah, although I do like.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
We're doing one tonight, I'm excited for, yeah, to go
to We're going to the whole everyone here at the
radio station. We're going to the Longhorn baseball game tonight. Yeah,
at dish falk Field taking on Sam Houston tonight, and
everybody's going. And I'm I can't remember the last team work,
team building thing I was ever excited for.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
Right, I've never been to a Longhorn baseball game. It's
hard to believe, really, I just have never been.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
They're great.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to Trisa.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
You were the beneficiary of a friend whose dad had
season tickets.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
Right, Yeah, on the first baseline. Yeah, And we went
in high school to so many UT games. I think
it's why I love college baseball way more than I
like professional baseball.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
It's just so fun.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Christ is the Hey a bout about a girl who one? Yes,
I am.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
And I like to sit behind home late because I
like to see the catcher squat down.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Yeah, so it's gonna be fun tonight.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Longhorns are playing tonight at Sam Houston State at the
dish for a high today. And as we know, dis
falk Field can be the hottest place on earth. Yeah,
you can also be one of the coldest in late
in the year or early in the year, in the spring,
when that wind blows out of the north.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
So I'm looking forward.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
I may or may not see rain this afternoon. Possibly
really it'll be probably so spotty, but there's a chance.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Oh good, we'll be humid, wet and rain and wet.
Story we love is coming up next week. You have
for us, Tricia.

Speaker 5 (12:28):

What you got, Yeah, but whether or not?

Speaker 5 (13:07):
Just stepping out for spring to take some new photos,
crowd photos.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
We've got the best spots for you. Number one on
the list Ladybird Lake Boardwalk.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
That's that new one extension, new extension.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
The Wishbone is the new one. But the boardwalk, Yeah,
along the south side's been there for a minute.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
Great look at downtown.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Great look at the skyline downtown. Another one South Congress Avenue.
Obviously the cool stores on actual South Congress Avenue. But
if you stand there with the Capital behind you, looking
up North Congress, it's a beautiful photo of the Capital.
Great space to go. Zilker Botanical Garden. I had a
photo shoot there in high school with my girls. People
still do it all the time.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Beautiful.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
Let's see ladyber Johnson Wildflower Center. Maybe somebody could help
out that baby out look for it's daddy.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
His mom left too. This one is when I was
surprised at Redbd Aisle.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Yeah, the people probably taking pictures with their dogs. That's
a popular dog park. I'm always nervous at a dog park.
What I'm gonna step in rightfully? So, Yeah, people don't
pick up after themselves.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
No they don't. What is wrong with you?

Speaker 5 (14:13):
And another one, everybody, I'll Reckoni that raise this one
Laguna Gloria, the Art Museum, absolutely gorgeous.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
Right, get out there, and people always seem to get
out Jimmy, you know a lot more about photography than
I do. There's a certain time in the afternoon when
the sun is just right.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
The golden hours, what it's called, the same thing in
the morning, that first hour of daylight, the last hour
of sunset is.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
The perfect time for photos.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Yeah, I'm surprised the I Love You So Much wasn't
topping that list. Oh, it's got Oh it's a line
of people to get photos at Joe's Coffee, right.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
Yeah. And what about the tower at Circuit of the Americas.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Yes, that used to be. That used to top the
list because everyone comes in for f one or moto gip.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
That's an iconic thing, right, I've been up in that tower,
have you. It's cool? Go there.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
I don't remember, no idea. I do know I want
to go out there and ride that roller coaster, though.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Oh do Yeah, I was out there this weekend. There's
there's going to be several roller coasters. Oh, they're making more.
There's a few rides. Yeah, nothing's open. It's going to
open this summer.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Oh, I thought the roller coasters it's not open yet.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
It wasn't open. It wasn't open for the race on Sunday,
But I think their official opening is this summer.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
All right, Well, those are some of the most instagrammable
photos in Austin, so Jab and Sandy show. We're going
to go ahead and assume that you guys know that
California has big financial problems.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
The state does.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
Texas does not have really big financial problems. And Jab,
you found this clip of a guy that breaks it
down really easy to understand.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Why.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yes, And it's particularly funny if you remember the incident
with Governor Perry.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
That's what he's referring to.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Yes, it's what he's talking about, is the time that
Governor Perry was out for a run and he shot
a coyote approached him and his dog and he shot
the dog.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Now, Sue, Sue shot the coyotes, but he runs packing
heat right with us.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
And you'll hear a state issued weapon. So the setup
for this is this guy. He's given a lecture and
he's talking about why California's broke and Texas is not.
And he compares the same situation had the governor of
California been attacked or approached by a coyote, how different
it would be and how California would handle it.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
So you need to know that before you hear this.

