But you're gonna be able to get to.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Us instantly, and if it's a good enough message, you
might even hear it on air. All right, Mark, let's
get right into this conversation because there is so much
to get into. And as always, whenever we start to talk,
SEC media days and you talk SEC, it's got to
be about the Texas Longhorns and what they have been
able to do. But one of the biggest things that
(02:31):
everybody was excited about last year, and you have a
close connection to this because you've had family members that
went to this university, was the rivalry against Texas A
and M. And of course you know both coaches were
new to the rivalry. Well Elko had been there before,
but then you get in there and now Sark he
(02:53):
gets a chance to experience it. And Sark talked about
being able to play Texas A and M again.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
That was that was awesome.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Lone Star Showdown was was a really cool environment and
uh great atmosphere and Kyle Field, Uh night game a
lot on the table, not only just the rivalry in itself,
but the winner of that game was going to get
an opportunity to play in the SEC Championship.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
And like I said, it's a.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
It's one that I'm glad we've been able to to
get going again.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
It's a historic one.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Great matchups, great teams, great players, great coaches, and so
like like like any rivalry, for me, I'm humbled and
honored that I get to be part of it now
because as a kid, those are the ones you watched,
right and you got a chance to see those games
on Thanksgiving weekend between Texas and A and M, and
so to be part of it now it's pretty special,
you know. And and now to have the Aggies come
(03:48):
to dk R for the first time and I don't
know how long is, it's pretty special. And I'm sure
there'll be a lot riding on that game too Friday night,
you know, after Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Can you hear what coach starts at what he's saying?
He said the Red River rivalry. That's not what he said.
He did, So now you can't say red River shootout.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Hey, I could say what quiet I'm hunting wabbits.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
I can say what I want to say. I'm not
gonna be walking around here. Sounded like Elmer Fudd. Did
you hear him? Did you hear the way he sounded?
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Well?
Speaker 3 (04:21):
How did he sound?
Speaker 6 (04:22):
He sounded like he was going to hood webbits. I'm
not gonna be the one to do it. You got
me masked up. Just focus on the R not the
rest of it. Just say rivalry you how about this?
How about right now? You say it Red River Rivalry.
(04:42):
Say it again, Red River.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
No, no, no, no, I want you to say it
like you normally talk. I would say Red River Rivalry. Yeah,
I would say, saying three times. Yeah, I'm saying it
three times. Now you changed your die elect multiple times.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
My representative was speaking.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Representative was speaking for you. But here here's the deal.
When you think about that rivalry, and as I said,
you had family members that were a part of it
in the heyday, it is one of the most influential
games you could say, in the state of Texas. And
(05:26):
we'll hear from Mike Elko a little bit later, but
the definitely draws a line in Texas football. Yes, you know,
the only other team would probably be Oklahoma, but they're
not in the state exactly.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
That's why they do it at a neutral site.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
This is a game that both fan bases get a
chance to spew their hatred for the other. You know,
last year it was one of those those those places
to where it was like do I want to go
to that game? Do I want to go to Texas
A and m oh I did not. That's why we did
(06:02):
at watch party at the Thompson Hotel. We did not
want to go to that game. Now this year will
be at the game.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
It will be.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Something because we're in the friendly confines.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Just didn't know what all those people were gonna be.
All the bad things in life happened to you and
nobody else but you.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
I mean, it's just certain things that you just look
at and you say, wow, Now, I'm not gonna do that.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
But speaking of that, Coach Sark also.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Talked about the fact of he was asked about being
at the Iron Bowl versus playing in the Cotton Bowl,
and now that he's the head coach of the University
of Texas, there is no comparison.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
I think that the Red River Rivalry is a unique
game in and of it that it's a neutral site
game in Dallas every year at the State Fair, and
the way the stadium is split at the fifty yard line,
one tunnel, both locker rooms right there. It creates a
great deal of intensity. Uh, It's an awesome game to
be part of. In my opinion, it's the best one
(07:04):
I've ever been a part of. And that's to take
nothing away from the iron Ball, because that's amazing too,
but different in that it goes back and forth home
game to home game.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
I do know when.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
You're when you're at Alabama and you go to Auburn,
probably the toughest place to play in the country. You know,
in that game, in particular, as an opponent going into
Jordan Air Stadium, it's one of the loudest things I've
ever heard, And so that creates its own challenges that
way too.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
So it's a great game.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
I think rivalries and college football are what make this
thing so special, and the fact that I've been a
part of some great ones, man, and those are two
of them. But but I've just been fortunate that way
to be part of some really cool ones.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I mean, it's the truth.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
I mean, the atmosphere at both of those games. We
just talked about what it's like at Texas A and M,
but we all know what it's like when you are
at when you are at the Cotton Bowl, right drawing
the line right down the middle. The expectations of both
fan bases thinking that this is their year every year,
(08:07):
and somebody ends up leaving a little bit earlier than
the others because of the way that the game is
going at.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
That particular time.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
So you start to understand that when when these fan
bases go at each other. That's exactly what they're doing.
They're going at each other because there is no tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
There is.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
You're gonna walk out onto the fairgrounds and you're gonna
be bumping shoulders with the.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
People that you either beat or beat you.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
And so it's not a fun, fun situation and it's
kind of chaotic to me, perfectly.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Honest, fights and stuff. Oh yeah, they still do. They
still do. I didn't see a lot of that this year. Well,
you kept it moving, kept it moving.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
We did the show, and it was like, let's get
up out of here.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
I'll tell you this much.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
I hope that they figure out a way to get
everybody into the stadium, because that is the worst time
ever is trying to get into the stadium. We end
our show an hour before game time, and you still
have a chance to miss the kickoff because so many
(09:18):
people are trying to get into the stadium and they
have they're supposed to be upgrading, they're supposed to be
fixing all of this, but the fact of the matter
is it still sucks to try to get in there
because of how how crazy the situation is in all
of those all those times, so it's just crazy to
me that we think that, but I do say this,
(09:41):
it is one of the best times ever, is it
being at the Cotton Bowl. I've never been to the
Iron Bowl, so that's that's Alabama's deal.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
But being here and being.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
At the Cotton Bowl, well, when we were there, we
went through the list of the games that they say
are the greatest games in college I think they're making
some adjustments on them that I think they change in
some of that.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
We're gonna get into it a little bit.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Later, but Okay, yeah, they're gonna they gonna they're gonna
change the way those things now. The SEC Yeah, because
everybody wants Texas to be part of the what is
it the thought process of the rivalry because everybody's talking
about in like five of the exactly, Well, because everybody's
(10:24):
trying to make it like Georgia. They're saying Georgia now
because Texas hadn't beaten Georgia, that's their rivalry. That's not
a rivalry. They won't play enough, like they've been.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Playing like three They played like three times in their history, right,
they just played teams one hundred times.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Yes, And so when people start saying things like that,
you start to understand and try to figure out what's
next when you look at these with these teams. So
for me, it's like, all right, let's figure this thing
out and let's try to get things going.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Yeah, I'm I'm excited about this season hard because all
the implications that lead toward the conversation that we're talking about,
like I want to see Texas and Georgia as much
as I want to see Texas. Oh you, because of
how fresh this pain is at loss. I need to
get this loss off my Jim, Well, you.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Hold on, hold on to a player, hold on to
oh now, come on, man, I'll say that, hold on
to it.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Coming up next, we're just getting started here on the
Morning Kickoff on sports Radio AM thirteen.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Hundred The Zone.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Coming up next, we're going to continue to hear from
coach Sark as he talks about some of the players
that he's seeing grow in such a fast passion. We
also go talk about TJ walking his dollars, and Micah
talks to one of your friends, the Undertaker, and we'll
talk all about it right here on the Morning Kickoff
on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Welcome back to the morning Kickoff.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred the Zone.
