Ryan and Dana talk with White House Correspondent Jon Decker about his America 250 experience at the world's largest fireworks display in Washington. He also discusses Donald Trump traveling to Turkey for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit.

the view that he had and I and I responded
and I said, I heard it was pretty hot and
nasty there, and he said, well, I was far away
from all that. I think it was up in a
nice air conditioned apartment. All right, Now, let's check in

the NATO Summit, Real quick, America two fifty in DC.

What was it like, Well, it was chaos because of
the weather. Unfortunately, the weather really impacted a lot of
people's plans as it relates to July fourth and watching
the fireworks. It was so hot during the day and
then it stormed at night, so the weather really didn't cooperate.
As was just mentioned, I saw the fireworks on July

(01:18):
fourth and they were really incredible, And as was mentioned,
I had a great spot, a great vantage point to
watch those fireworks, you know, high above the chaos, which
is a pretty good place to be on Saturday. Nay.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Absolutely, And now you're headed to Turkey for the NATO
here from it.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Oh, you're already there. Yeah, I arrived a few hours ago.
I'm in Ankara. I'm here ahead of the president. The
president arrives tomorrow, so already you see the incredible amount
of law enforcement security associated with this summit, and you know,
for good reason. It's thirty two leaders from around the

world that are members of NATO that are coming here.
In addition to that, you have ten other leaders, including
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenski, who will be here for the
NATO summit which is taking place throughout the week.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah. I remember when I lived in Chicago years ago,
there was a NATO summit there and it was taking
place at the Convention Center, which wasn't far from where
I was living at the time, and the security was
just insane. I mean, you had secret service. I mean
they were on every rooftop, they were checking out all

(02:30):
the buildings, you know, in a huge radius too. It's
incredible what goes into putting on something like that.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Oh yeah, absolutely, And so you go through an incredible
amount of layers of security that I've gone through, you know,
for me to get to my hotel. It's one of
the NATO hotels, So that's the reason why several layers
of magnetometers and there's sometimes you know, I've had locations
where a delegation is actually staying in our hotel. One time,

French President and Matt Cron was staying at the hotel
that I was staying, and so extra security associated with that,
you know, And you know, it's one of those things
where you know, you can't take any chance. You know,
the President's staying at a different hotel from where I'm staying.
And in just a few hours, I'm going to go
to a reception that the US Ambassador to Turkey will

hold for the White House Press Corps that's in Ankara
to cover the summit.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
And this is obviously a very consequential summit. You know,
tensions have been high between the Trump administration and NATO,
so it should be interesting to see what comes out
of these meetings.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Well, you're right, tensions have been high. The President has
often called out some of our closest allies for not
doing enough, not stepping up. He was mad at a
number of allies because of their lack of support as
it relates to the US war in Iran, and so
that may be a topic I think more related to
opening up the straight up formos. But also the President

(03:58):
wants to make certain that every NATO country is paying
their fair share as it relates to defence spending. That's
something that was agreed to at the last NATO summit.
I was there, that was in the Netherlands last summer.
