and fireworks. Part of Tampa's Fourth of July celebration is
thousands gathered to celebrate the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary
of Independence. Thousands of people attended the city's Liberty by
the Bay, the newly named celebration in honor of the

Lane Riverfront Park.

There was live music, vendors, kid friendly activities, a water
ski show. I mean, what could what else more could
you ask for?

And obviously this went on at places throughout Tampa Bay,
so there was Saint Petersburg had the celebration at the
Saint Pete Pierre at the Waterfront Festival also lots of
live entertainment and big crowds. Clearwater had a two day
festival at Coachman Park with concerts, food vendors, a laser show,
and other places like dun Eden, Bradenton, Lake Gland and

other communities also did their annual fireworks celebrations either on
the third or the fourth.

The competition really is between Tampa, Saint Pete and Clearwater
for the best fireworks show.

I feel like there is a competition.

You know, we talk a lot about how the region
is very cooperative and works together and all of that,
but I feel like the fourth of July pressures on
who's going to have the best fireworks show.

Yeah, that could be. Although I got to say I
watched them in Lakeland and they were awesome. I got
to say it was the best show that I can recall, really,
and I'm assuming it's because of the two fifties at
the sty to go all out, they spend more money
on it. But I mean, it seemed like there were
like two or three finales, like it seemed like it
was right, and then it just kept going.

It was really cool, and some of the fireworks that
they fired off seemed like newer, Like some of the
designs or whatever they do when they explode looked different.
So very impressive. And you know, I did stay up
on Saturday night to watch the Big Thing in DC,
even after the delay, even after the Trump speech, and
I watched some of that, and honestly, it just doesn't

have the same impact on TV.

No, it was pretty cool though.

How they did it in John Decker, our White House correspondent,
sent us a video of his view of the fireworks.

I feel like the ones in DC too. It was coordinated,
but they were all the same. It was like all
the things they had set up, they were all blown
off the same ones. There was nothing like interesting about it.

Okay, yeah, because Tampa used two hundred and fifty drones
for two hundred and fiftieth anniversary, so a lot of
different firework shows they're incorporating that into their program. I
always thought one of my favorite Fourth of July celebrations
for me was when I lived in Chicago, and the
reason for that is the view of my condo where

I was living, I had a clear shot of all
the suburbs right so I could see I had this
serious but I can see all the displays, which was awesome,
and I actually kind of had a little bit of that,
not to the same extent, but this Fourth of July
I looked out my window and I had some of

the panelas County fireworks displaces. Obviously not quite as big
as you know some of the big ones in the
Chicago suburbs, but there were multiple different fireworks displays going
off at the same time, which is pretty cool.

I like that. So whatever show you can watch where
you don't leave, Yeah, that's exactly right. That's the best show. Now, Dana,
I've been curious your neighbor. Did he put on a
good show? No? Not really, Honestly, I.

Saw random fireworks on a Tuesday afternoon and nothing on
fourth of July.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
No, I really didn't notice anything on the fourth. But
last night, I'm trying to go to sleep because I
got to get up and all night long people. I
don't know if it was him, but it was close,
and it was all night long with the freaking fireworks on.

A few I heard a few Saturday night. It really
didn't bother me.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
I heard I heard quite a few on I was
I'll be honest, I was so tired from the whole
trip and the week and everything. I was just out
cold on I woke up intermittently on Saturday and heard
some fireworks here and there, but I mean they could
have set off a nuclear bomb and I probably.

Would have slept right through it. I was hiring. They
were going all day and all night. Yeah, I mean.

There were some going off right near our house. One
thing I'll say about like the show is when you
go see him, compared to the TV fireworks, you don't
feel anything on the TV fireworks unless you have like
some awesome subwiffer or something right right when you are
near those things when they blow up, Yeah, and you
feel it. And and that's how I felt, you know,
watching the show in Lakeland and then the freaking neighbors

who are blowing them up right over my pond.

Oh right, oh yeah, like neighborhood fireworks show. Because sometimes no,
it was just just garbage.

One of my friends texted me yesterday morning and she's like, great,
waking up and taking my dog outside for a walk
and seeing fireworks like all over my yard.

I went to a friend's house during the day and

So I did see some fireworks, like from the little
loft like upstairs in my house. I could see some
out the window, but it would have been awkward for
me to try to sit there and actually watch them.

in Florida that they were going to be wildfires, that
people were going to be irresponsible and set off a
bunch of wildfires. Didn't seem like that's been the case, no, but.

