Speaker 1 (00:04):
Okay, every day at this time, I think of the
same thing, Sandy. You need to ring write a new
show introduction. Every day I think about it. I would
ever forget to do it. I've got a little bit
of it in my head, but not much.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
You mean instead of the rooster No.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
No, no, no no no, no, like just something like
broadcasting from the shadow of the three sixty Bridge on
the shores of Lake Austin, from the multimillion dollar studios
of iHeartMedia. This is the JB and Sandy Show.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
That wouldn't it have been as sexy when they were
on South Congress. No, it's broadcasting down the street from
Hustler and the Red Rose.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Hello, everyone, welcome to the show. My name is Sandy,

I used they used to be at Penfield Plaza. Is
that right Penfield? Yeah? Yeah, And there was a I
think there was a strip joint right right at on
the street and they were behind it.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
There still is, And there's a big Hustler store now too,
which is they. You know, South Congress has been going
through a huge renaissance, so South for Southamar and then
that hustler store land. I was like, oh my gosh, it's.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Like, I know, that's so la looking dirty.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yeah yeah. I like the ones that they'll say like
triple A news stand, plenty of parking in yeah, hidden
parky like the one on thirty five.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
There's a real shady one too, when you're driving to Dallas,
like Hillsborough ish, Yeah, somewhere, a big giant one.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
I remember once driving with JB going to Bass Drop
and we're driving out there and all of a sudden,
JB goes need any porn And there's that little shady
one there.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
On the side of the right, a little tiny one.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah, just good family business, Tricia. First thing that made
you laugh.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
Today just a reminder that it is very offensive to
our culture to refer to the nineties as anything other
than a few years ago.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Please educate yourself.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
That is true. The nineties were great.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Though, nineties were good, nineties.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Were pretty great. Coming up on the show. If you
missed it yesterday, we gave you an update yesterday and
we'll share it with you again today about Chico the Dog,
the dog that was stolen from the Humane Society. Stay
with us. It's coming up. Fortune favors the bold, that's
the can he use the word stupid?
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Vague?
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Babe?
Speaker 5 (02:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:43):
What do you do with that?
Speaker 4 (02:44):
Like, it just doesn't get I want things I can
apply to my life. If you're giving me advice, right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Put this on your cold sore. It will go away.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah, that's a good example.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
That's what I want. Really really hit me in the
head with it. Yeah, because I'm we're all a little
slow on the uptake, right, So give me something I
can use, so fix. Fortune favors the bold.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Fortune favors those who play the lottery.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Oh yeah, lots of winners in that.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
That's my life hack hasn't quite paid off yet, but
I'm continually reinvesting.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Trisia's got a reinvesting Yes, yeah, Trist's got a side
hustle is a lotto business that she's She doesn't tell
me about as much as I think she probably should.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
When I say I reinvest JB. I'm a pretty solid
four dollars winner. I mean pretty regularly. I'm winning the
four bucks on the drawings. Reinvesting, I buy more lotto tickets.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
You know odds, you know, you would have a better
chance of succeeding with a video rental store.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Not as fun.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Well, you know what, JB could be a gazillionaire today.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Oh yeah, JB could.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Be a gazillionaire today. There's something happening to that JB
is a part of. He bought a ticket and he
could win an amazing prize. Find out what that is.

those things for me, I.

to record store Day all year long day. Now. Yeah,
it's like Christmas, man. You know what I'm gonna go
most some grass so I have some money for records.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Store news, some fresh records.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Yeah, man, you want to come over and listen? Coming
up with JV and Sandy.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
Guys, remember the old Trudy space on on West thirtieth Street.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
I drink a lot of alcohol in that space.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
That's when we didn't know what Marguerite has did.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
All right, that's Saint learned. Those are your training. Margerite
is right. It's been vacant for about four or five
years and somebody just acquired the property. Everybody's going to
be very excited about the new tenant.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
All right, we'll tell you what that is coming up
in the story We Love. Don't forget. Get your tickets
to the iHeart Country Festival May second at the Moody Center.
Get him at ticket Master. It's JB and Sandy on
ninety eight one kvet. Good morning. You guys are going
to be excited to hear what's coming to the old
Trudy's location on thirtieth Street. They're saying, you don't have
(05:39):
to go as far to get something anymore. We'll tell
you what that is in the story We Love in
just a second. Hey, it's the JB and Sandy Show.
