Speaker 1 (00:02):
From the theme park Capital of the World, Orlando, Florida.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
This is the Theme Park Podcast.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Wait podcast? Is this radio?
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Why does everything gotta be so messy.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
On this station? Anyway?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Here's your host, Dickerman, Jimmy D and Scott Harris.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Hey there, and welcome to the Theme Park Podcast. Dickerman. Here
there is Jimmy D.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
Good evening, gentlemen, and I hope you survived Revenge of
the Sixth.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
And fresh from Bush Gardens, Scott.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Harris, Greetings, foolish mortals.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Scott. Were you on Bush Gardens on Sunday? Yes, Scott
got to do what I wanted to do because he
was Williams. Did you take it back?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
I did? I took it back on Sunday. If you
watch the video that they posted on their Instagram, you
can see me right against the rail. Yeah, as though.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Taking back Sunday played SeaWorld on Sunday. On Sunday, I
wish they played Seawell. If they played Seawell and they gone,
because I could have gotten hand, couldn't couldn't couldn't swing
it for Busch Gardens. But Scott, he's willing to open
his page, his wallet and use his pay to buy
things you bought your way into see Taking Back Sunday
(01:24):
at Push Gardens. Did you experience the park at all
besides the concert?
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Yeah, we got there like eleven, Like the show was
at six, so like, yeah, we got there bunny a time.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Yeah. Did you ride some rides?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Iron Guassi terrifying? Yeah? Aka Dickerman's Parking Space.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
I had not ridden it, but I did under it.
Is that your first time riding Iron Guassi is finally.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Like yeah, yeah, terrifying, terrifying roller coaster, truly, truly the
first thing that we did.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
At least you got that out of the way. Is
that scarier than Chicra because Chikra is legit terrifying?
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Yes, in a way. I think it's actually steeper the drop.
Really Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Every time I would ride Chicra and they'd get to
the top and hang it there, I'm like, why do
I do this? I don't even enjoy this. Why am
I doing this? Well?
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Yeah, because when you're paused up there, you're paused up
there for eight years.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Yeah, and you're left to think about your choices and
why did I choose this? Yep, yep that led me
to be in this spot in this moment.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yep, that was the next that was that was the
next ride, after afterving Glossy, after the next one. Right
after that, did you.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Call your parents?
Speaker 1 (02:35):
And then we walked around. We saw some animals, We
saw some some tigers and some I.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Love bush Gardens.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
It's great.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Yeah, it's fun.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
And when we were there on Sunday, because we had
their like the bad rain roll through on Saturday that
like hurricane came through, it was like the most perfect
day at bush Gardens.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
That's great. It rains there, there's no shelter, and if
it's hot there, there's there's not much to hide behind.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
There's a lot of trees. I will give them bread.
There is a lot of like tree walkways. So yeah,
you're good there. You just read that.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
That river ride and then you get completely soaked from
head to toe.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
But then we did.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
I highly recommend feeding the hippopotamus and you can do that.
Yeah yeah. Oh there's all kinds of like animal interactions.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
You can you can feed kangaroos there.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
The kangaroos are smellier than I expected.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Well, so are you like I smell? You know, I'll
ask the kangaroo. They might disagree.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
I figured kangaroos just wouldn't have a stink like they have. Yeah,
they're pretty ripe smelling over there.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Again, they might think you smell.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
They might. I mean, if they want to fight about it,
we can fight about it. I've seen a kangaroo fight somebody.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
But then we did Koomba, which is like an OJE
roller coaster that I think has been a good one. Man.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Cuba is a classic. Yeah, it'll beat you up, though
it did it rally your bones.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Not really, And we were last row actually interesting. But
then they have this new ride called Tigris.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Tigris. I have not ridden Tigris.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Yet, which has multiple launches forward and backwards.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Oh I love that. I love that because they did
that with Cheetah Hunt with the forward launches that was
a great one. But Tigris a new one.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
And the thing about this ride it's like one two.
It's like it's like stacked on top of you. It's
like the skin. It's the smallest footprint ride I have
ever been on. But it would phoom and then you'll
go backwards and then you'll lay. It was insane, truly
the most insane roller coaster I've ever been on.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Okay, so five stars for Tigers.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
I don't know if I would give it five stars, okay,
but it was the most insane thing I've ever worn
to have. I don't know, because it was I didn't
condone what happened to me on that ride.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
The other one that looks yes, the one he withdrew
consent halfway through. I take it back. I've made a mistake.
