🎧 “If Peter Pan Golf Disappeared… Would Austin Ever Be the Same?”

What happens when an Austin icon is almost taken away… again? 🀯 On this episode of The JB and Sandy Show, the conversation swings from heartfelt nostalgia to absolute hilarity as JB, Sandy, and Tricia react to the big news Austinites have been holding their breath for — the Peter Pan Miniature Golf lease has been extended! πŸŽ‰β›³

The crew dives deep into what that quirky, duct-tape-and-paint landmark really means to the city. From childhood birthday parties to first dates and family traditions, Sandy puts it perfectly in his unforgettable, on-the-spot “Ode to Peter Pan Miniature Golf”, complete with lines that had everyone cracking up. πŸ—£οΈ “The whole joint held together by duct tape and one wobbly brick!”

The laughs keep coming with a wildly relatable bit about dogs being way too needy (including a classic stand-up moment imagining a dog with a cell phone), followed by a surprisingly intense debate: Should you be nice to AI… or put it in its place?

Sandy’s honesty about talking to AI like it’s screwing up had the room divided — and listeners will definitely have opinions.

🎢 The episode also recaps the electric energy of the iHeart Country Festival, with shoutouts to standout performances and a reminder to “remember the name” of rising artist Chase Matthew. Plus, Sandy revels in being spot-on with his Kentucky Derby prediction 🐎 and the crew wraps with rapid-fire reflections on what they learned — including the eerie fact that lottery luck is getting very close to home. πŸ’°

Speaker 4 (01:11):
I know, And I'm like, why is it just as
weird that it's not on that corner anymore? Our daughter,
we took her there. We have pictures of her in
front of the kneeling Peter Pan statue.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
That that McDonald's Peter Pan combo was a divorced dad's dream.

It's right behind it. Yes, it's pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
It's pretty cool, very cool.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
But it's not the nostalgic right that your kid don't
care about.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
They want to go to the cool place, right well,
at least through September twenty twenty.

Speaker 4 (02:05):

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Hey, good morning, this is here, Good morning, And.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Every day at this time, JB makes a suggestion for
me to write the ode of the day.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
I know. I'm sure all you want to do is
keep talking about the Kentucky Derby.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
But we've got to move on.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
I understand, I understand if you miss not everyone shares
my passion.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Sandy picked the winner on Believable, but that doesn't inspire you.
We've talked about that a lot, but you know, we
did get a suggestion sent in. Something we've been talking
about this morning is ode to Peter Pan Golf.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Oh. In the great news from Peter Pan.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
The lease has been extended.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Yeah until twenty twenty seven, that right.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
To lease September twenty twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
And the whole city breathes aside relief that old Peter pant. Yeah,
I can write ode to Peter Pan Miniature. I don't
know if I can find a rhyme for miniature, but
I'll try, and I've got one song to do it.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
In this song, all right, stay.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
With us, I'll perform the ode to Peter Pan Golf
coming up next to ninety eight one caveat.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
My ode is done.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
It's the Jab and Sandy show at ninety eight one
cavet During that song, I wrote the ode to Peter
Pan Miniature Golf.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Yeah, you flew through that one. You had time to
go get coffee.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
I did, and I got a rhyme for miniature.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Oh wow, that's impressive.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Oh, I know that's why I do it, trash, I
do it to impress people.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
The topic suggested was, oh to Peter Pan golf. They
just got an extension again austin Ie or excited. And
that was the suggestion. You had one song to write
the entire poems.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
And I did it, and I will now perform it.
Old to Peter Pan, miniature.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Golf, Bye, Sandy Macy.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
A little more enthusiastic, But you make it say it?
What wouldn't sound right if you did?

Speaker 1 (07:41):
When I'm not at Houndstooth copy writing obscure English literature,
you can find me at Peter Pan playing golf.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
That is miniature golf.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Did it tiny golf.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
For Peter hands magic.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
It's stubborn, slick, the whole joints held together by duct
tape in one wobbly brick.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Just keep slapping new pain on Peter, Peter paint. Where's
the Peter paint?

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Peter needs be painted? Paint Peter again, byo baby. That's
the Austin way. Bring your own beer because the course
don't pay, no, get you a course six pack? Crap
CRC open a shiner under Neverland skies while your ball

(08:42):
disappears where the lost boys hide?

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Yeah, and there since nineteen eighty three. Yea ode to
Peter pin mini'ture golf.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
More coming up, it's the Jam and Sandy Show ninety
eight one Cavet your all time country favorites. That our
Country Festival Saturday at the Moody Center presented by Capitol
One was pretty awesome.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
It was a great show.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Everything from the daytime festival to the big stage at
night was great.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
I mean I by four point thirty I had my
pill just from the outside events and it hadn't even
started the true concert right.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Unbelievable, great show. Here's a little highlight from Luke Brian
a cappella.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
She was like, oh my god, this is my song
I've been listening to the radio.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
The whole show was fantastic.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
It was great seeing everybody that came out, and I
would imagine we'll do it again next year. So JB
and Sandy Show along with Tricia on ninety eight one
Cavet ninety eight one Cavet with Another Chance and one
thousand dollars from the Cavet one K cash Cow coming
up at ten o'clock.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Now, Sandy's got to be the only guy on the
planet that has this issue with AI.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Here's the question. Are you guys nice to your AI?