My name is Sandy. This is JB. Hello, An Tricia
is here too. Hi.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Everybody.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
We'd love to hear from you. Eight four four to
three nine zero kve et or use the talkback feature
on the iHeartRadio app. All right, tell everyone, I see
this as good news.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Oh, I think it's great news.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
I think people in that West thirtieth Street are are
going to be very excited for some Blacks barbeque. Yeah,
some good barbecue in that area. They are going into
the former treaty space on West thirtieth right now, they're
on Guadaloupe Street, thirty one ten West Guadaloupe.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
It is tiny.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
Yeah, they've been there since twenty fourteen. They actually have
five years remaining on their lease. But they're like, we
got to get bigger. They're actually going to be doubling
the size of their dining room by moving.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
But you know that the whole I was confused for
a little while.
Speaker 5 (06:31):
If Black's Barbeque is the same as Terry Black's Barbecue.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
What's the scoop.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
There's like a feud with that family.
Speaker 5 (06:38):
So Black's Barbie, Terry Black's Barbecue, I believe was the
original one.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
No, I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
Black's Barbecue established in nineteen thirty two in Lockhart. That's
the one people flock to Lockhart for. They gotten a
little dispute the family did, and Terry Black spun off
his own version of Black's Barbecue in twenty fourteen. So
they are two different, two different barbecue places, right.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
So they got a barbecue fight within.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
The family barbecue fights what you got with the nephews.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
So a little little history of that location. That's where
I first learned the powers of a margarite.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Right, not always a good way either, rough and strong drinks.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
And it was trus it was true.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Yeah, a lot of time spent there. But that's going
to be a that's going to be a hot spot
on a tailgate day free game because you could walk
to dk R down there, well you could from anywhere
if you got the time.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
That'll be a hot spot pre game.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Yeah, did did that one? That Trudy's location that have
the smoking box, like the one down South Day where
the people they put a glass walls around a part
of the restaurant. If you wanted to smoke a cigarette,
you went in there.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
It was like an aquarium of smokers.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
A brown really coming up with and Sandy All right,
stick around. JB is going to be super excited about
a TV show that's getting a reboot, all right.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
I have a feeling there's some mockery involved. No, No, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
There's really not. There's no mockery at all. In fact,
I'm gonna let you listen to this again and see
if you can figure out what's coming on Netflix. It's
a reboot.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
They were all alone, you're very small against the sky
in the stars. They were happy as they were a family.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
We'll tell you what it is coming up about fifteen minutes.
Hang on, JB, call your sisters, Call your sisters and
set a date aside to get together and all of
you guys getting your pajamas because you're going to want
to watch a TV show. I believe it's July the
ninth it comes out. So JB's got three sisters, You've
got two older and one younger, right, correct, and your childhood.
(08:55):
JB and I have known each other for years. JB
had zero control over what was on television when he.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Was It was awful.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
It was awful because it was Oh, it's a democracy,
we vote.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Yeah, my sisters decided everything.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Yeah, so you never got to watch what you wanted
to watch on television. Now, so are you excited to
hear JB that there is a reboot of Little House
on the Prairie. Oh, here is the trailer.
Speaker 6 (09:24):
Once upon a time, Ma and Pau and Mary and
Laura left the big woods of Wisconsin and moved to
the prairie. They are a new life. I was waiting
for them every day. Every night was an adventure. Even
(09:58):
though they were all alone. They're very small against the
sky and the stars. They were happy. Wow, they were
a family.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
A couple of things come to mind. First of all,
that's survivor music.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Where's the That comes to mind. The second thing that
comes to mind, this is a good thing. In an
era of garbage television and Kardashian world, a show like
this coming back is good for humanity.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Wholesome TV watching.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Yes, yeah, I didn't know they moved from Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
We never really discussed where the prairie was in the show.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
I don't know where it is, Yes, I think it's
I don't know. I want to say South Dakota, but
I'm not sure. I just hope that Nelly comes back
some Mellie brutal.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
I'm not mad at pot either. I see Luke Bracy.
That's new guy.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Coming up next. Can you drive barefoot in Texas? Is
it against the law? We'll tell you next on kievat,
why do we need to know if it is illegal
or illegal to drive barefoot in the state of Texas.
What you need to know this? We went and we
got a little all in JB's truck and drove over
to the UT Law Library and we went in there
(11:29):
and we looked it up and found out this was
a thing when I was a kid, and I wasn't
living in Texas as a kid when I first got
my driver's license, and my dad said, it's against the
law to drive barefoot.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
That's what I'd learned to drive in Texas, and that
was always my understanding it was illegal.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Yeah, it's not. It's it's not illegal to drive barefoot
in the state of Texas, and nor should it be, right,
I mean, if you want to drive barefoot, drive.