The Phoenix one where they drop your face first. Is
you do that one? Because that looks terrifying. Falcon Fury
was not open, Oh god, Probably because it's scared people
(05:20):
to death.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
But every time I looked at it, it looked taller.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Truly drop they turn you out, they'd bring you up,
they turn your face down, and then they drop.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
You correct, And I believe, I believe it's like seventeen
thousand feet in the.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Air something like that, somewhere in that range. I did
hear that number of banded about somewhere. Yeah, Guards is
the scariest theme park around. I think I just terrifying rides.
You want a day of terrifying rides, come to Bush Guards.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Oh my god, it was.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
You're really talking me into getting on a roller coaster.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
If you like Jimmy says, finally, I'm gonna do a
roller coaster? What which one? Which is the which is
the one? Scott? Do we do? Do we do the
one that you did not give consent? Do you give
the Tigris? Do you do the Chicra? Which which is
the one for Jimmy makes a horrible mistake in size?
The word one roller coaster? Which is the worst possible
(06:24):
ever ride a roller coaster? Again? Is there's only one ride?
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Lost coast?
Speaker 3 (06:29):
I think you know what it is, lots of coaster.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
It can't be Hollywood Bride Rocket doesn't exist anymore. RP,
Come on, mm start us.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
It's definitely gonna be Tron. Oh Tron, tront you know,
I feel like you could pull off Tron like I
haven't written myself. Yeah I heard it's really short, Like
it's quick enough. You were like, I can handle this one,
this and this one's fine. I don't think you have
time to get scared because it happened so fast.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Allegedly, foul Furious three hundred and thirty five feet tall
and the drop is three hundred and ten feet Oh god, Allegedly.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
That is that is a terrifying looking ride.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
That's falling off a very tall building.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Tigris is a triple launch coaster.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Okay, very small footprint.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Sixty two miles an hour. But then after doing all those,
got some food. They have a Tots stand at Bush Gardens.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Mie, Yeah, have a Chick fil A there too.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
They do not open it's on a Sunday.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
What I forgot.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
But then because I bought special VIP seating for the concert,
first three rows nice and included free drink. Didn't even know.
I was just like, They're like, here's your drink tickets, Like,
I didn't even know I paid for that. Thanks, just
(08:00):
wanted to buy. I just wanted to be as close
to the stage as possible.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
So the first three rows, like, did you have an
assigned seat?
Speaker 1 (08:08):
No, it was just three like bleat like benches kind
of thing with backs. Okay, but once the band started,
no one was sitting at them. Everyone was just standing
up in front of the stage.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Yeah. Did they have a good crowd come out for it?
Was there number?
Speaker 1 (08:25):
I thought so, I couldn't really tell from where we
were sitting. But once I saw the video in your
in your Ivory Tower, Yeah, once I saw the video,
I could see, like how big the crowd was.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Yeah, he's not gonna turn around look at the little people.
I know exactly how was the guy's voice, because I
always hear like it's a it's a crapshoot. If you
get a good version of taking Back Sunday.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
On Atom sound Atom sounded great. It was really good.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Good.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
They all sounded really good, A good mix of like
old and new stuff. So I was I'm with like
the number one take Back Sunday fan, and so I
would have known if the set list wasn't good.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
I wasn't there talking about.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Uh, you haven't seen the band I think sixty times
like this person has.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Okay, if I'm gonna be honest, I haven't seen that.
This is why I really wanted to go, because it's
one of the few bands in the world that I
haven't seen there. I've never seen.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Them like I've seen them like ten times.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
There's literally, like I could count on my hands the
bands that I want to see that I haven't seen,
and that's one of them.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Wait, you mean you didn't see them in Cohyden, Cambria
last year when you were asking to see both of them.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
No, I didn't know they were touring. I would have
gone I might have gone, And there's a possibility I
could have gone if I could have Who else is
on Who else is on your list? Honestly that I
haven't seen. I never saw Pearl Jam. I never saw
raging against the machine and taking Back Sunday, and I
think the list ends there.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Okay, Well, I've got good news for you. In the
month of November, taking Back Sunday will be in downtown Orlando.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Where are they gonna be.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
They're gonna be a warp tour.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Come on, man, that's like three hundred dollars ticket.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
No, yeah, if you you can be, you can be
general mission.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Look I'm an og warp tour guy, and if tickets
aren't twenty five bucks, I'm not going.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
I can sell you a ticket for twenty five dollars
to the different to the Warp Tour.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Do you want me?
Speaker 1 (10:19):
It won't want It won't get you in, but you'll
have a ticket.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
No, it'll be it'll be a a ticket from like
the nineties Warp Tour. That's what they cost back then. Yep,
taking Back Sunday right there on the poster.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Yeah, you claim to be a fan. You don't know this?