Coming up in our number two, we have Deuce Vaughan
of the Dallas Cowboys at eight o'clock. We also have
lifetime Longhorn and legend Legend Kat Osterman joining us at
eight seventeen. You do not want to miss that she
(12:10):
and her team are playing at the Dale Diamond as
the AUSL have made their way to Central Texas and.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Over at the Dale Diamond.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Obviously you can get over there and enjoy some bud
Light and some michelob Ultras. As you know that the
Dale Diamond is exclusive with Brown Distributing.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Yeah, absolutely, they got bottled water.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Coming up in the next segment in the Hard Knocks Life,
we will talk TJ. Watt getting big dollars and what
does this now mean for the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
We will talk all about that.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Will also give you a chance to win a pair
of tickets to go see Alice Cooper a little bit
later and Judas Priest of course, but right now I
want to continue the conversation with Coach Sart. Coach Sark
has done an excellent job recruiting Mark. You came in
this morning and talking about Da Bell and all the
things that are going on with the recruiting in that
(13:06):
class and thee They keep getting commitments from the top
players in the country at each position, which is pretty exciting,
but as well, and I think.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
About it, is like I told.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
You you still need Yeah, it's they hadn't even started
dying the ink yet, so they're trying to figure out
if you want to do a black pen or a
blue pen. One of them gonna be used. But the
fact still remains you have to be out front, and
I think Texas is doing more, uh quality over quantity.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
You don't want what you need, don't don't just get
so other people don't have exactly. So Texas has done
a good job of that. And one of the players
that has caught the buzz, and you talk about him
often is Justice Terry, Justice Terry and case y'all hadn't
seen his pictures.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Yeah, my man is put together rather well.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
What'd you say, six five sixty six, Yeah, two hundred
and seventy pounds and he's like eighteen, like he's he's
not a man yet.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Yeah, Like when he when that dude touches nineteen twenty.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
He he really could be six', six maybe three hundred and,
ten three hundred and fifteen, pounds but it's all cut.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
Up.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
YEAH i mean he don't HAVE i guarantee.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
YOU i look at him and out of, EXPERIENCE i
would say that he is probably around ten percent body,
fat AND i mean he can get probably.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Five but there's no. Need he's a defensive. Tackle we
want him to be. Meaty, yeah he's gonna need to do.
Something some rocks in his.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Pocket, well Coach Coach sark was asked About Justice terry's
development AT sec Media.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
Days, yeah Justin justice has been a great. Addition you,
know he's got you, know high work, ethic high, drive
loves the game of. Football he gives some real position.
Flex you, know he's a guy that can play you,
know some interior defensive, line but can also play you,
know kind of defensive end. Force and so that position,
(15:10):
flex that position versatility has been good for, us AND
i think that's going to allow us an opportunity to
get him on the field quicker because he can do multiple.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Things.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Well and think about This, mark you know as well
AS i. Do there's a lot of cross training that
goes into Coach sark in his, development what he does
with different players and how he gets.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
There so me.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Thinking about, that it goes to, show like he, said
how we gonna get him on the, field and what's
the best position we can get him on to get
him on quick where he doesn't have to. Think you
talked about how young he. Is the maturity. Level sometimes
you want to eliminate a lot of that until you
can get a little bit more.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Advanced but if you have great, instincts then that nullifies
that whole. Situation, yeah and we talk about position is
basketball all the. Time, well The New york proved that
you can have.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Positionless defensive line when they put together that race car,
package you know where they won two Super.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
Bowls Like texas has the ability to do.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
That they have enough guys that are in between guys
and just big athletic freaks of nature that they can
put units out, there like three guys Like Justice terry.
Size even though they're not three hundred, pounds they still
can get the job.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Done then they can move around as You Stephen burke.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Is like my favorite out of all of them because
he's six five sixty, six you, know two hundred and
seventy five pounds and he gets that lean coming off
the edge and he can play every.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
Position. Yeah, yeah he's a, special special type of.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Guy and since we're talking about the size Of Justice
terry and all the offensive linemen and defensive, line excuse.
Me one of the things that Coach sark really has
emphasized is the size of the wide receivers in the.
Cornerbacks that's been an important part of the recruiting process
of being able to match up and, remember iron sharpens.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
Iron.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
Yeah, no it's been a little bit intentional of recruiting
a little bigger at the wide out. Spot you, know
one thing about this, CONFERENCE i don't want to say that,
underestimated but you better have one or the. Other you
better have elite speed or you better have some size
about you because it's so physical on the perimeter and
(17:24):
everybody's throwing perimeter. Screens the corners in this league are
long and physical and can. Run and so if you
want to be, effective which that is a part of
our game that we want to be effective at of
getting that ball on the, edge you've got to be
able to block these, people you, know and if you
can't block, them they're going to run right through, you
and it feels like a wasted. Play you, know you're
second and. TWELVE i could have ran a dive you
(17:46):
know to do. That and so we felt like we've
had to evolve a little bit that. Way, Obviously wingo
provides That Emmett moseley's got some good size to, Them Jamie,
french you, Know Collik, lockett those, guys so you, Know Parker.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Livingstone SO i think that that can help.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Us so it was a little bit strategic that way
to do that on the defensive side of the.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Ball on the flip, side the same.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Thing you better be able to stop these perimeter screens
or or people will kill you and walk down the
field on. You but if, so you've got to have
the physicality to do. That but then if you're going
to play close to, them now you've got to have
the ability to run with them and to play in
that and coverage that. Way and SO i think that
we've grown in confidence as a staff to play more man. Coverage,
(18:30):
uh even when we're playing, zone we're giving the players
some freedom to make calls to play man and we're
and we're promoting that with them to do, that and
so it's a it's a lot easier to get to
the quarterback when the quarterbacks got to hold the ball
another second longer because his, receivers you, know trying to
get himself open versus man coverage when it's zone and
(18:50):
everybody's getting free. RELEASES i don't care how good your rush.
