911 Call Released in Fatal Florida Alligator Attack

Ryan and Dana discuss new details about the fatal alligator attack that killed hiker Brittany Clark in Florida, including reports that the animal trapped her in a death roll. Ryan also plays part of the 911 call made during the emergency.

I'll be honest with you, the one story I kept
coming back to during my trip in New York City
last week, the one Florida story was this deadly alligator attack.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
I just could not believe what I was reading. Yeah,
I was horrifying.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
So you've got Britney Clark, Orlando construction worker. She's attacked
by a thirteen foot alligator while swimming in a river.
She died from multiple blood force injuries to her upper extremities,
and the medical examiner findings are saying that the gator
performed a death role. Basically was trying to drag her

(00:41):
under the water, and they do this role, that's how
they kill their prey. And she was briefly freed for
a second before the alligator grabbed her other arm. According
to the medical repoard, it was only three feet of
water and it was a thirteen foot alligat.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
I mean, the thing was massive, But I guess, and.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
I think her boyfriend was was pulling her away from
the gator. I think if the boyfriend wasn't there holding
on to her, she would have been completely gone.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
That would have been it.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
He wrestled the gator, he was dragged underwater with Clark,
and eventually pulled both of them to shore before the
gator released her. If you haven't heard some of the

It's just gruesome m to capture.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Her them of them very hanging on my bread and
the other of all, do you know where the other
arm is gone?

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Gone? Okay, I can't imagine.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
This is what I kept I kept thinking about as
I was reading this story and the updates.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
I just can't imagine the scene.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
And there's bodycam footage now of the first responder arriving there.
I mean, you don't see any of the gruesome images
or anything like that, but I just can't imagine what
that scene was A look like.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Oh, absolutely terrifying.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
It. They were just out, you know, hiking, and they
stopped to cool off in the water for a couple
of minutes, and then just this horrific thing happens. Her
boyfriend and her best friend were right right there and
witnessed the whole thing.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
In a moment, everything changed.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
And look, I don't know about you, there's only been
one freshwater body I've ever swam in here in Florida,
and that was a buccaneer bay at Wikiwanshi. And that's
an area where you know, it's it's a water park essentially,
so it's it's very safe. If there's a gator, like
you know, down river, they alert every you know, there

(02:31):
are a lot of safeguards in place. You just can't
go into these fresh water no bodies here can't really rolling.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
I see people paddle warning and I've enjoyed doing it
on vacation up north, but I won't. I won't do
it here. I won't get in the water here because
I'm afraid.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Yeah, I mean, you know, there are some areas I
think that are safe for than others. They had been
to this area before and nothing had happened. But I mean,
thirteen foot alligator comes out of nowhere and then yeah, and.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
There were other alligator attacks, not deadly one, but they've
been a bunch of them over the last couple of weeks.
And her dad is actually, you know, saying the state
needs to do more and why wasn't there you know,
why weren't there more signs? But I think you know,
once you live in Florida. You know you gotta be careful.