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Like, what is wrong with warp tour. It's just it's
not it's just a festival. It's not a warp tour.
Let's not let's not pretend here. Okay, God, let's let's
be honest. It's differ it.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Literally, this is my bracelet, literally says Van's warped tour.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Yeah, festival, thanks for your festival, corporate monsters.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Two day vipp yep, that's what you want for nineteen
yeah one and nineteen dollars for a concert four hundred
and nineteen two days.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
That's two days in VP.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
You got cleaner bathrooms, but you also have dedicated viewing areas.
Yea temper controled bathrooms, expedited festival entry and they're gonna
mail you would get goodie.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Concerts are completely out of control. I I you know,
I am glad that I've exited the music music industry
because it is a disgusting place.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Have you heard the phrase that is being used blue dot?
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Yeah? Good? This is how it should be. People need
to step back and say we're not going to do
this anymore. You guys have gotten out of control. You
sound like twisted sister. Maybe I am not sister. We're
not not gonna take it. Anymore. I mean that I
bought tickets anyhow. I mean I didn't buy tickets for
twenty four years of my life.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
Oh I got certain now, So yeah, I think I'm
going to warp her.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Oh wait, how is the concert at theme Park?
Speaker 1 (11:55):
It was great? It's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
It was it was.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
It was so much fun.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
You couldn't hear. I wish they would have done Sea World.
It's disappointed me. They were over in Tampa.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
I remember they were supposed to play Bush Gardens in
twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
So this is like a makeup show in a way. Yes,
I got you, all right? All right? Well should we
move on to other theme park news now that we've
covered the concert industry?
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Yeah, because we've got some news that hits very close
to home. For two of you are the other two
people on the show.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
That's me and you, Jimmy, because I don't think there's
anybody else here.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Well, and I wasn't there when when you when you
guys went to said place, Okay, I wasn't on the team.
Universal has confirmed the closure of the Lost Continent.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Okay, so that whole area over there, what is that
encompass Posidon fury rip? Yeah, and thing's been gone for
a while.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yeah, Fire Eaters Grill, which is like a kebab place.
I walk up place.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
It's still there, mythos.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
But this also means twenty twenty seven, Mythos will be closing.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Oh, the number one theme park restaurant. In two thousand
and five, she said it on the banner right outside.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
I think it was. Actually I think there's like multiple
years on that banner.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
How I remember the one. I'm like, I think it
was a couple of years ago. Should we update the
banner or is it not as good anymore? What's going on?
Speaker 1 (13:23):
But correct me if I'm wrong. You guys ate lunch
there with Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Yes, we made him sit at the kid's table and
she got to sit between Jimmy and I. But correct me.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
I'm wrong. You guys did eat a meal at the
same restaurant as them at the same time.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
We did see people and our party were like holding
your cell phones up.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
And taking pictures by party. You mean no, I did not.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
I don't recall Dickerman taking pictures because I think at
that time he had a flip phone.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
You're probably right, You're probably not wrong. I'm probably the
razor like man this picture on the razor. Look, it's
so good razor, razor sharp. That was a one man. No,
you didn't have a razor. It was something else.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
But one of the ogs of Islands of Adventure will
be closing.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
That's crazy. That is unfortunate. Yeah, what are they going
to do to it?
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Though, well maybe maybe it'll be Pokemon, maybe to be
Legend of Zelda mayble to be a different Nintendo property.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Now are they going to open we those somewhere else?
Is that that's still going to be a thing.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Well. Kind of coinciding with that is thunder Falls Terrace
in Jurassic Park will be closing and reopening in twenty
twenty seven, being deemed the new signature restaurant.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Oh okay, so that hole, that hole spot over there
near Jurassic Park, is that it's a big that's a
big building there.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
I've never been inside that building and I worked at
that park.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
You've never been inside a poor center and gone downstairs
and see like the nurse.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
No, I have no, Yes, I've been in that, but
like I'm talking about the thunder Falls the restaurant.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Mm, yeah, no, I just I just am thinking about
that dinosaur area and the dinosaur stuff.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Oh that, yeah, that's yeah, like that like when you
get off of Velosa Coaster you go through the Discovery Center.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Oh you do, Okay, I don't remember. It's been a
little while since I rode the Velosa Coaster.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Also, that's where Burger Digs is. Like, yeah, No, thunder
Falls is the restaurant across from Camp Jurassic, right next
to the River Adventure.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
I can. I can envision it in my mind. I
can definitely envision thunder Falls in my mind. And I
never did go to that restaurant and there was a
sit down. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Interesting, Well, the three of us are fifteen ninos and
we don't even know or like what this restaurant looks
like from the album.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
I know, I know exactly what it looks like from
the outside.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
I could picture the sign. I can picture the sign.
