I'm Sherry Small. Here's what's happening. The heat wave continues
again today going.

To be a very humid day, a sticky day with
temperatures climbing into the low to mid nineties.

And that's WBZTV meteorologist Lexi O'Connor forecasts coming up in
traffic and weather on the threes will tell you when
we can expect a cool down. The Charles River Esplanade
will be jam packed for the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular tonight.

The blazing temperatures couldn't keep some family from getting cozy
in the shade or the night before the Boston Pops
Iconic Fireworks Spectacular, a beloved tradition going fifty two years strong.

Goes here in nineteen seventy six. That was there I
graduated from high school, so it's it's like a fifty
years later, I'm here. That's the same concert. It's pretty cool.

The Boston Pops concert starts at seven o'clock tonight. The
fireworks start at nine point fifteen.

The search is on for a missing person following a
boat crash in the waters off Salisbury. That boat crashed
on the jetty at the Salisbury Beach State Reservation at
about ten thirty last night. Two people were rescued and
taken to local hospitals. No word on their conditions. One
person is still unaccounted for. The US Coast Guard, State
Police marine unit and air wing searched overnight and are

set to search again today. The Salisbury Jetty is a long,
rocky wall that stretches into the mouth of the Merrimack River.
A seventy four year old Falmouth man is arraigned after
allegedly leading police on a chase and striking a state
trooper with his car. Earlier this week, Armando de Leone
facing several charges, including assault and battery on a police officer. Now,

police say de Leon almost struck emergency personnel while driving
in the breakdown lane. When authorities caught up to de
Leon and ordered him out of the vehicle, he allegedly
sped up and hit a state trooper, dragging that trooper
several feet. The trooper taken to a local hospital with
minor injuries. De Leone is due back in court on

August fifth for a pre trial hearing, and now a
quick check on the weather. A heat advisory is in
a factory eight pm tonight. We're going to see a
lot to deal with today, sun cloud, the breeze, humidity,
with a thunderstorm or two into early tonight. Those thunderstorms
can be heavy and gusty. Highs today ninety two to

ninety six, but with the humidity the acue. The real
field temps are going to come in between one hundred
and one hundred and five later tonight, partly to mostly cloudy.
It's going to be another warm one sixty eight to
seventy two or the overnight lows. Tomorrow begins a cool
down and less humid. We'll see clowns in some sunshine,
highs seventy seven to eighty one. Monday even cooler. We

will see some rain, especially in the afternoon, but the
high only reaching seventy three. Even cooler Tuesday, with a
high of just sixty eight. All right, eighty eight degrees
right now in Boston, plenty of sunshine at eleven oh five.
All right, Boston still feels like a sauna. But if
you're in the ice cream game, this weather is your cash.

outside Boston Public Garden, and ice cream truck is sitting
and waiting for customers like it does every day when
it's stupid hot outside.

Gus isn't letting this heat to him, even though he's
basically baking like a sardine in a Middleton Canon wheels.

But it's not the worst we've had in this city,

But that's because the hot weather means lots of business
for an ice cream truck guy.

I sell hundreds of ice creams on a day.

I asked about the best seller during a heat wave
like this on a hot.

Day, I have to say the frozen lemonades. Those go quick.
They keep people cool. And the ice cream as well,
you know, soft serve, it's good.

I mean, it's been on like thripping down their hand the.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Second they take it. I tell people, you know, you
should probably eat that quickly if you choose to get
a cone. But most people don't have a problem. You know,
they go in the park and they get some shade.

Today isn't just the anniversary of the founding of our nation.

Speaker 6 (04:41):
Today also marks two hundred years since Presidents John Adams
and Thomas Jefferson died on the exact same day. The
nation's second and third presidents died hours apart from one another,
fifty years after signing the Declaration of Independence. To commemorate
the anniversary, Secretary of the Commonwealth Bill Galvin says the
state is offering free tours of Adam's burial site until
four o'clock today. Adams is buried alongside his wife, First

Lady Abigail Adams, his son, President John Quincy Adams, and
his wife, First Lady Louisa Catherine Adams, at the United
First Parish Church in Quincy. The Commonwealth Museum also has
a new exhibit that explores the relationship between Adams and Jefferson.
There's a special viewing of that exhibit until three o'clock today,
during which visitors can get a look at the state's

Police in Randolph and Avon issue a warning to the
public with a black bear spotted in the areas over
the past few days, forcing the closure of a park.
Randolph Pully say on Wednesday, the bear was seen in
the area of West and Fowler Streets. Avon Animal Control
posted a photo on Thursday of a bear drinking from
a hummingbird feeder. All Right. Residents report also seeing it

near Route twenty eight in North Main Street on the
Avon Randolph line. Animal Control says that residents in the
area should secure trash barrels, keep a close eye on
their pets, and removed bird feeders. You are now in
