Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Ryan Gorman Show podcast presented by Vera and VERA
Accident attorneys from Tampa. Let's go live to Israel and
bringing ABC News correspondent Jordana Miller. Jordana, great to talk
to you once again. President Trump said he planned to
strike Iran today but then paused the attack. What have

(00:21):
we learned about these conversations that apparently happened between the
Trump administration and allies in the region.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Well, from President Trump's own social post, we learned that
he spoke with the head of Saudi Arabia Mohammed ben
Zalman is the leader of Cutter Altani, and also with
Amarati leaders, and that they were all really asking the

(00:54):
President not to restart the war and to give negotiations
more time. And I think the first thing that tells
us Ryan is that Iran's war playbook to hit the
Gulf country so hard that it would create some kind
of deterrence and fear of further war has worked. Has

(01:18):
worked because otherwise the Gulf would not be putting their
foot down and so concerned about Iranian strikes that would
come if the war starts. Right, It's clear that Iran
would strike, They would strike oil and gas infrastructure in
the Emirates, in Bahrain, in Kuwait, and in Saudi Arabia.

(01:43):
And by the way, Iran has done it several times,
even during the ceasefire. So it looks like the President
again wants to give Iran another chance for diplomacy and
to see if Iran can show some flexible ability, and
perhaps this time under greater pressure from someone like Saudi Arabia, uh,

(02:07):
you know where Iran still has a relationship there, you know,
and still need something from Saudi Arabia as well. So
I think we're gonna again. We're we're in another you know,
another roller coaster ride where we look like we were
coming up the hill, right, We're gonna we are going

(02:27):
to come down in a big zoom into renewed military
conflict and now you know it's on pause and we're
going to have to wait and see, you know what
comes up over the next couple of days. I think
for everyone here in Israel, everyone feels like they can
breathe for a couple of days, but then we'll be
back on the same, the same roller coaster ride.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Right.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Yeah, Because we saw and yeah, real quick, we saw
that Iran updated their proposal the other night, and we're
still not seeing a lot.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Of moves been from them in these negotiations. Correct, we're not.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Seeing a lot of movements from the Iranians. They continue
to demand that the US lift the blockade, unfreeze Iranian assets,
and work on reopening the Strait of Hormuz under their
control before any discussions on the nuclear issue. And that's

(03:27):
not it is not flying with the President. He wants
an upfront commitment from the Iranians that they will pause
enrichment for at least somewhere around fifteen years. Is that
the is the demand on the table, and that they
will agree to hand over the enriched material that they have,

(03:47):
all of it, and it's almost one thousand pounds of
material that's enriched to ninety percent. It's enriched now to
sixty percent, which is again just a small step up
from weaponization levels of ninety and all of the details
on how that can be done and the technical details

(04:09):
and the monitoring. The President's willing to wait to talk
about some of the details, but he wants those initial positions.
He wants the Iranians to admit to them. They won't,
and so we're still in a position where you know,
the minimal requests of the United States doesn't even meet

(04:29):
the maximum, right, the maximum that the Iranians are willing
to give. So we you know, you have to wonder
how are we going to bridge that gap unless the
United States is going to change his position or Iron
change position. And you know, if we do a sestion,

(04:49):
if we go back into another into another round of fighting,
you know, what will be the targets. How will it
be able, How will we able to translate operational wins
on the ground into strategic wins and diplomacy. There's still
a gap there, Ryan, from the first part of this

(05:10):
war that has proven very difficult. Right, So I think
I think we really, you know, we're in another we're
in another wait and see moment, and the ball really
feels like it's in the court of the of the Iranians.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
All Right.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
ABC News correspondent Jordana Miller coming to us live from
Israel this morning with the latest Geordana, appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
We'll talk to you tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Thanks. Ryan Tuckson.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
It's Ryan Gorman with Dana mckayon.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Right now, let's bring in our national correspondent Rory O'Neil,
who supports brought to you by Mark Spain Real Estate, and.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
President Trump pausing attacks on Iran.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
Yes, and saying essentially that there were going to be
attacked today was the plan. But after being contacted by
other Middle East leaders from across the area, the President
said that he thinks they are making progress and getting
to a deal with Iran, so he's going to put
new attacks on hold, but warns he's ready to launch
at any minute.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
I think two things tied to that announcement yesterday. One,
and this is a point that Jordana Miller made when
we talked to her Life from the Middle East earlier
in the show. Clearly, regional allies of ours are concerned
about Iran's capabilities, the ones they still have, because they
would take the brunt of the retaliation for any attack

(06:35):
that we were to conduct. And they've even taken the
brunt of it during the ceasefire because there have been
rockets and drones fired at them. So them putting pressure
on Trump, you can understand where they're coming from. And
also you've got gas prices that continue to go up
and up and up.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
They jump like I don't know what was it, twenty
seven cents?

Speaker 1 (06:57):
I think here in Florida overnight, and so I think
that announcement, like we've seen the President do many times before,
meant to try to calm the markets a little bit,
the oil market, gas prices, things like that.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
I don't know if there were any closer to a deal.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
I have a question, Yeah, do you think we would
have had the attacks with Secretary HeiG Seth on the
road on the campaign trail like he was yesterday. I
mean I tend to think that, Yeah, I'm not sure
how imminent they were.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Well, I'm not sure how honestly important Secretary Hegseth.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Is when it comes to that. I was kind of thinking, like,
do they really need him? Yeah, He's not the one
pulling it off.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
I think the Chairman General Dan Kane. I think he's
got things under control. But I wouldn't put it past
Trump to have him out on the road and do
with that. I mean, you know, we've seen before you
had the US negotiating with Iran and then all of
a sudden you've got Operation Midnight Hammer or the start

(08:02):
of Operation Epic Fury. So there have been a couple
of fake outs before.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
He did take Hagsap with him to China, though out
of concern that he would need a strike in Iran while.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
With she Yeah, I thought that's when Trump should have
done it.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
I thought that would have been a good show of
force right there while he's sitting with Yeah, that might
have been a bit much chezing.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Ping and say hey, you know, we're going to take
care of business there and nothing you can do about it.