Nothing else can I picture though? Nothing else? iOS.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
I feel like everybody knows Methos.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
The thing is, I hope that that area becomes legend
of Zelda and you can keep the same like exterior
of Mythos if you have to retheme it because that
fits Zelda Scott.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Let me ask you a question. Yes, because we got
the he Man movie coming out, and Shira has been
seen a lot as a character in the Lost Continent.
We get a Master's of the Universe section.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Forget it. You give us Castle Grayskull. Forget everything. Everything
else is off the table. Let's get Castle Press going
right now.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
The mythos like exterior would lend itself to that story,
just like it would Zelda.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
My guess is they they see how much money they're
making at Epic Universe and Nintendo merchandise, and they're gonna.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Do they do They say, like, do they wait for
this Zelda movie to come out and if it tanks
then they pivot?
Speaker 1 (17:16):
No, because no, no, they would just based it on
the video They know they'll based on the video game.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
Yeah, and it you don't have to worry about that
movie tanking. That's not going to affect a land at all. Yeah,
or it's profitability.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
I just want to Castle Gray Skull. If we can
get a Castle Gray Skull, I'll be happy.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
The thing is, can you name anyone younger than you
that is excited about the Masters of the Universe movie,
And that's kind of the problem.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
I'm not even excited about the Masters of the Universe movie.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
I just think that you're part of the problem. You're
in the age demographic for it, and your best friend
is Skeletor.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Skickerman.
Speaker 4 (17:54):
How cool would it be if they had a castle
Gray Skull but inside you shot nerf balls, soccer moms.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
That'd be even better. That'd be even better. Let's do it.
Can we just build this this area just for me
and me alone, no one else.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Yes, but it'll it'll actually just be the Dolph Longer
in Courtney Cox Masters of the Universe.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Okay, all right? That what was good too?
Speaker 1 (18:20):
It's it does some fun things. I actually watched it
for the first time a few months ago.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
And they had what was his name, Frank Angelica.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Or Franklinela Is Skeletor.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
Yeah, he's like he's a very well thought of actor.
It's not like he's like a B level actor. That's
that's crazy that they got him for that role.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
I mean, it was Skeletor. Skeletor is awesome.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Other other theme park news, there's new food at Docking
Base seven.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
This is over at the Star Wars situation. What are
we what are we looking at?
Speaker 1 (18:56):
We got some new chicken Andorian chicken tip yip salad.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Okay, made by made by a little Uh those little
furry guys.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
You walks. You want you want some pot roast? You
got a pot roast?
Speaker 3 (19:10):
I do like a pot roast? What is it made of? Like? Uh?
One of the creatures.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Sweet puffer pig ribs with portion bread puffer pigs.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Do you know what the buffer pig is? I do
not know? You still do they sell porks? Those are
those little those little birds right? Okay? I started to
questioning myself after I said it. I'm like, is that right?
Speaker 4 (19:43):
They used to I don't know, think they don't think
they still have it. But they used to have a
pork tiki muggt oi.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Yeah, sell them little chickens and called porks like a corn.
It's just a pork, call it porksh.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
The horror makeup show Universal will be closing.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
That is a well thought up show. My wife always
liked going to that.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
But it will be reimagined, reopening later this year.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Okay, okay, so we're gonna get a new They're gonna
update it and finally get rid of like that.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
The tom criis Mommy head.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
Probably a vacuum. They're probably gonna vacuum in there if
I had to guess.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
The thing is, like, the show was fun and all.
I just love the waiting area because it has all
this like merchandise from like all of the Universal Monsters movies.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
It is a great It is a great waiting area.
It's fun. Like you get to the show and like
you're it's too close to showtime. You're like, I don't
want to even go in. I want to take pictures
with this stuff. Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Level ninety nine, the replacement to the NBA Experience was,
which was the replacement to Disney Quest.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Mm hmmm. We'll be opening uh in the summer, okay.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
And it's an interactive social gaming venue built around life
size physical and for Dickerman mental challenges.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
I am mentally challenged.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Yeah, no, mental challenges not not.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
No, I have enough neurological issues.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
I'm good. I don't need any extra. You don't want
to test this thing? Do they have an ADHD ride
for normal people? Well?
Speaker 1 (21:18):
The thing is, I still think the three of us
should do like one of the escape rooms they have
at City Walk and just see if we make it.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
Yes, I'm doing that in June.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Well then never mind, then no, you should come. You
got your own fans, you got your own friends. You're
not gonna invite us.