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Because sometimes AI, I asked a question and it gives
me something I didn't ask for.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
I'm like, this is crap. What are you doing? Are
you stupid?

Speaker 4 (10:05):
That's what you say? You'll tell the AI. What you're
telling me is crap. You don't stop.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
What's wrong with you? This is not what I asked.
I kid you not.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
I don't remember what the source was. I can maybe
try to find it again. But I read that you're
supposed to be kind to your AI.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Why it's an AI.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
I read that somewhere like I tell it please and
thank you with no Oh yeah, I do. Could you
please write this for me? Oh yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
Don't think I don't say please and thank you. But
I'm not rude. I mean, Sandy, if there's an AI
uprising or robot uprising, they're gonna remember who was cool,
if I wasn't, who bullied them?

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Yeah, I mean, I'm just honest with it.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
I'm like, like, like, if I ask you a question
and it doesn't give me the answer that I'm that
I wanted, it's something completely off face. I'm like, what
is wrong with you? Are you stupid? What you know.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
You're a rock guy, right, Yeah, I'm a rock guy.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Maybe Gronk is different. I'm a chat gpt guy.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
But mean to Alexa too though, Like he'll ask Alexa
question and if she starts giving him the wrong answer,
he'll go, shut up, Alexa.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Do you mean to Alexa?

Speaker 1 (11:10):
I told Alexa, Well, here's what she's referencing. I asked Alexa,
like what the temperature was? Gave me a five day forecast.
I'm like, Alexa, I need you to be a little
less chatty when I asked for the temperature. I want
the current temperature. You don't have to tell me the
forecast is? She means ast you a little bit?

Speaker 3 (11:30):
And did she?

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (11:32):
I feel like she was like, all right, you asked
right like it was a little bit of a do
you asked me?

Speaker 1 (11:37):
I treat her the way that I would have treated
Genie from my dream of Genie.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Well, yeah, that's what Genie. All she wanted to do
was make him happy. Wow.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
How do you feel about Siri?

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Siri?

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Same same thing every once in a while like that. Yeah,
because sometimes.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Siri, I feel like they're kind of human.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
No, that's your mit. They deserved Hey.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Like Tricia said, when there's the uprising, Yeah, we're in
good shit.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
You're on a list.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
No, I'm gonna unplug it when there's an uprising and
just be done with it.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
I think we're gonna be well past the plug at
some point.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
I just need the AI computer to know who the
human is in this relationship. It's there to serve me
and take care of me. It's the JB and Sandy
Show again. Another chance to win one thousand dollars coming
up at ten ninety eight. One Kvett, your all time
country favorite. It's a chance for another chance to win
a thousand dollars is coming up at ten o'clock with Angie,

(12:36):
so be listening. We like to wrap up the show
every day with some of the things we learned today.
Because we're smart, we learned, we learn them.

Speaker 4 (12:43):
One of the main things we learned was that the
iHeart Country Festival was amazing this past weekend.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
It was great. I mean another great show, great.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
Shoe loved it, great daytime show, great artist. It was awesome.
Another thing we learned was Sandy got his Derby prediction right.
Not just right, I mean spot on, spot on right.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Yeah, if you missed that we replayed my prediction from Friday,
and I nailed it, nailed it, and I had money on.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
It, and I want you're cheating.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
You're buying lunch.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
I will buy lunch wherever you want to go. Yeah, ever,
you weren't invited, Electrician.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
Hey, it's my money too.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Aatris is the mineficiary of my gambling winnings, but never
participates in.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
The losses debts.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
No, I didn't make that bet. When he loses, it's
all upside. That's exactly right. Also, Austin Nights we learned
can breathe a sigh of relief because the Peter Pan
Miniature Golf lease has once again been extended through at
least September twenty twenty seven, if not longer.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
Hooray.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
They gotta get that on something solid. I don't know
how much more of this up and down we can
take with this place.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
I know it's a roller coaster of motions going through that.
It's been around since nineteen forty eight. It's a rite
of passage for young kids in Austin.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Yeah it is.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
I had a birthday party there, our daughter's been there
multiple times.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
It's kind of like the place on on sixth Street
on Lamar. That just got the historic broken the spoke.
We went back and forth, broken spoke forever too, and
it finally settled. It's a historic building now they can't
do anything to it. And all you people that built
condos around it, shut up.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
Yeah, don't complain about the music, right Yeah. And finally
lotto winner in Leander. Somebody got all the numbers for
Saturday's powerball drawing and it's gonna split twenty million dollars
with someone in Georgia. And all I can tell you
is the winning is getting closer. The lotto winning is
getting closer to me. It's all around me.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
With half of the lotto winning thirty years ago, they
could have bought all of Leanders.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Have a great day everyone. Angie's in next. We'll see
you tomorrow on ninety eight one kvat