Is if the quarterbacks you, know worth half a. Paint you,
know he can to get the ball, out you, know
so you gotta you got to be able to place
some man and mix it up and change up looks
to get a guy to hold out of the ball
to try to get.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
To the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
HARD i feel LIKE i keep repeating it so much
that it should come.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Redundant but that's Why mosley is.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Here that's Why mosley is the best blocking wide receiver in.
College and then you bring in. Injuries who's a really good.
BLOCKER a lot of people say he may be the
best blocker That texas has since Back and you, Know
beck was my favorite tight end that played For texas
in the recent. Time so, like if you have guys like,
(19:37):
that And Parker livingstone is six to, four like two hundred,
pounds two hundred and twenty pounds and that guy is
going to be leaning on these cornerbacks and slot. Corners
texas running game is going to be better because they
have guys at the wide receiver that could. Block not
(19:58):
as good as the offensive, line but they're gonna put
guys on the ground every now and.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Then the running back is gonna get a free. Run,
yeah he's gonna get a.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Lane so if we can get these running backs to stay,
HEALTHY i DON'T i don't know if we're gonna have
to worry about Arch mann and doing a lot of running.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Well and that's the thing that we've talked about. Before
the game plan For texas is going to be a
lot different than people. Think, Right it's gonna be different this,
year and that you, know the hype is real with
Arch granted he can throw the deep. Ball we've seen
some some pop on, tape but every once in a,
(20:35):
while you, know you got them running backs behind. You
we got a thousand yard rush hand. In, yeah give
him the. Rock we saw What weisner can. Do and
by the, way did you notice That Tray weisner is
wearing number five this?
Speaker 3 (20:46):
YEAR i. DIDN'T i didn't know what's going. ON i don't.
KNOW i.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Think you, know people are having a tough time with
it because Of.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
BEIJEON i WOULDN'T i wouldn't want to wear like A
Ricky williams number Or.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
Bjon. NUMBER i, MEAN i don't create create a new.
Number people be wearing.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
That, well he looked good in the other. Number big
numbers look good on the running. Back you know them
single digits you got you got to have that fast with.
You you Get Reggie, bushet you know What i'm. Saying
so so we'll. See but you, know when people look
at number, five they take A Jeremy. Hills you, KNOW O,
God Jay. Hills you know What i'm. Saying they doing
some big things over. There but, yeah you, know you
(21:27):
start to look at all these teams and What texas
is starting to, build and you look across THE sec
you truly truly understand what it's all. About and it's
gonna be a lot of fun coming. Up but coming up,
next T. J watt gets. Paid what does this mean
For Michael parsons And? Mark why do The cowboys keep doing?
(21:50):
It we'll talk about it on the other. Side right
here on they feel Good, Friday, well And i'm feeling
that good when you see this money right here on
in the morning can up On Sports RADIO am thirteen
hundred The. Zone don't forget coming up at the top
of the, hour we will Have Deuce bond joining us
(22:10):
of The Dallas, cowboys followed by legendary Lifetime longhorn Kat
ostraman talking about AUS L. Softball that is A Thedell
diamond this, Weekend so make sure you get over there and.
Support last night there was five thousand to seven thousand people,
there so they had another, great great turnout. There BUT
(22:32):
i want to get into this conversation BECAUSE. Tj watt
became the highest paid none quarterback IN nfl.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
HISTORY.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Tj watt is a little bit older Than Michael.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
PARSONS.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Tj watt signed a three, year one hundred and twenty
three million dollar extension for forty one and the average
of forty one million dollars in new.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
Money the beautiful part about.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
All of this is he's got one hundred and eight
million dollars guaranteed at.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Signing so when he put.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
His name on that dotted, line he gonna get an
alert From United Heritage Credit. Union he, said, oh money
is in the. Bag the why is? It my brother that.
Is that is a, beautiful beautiful. Thing he's a Perennial
Defensive player of The year. Candidate he's a, special special.
(23:34):
Player he's in the same division As Miles. Garrett but
he has been the total, package the fact totum of
the fact, total the fact totum of what it is
to be playing for The Pittsburgh. Steelers he has done
(23:58):
an amazing job when you start to think about his,
consistency and there's been reports analytics that says when he's
not on the, field they don't. Win now that they've
got this contract, resolved you look around THE nfl and you,
say who's. Next, well we've talked About Trey, hendrickson another
(24:22):
defensive end that plays for The Cincinnati bengals that is trying.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
To get his.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
Payday looks like that's not happening anytime, soon because you
know why The bengals move.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Slow you know who else.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Moves, Slow Dallas, cowboys The Dallas cowboys and throughout, time
and we've had multiple conversations right here ON am thirteen
hundred The. Zone we've had multiple conversations about how The
Philadelphia eagles have done, Things Howie roseman has been ahead
(25:00):
of the. Curve when it comes to signing, players it's
called what is it? Projections you look at a player
and you look At Mark henry and you, say we
need to sign him to our roster AT WWE wwf
at the TIME wwe BECAUSE i see the potential of
where he's gonna, go because he showed me that he
(25:22):
is this type of.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Person so let's get ahead of it and give him.
Speaker 7 (25:26):
A ten year.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
Contract let's lock it down. There let's lucky he can't go.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Nowhere we can raise, him we could give more, money
but he with us for ten. Years, right cowboys, decide
let's let the market continue to. Rise where do they
do that and continue to be the laughing stock because
you're not being ahead of it and the story comes. Out,
(25:50):
Yesterday Michael parsons did a podcast interview with Your Guy.
Undertaker taker did a good job with this and he, Asked,
michaeh where are we at with your?
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Contract how are we coming along with the? Contract? Man
can you talk about? It because LOOK i. Listen, yeah,
drink get a drink of. Water, yeah that's not a good.
Speaker 8 (26:14):
Sign we obviously want to get done. Early we want
that relief off our. Backs But, obviously ownership is always
gonna make a drag, out make, it make it more complicated.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Than it has to.
Speaker 9 (26:23):
Be lack of communication in that.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Standpoint but you.
Speaker 8 (26:26):
KNOW i just always Say god has me this, far
he ain't done with me, Yet so you, KNOW i
just just keep, working keep.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
Going and then when it, Comes i'm gonna be. Ready
but you, know it ain't gonna be no drop.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Off it seems like to me like they would want
to get it done because there's a few other contracts
out there.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
You're going to probably say what you're gonna get end
up getting.
Speaker 8 (26:47):
PAID i would never understand that we wanted to do
the contract last. Year it's just kind of like we
want to DO da AND cd and then you go
out there perform, again and then you, know you would think,
like all, right we'll get it done. Early we know
there's some guys is about to get ready to get,
repaid like my you, Know max is, going so you
would think, like, hey let's get ahead of, that you
know WHAT i. MEAN i just never, understand you, know
when guys come into the league and they're consistent and
(27:08):
they you, know they perform, well why they got such an.
Urge but then there's guys that just have one good,
year maybe two good, years and it's just.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
Like they get it right.
Speaker 8 (27:15):
Away and now even now you GOT tj And max
and all these other guys is getting paid and you
can't want.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
Us to take less because you just wanted to decide to.
