Natalie a Major a legal victory for Governor DeSantis Ryan
as a federal appeals court cleared the way for the
state to enforce the controversial anti drag show law. So
The Mima Herald is reporting that in an eight to
five decision, the full Eleventh Circuit Court ruled the Protection
of Children Act is constitutional, lifting the multi year injunction. Now,

this law slaps venues with five thousand dollars fines, and
it threatens the loss of liquor licenses if they allow
miners into the adult live performances deemed lud or upscene.
The legal battle, if we rewind, goes back to Orlando's
Hamburger Mary's suing the state, arguing the measure violated free

speech and strips parents of their rights. The majority opinion
labeled the law straightforward regulation of obscenity, while dissenting judge
warned it creates a chillingffect on speech. LGBTQ plus advocacy
groups emphasize that standard drag shows are legal, but the
venues are justin quickly to avoid any criminal misdemeanors.

Yeah, I think you've got to know the difference between
a family friendly trag show and one that is something
you would see, you know, late at night.

Yes, at a you know, like place of ill repute.

Right right, exactly, there's a difference there, and clearly they
have to.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Walk that line patience and debauchery, right children exactly.

Well, but for some people just the idea of a
drag quep in general is inappropriate because who wants to
have to explain that to a five year old?

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Exactly, So don't go right right, But you can't ban
them based on that. And the way they kind of
got around it here was they focused on the obscenity parts.
And so that's why I think this law will stand.
But I think, you know, opponents of the law have
a point that you know, it starts to get kind

of subjective.

Yeah, to me, it definitely does.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
We could sit here and say, well, this is what
I think, you know crosses the line, but a lot
of different people are gonna have a lot of different
interpretations of that. So that's why I.

Let me tell you what that is. If anyone listening
out there hasn't seen The Bird Cage. It was it
