Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is WBZ, Boston's news radio, redefining local news.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Thirty eight degrees under a sunny sky in Boston at
eleven o'clock, but it feels like twenty nine degrees with
a windshill. Hello, and thanks for being with us on
this Saturday, November twenty ninth. I'm Sherry Small. Here's what's happening.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
All right.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
We are tracking a snowstorm headed our way. What should
arrive on Tuesday? CBS News Boston's Jacob Wykoff tells us
all about it, and.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
This is a typical early season coastal storm, not a
lot of cold associated early season, so it's going to
struggle to produce any sort of orange tree weather for
the Capean Islands and coastal locations. Meanwhile, inland, there is
going to be enough snow that this will likely start
and finish as some snow and accumulating snow.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
At that snow or a rain and snow mix arrives
depending on where you are, Tuesday afternoon and becoming steadier
into the evening commute. All right, we have to go
all the way back to February of twenty twenty two,
to when we had some notable snow around this time
of year, when eight and a half inches of snow
was recorded at Logan Airport, all right, just in time

(01:13):
for the home stretch of the Thanksgiving holiday week, and
a major winter storm continues to take shape in the
northern planes in Midwest, forty two million Americans now under
winter storm alerts through tomorrow afternoon, forecasters calling for several
inches of snow and wind gus up to forty miles
per hour. And also complicating things further, a software glitch

(01:37):
with the Airbus three point twenty flown by many US
air carriers overnight.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
The FA issued in order to update the software on
those specific planes. We're talking hundreds of planes here, and
the FA wants that updated by tomorrow, which would be
the biggest travel day of the entire Thanksgiving season that's
happening right now, to avoid grounding any planes.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
During this time. And that CBS is Dave Melkoff that
we're hearing from there. Tomorrow Loan, the TSA expects to
screen three million passengers quickly taking a look over at
the board at Logan. According to flight Aware, so far today,
Logan has seen ninety three flights to laid thirteen flights
canceled all right. The DC shooting suspect is now facing

(02:25):
a first degree murder charge following the death of a
West Virginia National Guard member. His twenty twenty one entry
into the US likely part of a Biden administration program
that evacuated and resettled tens of thousands of Afghans during
the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Sources say Lackenwall was granted asylum in April twenty twenty
five under the Trump administration. When it comes to asylum,
when they're flown in, it's very hard to get him out,
no matter how you want to do it, it's very hard.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
To get him out.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
But we're going to be getting them all out now.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
During the war in Afghanistan, sources say and Wall was
a highly trained and trusted member of an elite Afghan
counter terrorism force partnering with US Special Forces and the CIA.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
And that's ABC's Karen Travers reporting the four DAWBC aqu
weather forecast. Despite plenty of sunshine, today is going to
be brisk and very chilly, a high of forty three,
but when you factor in the windchill, it's going to
feel much colder than that. Increasing clouds Tonight, an overnight
low of thirty one. Sunday Tomorrow cloudy, becoming breezy, some
sun in the afternoon, and then some evening rain. Highs

(03:32):
tomorrow around fifty. On Monday, brisk and chili once again,
sun and some clouds, a high of forty four. What
we're really watching is Tuesday. That's when we could see
a snowstorm coming our way. A mix of snow and
rain will begin in the afternoon and then last into
the night. That includes the evening rush hours. A slushy

(03:53):
coding to an inch expected in the city. In the
nearby northwest communities one to three inches, and then very
plowable snow in the northwest far northwest suburbs three to
six inches expected there a high of thirty eight degrees,
and then looking at the extended forecast, drying out for

(04:14):
Wednesday's sun returns highs in the upper thirties. It's sunny
right now in thirty eight in Boston, but it feels
closer to twenty five. All right, back to news. If
you're looking for the perfect holiday gift, consider a digital camera.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
Speaking to the trend of people kind of dialing back
their screen use or trying to reduce their screen use.
Camp Snap has a really great collection of screen free
digital cameras. These are cameras that you can plug in,
you can upload your photos, but they don't have a
screen on the back, so you're not sitting there staring
at your photos afterwards. Kids aren't clicking around and looking
at them. They're just in the moment using the camera.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Time Editorial Director Emma Barker there with her tips. The
FBI is out with a warning about a wave of
sk scams that are known as account takeover fraud. Scammers
contact on suspecting victims, impersonating financial institutions or law enforcement
in an attempt to steal your information in ultimately your money.

(05:13):
They target individuals, businesses, and organizations by phone, call, text,
or email. They also set up fraudulent websites. Now they
trick people into sharing logging credentials, giving them access to
online banking, payroll or health saving account sites, where they
then drain the money. In the first nine months of

(05:35):
twenty twenty five, a loon more than five thousand victims
reported being targeted, resulting in losses totally more than two
hundred and sixty two million locally. The scam has already
hit seven areas in Massachusetts. You are now in the
loop for news updates throughout the day. Listen to WBZ