Wait you, know you know, WHAT i. DON'T i don't
have any doubt you're gonna get what you deserve to.
Get AND i can't wait to for you to do.
Speaker 10 (27:31):
That.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
Man, man, Listen micah laid it.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Out they came to The cowboys, early told, you let's
make this happen sooner then.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Later why would you let your star say something like,
well it seems like if you was consistent that they
would pay. You but you, know people come in new
and they give them their money right, away and that's your,
lawyer that's your.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
Agent they need to.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
Standing Jerry jones, say, listen the next time that we
have a conversation is gonna go up ten. Million i'm
gonna put this out there right now and if, that
if that conversation goes.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
To, bed then we won't resign with The.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Cowboys you might as well trade him because you're gonna
get zero for, him we're gonna play out ourdeal and we're.
Leaving then they signed it and will get the.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Oil but the thing is they they went to him,
first they went to. You we could have set the.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Market that is why The cowboys always continue to be
behind the curve when it comes to. This we see
we are where we are, now we where our feet.
Are and The cowboys got to get out of that
habit of not paying any.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Advance but now it's not even about the money that's
being spent. Elsewhere it's about the fact that they allowed
The cowboys to.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
Dictate when he's gonna get.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Paid he should have gave them ultimatum a long time last. Year,
well he's still under, contract so you can't give him an.
Ultimatum you're still under. Contract he's still on a good,
deal so he has to he has to. Wait then
then he should just, say you know, What i'm just,
gonna you, know play out my deal next season and
(29:29):
Then i'll be an unrestricted free agent and you deal
with me. Then but it's gonna be another five to
ten million dollars more because now the market is.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
Higher that's why h.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Said you messed up by not coming to me when
we came to.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
You, Now i'm not going.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
BACKWARDS i can't go Back you're gonna end up having
to trade. Me you're gonna end up having to do something.
Extra this is where they have messed.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Up they continue to mess up.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
Everybody you got a, wife everybody is gonna. PAY i,
mean it is what it. Is and so sometimes you
sit there and look at this and you, say we
have to be able to get this, done and they have.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
Messed us up.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Completely coming up, next we're gonna go and talk a
little bit ABOUT sec media. Days we're gonna give away
some tickets and we also Have Mike elko talking About

Speaker 3 (31:31):
ROW i want you to listen To Mike.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Elko Mike elko the had football coach talking about his.
Quarterback so the whole time we were trying to figure
out why teams don't bring their, quarterbacks we heard From
Billy lucci talking about there was just something else that
was going on and they just didn't believe that they
needed to Bring Marcel. Reed he said that he was
(31:55):
going to be the starting. Quarterback but here Is Mike
elko echo in those, words.
Speaker 11 (32:01):
Gosh so, much so, much you, Know we're so excited
to see what he's able to do this. YEAR i,
think you, know he got thrust into some some really,
tough some really difficult situations last, year and you, know
now he goes into this year as the clear.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
STARTER i think he did a really good.
Speaker 11 (32:14):
Job of taking the steps he needed and her for
learning the, game learning the, offense learning how to study.
Defenses AND i think you're just gonna see him be
an absolute difference maker this year for The.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Agis and that is why they believe that The, aggies
who is sitting at seven and a half wins seven
and a half Wins. MARK i Think i'm gonna take
the over on, that because what are they perennial eight and?
Fourteen so why NOT i take The i'm gonna take the.
Over i'm going To vegas next week And i'm gonna
put it.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
Down i'm gonna go do.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
It but we also got a chance to listen To Eli.
Drinkwitz Eli drinkwitz is the head coach Of missouri and
he came out to the media and it was kind
of hilarious when he said what he said to the
media about the question is he's not going to answer.
Speaker 5 (33:05):
With THAT i know there's a lot of burning questions
in this room by the fourteen of you all that showed, Up.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
But just as a, Reminder.
Speaker 5 (33:14):
I'm not going to answer any questions about The epstein,
files whether about the radiation, belt and whether or not
it was possible For Lee Harvey all's wall to get
three shots off in seconds to seven. SECONDS i don't
have time to answer all those, questions BUT i will
answer questions About zoo. Football AND i would be remiss
IF i didn't Say.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Bob holt was.
Speaker 5 (33:33):
A graduate of The Missouri school Of journalism and we
missed him today and we think about him, often and so.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
With, That i'll open it up for.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
QUESTIONS i was, like, wait, what he just went out
there and went right in on. It but you, know
if you have paid attention To kentucky, football stoops had
something to say about drink wits and not wanting to
answer any.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
Questions thank, You.
Speaker 12 (34:00):
Greg first of, ALL i know why Coach drink has
a reason to not talk about certain. Things So i'll
keep that between myself and him and a few.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
Colleagues but you.
Speaker 12 (34:14):
Got to keep an eye on Old drink there.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
Whole drink to keep that boy he likes to have
a good.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Time let's say he was In, atlanta he was having
a ball one got him some.
Speaker 3 (34:29):
Wings, yeah it was.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
Hut it was an, interesting uh interview because the one
thing THAT i was looking at during this time was
the fact that they, SAID i want to thank all
fourteen of.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
You, yeah after.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Saying that two hundred and fifty people that was there For,
sark he was got in the feelings a little.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Bit, yeah it was a little bit. Interesting oh so
only fourteen people showed up at.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
Me, yeah it was a different kind of feel when
you start to think about how the. Crowd that's WHY i,
said when those conversations start to happen and you start
to look at what moves the needle in a very
calming type of. WAY i Saw Josh, pate who does
a great. Job he Does Pete. Steak he is one
(35:21):
of the guys that everybody gets a chance to talk
to a, lot and he covers the league a. Lot
he talked about the fact that How sark was moving
around DURING sec media days.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
And he was slick with.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
It they said he was basically looking like a mob
boss walking through everything because of every opportunity that he
had he would shaking somebody's, hand but he was making
moves in. Quiet he was taking two guys From georgia
top recruit. Recruits on the same day That georgia was
speaking AT sec media, days Was josh saying it was
(36:02):
it was impressive to see the way That start handled
himself in the way everybody was wanting to. Kiss they kissed,
him you, know, kiss they kissed the. Ring so that's
what he was implying during that. Time SO i just
know this as we get ready for the football, season
(36:25):
all the preseason, talk all the nonsense of this and
that that's gonna be out the way they go to
camp in two, WEEKS i mean next. Week by next,
weekend everybody will be starting their football. Camps UH nfl
has already done. That they start this. Week but all the,
(36:45):
nonsense all the, talking all the preseason, height it's gonna
come to a head, real real. Soon and and this
is the type of atmosphere THAT i continue to want
to believe In because we talked about THE sec the
moment That texas was coming into, It Coach shark started
(37:07):
building from that five and seven year to be at
this point right. Now so for everybody that has questions
and the jabs and the money. Situation there was a
on three was talking about how much money was being.
