It may take a bit longer to get to their
holiday destination, but for these folks heading to Pennsylvania and Maryland,
they'll take railcars over actual cars and planes any day.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
It's a lot easier just to hop on the train.
I can bring liquids I already have, like my food
and everything. I don't have to go through security. It's
like a lot easier just to like hop on the train,
and I think time wise it kind of evens out.
But I'm excited. You know, the seats will be comfortable,
I'll be able to watch my movies, so I'll be
able to sleep.

I have no complaints.

Millions of Americans will be frying a turkey this year,
but you do you and if you need help in
the kitchen, never meet themmet handy and not one of
those pop up ones that will help you. Know that
the turkey is at least one hundred sixty five degrees
when you serve it. Penn State food safety expert Mary
Alice Gettings says you should also make sure the stuffing
is it one hundred sixty five degrees or higher, And
(01:55):
she says stuff the bird at the last minute and
loosely so you don't dry out the Christopher Cruz CBS
News too many rules. Teenage football stars start to speak
this week at Fenway Park. It's high school football returning
to America's most beloved ballpark. Three games on tap today.
Newton North and Brookline will kick off the festivities at
(02:17):
one thirty, followed by Plymouth South and Plymouth North and
then the nightcap Lexington against conquered Carlisle. In the opener

big stage at Jillette Stadium too, And with these Thanksgiving
high school games, communities really do come.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
Together Thanksgiving traditions and rivalries. Nothing better in these parts, right,
Maybe you have your tailgate or the extended family is
in town to watch the big game.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
You know.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
The mayors get involved with a lot of these high
school football games too. Newburyport Mayor Sean Reared and newly
re elected by the Way. Congrats, but he had to
pay off a bet last year. It still stings. After
the Newburyport Clippers lost to Amesbury.

March in their parade and downtown Amesury dressed head to
toe in Amesbury gear and hold.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
A sign with the score of the game.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Oh it's incredible.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
I mean you're talking about schools. I've played against each
other over one hundred times, so I think it's what
makes New England specials. My parents grew up with it,
my grandparents grew up with it.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
All these big coffs to come, so very exciting. Drew
maholland WBS Boston's News Radio.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Oh, it is an incredibly busy day. This is one
of the most exciting days as families finally come back
together again and then they're probably tired of each other
by mid afternoon tomorrow. But getting there. It's all about
the journey, right and today the journey will be relatively
quiet here in Greater Boston. If your plans take you
away from this city with a vehicle, we can expect
(03:45):
some wet roadways this morning, with high temperatures eventually getting
to around sixty degrees. We do have some showers in
the way throughout the day today, but the steady rain
from overnight is pretty much gone. If you're headed to
Logan Airport, just a handful of delays on the board
right now, but if you are elsewhere, like the Upper Midwest,
you could be in for it too. There are blizzard
(04:05):
warnings in much of that region of the country just
before the holiday. But it's going to be relatively quiet here,
nothing more than just a couple of shours later on today,
and the clouds will deliver some more showers in the
early hours tonight before we start to slowly clear out.
Lows will drop into the forties Tomorrow. We don't get
out of the forties, but sunshine returns and a cold
blast of air sets up shop for the rest of
(04:27):
the holiday weekend. Right now in Boston, cloudy skies and
fifty four here in the city six oh five this
Wednesday morning. It's the windiest year yet in Boston, and
it keeps the pace in November strong. How windy is
it well? The average wind gust speeds all this year
stand at thirty miles an hour. That's the first time
(04:50):
a year to date wind gust tops that magic number
and or hits that magic number. So far this November.
It's even windier, at thirty seven miles an hour. That's
six miles per hour stronger than last year and now.
The Globe did a comparison study to include other major
cities throughout New England and it's not just us in Boston.
These other cities are equally windy as well. College student
(05:12):
from Babson has been detained at Logan Airport and has
now been deported to her native Honduras. Anna Lucia Lopez Biosa,
was about to board a flight to Texas in hopes
of visiting family for the Thanksgiving holiday when she was
taken into custody by immigration officials. The Globe reports Bosa
was taken to the ICE facility in Burlington before being
whisked out of the country. Her family says they were
(05:34):
never notified and only learned of the girl's fate when
authorities in Honduras tracked them down. Meantime, White House Press
Secretary Caroline Levitt's former sister in law detained by ICE
agents in Revere. Several arrests have been made following a
robbery in Norwood. Police say the suspects were wearing face
masks and lifted an e bike, clothes and shoes before
(05:55):
making a run for it. Officials say they've tracked down
two juveniles and a woman who had troubled with the
law previously. Police work is not done, as officials also
tracked down three weapons hidden in a nearby home of
one of the suspects. Another no show for the Superintendent
of Schools of the Whitman Hanson School District at the
school committee last night, where parents want heads to roll
(06:18):
one after another. The frustration comes with calls for Jeff
Simonak to be fired or resign his position for not
facing the music following a decision to lay off dozens
of staff workers to close a surprise million dollar budget gap.
The teachers' union has already taken a vote of no
confidence against simon Ak. You are now in the loop
for news updates throughout the day. Listen to WBZ News
