Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is WBZ, Boston's news radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
We defining local news sixty degrees in Boston at four o'clock.
Good afternoon, I'm Ben Parker. Here's what's happening. Let's start
you off with what the roads look like this afternoon.
I mean, the roads look like they look every day.
They don't change, but the traffic, well that does change.
So let's bring in wbz's Gina Tenpesta to tell us

(00:25):
how we're shaping up on this day before Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Yeah, you know, it's really not too tough out there
right now. Been a couple of hotspots and of course
no big surprises on the Turnpike westbound, that's.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
One of the biggest delays that we're seeing. It's a
little slow.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Leaving the city west Newton through the Framingham stretch, you
have a good stretch of open roadway. Then you can
hit that heavier volle from about one twenty two to
two ninety about seven and a half miles is going
to cost you about twenty five minutes.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
And then on the eastbound.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Side of you happen to be traveling in the Millbury
stretch and we have a vehicle fire at the old
Westboro Road overpass, So that's going to slow you down there, Ben, all.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Right, We'll keep watching the traffic as we go through
the afternoon this day before Thanksgiving. If we have some
breaking news out of our nation's capital, two National Guard
members have now died after a shooting near the White House.
We get more in a special report from CBS News.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
CBS News Special reports two West Virginia National Guards members
have died in a shooting near the White House that
just now from the state's governor. President Trump on social
media says the shooter quote will pay. CBS is Nicole Skanga,
can your law.

Speaker 5 (01:26):
Enforcement officials tell CBS News that at least one suspect
who allegedly opened fire on those guardsmen has been injured
and was transported in an ambulance to a DC area hospital.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
CBS News national security contributor Sam Vinograd.

Speaker 6 (01:44):
The presidence of National Guard troops and such close vicinity
to the White House is a new ish development, being
commensurate with the President's deployment of the National Guard in Washington,
DC over the past several weeks. However, it is worth
noting that one of the highest concentratations of law enforcement
in the country and in the world is in the

(02:04):
exact location where the shooting took place.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
CBS News special report, I'm.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Their boss again. Those two National Guard troops who are
shot today in Washington near the White House have died.
Will continue to follow developments send bring you the latest
on WBZ meantime. The prosecutor who took over the Georgia
election interference case against President Trump and others says he's
decided not to pursue the case further. Peter Scandalacus took
over the case last month from Fulton County District Attorney

(02:31):
FAWNI Willis that she was removed after an appearance of
impropriety created by a romantic relationship with the special prosecutors
she chose to pick for the case. The FBI wants
to interview the six Democratic members of Congress who appeared
in a video urging members of the military to ignore
illegal orders.

Speaker 7 (02:49):
The spint Secretary Pete Hegseth has now directed the Navy

back in two weeks. As a retired captain who receives benefits,
Kelly's subject to military law and could face a court martial,
he told Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Every one of.

Speaker 8 (03:05):
Us has First Amendments speech rights, and I think the
president is infringing on those.

Speaker 7 (03:11):
Legal experts say constitutional protections would make any criminal case
against the Democrats who appeared in the video extremely difficult.
Stephen Portnoy, ABC News.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
The weather is going to improve in some ways and
not improve in others. It's not going to improve temperature wise.
We've got into the low sixties today, so it's felt
pretty comfortable outside. In fact, even maybe a little sticky.
We had kind of a Bomby feel, and a few
showers still lingering over the Capan Islands earlier. There are
still some showers out in parts of the northern Berkshires

(03:42):
and out toward New York State, so if they hold together,
they could get into some parts of the area as
we had later tonight. Otherwise, we're eventually going to get
under some clearing skies. It will be blustery temperatures forty
two in Boston and into the low to mid thirties
in the distant suburbs. Tomorrow. Here comes the chillier air
and here comes from sunshine, so a little bit of

(04:02):
both nice and not so nice. The forty eight degrees
will feel like we're in the thirties at times with
those breezy conditions. Mostly clear Tomorrow night, thirty four in Boston,
twenties in the suburbs. Sunday to Partley, cloudy on Friday
again windy, temperature is only in the low forties, feeling
like the thirties, and same deal pretty much for Saturday
as well. Right now sixty degrees in Boston. Well, there's

(04:23):
nothing like a vanity license plate to draw attention to
your vehicle. In this case, it started as a joke,
but now it's turned into an expensive problem for a
woman from Gloucester.

Speaker 9 (04:32):
Katie Eunice's house is like a Simpsons fans dream come true.
She's got Simpson's pinball, poasters, dishware, tattoos.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
So only Simpson's tattoo that I have so far, but
are most sought after.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Simpson's swag is on the front and back of her car.
I have the court license plate.

Speaker 9 (04:49):
That's Bort, Bort, Bort, if you know, you know, at
first it was awesome, but now it's becoming a major headache.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
So I got this letter. It was an easy passed
bill from the State of New York.

Speaker 9 (05:00):
Someone had put a souvenir board license plate on their car,
and because it had Massachusetts collars, Katie got the bill.

Speaker 7 (05:06):
I loged it.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
I found that there was.

Speaker 9 (05:08):
More different cars, same fake plate. Katie's bills are now
piling up.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
It's really funny, but it's causing me a little bit
of a headache.

Speaker 9 (05:15):
She is contesting it, but still waiting on a response
from the New York DMV.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Matt Sheer WDZ, Boston's news radio.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
It's had several names over the years. Now it is
getting a facelift. What started once upon a time as
Great Woods in Mansfield is now Exfinity Center and a
massive upgrade is in the works. As we hear from
w bz's Drumaholland.

Speaker 8 (05:35):
Work is already underway in Mansfield. It is the most
significant renovation this place has seen in the forty year history.
Goo Goo Dolls saw them back in the day several times.
Remember it was Great Woods. I still call it that sometimes.
I think many of you do. Official say new designs
will bring premium seating and veter acoustics. There are actually

(05:56):
several projects underway right now at the twenty thousand seat venue.
Laaney Wilson was the last year of the year.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
This season.

Speaker 8 (06:04):
Who has one big party in all? The Xfinity Center
attracted forty fans this year. While Drew mahaland WVZ Friday,
Boston's news radio CASDAYA.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