Spent texas was number, One Texas tech was number.
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Two they talk about endless.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Amounts look quality over quantity will always be the. Motto
it seems like for The Texas longhorns moving.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Forward like you said, earlier don't.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
Just grab somebody to grab, somebody stay locked in to
what's going.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
On Un let's get ready to.
Speaker 10 (37:49):
Run.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
Preach, yeah it's it's it's, inevitable it's. Inevitable, yeah just lock.
Speaker 7 (37:59):
Just like.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
That coming up, next we Got Deuce vaughan of The
Dallas cowboys talking, camp talking K, state and of course
gotta talk about.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
My, Quarterback Dak.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
Prescott right, Here, oh good, morning kickoff on a.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
Field Good friday.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Edition of The Morning kickoff on Sports RADIO am thirteen
Hundred The.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
Zone welcome back.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
To our number two of The Morning kickoff right here
on Sports RADIO am thirteen Hundred The zone and hour
number one we heard from Coach sark talking about The Cotton,
bowl talking About, TEXAS a AND.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
N we also know THAT.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
Tj watt got paid And Micah parsons is popping bottles
because he about to get paid. Too we also talked
About Eli, drinkwitz and.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
We Have Mike elko talking About Marcel.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
Reed but right, now coming up in the next, segment
we Have Lifetime longhorn And Lifetime Longhorn Legend Kat osterman joining.
Us but right now we have our, Guy Deuce vaughan
running back.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
Of The Dallas.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
Cowboys i've been working hard to Getting deuce on the
show And i'm just thankful that he had the time
to jump on with. Us, So, duce how you doing this, morning?
Brother i'm doing, good.
Speaker 13 (39:11):
MAN i appreciate you a'll taking the time to allowing
me to come on and. Speaking i'm super excited for.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
TODAY i love. IT i love. It So, duce let's
get it right into.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
It because the story of you being drafted by The
cowboys has been well. Documented now we moved on past,
that BUT i want to go back to K. STATE Kse,
state you showed, out. Bro every time we got a
chance to watch you. Play we kept, SAYING i hope
The cowboys get. HIM i hope The cowboys get. Him
(39:39):
now The cowboys got. Him but when you were at K,
state you love playing against The Texas longhorns because you
always found a way to show out against.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
Them.
Speaker 13 (39:48):
Man, uh it was always a big time game whenever
we played Against, texas WHETHER i was at home or
or down here back In, austin you, know being From,
austin it was always a little bit of a chip
on my shoulder for myself playing against. You and THEN
i mean it's great ballplayers from The texas. Lawnghorse every
time you came on the football, field you need to
have to battle your butt off all game if you
wanted to try and win that football. Game unfortunately it
(40:10):
went on and three again, fat but it was always
a battle on. Man it was some of my favorite
games playing because of the atmosphere and just how big
of a game it.
Speaker 9 (40:20):
Was so looking, back, man those are always good.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
Times.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
Dudes you have your idea where you want to, Be,
like is there a specific style of running that you
won't do you run to run like zone? Read do
you want to run out of a kind of a
spread type of? Offense what is the best design place
for your?
Speaker 13 (40:43):
Abilities for, MYSELF i feel like despite, size despite my,
Statue i've always been just a running back that can
go and play any any.
Speaker 9 (40:52):
System.
Speaker 13 (40:53):
MAN i prided myself on it in, college AND i
worked my butt off on it for the past two
years in THE, nfl just to get better one one day.
Speaker 9 (41:03):
At a, time you.
Speaker 13 (41:04):
Know and Uh, so no matter what uh they call
or whatever scheme it, Is Tony powler would always, Say,
man you call, It i'll haul.
Speaker 9 (41:12):
It and that stuck with me for for a very
very long.
Speaker 13 (41:14):
Time, so uh, man, Anything, MAN i feel LIKE i
prob myself to be able to run in between tackles
outside because any running back that wants to be, great.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
You have to be able to be.
Speaker 13 (41:23):
Versutile Uh, So, man going into this training, camp it's
gonna be a big thing that THAT i not only work,
on But i'm gonna strive to, do is just running side,
outside whether that be, counters whether that BE gt, plays
whether that BE uh, traps whether that be power that'd
be tosses to the, outside preimter, schemes and stuff like,
that just to dive it into all of.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
It so there was a report that you have been
kind of cross training as a a kind of a
slot wide receiver playing and running. Back obviously kickoff return punk,
return but for you learning a little bit more each
step of the way that gives you a little bit
more versatility and more.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
Options If i'm not mistaken correct.
Speaker 13 (42:03):
Absolutely especially in this, league you won't be able to
do as much as possible special teams onto the football.
FIELD i just help your team win and whatever role
that you can, find and for, myself like playing a wide,
receiver getting into that room and learn from some of
those guys in there and be able to do those
things outside of the backfield is another way to just
add value and help your team be. Successful so WHENEVER
(42:25):
i was approached with, that that's actually this past year
and a little bit more this. Year WHENEVER i was
approached with, that MAN i. WAS i was down to do.
It caught the ball a little bit at K state
and SOMETHING i love to. Do so WHENEVER i was
approached with, THAT i was ready to go and work
my butt off.
Speaker 9 (42:41):
That throughout THE OTAs mini camping now through the. Summer that
the side of the camp next, Week.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
Dude I'm I'm I'm i'm a fan now of Coach
shatty and everybody's, saying how this guy's done a. Lot
what is the thing that you look at the most
that he's, done that he's brought to this team that
has changed the focus and made The cowboys quiet but
(43:06):
also more of a together.
Speaker 13 (43:09):
Team, Yeah i'd say the, communication the, love the passion
that he has for this, game but also the passion
he has for the. Players there's an energy in the
building whenever you walk inside of it that it's hard
to put into words just exactly how it makes you.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
Feel.
Speaker 13 (43:24):
Man every single day that you go into the, building
you know you can compete against your, brothers but you're
also gonna build a foundation and a bond together through,
fellowship through the things that we do in the meeting,
room through things that we do on the football, field
the competing and the ping pong tables and the books
that we have, inside and you're able to really build
(43:45):
a foundation together and Throughout mini camp and OTAs them
bringing that energy him and the entire country staff and
only kept us engaged when we hit that football, Field,
man everybody's out there, flying having. Fun and when it
comes down to, man we're playing the sport that we lost.
Speaker 9 (44:00):
Kids so, uh.
Speaker 13 (44:01):
For them to bring that that type of, energy it's it's, huge.
Man So i'm. EXCITED i know that everybody's ready to
go And i'm excited to the only thing that we
can do now gout here and play some.
Speaker 9 (44:12):
Ball, Man that's what we're.
Speaker 3 (44:13):
Saying how are you doing in all these?
Speaker 2 (44:15):
COMPETITIONS i heard that there's so much team building going
on and. Competition he was that that he preaches, compete,
compete compete every?