Somebody sent it to me yesterday and it was people
were apparently lighting off fireworks in the middle of an
intersection in Tampa and you could see the five works
going up and then people turn I was like, deallo's

emergency calls, our historic America two fifty holiday kept first
responders definitely busy.

Millions packed the region for the nation's two hundred and
fiftieth headliners a Shanty Jaw Rule Shaggy. They drew massive
crowds to Bayfront Park along with of course with e
Chidino and country star Walker Hayes rocked Fort Lauderdale Beach.
Peacock Park in the Grove was packed for the quote Red,
White and Grove celebration. Local fans were dancing to a

star studded lineup. It was headlined by two time Grammy
winning salsa sensation Tony Sukat. The stage was also a
featuring country star and the Voice alum Orlando Mendez and
some rock favorites David Singer and almost there. It was
a free, family friendly festival featuring local food trucks definitely
wrapped up with a spectacular massive fireworks finale right over

the Biscayn Bay Waterfront. Police did not report any major
incidents or delays during the event, but the historic crowds
did prompt dozens of local holiday rusts for duy and
fireworks violations. We had first responders treating a handful of
severe firework related hand injuries. Miami Dade Fire Rescue rushed
one driver to trauma center after lightning strike sent a

tree crashing down on a moving suv in North Miami
and officials are not reporting any fatalities. Fortunately, cleanup cruise
are still finishing up the last touches this morning because
we've had some torrential rain showers over the weekend in
some spots, and local traffic fortunately has returned to normals,
so expect gridlock.

Our national correspondent Roory O'Neil sent us an image and
it was of the drone show at Bayfront Park and
they labeled it two hundred and fifty bi centennial celebration.

I went to a friend's house and we had a
very relaxing day in the pool, drinking album Pineapples.

The neighbor who fires saw fireworks on a random Tuesday afternoon.

He didn't, really, I didn't notice that he fired any

July ran out because he's doing it all week long.

Right, But last night, just as I'm about to go
to bed, at like probably around eight thirty, I hear
a loud fireworks all over the place. Now, I don't
know if it was him, because I and feel like
getting back up to go look. But they were definitely
really close, like in my neighborhood, and it went on
for hours.

Now, what if he's got a special needs child, then
that's why he does it, just to please your special
needs child. I don't feel really guilty.

And if he has a special needs child, he should
keep those children away from the fireworks because he's letting
them get way too close when I see him doing
it in the drive fo.

I I'm impressed that we don't have any wildfires here
in Florida as a result of fireworks, at least none
that we know of.

I was actually pretty concerned about that, because like, it's
hinger box out there, and the Florida man with fireworks
cannot be trusted. But somehow it seems like we got
out of America two fifty without starting some massive new
wildfire here in the state. A Delta flight was struck
by fireworks while descending into Chicago Midway Airport on July fourth.
(10:55):
It landed safely, no injuries to the fifty two passengers
and six crew members. The FAA said the Delta flight
was hit around eight thirty PM as it approached the airport,
after air traffic controllers had warned pilots about fireworks near
the flight path. Take a listen to this back and
forth between the pilot and air traffic controllers.

Had a fireworks at air Planet, but we just started
to bang on the plane, so we'll have to take.

multiple reports, so as you can imagine, the cities are where.

I don't know what they'll do. I'm stunned every time
I hear this kind of stuff. The pilot.

Yeah, so we're flying and it sounds like fireworks at
the airplane.

Yeah, so calm, that's exactly what I've noticed. Yeah, it's
so calm.

Well it was out of it. There are fires. Yeah, No,
there's so chill about it. There's now Chicago Midway.

If you've never flown in or out of there before,
it's like in the middle of a neighborhood.

So you can understand, I mean, you could understand people
light off. Yeah, the plane right right, and it hits
that plane.

Then you had a fire breakout on New York City's
Brooklyn Bridge. This was during the Maycy's July fourth fireworks show.
It was extinguished in about thirty minutes. There were no
injuries reported, but the fire was very likely caused by
the fireworks display.

So something scar Yeah, something went wrong there real quick.

Going back to the flight, I forgot to mention this
earlier when I was talking about my trip to New
York City. On my way up, there was an older
gentleman who was sitting in the seat across the aisle,
and this guy was in full yolo mode. He was
hitting on the woman sitting next to him. I don't
blame him. She's very trying to He's chatted up with

the flight attendant. He's drinking. I see him popping pills.
And then out of nowhere, he starts vaping on the plane.
You can't do that, no, no, And as we're all
getting off, and he gets off first, and of course
he does. He could barely walk, so he just slowed
the whole plane down, you know, by not letting a
bunch of people go quickly. But anyway, as he's getting off,

I'm talking to the woman I was sitting next to,
and then and then the woman that he was hitting on,
and I'm like he was vaping, right.

