Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, welcome to the Patent Danny podcast. I'm Danny and
with me we're talking about a really great cause today.
And with me is Angelica from Two Men and a
Truck and then also Jennifer from Humility Homes and Services.
You're like, wait a minute, how do these like, how
do these equal each other? How do they coincide? How

(00:21):
do they live together? Well, Angelica, two men and a
truck are doing a really cool thing. First off, when
I say two men and a truck, people go, well, okay, yeah,
you can get two guys in a truck, but really
that's a business right here in the Quad Cities people
should know about.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Yes, absolutely, our moving company runs the movers for Mom's
campaign every spring.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Okay, so you and so that's really behind the business.
Two men in a truck you do moving. I've heard
you've branched out two men and a junk truck.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Correct.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Yeah, we love that because people do spring cleaning. They're
cleaning out things, they're moving people, they're maybe moving a
mom or dad to a senior living home. And sometimes
you just need four extra hands or two extra guys. Absolutely,
yeah it happened. So explain a little more about movers.
For Moms or did I get that right? You did

(01:12):
Movers for Moms, Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
So Movers for Moms was created in an effort to
help local moms and families that need in the area,
and we run it every spring where we collect essential
care items like shampoo, conditioners, so stuff that we take
for granted.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
M hm.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Oh. And that's a really good point too, because we
think about, you know, moms needing the bear a place
to live, you know, like the food, shelter, that kind
of thing, but we forget about those little daily needs
that really add up a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Okay, So then that's where a segue over here to
Jennifer from Humility Homes and Services really where you guys
come in helping people find housing, and so it makes
sense that you guys would be pairing up.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Right, correct. So Humility is known primarily for our low
barrier emergency shelter, but we also offer supportive housing and
mission focused housing, which is affordable rentals here in the
Quad Cities, and anyone moving into our supportive housing units,
we try to set them up with everything they need,
whether that's furniture, household cleaning, supplies, different hygiene items. So

(02:22):
this campaign is a huge help to our program participants.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
And well, just generally speaking, how many people do you
normally serve maybe in Humiliated, like to say, in a month.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Well, it kind of varies month to month, but last
fiscal year we served just over fifteen hundred individuals in
supportive housing.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Wow, and that's incredible. Sometimes I don't think about people
here in the Quad Cities needing that shelter, but we
know it's out there, and it's great when Humility Homes
and Services can provide that for people who really need it.
So I guess I'm back to Angelica saying, so how
can people help We know that you're gathering these items,

(03:07):
but how can people help out this great cost?

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Absolutely, So we have donation locations where you can drop
off your donations across the Quad Cities, So places like
the American Bank and Tross locations, you can drop off
any donations, whether that be shampoo, conditioners or toothpaste, items
like that. Any donation will make a difference and it
helps out those people in need.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Okay, and could they maybe Jennifer take them to Humility.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yes. We always accept donations Monday through Thursday at the
corner of sixth and Fillmore Endewn.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Six then Fillmore. I've been there. It's a nice location.
It seems to be perfectly located. So all right, so
Humility Homes and Services once again, Jennifer, besides stopping by there,
how can people get in touch with you?

Speaker 3 (03:55):
They can visit our website at humilityhomes dot org, find
us on social media, just reach out or stop by
our thrift store or our Jubilee campus.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
I love that six and Filmore six, then Filmore again,
I like that place, and then Angelica, how can people
once again get involved with movers for Moms?

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Yeah? Absolutely, We have all the information on our website
two men dot com slash squad Cities, and we also
have it on our Facebook page and you can see
all the donation drop off locations on there as well
and more items that they are in need of.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
And then how long does this last? Again?

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Until May fifth?

Speaker 1 (04:31):
May fifth, So you gotta get on it, get on
it now. Okay, Well, thank you ladies for being here,
and we hope that people will of course turn out
give those donations, and if they can't do it by
the fifth, we know we can hook them up over
there at Humility Homes and services, But thank you Angelica
for what two men and a truck are doing.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
It's really great.