Speaker 6 (16:29):
Coyote jumps out, attacks the governor's dog, then bites the governor.
The governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie
Bambi then realizes he should stop because the coyote is
only doing what is natural.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
He calls out, I'm a control.

Speaker 6 (16:44):
Animal Control captures the coyote, builds the state two hundred
dollars testing it for diseases, five hundred for relocating it.
Governor goes to the hospital, spends thirty five hundred dollars
getting checked for diseases from the coyote, and I'm getting
his bite wound bandaged. The running trail get shut for
six months while fishing game conducts one hundred thousand dollars
survey to make sure the area is now free of

(17:04):
dangerous animals. State legislature spends two million dollars to study
how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate
the disease throughout the world. Texas, the Governor of Texas
is jogging with his dog along the nature trail. Coyote
jumps out of Texas dog. The governor shoots the coyote
with his state issued pistol, keeps jogging. The governor has

(17:29):
spent fifty cents on a forty five caliber hallow point cartage.
The buzzards eat the dead coyote. And that, my friends,
is why California has broke. Texas is not.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
How perfect is that?

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Stick around Tricia we mentioned earlier she is the safest
woman in Austin when walking in the dark every morning.
You'll find out why coming out. Tricia is the safest
woman in the world walking at the early hours of
the morning from her car to the office. We'll tell
you about it just a second. It's a JB and
Sandy show. I'm Sandy and JB is here too.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Hey, Good morning, Tricia is well, good morning eight four
four three.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
And I know Cavett if you want to be a
part of the show, so you know, we start early
in the morning. It's dark every single morning coming into work.
But Tricia has no fear in the dark. That's a
real thing for I mean, I hate to sound sexist,
but for women in particular, it's more of a big
deal walking in the dark early in the morning.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Than it lists for dudes.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
Oh, it just is.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
I mean, unfortunately, that's the world we live in. Women
just have to be more alert and aware than men do.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Never was on my radar until my daughter, until our
daughter came along.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
Sure, you got to think about those things, you know.
Keep your head on a swivel.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
That's right, and keep your face out of your phone.

Speaker 4 (18:45):
Yes, that's the biggest sacy right, right, but.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
No one's going to mess with you. Tell everybody why.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (18:51):
I came in yesterday and I told Sandy, I said,
don't worry about me coming in from my car in
the mornings.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
And he was like, what, I go.

Speaker 5 (18:59):
I think Mark Henry sits in his car and waits
until I get here and walks in with me.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
Mark Henry is the world's strongest man. Basically look it up.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
He is a world wrestling He's a wrestling Professional Wrestling
Hall of Famer Olympian, a mountain of a man, and
he works just down the hall from us on our
sports station yep.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
And he comes in early too.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
So every morning I pull up, he's in his car,
sitting in his parking spot.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Don't know what he's doing getting ready for the morning.
I come in.

Speaker 5 (19:29):
I always get here about the same time, get my stuff,
and as soon as I get out of my car
and walk to the door, mister Mark Henry gets out
of his car and walks to the door with me.
He's done it four or five days now. And I
was like, I think he waits for me to escort
me in.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
I think he does. I think he's that kind of guy.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
I love him even more.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
Right. Could you imagine the world's strongest man walking into
work with you every single day?

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Fine, no fear whatsoever.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
And then you said something to him.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
I said to I said, this morning, I saw Mark
in the coffee room, and I go Mark, Trisha, it
was late, a little running a little bit late this morning.
She missed her escort in and He's like, oh, no, no, no,
I was there. I was in the car. I don't
think she saw me. And she got I moved kind
of slow and he got up, she got there before
I did, and I go, well, she feels awfully safe
walking into work with you, and he goes, I got.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
Her too good, She's all right.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
So I love that.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
What a great way to start your day walking in
with Mark Henry.

