under mostly cloudy skies in Boston this morning. It's thirty
four degrees here in the city. The News at six
is brought to us by your New England Toyota Dealer,
your Hybrid all wheel Drive headquarters. Thanks for being with
us today. I'm Jeff Brown. Here's the wind up and
(00:32):
now the pitch.

eyes near fifty. It'll cloud up tomorrow. Is WBZ Ackty
Weather meteorologist Joe Lundberg. Again, a high of fifty today.
We do have some showers moving in just before the holiday,
but much colder air to round out the work week.
You can make it nine wins in a row.
Speaker 5 (00:48):
Books, please him, goodbye, Marcus Jones.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
The call on CBS Sports says the Patriots tame the
Bengals in a game dominated by injuries on both sides.
Monday Night football is up next for the Patriots. Bilbi

win for the Celtics over the Magic at the Garden

(01:13):
are now off until Wednesday night. A former soldier believed
to be the last surviving member of World War Two
in Massachusetts has died. Marris Casso, who grew up in Roxbury,
Long said a key to a long life was family,
and his family says Maury Casso, died at a senior
living center in Canton earlier this month, just before what
(01:34):
would have been his wedding anniversary with his wife. Casso
enlisted in the Army shortly after the Japanese attack on
Pearl Harbor back in nineteen forty one. Casso has survived
by his wife, sons, nine grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
Maury Casso was one hundred eight. All right, now it
gets real. Thanksgiving is just three days away, and if
(01:55):
you really want to shock to the system, how about
this just thirty shopping days left till Christmas.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
You're welcome.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
First things first, I'm sorry, Laurie. The first things first,
the cost of Thanksgiving dinner for you and ten of
your closest friends and family is now down for a
third year in a row. That's according to the American
Farm Bureau, it's going to work out to be about
five point fifty a person this year. And with that,
let's talk turkey prepped.
Speaker 6 (02:23):
Getting everything prepped and ready for Thanksgiving can be stressful,
especially when it comes to the turkey, but it helps
to have someone on top of things.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
At my house we're hosting.
Speaker 7 (02:33):
I should say my mom is hosting at my house
because she's there doing all of.
Speaker 6 (02:38):
The work, which is great for Gene, who's traveling back
to the DC area after visiting Boston. She sent us
pictures this weekend of things that she was already prepping.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
And buying and kind of getting things.
Speaker 6 (02:48):
Ready, including the turkey, which began thawing out on Sunday.
It's something. Luca, a foreign exchange student from Italy, is
looking forward to yes my first tim on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
I'm sick excited about that.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
I can't wait to spend time with my hus family
and charity turkey.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
So I hope that we're not going to burn it. Honestly.
Speaker 6 (03:06):
At South Station, James Rojas WBZ Boston Snooze Radio.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
We're off to a mostly cloudy start here in Boston.
We've seen some isolated areas of some precipitation this morning,
both rain and freezing precipitation, especially north of town. But
it's cold everywhere and that's the reason for it.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Today.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
It's thirty four right now in Boston. All things considered,
this is going to be a nice day today. Once
these clouds burn off this morning, are going to see
mostly sunny skies, windy conditions, highs right around fifty later today,
clear early tonight, than increasing cloudiness as we drop back
into the thirties in many areas overnight tonight. It's going
to be a mostly cloudy day unfortunately tomorrow with highs
(03:44):
and the lower fifties. We are looking at some rain
steadiest mostly overnight tomorrow night, and then more showers hanging
around on Wednesday too, and the timing is really not
all that great. It won't be much of a deluge,
but still any inconvenience to one of the bigest travel
days of the year, which would be Wednesday, is going
to be in the form of showers and that'll hit
(04:04):
us during our time to get away. Highs on Wednesday,
though pretty mild right around sixty. Breezy sunshine returns on
Thanksgiving Day. Highs not really out of the upper forties
right now in Boston thirty four and mostly cloudy as
we get started on this Monday morning. It is six
oh six who says romance is dead.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Don't just skimble.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Dating apps want you to be the best you with
the help of artificial intelligence.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Many users have expressed frustration with dating apps, but now
the big names like Tinder and Bumble are trying what
startups are doing deploying AI.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
One new one is a.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
Low a Loo incorporates AI in a way that it
helps you feel seen and introduces you to you first
to create a profile for you.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Lea Jianni is Alo's founder, trying to draw distinctions with
more established apps.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
They've been really formulated around attractiveness and likes and gamified algorithms,
but you can't do that with the matters of the heart.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Users only see others with at least seventy percent compatibility.
Steve Kith and CBS need one of the busiest travel
weeks of the year something to be aware of this.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Morning, following an increased US military presence off the coast
of Venezuela, several airlines have canceled international flights to that country.
This comes with a warning from the FAA just before
the weekend of heightened military activity in the region. The
United States has sent the world's largest and most advanced
aircraft carrier, the gerald Ford, along with several other warships,
(05:35):
to the region as the military continues its assault against
what it believes are drug smugglers and their vessels. President
Trump has also authorized the CIA to conduct covert operations
inside Venezuela. And this week, as you pass around that
turkey and the Thanksgiving table, you might also be passing
around the Christmas wish listdvzs Drew moholland there is something
(05:57):
we all should know this year. Getting a jump on
the holiday season.
Speaker 7 (06:01):
You should know I have a well crafted list already
to go.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
You do. I am very I am very surprised.
Speaker 7 (06:06):
Yeah, I am in need. This year, I figured holiday
shoppers are digging deeper into their wallets. A new survey
finds that seventy eight percent of those so called holiday
staples gonna cost more this year than last. Nalyst Sarah
Foster says the best thing you can do is get
out there and shop early. Try and take advantage of
(06:27):
those early holiday deals because companies are likely to pull them.
Speaker 5 (06:31):
They're probably not going to offer as many discounts as
late into the season as many holiday shoppers saw last year.
Speaker 7 (06:37):
And there goes my whole shopping play.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
There you go.
Speaker 7 (06:40):
Late shopping not the thing this year. People plan to
spend American's one trillion dollars from gifts and decorations. That's
the total number here in America.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
A trillion.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
To hear that, you know how much that works out
to per person? No, about a thousand bucks?
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Yeah right, yeah, one thousand dollars. I tell you right now.
I'm not spending two thousand. We're definitely bringing that curved down.
Maybe maybe I am because missus B does the shopping.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
What is your secret Santa?
Speaker 1 (07:07):
No, that was more silent. I've already spent my thousand bucks.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
You are now in the loop For news updates throughout