Speaker 1 (44:24):
Day what is what are you winning? At, like don't tell, us, hey,
look don't fudge, NOW i will find. Out what they
gotta do is hop on that ping pong. Table, man
it's some competitors off in. There SO i swear anytime
we go off in that locker, room we helping that
people on.
Speaker 13 (44:40):
Table immediately from From micah to that uh Jan Ye
thomas is pretty.
Speaker 9 (44:45):
Good uh man to Coach shefley's got some.
Speaker 13 (44:48):
Game we got a whole bunch of dudes in there
playing on that ping pong and we had a little
basketball free throw competition, throughout just like The, okay SO
i wasn't involved in, that.
Speaker 9 (45:00):
But Sam williams end up winning that.
Speaker 13 (45:03):
One and, uh it's just really big every days to
come in and compete in a fun.
Speaker 9 (45:08):
Environment. Man so we we we we embrace all of.
Speaker 2 (45:11):
It, Well I'm I'm i'm very proud of the fact
That I'm I'm i'm a Lifetime cowboy fan And Micaeh
parsons reached out to me a few months ago and he, Said, hey,
uh Big, MARK i found your illegitimate. Son, Uh Mazie.
Smith do you do you Think mozzie looks like?
Speaker 5 (45:33):
Me?
Speaker 9 (45:34):
HEY i? Do?
Speaker 3 (45:43):
Hey when when.
Speaker 1 (45:45):
He told, me he, said, listen, man you need to
come and pay up on your child, Support AND i was, like,
man stop, it.
Speaker 9 (45:52):
Listen, man you're both strong. Too it's a lot of
similarities going on. There, man.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
We're talking To Deuce Van, Dallas cowboy and.
Speaker 1 (46:00):
Dudes you know you've been doing a lot coming back
to the community and doing some.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
THINGS i know your Father chris is.
Speaker 1 (46:06):
Doing some things With Anthony williams and being able to
kind of help these kids understand what it's like to
get to the next level and the work that needs
to go into. It, so if you had to give
a kid advice about not only your stature but the
work ethic that needs to go into, it what would
you say to a young man that is trying to
(46:27):
get to that next.
Speaker 13 (46:28):
Level, yeah the biggest THING i would say is it's
going to take a lot more sacrifice than you. Think
let's be able to going to do what you want
to do and be do it at a very high.
Level there's the reason why there's only so many players
that play in THE nfl and only so many people
that are if you want to be A ceo of
a company and things, like there's a reason why some
(46:50):
people they're able.
Speaker 9 (46:51):
To sacrifice and put THESE i guess what's the.
Speaker 13 (46:55):
Word i'm looking for these things that you can have
right now to the, side understanding that life for the bigger,
PICTURE i have to be able to do these things
and be.
Speaker 9 (47:02):
Disciplined.
Speaker 13 (47:03):
Uh and then of course the work after has to
be through the roof anytime THAT i was in high,
school college and even getting to this. Level my mantras
being a little bit of an undersized cat has Been,
man you got to be the toughest player on the football.
Field you gotta be the hardest work in the weight,
room and you got to be the most diligent and
most player in the meeting. Room and, like you have
to do it every single. Day you can't miss a.
(47:24):
Day you don't have the you don't have the luxury
of luxury to be able to Say i'm gonna take today.
Off don't have. It and NOW i MEAN I i
literally every single.
Speaker 9 (47:40):
Day that's how it will go about my.
Speaker 13 (47:42):
Business, uh just understanding that IF i only give myself the
best chance to be able to be. SUCCESSFUL i have
to be. Disciplined you can some days you wake up not.
Motivated your discipline has to be.
Speaker 9 (47:52):
Greater than your. Motivation every single. Day you have to
be ready to.
Speaker 13 (47:55):
Sacrifice so those times when you're in high school and
kids want to go to the pool AND i got

(48:58):
be on here for an hour talking About, Dak but
what is it in the simple form Of Dak.
Speaker 13 (49:03):
Prescott, yeah everybody sees the player That dak is unbelievable,
Talent but inside that locker room and inside that, huddle
he's a cat that instills confidence and every single player
inside that huddle because of his.
Speaker 9 (49:18):
Leadership it was about his.
Speaker 13 (49:20):
Business WHEN i talk about, discipline you see it every
single day From Dak, prescott talk about doing it right
and putting himself.
Speaker 9 (49:28):
Into repositions to be successful every single.
Speaker 13 (49:31):
Day it's motivation for not only myself and everybody inside
the building because of the way that four moves and
as a, quarterback as a leader of a football, team,
man he is the guy that is what you want
in your. Leader whenever it's that player he's on the
side of the stadium is.
Speaker 9 (49:47):
A reason, why you.
Speaker 13 (49:48):
Know and, Man i'm super excited for his camp BECAUSE
i feel like injured this past, year so it's hard
to really be like old man the year. BEFORE i
mean that he was AN mvp. Candidate that's the type
of player that he. Is and, Man i'm super excited
for this upcoming year just, because LIKE i was, saying
(50:09):
that person that he, is man, LIKE i mean even this,
summer like we talk about building a connection as a football,
team and we talk about building a community in a.
Speaker 9 (50:18):
Brotherhood he's been at the.
Speaker 13 (50:19):
Forefront he's been the guy that's been, uh he's been after,
that he's been the driver.
Speaker 3 (50:23):
Seat.
Speaker 7 (50:24):
Uh.
Speaker 13 (50:25):
Excited, man he's brought us together not only an, offense

Speaker 7 (51:38):

Speaker 3 (51:45):
Mark henry And.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
Mike so when we play this, segment we gotta let
the music ride.
Speaker 3 (51:50):
Out just a little, bit just so you can hear our.
Speaker 1 (51:52):
Name we can hear our, name because we like to
hear our names every once in a. While but it
is with a great honor that we have Lifetime, longhorn
Legendary Lifetime, Longhorn Kat austraman joining. Us and let me
just tell, You, kat before we get all the way into.
This this has been something That i've wanted to do
for a very very long time BECAUSE i played a
(52:15):
little fast pitch softball in my day AND i always
try to tell PEOPLE i would have struck out. Too
don't worry about.
Speaker 3 (52:22):
It But, kat thank.
Speaker 7 (52:26):
You, First thank you the first male athlete.
Speaker 1 (52:29):
To admit, That, YEAH i, AM i, Am me And Coach.
White you, know me And Coach white we could do.
That we're not afraid of. That we're. Comfortable we're. Comfortable
but thank you for joining. Us we're all excited to
have you. On and you, know When i've watched the
video of you and your joy of Watching Texas softball
win that national, championship and you know the, blood sweat
(52:52):
and tears that you put into this. Program you wanted
to get, there you wanted to make it, happen and
for to watch you enjoy that made everything to. Us
i'm so thankful for you to have that opportunity to
enjoy it as.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Well, yeah thank.