And they're like yeah.

I'm like, you're not supposed to do that on a planet,
Like it's definitely illegal.

I felt like this year, because of America two fifty,
there was there was a lot of pressure to go
do something for the Fourth of July and be somewhere.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Yeah. Yeah, no, I don't either.
Speaker 5 (09:32):
I went to a friend's house and we had a
very relaxing day in the pool, drinking album Pineapples.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
It was fantastic. How was your neighbor still, That's what
I wanted to know.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
The neighbor who fires saw fireworks on a random Tuesday afternoon.
Speaker 5 (09:44):
He didn't, really, I didn't notice that he fired any
off on the Fourth of.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
July ran out because he's doing it all week long.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
Right, But last night, just as I'm about to go
to bed, at like probably around eight thirty, I hear
a loud fireworks all over the place. Now, I don't
know if it was him, because I and feel like
getting back up to go look. But they were definitely
really close, like in my neighborhood, and it went on
for hours.
Speaker 6 (10:06):
Now, what if he's got a special needs child, then
that's why he does it, just to please your special
needs child. I don't feel really guilty.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
And if he has a special needs child, he should
keep those children away from the fireworks because he's letting
them get way too close when I see him doing
it in the drive fo.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
I I'm impressed that we don't have any wildfires here
in Florida as a result of fireworks, at least none
that we know of.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
I was.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
I was actually pretty concerned about that, because like, it's
hinger box out there, and the Florida man with fireworks
cannot be trusted. But somehow it seems like we got
out of America two fifty without starting some massive new
wildfire here in the state. A Delta flight was struck
by fireworks while descending into Chicago Midway Airport on July fourth.
(10:55):
It landed safely, no injuries to the fifty two passengers
and six crew members. The FAA said the Delta flight
was hit around eight thirty PM as it approached the airport,
after air traffic controllers had warned pilots about fireworks near
the flight path. Take a listen to this back and
forth between the pilot and air traffic controllers.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Had a fireworks at air Planet, but we just started
to bang on the plane, so we'll have to take.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
A look at I want to get to the gate,
and we're just.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
Hoping it was just the mortar that went off underneath,
but definitely felt the big bang seventy six. There's been
multiple reports, so as you can imagine, the cities are where.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
They said they would notify the Chicago Police, but you know,
I don't know what they'll do. I'm stunned every time
I hear this kind of stuff. The pilot.
Speaker 7 (11:42):
Yeah, so we're flying and it sounds like fireworks at
the airplane.
Speaker 5 (11:45):
Yeah, so calm, that's exactly what I've noticed. Yeah, it's
so calm.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
Well it was out of it. There are fires. Yeah, No,
there's so chill about it. There's now Chicago Midway.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
If you've never flown in or out of there before,
it's like in the middle of a neighborhood.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
So you can understand, I mean, you could understand people
light off. Yeah, the plane right right, and it hits
that plane.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Then you had a fire breakout on New York City's
Brooklyn Bridge. This was during the Maycy's July fourth fireworks show.
It was extinguished in about thirty minutes. There were no
injuries reported, but the fire was very likely caused by
the fireworks display.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
So something scar Yeah, something went wrong there real quick.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
Going back to the flight, I forgot to mention this
earlier when I was talking about my trip to New
York City. On my way up, there was an older
gentleman who was sitting in the seat across the aisle,
and this guy was in full yolo mode. He was
hitting on the woman sitting next to him. I don't
blame him. She's very trying to He's chatted up with
(12:49):
the flight attendant. He's drinking. I see him popping pills.
And then out of nowhere, he starts vaping on the plane.
You can't do that, no, no, And as we're all
getting off, and he gets off first, and of course
he does. He could barely walk, so he just slowed
the whole plane down, you know, by not letting a
bunch of people go quickly. But anyway, as he's getting off,
(13:11):
I'm talking to the woman I was sitting next to,
and then and then the woman that he was hitting on,
and I'm like he was vaping, right.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
And they're like yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
I'm like, you're not supposed to do that on a planet,
Like it's definitely illegal.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
I just wanted to get video of this.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
It happened so quick and there were no other incidents.
Trust me, I was ready. We had talked about this.
If something went down on that plane, I was gonna
get video of and it just you know, have you
ever seen people vape? They do it really Yeah?
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Yeah I didn't, and I almost I was like doing
a double take to that guy. Just is he really good?
They try to be very sneaky.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
I didn't want to get caught. Yeah. I Live.