Speaker 5 (11:54):
Barefoot, they said, They've always said that if you don't
have shoes on, that you that you're drive with your
toes and it's not as sturdy of a surface to
hit the brake or hit the gas, is what I
was always told.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
But I think it's just people were just making it up.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Yeah, Well, a lot of Austinites wear flops and flops
are more dangerous than barefoot I agree, but.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
I bet you anything. When you were learned to drive
over at Shady Grove with your grandpa, that was my mom. Oh,
that was your mom. You learned on the ranch.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
I learned on the ranch and my dad, my grandfather's
duly quad cab pickup truck that I had to sit
my butt at the very edge of the seat and
press the gas with my big toe so I could
see over the steering.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Wheel and probably had on flip flops, barefooted, baref There
you go home? Right?
Speaker 2 (12:38):
How I learned?
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Yeah, dirty diaper, but.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Was so Tricia. Don't forget your grandfather lost a toe
in a car accident.
Speaker 5 (12:46):
No, my grandfather when he was a little boy, was
out hunting with his dad for food. I mean it's
way back in nineteen fourteen and stuff, and he was
resting under a tree and had a shotgun next to
him and accidentally shot his own big toe off. Oh,
and so my entire life growing up, he'd come home
and he'd get in his chair and he'd say, we
take my shoes and socks off, and then he would say,
(13:07):
my toe got stuck down in there.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Can you try and pull it out for me?
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Coming up next? If you haven't heard about Tricia's animal
fantasy and the raccoons. It just keeps getting more and
more unusual and funny. All right, we'll tell you about
it coming up on ninety eight one cavet. Some people
want to go to the Super Bowl, others the Grand Canyon,
some a trip down the Nile River. Not me. That's
(13:33):
their bucket list. Not Tricia. She wants to hang out
with raccoons and feed them marshmallows. And it may happen.
It's a JB and Sandy show. It's ninety eight one cavet.
Thanks for being here be a part of the show
by coling Us eight four four three nine zero kve
e T.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Yeah, I think this happened because you've put it out
into the universe Trisia.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
And manifesting the raccoons.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
I didn't know until recently that you have an obsession
with raccoons. And then I was just scrawling through Instagram
and I stumbled across this woman who who has like
a night vision camera and she's sitting out there at
night with sometimes a dozen raccoons, yeah, coming up to
eat out of her hand in her backyard. And then
(14:15):
I looked at the name on it, and I go,
I feel like I know this woman. I think she's
a longtime listener. It's Ginny and she has so I
you know, she had a link to other page and
I go, yeah, that's a listener okay. And I reached
out to her and I said, you know, Trisha's obsessed
with raccoons, and so these two have been texting back
(14:35):
and forth and trying to coordinate some sort of midnight rendezvous.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
Because they are nocturnal, right right, It's not like I'm
going to go over there after lunch and hang out
with the raccoons.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
So what's going on?
Speaker 5 (14:46):
Yeah, she was like, she heard us yesterday. One of
my concerns was what if they turn on me? What
if I come into her backyard their domain and then
they're trying to scratch my exactly if they're spot And
so she heard that and texted me last night and
she's like, they will not turn on you.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
She's like, don't worry, we'll ease you in.
Speaker 5 (15:06):
And she said I have a special voice that I
talked to them and that keeps them calm. And she
did say she had one of her friends come one
time and sit and the raccoons were cool. For a
little while, and then they were like, we're out of here.
We don't know who this lady is.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
They just left.
Speaker 5 (15:19):
They didn't attack, they left, so I'm no longer worried
about attack.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
I want one.
Speaker 5 (15:24):
Of them, with their little tiny raccoon hands to take
a marshmallow out of my hand, and then I want
it to hold my finger. I want the little raccoon
hand to hold my hand. Do you think that'll happen?
Speaker 1 (15:37):
You realize these are wild animals we make we make
fun of people. Hear stories all the time, people trying
to pet bison at Yellowstone and they they get stay,
they get stamped, tramp or.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
The woman whose face got ripped off by that chimp.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Right, y'all, these are sweet raccoons.
Speaker 5 (15:54):
Raccoon Ginny would not take anybody into a dangerous area.
They just want to wash and eat their food is
all they want to do. We're just going to observe them. Yeah,
and then I want one to touch me.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Stick around. We got more coming up. It's ninety eight
one caveat