Speaker 15 (53:09):
You it was a little heartbreaking that being, there but duty,
called obviously with my general manager role WITH, ausl AND
i had to be at our kickoff party because we're
doing pretty big things in the pro space for. Softball but,
yeah you, Know i've been fortunate always been close to
the program there At texas SINCE i, left but closer
in the last you, know four or five years SINCE
i stepped down At Texas state And Coach, singleton the
(53:32):
assistant coach are well now associate head coach. There you,
know him AND i formed a friendship and he basically was,
like come around whenever you, want and you, know people
kind of like you weren't able to do that before
and it was just. Different But i've been super, close
and you, know my kids stay in the office during
games and all that jazz, now so it's kind of
(53:52):
not on staff but part of it sometimes it feels.
Like SO i was really excited to see the staff
and the girls just finally bring that. Home and you, know,
again like you, said spent a long time coming for
the program and all of us that have helped lay
the foundation and just built over. Time you, Know Coach
clark did a great job of building a very competitive
program nationally And Coach white has just elevated. That and so,
(54:16):
YEAH i WAS i was literally trying not to. Cry
it didn't it didn't. HELP i still cried and for
just being proud and happy for.
Speaker 2 (54:22):
Them cat you you you mentioned kind of what you're doing,
Now can you explain to our, listeners, like like what
your role is now and what you're doing With, joseph
because you're doing really big things and we love it
when we Hear Texas longhorns leave the playing field and
go into the.
Speaker 3 (54:41):
Boardroom.
Speaker 15 (54:42):
Yeah SO i was part Of Athletes unlimited DURING covid
and that's when it, launched and its original model was
more of a fantasy based. System so we played and as,
players we drafted our own. Teams we earned, points and
so there was an individual leader at the end of it.
Speaker 7 (54:59):
All the team aspect was still really.
Speaker 15 (55:01):
Important but after four years of, that the fans and
the players alike asked for a more traditional format where
we have four teams and they don't rotate and they
don't change and they get to play a season out
with their actual. Team and so ausl Is athletes a
limited softball league and that is our traditional four team
format right. Now it'll expand the six teams next. Year,
(55:22):
actually so we took year one on the. Road we've
done a barnstorming. Tour we were in our home stretch
here the last week and a half of. It BUT
i am the general. Manager well, BACK i was on
the advisory board, originally and as part of the advisory,
board we helped hire the head coaches in THE, gms
and in the middle of that, process my three other
(55:43):
advisory board, members who are all teammates of mine From TEAM,
usa kind of looked at me and we're, like have
you ever thought of being a coach or A gm
in this?
Speaker 7 (55:51):
League AND i was, like, WELL i didn't know if.
Speaker 15 (55:52):
It was allowed being on the advisory, board but if it, is,
Yeah i've thought about. It and SO i got interviewed
and did one of those you, KNOW i got one
of THE gm jobs for The, volts and, yeah it's
different being in the boardroom or in the you, know front.
Office we drafted a team, that on, PAPER i thought
was going to be a bunch of power hitting and
run scored and home, runs and instead my pitching staff
(56:16):
was leading the league in era until last, NIGHT i,
think and you.
Speaker 7 (56:20):
Know that's not what we, prioritized but that's what showed.
Up so it's.
Speaker 15 (56:24):
Different we're in year one and obviously a lot of learning,
curves But i'm enjoying. It you, KNOW i still miss
playing a little. BIT i watch out there And i'm,
like there's NOTHING i can do to influence this. GAME
i just can sit up here and yell and scream
and try, to you, know send all the good vibes.
Speaker 7 (56:40):
Down but it's been. Fun it's been fun to be A.
Gm it's been fun to be part of something so.
Speaker 15 (56:46):
Big because, EVER i think we're totally seventeen sellouts so,
far and TECHNICALLY i don't know If Frown route goes
down as a sellout because the stadium is so much.
Speaker 7 (56:56):
Bigger but we had.
Speaker 15 (56:57):
Four thousand people there last, night and we haven't played
in front of four thousand people in pro softball in
a very long, time if at.
Speaker 3 (57:03):
All that was my next.
Speaker 1 (57:05):
THING i was, like do you ever get that itch
and you're looking down and you, go, MAN i could
give them three, innings like what you got?
Speaker 3 (57:14):
Left then you what was left in the?
Speaker 7 (57:16):
Tank three spitey the.
Speaker 15 (57:18):
Max but there are times Where i'm, like, man you
could just throw this, pitch and the, Girl Cordy getten's
WHO i hired as our pitching, coach is, Like, kat
you can't just say you just throw this. Pitch it's
not that, simple And i'm, like, man it seems like,
it BUT i don't want to do the training for it.
Anymore So i'm definitely shut. Down but, yeah there's times
where it's, like, man IF i could just get down
(57:40):
there for.
Speaker 7 (57:40):
It any or.
Speaker 1 (57:40):
Two we're talking To Kat austraman Lifetime longhorn AND gm
of the vaults in THE Ausl and last night they
had you on camera a little bit and there was
a challenge play obstruction that was at third base and
you were, Like, nope she's, safe don't worry about.
Speaker 3 (57:57):
It we're gonna be all. Right we're gonna be back into.
Speaker 1 (57:59):
Play but it goes back to that competitive spirit that
you have in these particular.
Speaker 3 (58:04):
Moments do you ever have Time, WELL i know that
you have the.
Speaker 1 (58:07):
Time but do a lot of people come to you
pitchers and talk to you about certain pitches or how
you would do this batter compared to that batter and
just kind of pick your brain a little.
Speaker 15 (58:20):
BIT i, MEAN i hired a, staff so as A,
gm part of it is letting your, staff you, know
be empowered to do their. Job AND i Said Courtney
getten's she's actually the pitching coach At Florida Gulf, coast
but she's done some grad assistant work At alabama and
With Coach white At, texas so that's HOW i know.
Speaker 7 (58:35):
Her BUT i do talk to her quite a.
Speaker 3 (58:38):
Bit.
Speaker 15 (58:38):
Occasionally i'll see a game And i'm, like all, Right i've,
Pitched i've played against this player for a, while so
this is how you KNOW i would. Pitcher and here's
WHERE i know her hole, is especially if you know
runners are on and they're trying, to you, know take big.
Swings AND i did talk with our pitchers a little
bit early on in, season especially AFTER i drafted, them
WHAT i liked about, them WHAT i needed them to
do a little bit. Better and then over the course
(59:00):
as we scrimmaged and, stuff just watching their pitch patterns
and one of them has a really nasty off speed
And i'm, like why don't you ever throw that back to?
Back and so there have been a couple of games
where she's, like, HEY i got that back to back
off speed for, you And i'm, like and it. Worked
SO i think that's part of my learning curve is
after this, YEAR i could probably be a little bit more,
involved especially with the, pitchers BECAUSE i do think they
(59:22):
want to soak in EVERYTHING i can, provide and SO
i don't think it's against kind of you, know my
role or stepping on toes to go ahead and go
in and give them a little bit more.
Speaker 7 (59:32):
Insight you know.
