Speaker 1 (00:00):
So Ryan Gorman Show podcast presented by Farah and Farah
Accident Attorneys from Tampa.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Right now, let's bring in our White House correspondent, John Decker,
who supports brought to you by Advocate Health Advisors, helping
seniors make inform medicare decisions that impact the cost, quality,
and access to care. Learn more at Advocate Healthadvisors dot com. So, John,
we just talked to Rory O'Neil and he seemed to

(00:27):
indicate was there some drama or were there issues on
the flights to and from China.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I was ready to travel from Washington, d C. To
Dallas to begin my long journey to Beijing. That's like
canceled when I was at the airport. So I ended
up flying from Washington, DC to London. I went around
the other way to Beijing. And so, as it turns out,
because of the way that I came back, I circumnavigated

(00:57):
the globe on this particular trip, had a lot of
miles that I accumulated, but fortunately everything worked out. I
made it there in time. I got back, you know,
episode free and so good to be back on us soil.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
What stood out to you about the trip, and we
heard about a number of like skirmishes, Secret Service, Chinese officials,
things like that. Did you see any of that, Well.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I heard about some of those things. I was at
the welcoming ceremony and a lot of security there for that.
I was very fortunate to be a part of that.
There weren't that many journalists that were there for the
welcome ceremony. I think I sent you some pictures. Yeah,
and you know, look, it was it was a thrill
to be there. It was a thrill to be there,
you know, not far from tim and Square. That's where

(01:46):
that welcome ceremony took place. When you hear about these skirmishes,
as you put it, Ryan, they're not all that unusual.
I have to tell you when the president travels abroad
and you have to deal with not only the Secret Service,
which does a phenomenal job. I'm friends with so many
of those Secret Service agents, but also the security for

(02:06):
the other countries leaders. And that's what happened, you know.
I think that that's the way I would refer to
as minor skirmish flow in the country that wants to
make episodes of these things.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Yeah, we're talking to our White House correspondent, John Decker
who just got back from China. Now, John, I just
kind of put two and two together. Before your trip,
you sent me an email with your phone number. In China,
you had a burner phone over there. Is that right
because of security?

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah, I had a burner phone. I had a burner laptop.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
And when you come back to the US, you never
opened them up anymore. And so that's the case. You know,
I used them just for this trip, and so that
was the reason why I gave my other phone number,
which I have no use for anymore, to you. That
was my number that I was using while I was
in Beijing for almost a full week.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Interesting and last thing, I want to ask you any
takeaways from the President and his interactions with China's President
Jiji Ping as someone who was there watching it in person.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Well, they clearly get along. Well, they have a good
rapport with each other. That was pretty clear. The President,
you know, was very pleased with the way that he
was welcomed, and now he has to return the favor
because he's inviting President she to the White House. September
the twenty fourth will be President Chief's own state visit,

(03:32):
state dinner. All the trappings of a state visit, and
that will happen in a few months, and that means
because of that, I think that is something that was
smart on the President's part. It allows the President to
hold President Chief's feet to the fire in terms of
some of the promises that he has made, including purchasing
two hundred and seven thirty sevens from Boeing. That was

(03:54):
one of the biggest trade deals that was announced during
the President's crip.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
All Right, our White House correspondent John Deck with us. John,
thanks so much, appreciate.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
It, Thank you, bye bye.