Speaker 4 (20:21):
Right.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Very cool. It's the JB and Sandy Show again. Just
a quick reminder nine o'clock if you want to win
those premium tickets, we've got them for you. Be listening
and a chance to win one thousand dollars at ninety
eight one k vat Oh gen Z. Silly, silly, silly
gen Z. They've got a new label.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
For gen Z.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
It's very funny. We'll get to it in a second.
It's the JB and Sandy Show. Thanks for being here.
I'm here, I'm here, I'm Sandy. This is JB. Of
course I'm here. Good morning Tricia as well. So generation
Z has got a new label, JB. And it's the
Christopher Columbus Generation.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
Gen Z born between ninety seven and twenty twelve.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
Okay, so we've got ourselves a gen Z daughter.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
That's so is mine.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Yeah, and they are the Christopher Columbus Generation because they
think they're inventing things that have been around forever. For example,
some one of them posted on Instagram, you don't we
need we need a phone that just stays at home
and we would talk to somebody.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
You just use that phone.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
That's a landline, friend.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Yeah, little girl, that's called the landline. And boy, we
were the masters of the landline with the long cable.
Oh yeah, I mean we were killers at it.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
It could cover the whole kitchen.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
Yeah. Other things that they had.

Speaker 5 (21:46):
One girl remember, got on Instagram and she's like, what
if we had like large ubers that could take like
twenty people at a time and drive them on the
same route each.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
Day at the same time to specific stops a bus routes.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
Another another one of their discoveries gen z again being
called the Christopher Columbus generation. Very tongue in cheek with
that is that if you want unlimited vegetables, plant seeds,
unlimited tomatoes, just plant seeds growing crops. It's unbelievable, right,

(22:26):
I mean, with all the knowledge that's available out there, Like,
how do you not know this that people had landlines
back in the day.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Do you guys have a team line? No?

Speaker 1 (22:39):
That was rich people had that extra line that are
frustrated parents being on the phone dedicated line. Yeah, and
your sister could use yeah, and we could hear it
ringing upstairs. Boy, you heard that thing around. You never
see us move so fast from one to get it.
And then the whole world changed when you got an
answering machine. Yeah, that was a whole different thing.

Speaker 5 (22:59):
One interaction that we had with our daughter that for
sure illustrates this is she did it, Sandy and I
both but separately. We're driving and she was like, Mom,
I really like this this singer. Have you ever heard
of David Bowie?

Speaker 4 (23:14):
Are you talking to?

Speaker 5 (23:16):
She thought they thought they discovered David Bowie TikTok.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Generation right, But think how much new music they're being
exposed to old excuse me, old music that you would think.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
They'd never hear again. Like one of her favorite songs
is Africa from Toto.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
Oh that's random, right from the eighties. And then they'll
throw one of these songs into their like you know,
one of their favorite TV show from way back, and
their becoming hits again.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
She did that with Journey Separate Ways from Stranger Things. Yeah,
that's how she knew that.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
Stranger Things has revived a few songs here and there.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
Were you into that show?

Speaker 2 (23:55):
No, I watched a couple when it first launched. I mean,
I get it why, it's pretty big, but I did
and follow through it.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
Yeah I didn't either. It's Jamian Sandy's show. A chance
for you to win, coming up at nine o'clock this morning.

Bleep! with Ana Navarro

Bleep! with Ana Navarro

Fear thrives in silence and confusion. Ana Navarro rejects both. Her voice is an antidote to today’s chaos. Her new podcast, Bleep! with Ana Navarro, takes on today’s most pressing issues with the voices most connected to it: decision-makers, political leaders, cultural shapers, and people on the frontlines of the story. The conversations acknowledge the emotions we all feel—despair, sadness, fear— but emerge with knowledge, perspective, and hope. The belief is simple: fearless dialogue can transform fear into courage, and courage into change. When fear dominates the headlines, this show digs deeper. Because information, debate, and conversation don’t just ease fear, they give us power to shape the future.