Speaker 1 (59:33):
WHAT i also love this, too because you were talking
about the barnstorming approach and being able to come back
To Central texas and being able to talk to everyone
and Get Central texts. Involved, Obviously Chris, amadaris who connected
you AND i, yesterday was talking about being able to
come To Dale, diamond And Dale diamond does an amazing,
(59:56):
job from the staff to the production on the out.
Outside they never control on what's happening on the. Field
that's up to, us but for them it is a great.
Experience AND i saw last night that it was an
outstanding experience for.
Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
Everyone it.
Speaker 15 (01:00:12):
Was we had four thousand, people you, Know chris put
my family up in a, suite And, hayley the woman
that was serving, us basically said at the, end she,
GOES i haven't Seen Dell dimond like this in the
five Years i've worked.
Speaker 7 (01:00:26):
Here and then even the other two two of the.
Speaker 15 (01:00:29):
Other workers stopped and we're like this atmosphere was completely
different than. Baseball this was so fun to witness and
be part of, tonight and we're excited for the next
three nights just because it's a different crowd with all
the little girls and all the, families and not that
families don't come to The express but like softball typically
is your family friendly, event especially even in the college.
Space and so they said the merchandise, line they were,
(01:00:52):
like it went around the concourse and it never got,
smaller like it just stayed that. Big and the same
four girls FOR au were just constantly working and ringing
things up and it was. Big and you, KNOW i
think the other piece is That Athletes unlimited has done
a great job of making the concourse and the outside
part of.
Speaker 7 (01:01:12):
The field a space that people want to come to as.
Speaker 15 (01:01:15):
Well you, know little girls want to go get their
hair braided at The Goodie bar Because goody is a
sponsor for, us and you can, go you, know do
all sorts of crafts that one for each, team even
if your favorite team isn't here in this, stop and
there's just so much going on that they've done a
good job to make it not just the game on the,
field but more a more overall experience and, YEAH i
(01:01:37):
was kind of wild when you. Know even the employees
last night were talking about how incredible it. Was it's, like,
okay now we impacted people who didn't even have to buy,
tickets which is really.
Speaker 3 (01:01:46):
Cool that is.
Speaker 1 (01:01:47):
Awesome you got three more nights over at The Dale,
diamonds so make sure you go out and SUPPORT. Ausl
it is. OUTSTANDING i watched all the game last. Night
i've been watching the. Games it's a lot of. Fun
but most, importantly thank you for taking the time today
BECAUSE i know you're, busy but thank you so.
Speaker 15 (01:02:04):

world's strongest.
Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
MAN i got back then they didn't.
Speaker 15 (01:03:20):
Know.
Speaker 3 (01:03:21):
Man Now i'm. Hot they all on.
Speaker 13 (01:03:24):
Me.
Speaker 1 (01:03:25):
Guys we're gonna talk About Damian. Lillard oh, Yeah Damian
lillard got traded to The Milwaukee bucks because he asked
to be.
Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
Traded he asked to be.
Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
Traded because The Portland trail babies felt, like you.
Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
Know, what he's getting a little long in the. Too
we're gonna draft his. Replacement rather than an. Accompliment they
should have drafted a big guy to help him. Out
when he was In, portland maybe they would have won
a few, Games but, no.
Speaker 1 (01:04:09):
You drafted a guy Named. Scoop, okay, Yeah, scoot that's
that's the first. Problem scoot is.
Speaker 3 (01:04:18):
Not paying down.
Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
Hard he's not turned into a Perennial All star Like
Damian lillard. Was So Damian lillard not. Yet, No i'm
STILL i gave. UP i moved On. Damien i'm gonna.
Trade is That Damian lillard gets traded to The Milwaukee
bucks and they everybody assumes that it's just gonna work
(01:04:43):
between him And. Giannis there's gonna be enough balls to
go around for both of them to have.
Speaker 3 (01:04:49):
Success didn't work, out did?
Speaker 7 (01:04:51):
It?
Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
Nope so fast. Forward he tears his achilles this. Season
he misses the entire rest of the, season and The
Milwaukee bucks, decided you know, what maybe that was a, mistake.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
And they make a. Move at the end of the.
Season they brought In Miles.
Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
Turner they did a buyout Of Dame lillard's contract and
stretched it out over five. Seasons all the money that
they owe. Him Dame lillard would be getting twenty five
million dollars every year for the next five.
Speaker 3 (01:05:31):
Years he got that Body bleia money and on top of.
Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
That, Yesterday Damian lillard agreed to a three year deal
for forty two million, dollars, which when you combine what
he's gonna make from The Portland Trail blazers and The
Milwaukee bucks seven y million dollars over the next three.
(01:05:57):
Years my take is there's too much of these mistakes
going on in THE. Nba and the reason that these
mistakes are happening is.
Speaker 3 (01:06:10):
Because they won't microwave.
Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
Wins there is no such a thing as a microwave
win in any. Sport Hard AS i trained sent from
the TIME i was fourteen to the time THAT i
was twenty three to get WHERE i wanted to get
for my first, title it didn't happen in the three
(01:06:33):
years prior to that. Championship it started at. Fourteen And Damian,
lillard a guy that's born In, oakland Loves Portland seattle,
area plays in The Summer League pro ams like he
loves it. There he's back. Home he already had a
(01:06:56):
house In. Portland it's not like he had to go
buy another.
Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
House the dude is.
Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
HOME i think That Damian lillard is gonna recover and
he's gonna go back to for, him he's gonna play
good ball where he's the leading scorer and second and
assists in that. Organization but there is no microwave. Basketball
there is no microwave.
Speaker 1 (01:07:18):
Championships and if you if you want an, example look
At Oklahoma. City it took them all this time to
finally get to the get the. Chip AND i feel
Like Portland Trail blazers will not be one of those
teams that get a, chip but they will have a
(01:07:38):
successful season next. Year we'll say, you it's hard for, Me,
Mark it's hard for me because of the fact two.
Things Number, one a lot of people are gonna spend
money because they think that that's the.
Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
ANSWER a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:07:54):
Of people are gonna spend money because they need their
fan base to believe that they are trying to win.
Something it's like what we talked about With Michael. Parsons
you look at What Michael parsons. Is you've said, before trade, him, Right.
Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
Yeah if you're not gonna pay, him then gonna get
some fun. Exactly and this was the year to do,
it but it's too.
Speaker 1 (01:08:16):
Late but that is why they Traded Dame lillard because
they thought it was best for.
Speaker 3 (01:08:22):
Them but now they get to that's not.
Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
True what do you mean they traded him Because Dame
literar said trade.
Speaker 1 (01:08:31):
Me but a lot of people say trade, me and
they don't trade. Him so that don't mean. Nothing but
the trade they went they wanted to. Get they drafted
a point, guard but that's Because dame was in his.
Feelings that don't mean you gotta let him.
Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
Go well he did, It they did, it but they
got him.
Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
Back he back and they gonna be playing with School
henderson when he should have stayed there the first.
Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
Time and none of this would be going.
Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
