Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is WBZ, Boston's news radio. We defining local news.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Eighteen degrees in Boston right now. It feels like six
when you walk outside. Lots of sun though. At eleven o'clock.
Happy Friday. I'm Nicole Davis. Here is what's happening. Well,
if you have to work outside today, layering up is
the name of the game. You're gonna need a sweater, hat, gloves,

(00:30):
all the layers. It is downright frigid, and we're not
moving up the thermometer all that much today.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
This is one of those days where many of us
are asking ourselves, Damn, I gotta get up read for real.
It is cold, which means it's a function over fashioned
kind of day.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Sweated jacket and fumi just some jeez, that's it, and
a sche mess.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
I said, you gotta keep check your neck. This bone
chilling windy weather will have many of us focused on
just one thing.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Getting back from the house as quick as possible as
our clock out less Right there with you in Chinatown,
James Rojas, wb Z Boston's news radio.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
And we're following breaking news this morning. A short time ago,
as CDC Vaccine Advisory Committee voted to end a long
standing recommendation that all babies born in the United States
get the hepatitis B vaccine the day they're born. The
new recommendation now calls for the birth dose only for
babies who's mother's test positive. ABC Chief Medical Correspondent doctor

(01:29):
Tara Narula says some medical officials are worried about this.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
This is about becoming a safety net that very first dose.
You know, even though we screen pregnant women for hepatitis,
we may miss some of those women who don't get
prenatal care. Some of those women may have false negative results.
They may never get their test results back, they may
never get treated, they may get infected with hepatitis B
between the time they get tested and the time they deliver.
So there are babies that are going to be vulnerable.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
State leaders and public health officials here in Massachusetts, they
will continue to recommend that baby's born in the Bay
State get the shot within twenty four hours of birth.
A former student at Harvard University filed an anti semitism
lawsuit against the school, a suit which has now been dismissed.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Joof Sagev claimed he was harassed for being Jewish during
a campus protest in twenty twenty three, two weeks after
the October seventh Hamas attack on Israel. In a viral
video that caught Washington's attention, Segev tried to walk through
a group of pro Palestinian protesters on campus. The protesters
surrounded and jostled him while yelling. Shane Segev accused Harvard

(02:30):
of failing to take any action against the protesters, but
the judge ruled Segev failed to show he experienced severe
and pervasive racial harassment. Michael Wallace, CBS.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
News and Meta. Transit police are investigating after a woman
was pushed onto the Green Line tracks at North Station.
Has happened about one o'clock yesterday afternoon. Police say the
woman in her sixties was standing on the westbound platform.
A man came up behind her, pushed her, and she
fell onto the tracks. Transit Police says she did have
some shoulder pain after this happened. An unhoused person who

(03:01):
tends to frequent North Station is being considered as a suspect,
although it's not clear why the person might have pushed
that woman. And for the weekend forecast, we'll get to
that in a minute, but let's start with today. Because
my goodness, it is so chilly out there. Temperatures right
now struggling to make it toward twenty. We are seeing
some twenties on the capin islands. Otherwise, if you're inland,

(03:21):
we are seeing mostly teens and the wind chill is
down in these single digits. A couple of areas still
below zero when it comes to that wind chill in
the Berkshires in southern Vermont. So again, we've got a
lot of sun today, but it's not going to really
be able to do much to beat that polar chill.
We have a high only in the mid twenties. Then
tonight we could have some flurries or spotty freezing drizzle late,

(03:42):
especially south of Boston. We do have this storm that's
making its way through the del Marva region snowing in
DC right now. We'll get kind of grazed by this
tonight with a lone near twenty five, and then we
could see some snow or drizzle tomorrow, with a high
in the mid thirties mid forties on the capin islands.
Sunday up the weekend, early sun gives way to clouds
and we've got highs in the mid thirties, twenty five

(04:05):
degrees in Chatham right now sixteen in Newburyport, west of Boston,
sixteen in Worcester. In Boston at eleven oh five, it
is partly cloudy where it's sixteen degrees and it feels
more like five. Another day of testimony underway in the
Brian Walsh murder trial, and as of just a few
moments ago, they are now on morning break. The jury

(04:25):
has been hearing today from a state Police trooper named
Connor Keif. He did some work as well on the
Karen Reid case. Trooper Keif has been facing cross examination
from the defense, looking for context about tracking on Brian
Walsh's iPhone device and searches he made.

Speaker 6 (04:40):
Now.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Walsh, of course, has played guilty to two of the
lesser charges against him, including disposing of his wife's body
and line to investigators. Will update you throughout the day
here on WBZ and streaming on the iHeartRadio app. In
just about an hour, we're going to get our first
look at who's playing who in the group stage of
the upcoming World Cup, and that means we're going to
find out more of out who could come to play

(05:01):
at Gillette Stadium. WBZ is Kyle Bray has a previous well.
The schedule won't be finalized until tomorrow. Today's draw does
offer a sneak peek at which nations we may see
take the field at Jolette Stadium next summer for the
twenty twenty six World Cup. Foxborough will be hosting seven
games during the World Cup, including five group stage games
along with a Round of thirty two and a quarter
final knockout game. Today, the qualified teams will learn who

(05:23):
they'll face off against during the group stages. Each team
in the groups of four will play each other once
to decide who moves on. So far, we know teams
from Group C, I and L will be playing games
in Foxborough. Round of thirty two game will feature the
winners of Group E versus a third place finisher from
either Group ABCD or F. The first game at Giallette
is set for June thirteenth. Kyle Bray, WBZ Boston's News

(05:46):

you here on WBZ, and of course, no matter where
you are, we're streaming always on the iHeartRadio app. Now

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
