Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is WBC Boston's news radio redefining local news. Grace
Guys in Boston at eleven o'clock. It is thirty nine degrees,
but it feels like twenty five. Good morning, I'm Nicole Davis.
Here is what's happening. A major development in the investigation
into pipe bombs placed in Washington, d C. On the
(00:23):
eve of January sixth.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
This is a special report for ABC News Sam Sherry
Preston and arrest in northern Virginia related to the January
sixth capital attack. The FBI says it has picked up
a man suspected of planting pipe bombs at the headquarters
of the Democratic and Republican national parties in Washington. Here's
ABC News Pierre Thomas with more on the investigation.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Sost to tell us the suspect was arrested at his
home this morning. Thority's believe he is the person seen
on these various surveillance camera videos walking around the Capitol
wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a mask, and a pair
of Nike Airmax sneakers. The bombs were found roughly sixteen
hours after they replaced, discovered at a critical moment just
(01:05):
minutes before hundreds of supporters of President Trump began breaching
barricades outside of the US Capital.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Investigators have been looking for that person seen on the
surveillance cameras for years, and for a while they weren't
even sure if there was a clear connection between the
pipe bombs and the riot itself. This is ABC News.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
And also we're watching other news out of DC today
where a CDC advisory committee is meeting talking about a
potential change to the decades old recommendation that newborns get
the B vaccine shortly after birth. Here's ABC's Andrea Fujii.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
It's estimated that more than two million people in the
US have hepatitis B, and half don't know they were infected.
But one of the CDC committee members has argued unless
the mother has hepatitis B, newborns don't need to be
vaccinated right away. Other experts disagree.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
This comes as a dozen former leaders of the FDA
or out with the scathing criticism of claims made by
the current vaccine chief at the agency in the New
England Journal of Medicine. The former officials right that the
agency's plans to revamp how vaccines are handled would disadvantage
millions of Americans at high risk from serious infections. The
plans were outlined in an internal FDA memmo by vaccine
(02:14):
chief doctor Vina Prisad, so far has not been publicly released.
The memo claims review found at least ten kids have
died because of or after getting the COVID shot. Parsad,
though did not share any data used in the review,
including the children's ages, whether they had pre existing conditions,
or how the FDA determined a connection between the vaccine
and their death. Clouds out there today, and we are
(02:36):
going to see those persist along with some snow showers
from time and time. Today we have had a few
in northeastern Massachusetts, parts of Essex County getting into the
sea coast of New Hampshire, but it looks like right
now for the most part, we're just seeing some clouds.
Very windy out there today, really ramping up through the afternoon,
gusting to about forty miles an hour. We have a
high year forty, but it's certainly not going to feel
(02:58):
anything like that. We've got wind chills in the teens
and maybe the twenties, depending on where you are. For tonight.
That's when the real polar air moves in mostly clear,
very windy, low fifteen or so in Boston, single digits
if you're inland and the real fields are going to
be just about zero. So again, if you do roadwork
today at night, or maybe you have some sort of
(03:19):
job where you have to be outside overnight, maybe you
go to work early. Definitely time to bring out the
winter parka, grab the gloves, and also you're long John's
then for tomorrow, sunshine not really making it out of
the mid upper twenties. Could see some more snow and
rain showers over the weekend. Right now in Lawrence, it's
cloudy in thirty two. Norwood cloudy in thirty eight. For
(03:40):
the west of Boston. In Fitchburg, it's cloudy in thirty three.
In Boston right now at eleven oh five, it is overcast,
and right now it's thirty nine, but it feels more
like twenty five. Day four of testimony is underway in
the Brian Walsh murder trial. He is the cohazard man
accused of murdering his wife Anna before dismembering her body,
disposing of it and lined up police about the investigation.
(04:02):
On the stand now is a man named William Fasto.
He is a real estate broker in DC who was
said to have had an affair with Anna Courtious went
into recess for a break now. During testimony yesterday, Davis
Gold from the State Police Crime Lab talked about the
contents he investigated in a vehicle connected to Walsh and
also what was in a trash bag that was found
(04:22):
at a recycling plant in Pabady. Update you with the
testimony throughout the day right here on WBZ and streaming
always on the iHeartRadio app. The NBTA says it's investigating
an incident yesterday on the Orange Line where multiple passengers
apparently walked off a train that had opened its doors
just outside Roxbury Crossing station. According to the TEE, one
(04:42):
of those people was brought to a nearby hospital with
minor injuries. The agency tells WBZ News Radio the train
doors opened on the platform side while the train was
outside the station, but the train didn't move. As for
why the door's opened, the te says it has ruled
out problems with the train or mechanical issues. They say
the safety team is working with the operator to get
their side of the story. SKI season is alive and
(05:04):
thriving and wbz's Drew o'holland has a hint to stay alive, don't.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
Follow the TikTok trails claw. So there's been an unprecedented
number of lost skiers in Vermont's backcountry, and officials there
blame social media. Rescuers speaking at snow mountains say TikTok
videos of off trail skiers and knee deep powder are
(05:29):
luring inexperienced skiers into the backcountry. Officials say this snow
is unreliable and you can get seriously hurt. Same goes
for snowmobilers, be careful while the off trail videos can
be cool, and different officials say, don't listen to the
social media influencers on this one. It's for your own safety.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
And if you were searching online for a popular Netflix
animated movie, it turns out that you were far from alone.
Speaker 6 (05:57):
Google has released its annual year in Search list, and
Charlie Kirk and K Pop Demon Hunters were the top
two in the US in twenty twenty five. The Boo
Boo government shutdown and tariffs were also high on the list.
Pedro Pascal was one of the top searched actors and monster.
The ed Gen Story was one of the top search
TV shows. I'm Sorry, Model. The list covers the top
(06:19):
trending searches of the year, not the most searched Jed
and Clark CBS News.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
